MBH5 Bock Release Week #8 – “Community Star”

Hey everyone! Welcome to another exciting Blockheads 5 block release day -er… day-after, I mean. Whatever it is, welcome! Yes, I’m a day late but I say I get a free pass considering I was traveling for Market all last week. Better late than never, right!? We’re moving right along with release #8 of MBH5 with a fun pattern called, “Community Star,” created by my fellow designer and Moda sister, Robin Pickens. Inspired by the concept of community and fellowship, “Community Star” resembles a close group or “community” of stars all coming together and reaching out to support one other on all sides – much like a community of people. When you look at the pattern on paper, the supporting stars aren’t super obvious at first, but with the right fabric choice adding just enough contrast, they really pop from the finished block.

“Community Star” could be a little tricky if you try and rush through it. There are small pieces involved so be sure to take your time and pay close attention when laying it out and piecing it. In reality, this fun and unique looking block seems like more of a challenge than it actually is, but when broken down it’s basically just a combination of simple squares, rectangles, half-square triangles, and square in a square units – nothing you’re not already used to seeing after the first seven blocks in the series.

For Sherri’s exclusive tips on how to complete “Community Star” with ease, please visit her blog by clicking the button above! For more information on the Blockheads 5 Quilt-Along, check out the MBH5 Main Page by clicking HERE. And don’t forget – if you ever need any of the past MBH5 blocks and can’t remember where to look, you can always find them posted on my archive by visiting http://www.lisabongean.com and clicking the “Quilt-Alongs” tab.

In case you’re late to the party, just an FYI – I’m using Bella Solid Silver (9900 183) for the background of my quilt, and Bella Solid American Blue (9900 174) consistently throughout the entire thing. The rest will be done with selections from the same soft, muted collection of Bella Solids that we put together for this project called “Sundown.” The entire collection is available for purchase on our website by clicking the buttons below!

Have I mentioned how much I LOVE my work-at-home Wednesdays? Needless to say, I spent a lot of my day yesterday putting my ducks back in a row after being gone for Market last week and man… All I can say is I sure am glad to be home! Don’t get me wrong, traveling is fun and exciting but it sure does take a lot out of a girl. I’m looking forward to telling you all about my trip later today during STICH with Lisa Bongean which starts at 1:00 p.m. CST. on YouTube. Don’t miss it… Especially since I also plan to fill you in on a few details on our upcoming annual Primitive Christmas event that is officially on the schedule for later this month. Tune in for the details!

Then as usual, I’ll be jumping over to the CommentSold studio around 2:15 p.m. CST for what Jess is calling “Pillow-Palooza.” If you’re in need of a few new pillows around the house, or if you’re just plain curious as to what the heck “Pillow-Palooza” even means, give us a watch! It’s always a good time whether you find something to buy or not. You can watch through the Primitive Gatherings app or on our Facebook page in the “LIVE” videos area. I will see you all later today! ~LHB

Please have printed patterns for the Nov. season open house, because only have a cheap printer which does not do a good print. Thanks, Bev Navis
