MBH5 Group Two – Block #1 – “Dream Big” by Sherri McConnell

Hey everyone! Welcome back to reality after another crazy holiday season has officially come to a close. As you know, we’re on our third and final day of inventory here at the shop, which has been let’s just say… an experience for all of us. Special thanks to Amy and Jess for leading the operation, and to my staff who has been so diligently working to make it happen. What would the rest of us do without you??? I’m happy to report that the latest word from the warehouse is that things are going “smoothly enough,” and that we should be back open for business tomorrow – Friday, January 5th, 2024 as planned, both in-store and online. The brick-and mortar retail shop will open at 10:00 a.m. CST as usual, and as long as the tech-gods behave, the website and new events calendar should be up by mid-day if not earlier. Please watch Facebook for updates!

We are very much looking forward to having this year’s inventory adventure out of the way so we can move forward toward bigger and better things! Along with 2024 will come a variety of fresh starts including our new POS system in the shop and warehouse, new projects from the studio, new activities and instructors at The Gathering, a new interactive events calendar, new quilt and sew-alongs, and more. It’s going to be a great year!

Speaking of quilt and sew-alongs, before we get too excited about the future we can’t forget about the ones we’re still currently working on from 2023. Just a friendly reminder for everyone participating in the Moda Blockheads 5 Quilt-Along, the “holiday break” is over and MBH5 – Group Two is now underway. The first block release of Group Two comes to us from my friend and fellow Moda sister Sherri McConnell of A Quilting Life with a block pattern she calls, “Dream Big.”

Fittingly, Dream Big celebrates the wonderful opportunities a new year can bring by offering unlimited possibilities within the design. Units include flying geese, half-square triangles, and a square in a square center, creating limitless choices for fabric and color placement. The sky really is the limit on where you can go with this block! Get the pattern now on Sherri’s blog by clicking the link below!

In case you’re wondering, for my blocks I’m using Bella Solid Silver (9900 183) for the background of my quilt, and Bella Solid American Blue (9900 174) consistently throughout the entire thing. The additional two pinks I used are selections from the same soft, muted collection of Bella Solids that we put together for this project called “Sundown.” The entire collection will be available for purchase on our website once it is back up and running by clicking the buttons below.

As always, if you have any questions regarding this block please feel free to leave me a comment here on the blog! You can also visit the Blockheads 5 Main Page for more information on Moda Blockheads 5 and how it all works by clicking HERE. I also recommend hooking up with the virtual Blockheads community for even more support by checking out their Official Moda Blockheads Facebook Group.

That’s it for today but I’ll be back tomorrow afternoon with your next Twilight Stars Quilt-Along block release and an update on the inventory situation. Have a great evening and I will see you soon! ~Lisa

Inventory…. Urgh!! But a relief when it’s over. When I was a kid, my dad managed a filling station. I remember counting tires, fan belts, sparks plugs, etc. It was a fun (for me) time. Good Luck.
