Happy 4th from Primitive Gatherings!

Hey everyone! I hope your Independence Day celebration is off to a great start! I know the 4th isn’t until tomorrow, but our area tends to turn the celebration into a week-long event, so the vibe has definitely been red, white, and blue for several days already! I have been doing everything in my power to stay away from work this week so I can focus on spending some much needed time on the down low over the holiday. My plans include as much time outdoors soaking up the sun as I can get, and as little as work possible… I think I can do it – for the most part anyway!

Obviously, I did have to sit down at my desk for a few minutes today to deal with a few little strings, so I thought I’d hop on for a second to remind you all that both Primitive Gatherings and The Gathering will be CLOSED tomorrow, July 4th, 2024. We will reopen for business Friday, July 5th at 10:00 a.m. CST. This includes the Customer Service Department, so if you leave a phone message or send an email inquiry, please be aware that there will be nobody available to reply back until Friday morning.

Secondly… DON’T FORGET! There will be NO STITCH with Lisa LIVE or CommentSold show tomorrow! Everyone is off so as interesting as it would be trying to film it myself, I think I’m just going to skip it. LOL!!! The next time we’ll be on air is next week Monday. Jess and the girls will be back with bells on for CommentSold at their regular time of 10:00 a.m. CST.

Last but not least, I want to wish you all a SAFE and happy 4th of July celebration! Are you doing anything fun? Crazy? Boring??? I want to hear it all!     At the cabin waiting for everyone to arrive. Did some stitching today on my red, white and blue retreat quilt. We will be fishing, entering in the boat parade around our lake and just having a great time!!

    I am staying with Jack and the two pups! Sounds like a band…lol! Taking Jack bowling in Friday, hanging here rest of time stitching on some wool projects and binding on a table topper.

    We are just back from ca.ping with all our family so I will be happy to stay home and tidy up and maybe SEW. I haven’t sewn in about 3 months and am missing it. Happy 4th!

    How am I spending my holiday weekend? Just like every other weekend! Yeah, pretty boring. I live alone with all of my family close by but they have all gone to their respective camps. I give Primitive Gatherings some credit for makings things more interesting. Early on in the pandemic, I discovered the Wool Box and still am a member. I look forward to the projects that you design and have enough stashed away to keep me busy. One more comment: I belong to a local fiber group (mostly knitters) but one member is a former art teacher. She was looking at a few of your patterns and was commenting how nicely you use color to draw the eye away and back in any particular pattern!

    I will be working. Also trying to get a piece of equipment repaired so my son will have a functional piece of equipment for his return from Chicago. Making two water bottle holders for a friend nd then losing a QOV quilt. Sounds like a lot but I’ll make it work. Have to be home w 5 dogs because they’re not cool with fireworks!!! Have a wonderful weekend.

    Going to be indoors with air on.
    My dogs are very afraid of fireworks. And thunderstorms and it looks like here we will have both.

    We will be having our annual Independence Day celebration with a cookout with family and friends. This tradition has happened every year for over 40 years except for the year we canceled because of Covid. There will be a great parade starting at 12. Afterwards we walk to our park, just a few blocks away, for the turtle races, watermelon eating contests and sack races. We return home for our cookout. Afterwards, some of us will sit around to visit while others walk to the carnival that is always in town during the holiday. We return home in time to grab a bowl of homemade ice cream and get ready to watch the fireworks from our back yard. Fun is always had by all. Happy Independence Day to everyone.

    Happy 4th of July!!! This year, I’ll be taking care of my elderly father who has been very sick since the end of April. He needs daily rides to our local hospital for infusions, and just a set of eyes on him for a few hours outside of that to make sure he’s doing as well as can be expected of an 87 year old. I’m so lucky to still have my dad. ❤️

    Stitching tonight and then heading to my sisters as we always do a get together. 4th of July is my favorite holiday. So we do it big, food, decorating, games for the kids if we can keep them out of the lake long enough. Fun memories Geri

    Other than a short trip to pick up a new puppy on Friday, we are going to have a 4 day weekend and I hope to spend a huge part of it sewing (especially getting borders on Oh Say Can You Sew II), but in all reality will probably have to try catching up on some housework when it isn’t too hot to work. : ) Hope you can relax and enjoy your down time, you deserve it!!

    I’m going to be in my sewing room, hiding out from the heat and humidity. I have been sewing blocks for Quilts of Valor’s block drive—I am inspired by all the old veterans that I watched revisiting Normandy on the 80th anniversary of D-Day.

    I’m working tomorrow. I’m a receptionist at the LTC facility where my mom lives. She’s 94. We’ll celebrate the 4th together. I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday!!!!

    We spend our holidays on the down-low. We are pretty boring. We will sit out on our driveway at dark to watch the fireworks from our park about a 1/4 mile away. No dealing with crowds and the show is just as good. Happy 4th everyone!

    Staying in this 4th of July. With temps in the 100’s and heat index over 110, we are staying in the cool.
    Ribs, potato salad, baked beans and watermelon is on the menu!!

    I will be spending a boring 4th in my recliner with my feet up to rest my sprained MCL. Of course, some kind of stitching will be in my hands; after all, they’re not sprained.

    I think it would be delightful if you, Jess and the rest of the girls could figure out a way to do CS from the boat.

    It is 110 degrees where we live in Northern California, so we are changing our plans to staying indoors with the air conditioning on and we won’t be barbecuing or cooking much, since it is TOO HOT!!! I will be stitching on my wool applique quilt. We still hope to catch the fireworks 💥at night, over a nearby lake. 💥🎇🎆🪡🧵

    I am at 8000 feet on a mountain and the high will be 58. Last year it was 48 and foggy so this is an improvement! I have 12 pounds of ribs marinating, chicken marinating and brats. My potato salad is made so almost ready for the herd to show up. Definitely having a campfire. We wrap a Grands biscuit around the end of a dowel and put on the fire to make a cup. Then we fill it with pie filling and whipped cream. That’s my kind of baking! Lol Hope you enjoy your time off!

    Flying to Oregon tomorrow with my daughter, her husband and their four daughters. Plans are to ride horses on the beach, hike at Crater Lake and just enjoy 10 days of family fun. Happy 4th!

    We are at camp now and expecting our daughter and nine friends to be here soon. We’ll be running the boat and feeding people all weekend! But, we wouldn’t have it any other way! And, of course, I always have a stitching project along for any down time!

    I’m finishing up my O’ Say Can You Sew Mystery BOM piecing (only 3 rows to go till the top is done) while I wait for the kids to show up for our annual cerebration of freedom. I’m going to put a nice border on my quilt so it fits my king size bed. Contemplating whether or not to add some appliqué to the border. More is more so I’ll probably do it 😉 Once the fam gets here it’s lots of food, fireworks, and Thanksgiving to our soldiers.

    A friend was supposed to come for the day but is ill so; after taking the dog for a nice walk, I headed straight to my sewing room. I’m making a quilt as a Christmas gift for the granddaughter of a dear friend.
