The Scandinavian Christmas Quilt-Along Starts TODAY!

Hey, everyone! Are you ready to start your next favorite project of all time? Get ready to put your nose to the grindstone from now until November 2024, for the Primitive Gatherings Scandinavian Christmas Quilt-Along!

For this quilt-along, we’ll be making a red and white, row-by-row quilt using my new “Dear Santa” fabric line that will measure approximately 72″ x 84 ” when complete (multiple variations in size are possible depending on the sashing and borders you choose). You will have two layout options to choose from; one being a simple row-by-row quilt, while the other incorporates the “Santa Panel” from my “Dear Santa” fabric line as the middle.

Scandinavian Christmas is what I like to call a “Mystery Quilt.” What that means is that the final quilt design and its appearance are a secret, and will be kept under lock and key until the very end! I realize that some of you don’t trust the mystery and that you may have some trouble committing to a quilt you’ve never seen before… I get it, but TRUST ME! Stitchers who have participated in my mystery quilt-alongs before will attest to the fact that I would never steer you wrong. Not to mention, the price is right! Each block pattern download is only five bucks, and will remain that price throughout the QAL!

Let me guess… You can’t wait to get started! Well, wait no more. All you have to do to jump on the Scandinavian Christmas Quilt-Along train is grab the pattern for Block One on the Scandinavian Christmas Quilt-Along Information Page by clicking HERE. In addition, each block will have a correlating tutorial video, which you can also find posted on the Info Page. Fabric requirements to participate in the QAL are as follows:

Need to purchase fabric? We’ve got you covered! This QAL allows you to “build” your quilt kit however it works best for you, depending on what you need and how you want your quilt to look. There are a couple of “kit options” for you to choose from. They are as follows:

OPTION ONE – Red Fabric Bundle – $215.00: This convenient bundle includes all fabrics needed for the quilt blocks. It totals almost 15 yards of my “Dear Santa” fabric and the “Santa Panel” (does not include fabric for the background).

OPTION TWO – Background Only – $45.00: In total, you will be needing five yards of background fabric to help create your blocks (if you would like to use the same fabric that I did (Porcelain 9900 182 Bella), we have that option available for you as well). *If you prefer to choose your own background or would rather use something from your stash, you will not need to purchase the background option.

PLEASE NOTE: If you choose to put borders on your quilt, use a different size sashing, or to set your quilt differently than the quilt pattern is designed, you may need to purchase more background fabric at a later date (which is why we chose to use a Bella Solid).

TRIANGLE PAPER – $21.00: I have put together a special Scandinavian Christmas Triangle Paper Packet (try saying THAT five times in a row!) for your convenience. The packet includes every type of triangle paper that you will need, plus a few extra sheets of each in case you make a boo-boo.

If you’re like me, every quilt-along I do has its own binder where I keep any information, patterns, notes, etc, because otherwise – I’ll inevitably lose something! That being said, I always appreciate it when the QAL host takes the time to design and provide a cover for my QAL binders because otherwise, that’s just one more thing I have to do before I start! So to make life easier for any likeminded binder-keepers out there, I had my graphic designer put one together that’s free for you to print and use however you like! Ahhh, you’re welcome. 🙂

Alright my stitchers, you have your assignment. Now go forth and stitch! You now have two weeks to git-er’ done before the next block of the Scandinavian Christmas Quilt-Along releases on Thursday, August 29th , 2024 by 5:00 p.m. CST, which as always, can be found on the Scandinavian Christmas Quilt-Along Information Page by visiting http://www.lisabongean.com and clicking the “Quilt-Alongs” tab. You can also grab it on our regular website http://www.primitivegatherings.us by putting “Scandinavian Christmas” in the search bar. Have a great evening – and if I’ don’t see you at some point tomorrow, have an even better weekend! See you soon!!! ~Lisa

I have not been this excited for a quilt along in a long time. This will be perfect for my bed. I have been wanting a red and white quilt for my bedroom! I am settling aside time each week for this quilt along. Perfect quilt to take us into Christmas season. Thank you Lisa and team. ❤️

I have starched the fabrics for this clue and am waiting for them to dry. I am in SE Iowa, and it is rainy and humid here today, so it’s taking FOREVER! I love your mysteries—you and Bonnie Hunter are the only two designers I trust enough to follow blindly in a mystery project. My plan is to use the panel in mine. Thank you for all you do, Lisa!

Hi Juareen! The sizes of the pieced blocks are all different! I truly hope you don’t let that scare you away from joining us!!!

Hi Lisa! I watched your YouTube episode today and was really excited to hear that you’ll be doing the Scandinavian Christmas in blue and cream/white with the snowman panel! I was already thinking about doing that as I’m more a blue and white person! I’ll be one of the first to purchase! Thanks for all your exciting designs!

I am looking for a page that shows the fabrics and what letter they are in my kit. i.e. the first square uses A & G. Where do I find which fabrics are A & G? I could just pick but I know that the fabrics were figured for use on the entire quilt which of course we don’t have the entire quilt yet so hard to know which to use.
I am so excited to get started! Thank you in advance for your assistance.

You had me at “Scandinavian” …. I am so excited for this QAL! I gained so much confidence doing the original “Oh Say Can You Sew” with the 1152 HST! I am attempting to make this a wee bit larger, so I purchased extra fabric. I’m starting off with 9 blocks for clue #1. Lisa, thank you for continuing to inspire us with new challenges! The fact that it’s a mystery is a plus, because I might be intimidated if I saw the completed project before committing, but since it’s Scandinavian theme, it’s has to be AMAZING!!

I enjoyed embroidering my Santa. I added 60 degree peppermints around mine.
