Primitive Christmas is Coming!

Hey stitchers! How’s your week coming along? I’m busy as usual, with a lot of my focus going toward our annual Primitive Christmas event that’s coming up next week already. If you haven’t been lucky enough to participate in this festive event before, you’re in a for a real treat! Join us Thursday, November 16th through Saturday, November 18th (both in-store and online), and Sunday, November 19th, 2023 (online only, the retail shop will be CLOSED) to celebrate the official holiday kickoff off at Primitive Gatherings!

Shoppers will enjoy several holiday Make & Take Project options, along with complimentary fresh baked cookies and hot apple cider. I also designed at least four exclusive patterns (one of which includes a kit) that are available as FREE gifts with a $40.00 minimum purchase (not including tax or shipping). Not to mention, my annual holiday quilt show will also be up on display for your enjoyment at The Gathering ($5.00 admission fee required to view the quilt show). This year’s theme is Red, White, and Green!

Of course, it wouldn’t be the holidays without the spirit of giving back so as always, we’ve selected a charity to share the proceeds of your generosity with. This year we’ve chosen Toys for Tots – an organization founded in 1947 by the United States Marine Corps Reserve that distributes toys to children whose parents cannot afford to buy them Christmas presents. You can contribute to this wonderful program right here at Primitive Gatherings now through the beginning of December 2023 by either making a $10.00 (or more) cash or toy donation toward the cause. To show our appreciation, we will then match your donation with a coupon worth $10.00 OFF your Primitive Gatherings purchase. Everybody wins! You can also donate directly to Toys for Tots by clicking HERE.

I can honestly say I’m pretty pumped about this event, mostly because I’m excited to see The Gathering “dressed” to the nines, all decked out for the 2023 Primitive Gatherings Red, White, and Green Quilt Show. We don’t have quite as many entries as last year’s Red and White Quilt Show, but it’s still going to be a sight to see! Do you have a quilt in the mix? Let me know in the comments so I can watch for it.

Ok gang, that’s it for today! I will see you all back here tomorrow for block release #9 of the Moda Blockheads 5 Quilt-Along, and then again on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. CST on STITCH with Lisa Bongean, with CommentSold directly following (appx 2:!5 p.m.). Have a wonderful evening! ~Lisa

I sent a quilt in to the show! It’s the Springtime pattern of tulips done in porcelain, green and red instead of the original black, green and ivory. Excited to see it hung in The Gathering!!

Lisa, I look forward to Primitive Christmas. Taking half a day of vacation on Thursday to attend as I had committed to watch three of my grandchildren ranging in ages 2-7. It was either vacation or bring 3 children. This Nana is too weary to bring them there. Lol.

Ladies if you have the chance to attend in person you really should. It is so fun and festive and really gets you in the Christmas spirit. See you there!❤️

WOW what a wonderful thing you are doing for Toys for Tots, I hope it is a successful are your Hogs for Heroes”! Will there be a way for us at home to see the Red and Green quilt show? And how can we at home donate to Toys for Tots, should we go through you or donate directly to their organization? From a proud family of Veterans and Marines, we thank you so much for all you do for us all.

    1. lisabongean Avatar

Hi Kimberly! We hope to do a walk-through video after the holidays for those who can’t attend in person. As far as donating to Toys for Tots, you can either go through your CommentSold account (type Toys for Tots in the search bar and use code TOYSFORTOTS at checkout) or by going to the Toys for Tots website directly. Please keep in mind that if you choose to donate online you must use your $10.00 purchase credit toward the store at the same time. Thank you and happy stitching!!!

So looking forward to visiting again. I challenged myself and entered a log cabin in the stars quilt. Working on it, there was a little bird telling me “you can do it, Pat”! Gee wonder who the bird is?!? 😉

See you soon —- toys in hand!

Looking forward to the Primitive Gatherings 2023 Christmas event next week. Last year is when I “discovered” your event and video’s. There has been “no looking back”. I do not have a quilt entered, but look forward to your video when/if you create one for all the quilts that were entered for 2023. (Just one more thing for you to do). Lisa and staff have been so generous with the quilt a-longs, the gifts/prizes they distribute, and they have been very helpful throughout the year, to so many. I’m sure the PG event will be a success. If there is a vote for my favorite picture of Lisa this year, it is her standing in front of the angel. She has been an angel to so many. Happy Holidays to Lisa and all PG staff (that includes Nick too)!

I sent a quilt in for the show. So wish I could be there to see them. Can’t wait until y’all post pics (I hope)! Mine was my own creation, strip piecing. Then decided to use your poinsettia patterns to embellish outer border in wool. I had so much fun making it. Kinda scary bc I’ve never entered my quilts into anything where others can see. I’m sure all of the quilts will be gorgeous.

I cannot wait to attend the “Christmas in the Gathering”. It is also my favorite time of the year, (what Grandma does not love Christmas) and yes I entered one in the show as well. Cannot wait for the privilege to be hung among many talented quilters, the leap of faith I have always been dreaming of. My quilt is called “mixed emotions” as there are many being entered into my first quilt show. So excited!!!

My quilt made it there too! I am hoping to see it in person before the take down in December. This is my first quilt show submission so I’m pretty excited. I can’t wait to see everyone else’s quilts and all the fun goodies Lisa has in store for Primitive Christmas!

I sent my quilt in first of October. I used your Joyful gatherings on an Edyta Sitar Liberty Star pattern. I started early so I would have it finished in time. Last year I didn’t finish mine. It was totally beyond my skills. But I was kinda glad as I saw someone else had entered the exact same quilt. I can’t wait to see it in the video. I’m in Southern California so I won’t be seeing it live. 🙁
    Some day….

I sent a wool bordered strip pieced quilt in for show. I used Lisa’s poinsettia runner for my inspiration. Wish I could see all of them hanging, but alas, I live along the gulf coast south not possible this year.

    1. lisabongean Avatar

Hey Harriett! I’m sure we’ll be putting something up on YouTube once the show is over for people who were unable to make it in person.

I delivered my Legacy Tree of Life flannel wall hanging on Oct 22 to PG. I also had a fair isle themed quilt there last year on display. Can’t wait to see it all in person once again during Sit, Stay, Sew & Shop Retreat Dec 1-3. Such a fun weekend! My best friend will be with me from Florida. The Gathering is such a fantastic experience & truly a sight to behold. Every entry is a showstopper and deserves praise. It takes a little courage to let others “examine” your work and let your yourself be vulnerable enough to be “judged”. But it also makes you a better quilter too! Thanks Lisa for pushing me outside my comfort zone and trying new things!

Hi Lisa! I have a quilt in the RWG show this year. I named my quilt after my dog – Capi Love. I am totally outside of my comfort zone entering a quilt in the show…but as my mom always says “if you don’t enter one, there is nothing to see”. After a long battle with eye surgeries, I did not think I would ever be able to sew again. After months of healing, my vision has improved, and I started working on my Heartfelt quilt. She may not be perfect, but she is all mine! I cannot wait for Sit, Sip, Sew and Shop weekend, where I will have three days to admire it along with all of the beautiful quilts that others have entered. Humbled to be part of the Primitive Gatherings Christmas and the RWG Quilt show.

Thank you for all the wonderful patterns! I loved seeing all the beautiful items in the video on Thursday! I wish I could buy it all! But I had to choose just a few! Everything downloaded easily and I can’t wait to start making presents for family and friends!
