Hey everyone – happy Friday! It’s been a busy week in my world due to traveling and attending the annual Bernina University event down in Dallas, TX. I’ve been getting reports that the weather has been hot, humid, and smoky back home in WI, but I don’t feel bad for them considering the temperatures here in TX are let’s just say… considerably higher. The guys and I spent the week taking classes, learning about new product releases, updates, gadgets and a bunch of new technology coming out – it’s been a real blast! Not to mention, to our humble surprise a couple of days ago I learned that we were nominated for the Bernina Rookie of the Year award! We find out later today if we win… How exciting! I’ll let you know what happens. I sure hope we get it, but either way we’re honored to have been nominated and wish our fellow nominees good luck!

As much fun as we’re having, it will be nice to sleep in my own bed once we finally get home this weekend. Traveling is always enjoyable but equally exhausting it seems, leaving me feeling like I need a vacation all over again once it’s over. Fortunately for me, the Fourth of July holiday is upon us so I’ll have a few days of at-home and family time to unwind after I get back. Life is good! I’m really looking forward to simply hanging out at Anchor Point and enjoying the most important people in my life while we celebrate our freedom. There’s nothing better! What about you? What are your plans for the Fourth this year? Let me know in the comments. I love to hear about all your different traditions, old and new!
Alright stitchers! Since it’s Friday again, as I’m sure you’re aware it’s also time for the next Twilight Stars Quilt-Along block release! This week, the magic numbers are going to be… (drum roll please) #10 and #92! Remember, patterns for these blocks are located in my book, Triangle Gatherings (required to participate along with a few other items), which can be purchased on our website by clicking HERE. New to the quilt-along? A blog post I did explaining the full details on Twilight Stars can be found by clicking HERE. The full list of details and required supplies can be found at the Twilight Stars Info Page by hitting the button below!

For those of you already quilting along, I hope you’re having fun! I’ve really enjoyed seeing all the different fabric choices and color combinations in your block posts. Thank you to everyone who has shared their work – I love it! As far as my own blocks go, I’m using my Rustic Gatherings fabric line combined with Jackie MacDonald’s Halloween-themed collection, Spellbound. Both lines feature color palettes including rusty oranges and rich blacks, along with some nice grey selections from Rustic that go together beautifully. If your taste doesn’t include this particular color palette, that’s ok. This will be a year-long project with plenty of time to shop for alternative fabrics that will also work beautifully for this quilt. What do you think of my blocks so far? What color combination are you using?

I hope you have been able to make good use of my Primitive Gatherings Triangle Paper to help you with your blocks so far. I promise it will make much lighter work of all the half-square triangles this quilt involves. They really don’t have to be scary… Trust me! If you’re new to using triangle paper or never have before, I highly recommend following my list of tips and tricks to help you get into the swing of things…

Speaking of scary, I have been getting a lot of messages and comments regarding flying geese and how to make them correctly. Don’t worry, I got you! I will put something together next week once we’re back in the studio to help you with those as well and you’ll never fear them again.
Now that the quilt-along is in full-swing, I’m sure you’ve noticed the influx of posts on both the Primitive Gatherings Facebook Page, in the STITCH with Lisa Bongean group, and on the Instagram page. Thank you to everyone who has posted! Remember, I’m giving away a prize a week for the entire quilt-along to one lucky winner who posts a photo of their completed blocks once their finished, along with the required book, Triangle Gatherings and Primitive Gatherings Triangle Paper included in the picture. You can post it on either our Facebook or Instagram pages (or both!) including the hashtag #TwilightStarsQAL for a chance to win a nice little prize! If you caught LIVE with Jess yesterday you heard that Pat Dubois was our latest of many winners over the course of this quilt-along for posting her work. Congrats Pat! Now… Who’s next? Could it be you??? See you all soon! ~Lisa
