It’s … ALMOST Time for The 2024 Great Wisconsin Quilt Show!

Can someone please tell me how the heck it’s almost September already? If I didn’t have a large, skeletal, metal structure – aka our booth for the Great Wisconsin Show – going up smack-dab in the middle of my warehouse at the moment, I might not believe that the end of summer is pretty much here. It is indeed that time again! No matter how hard I try to ignore the fact, it won’t be long before our social media feeds will be flooded with adorable “back to school” photos, and classes will be in session. I love fall so I’m not mad, but this summer has been really great – both life and weather wise – so I guess I’m just not quite ready for it to be over yet. That’s ok though… I have plenty to look forward to coming up!

As I mentioned, my mind is already thinking about the seasons to come because in just two short weeks we’ll be back once again at the Great Wisconsin Show! The event takes place Thursday, September 5th through Saturday, September 7th, 2024 at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, WI. If you’re local and have the chance to check this show out, I highly recommend that you do! Simply put, it’s a fun and exciting three-day event that celebrates the art of quilting. It features some really awesome quilt exhibits, multiple opportunities to learn from leading quilt educators, an 85,000-square-foot vendor mall featuring the latest notions and fabrics for sale (our booth is: BERNINA/Primitive Gatherings 1135-38, 1201-04 – find us right next to the event classroom), raffles, live music, and a 10-category juried and judged quilt contest exhibit featuring hundreds of quilts to keep you entertained. Sounds awesome, doesn’t it? Just look at this spread…

I don’t know if you’ve ever put a trade show booth together before, but it is A LOT of work – especially one as large as this! Amy and Jess have been working hard over the last several days to build this beauty of a booth, section by section, down in the warehouse to make sure that we have our layout nailed down by show time (thanks girls, you ROCK!). Once they get all the final details ironed out, photos will be taken for reference before it’s disassembled and loaded onto a caravan of trailers ready for departure to Madison. When we arrive at the event center we’ll do it all over again, with only 12 short hours to get everything set up and ready to go for opening day on Thursday! Here’s a sneak-peek of where they are with the booth so far… Tick-tock!

This booth is not going to be a small one lost in a sea of vendors – trust me. In fact, Jess describes it as our traveling “pop-up store!” Come stock up on fabrics, patterns, pre-cuts, kits, notions, seasonal items, and more! Take take the opportunity to see everything we have to offer, and meet some of my crew in person as an added bonus. You might even meet ME! Don’t be shy, come get your book or pattern signed… We can’t wait to meet you!

Of course, we’re also packing up our Bernina Department to make the journey as well! What that means, is that if you’ve been waiting to get your hands on any one of the new coveted Bernina Q Series machines, this is your chance to try one before you buy! Our goal is to have one of everything up for display on premises so potential owners can really get a feel for what these rock star machines have to offer. I invite you to take the most of this opportunity and stop by our booth to give these exciting, state of the art machines a spin! Of course not everyone has the means – or the space for that matter – to own their own longarm. That’s why in addition to machine sales we also offer longarm services for your convenience! If you are interested in getting on the schedule for longarm services at Primitive Gatherings, we will have forms at the booth for you to fill out. You can also call Luke at 920.778.8035 or email bernina@primitivegatherings.us for more information!

Are you excited for the show? I am! It’s definitely one I look forward to every year. Stay tuned to the blog and my LIVE shows for more information as we get closer to the event. In the meantime, Who’s ready for a prize or two? It’s not officially Friday until I say thanks to everyone who reads my blog and especially to those who leave comments and likes! Prizes this week are going out to Jill S. and Wanda L. for their contribution last week (check your email if you think this is you)! Thanks again for supporting my blog and Primitive Gatherings! Have you won a prize yet? Keep commenting and maybe you will! Can’t hurt to try… Have a wonderful weekend everyone! See you next week! ~Lisa

Once again your staff is the best. They located exactly the thread I was looking for to add ‘sparkle’ to my hand sewing project. Your selection of threads is outstanding!

A couple of weeks ago, I was passing through middle Wisconson. What an opportunity lay before me and I took advantage of it. I walked through the hallowed doors and exclaimed to the woman who greeted me, “This is the Holy Grail of quilt shops.” It was beautiful, clean, neat, organized and friendly. So much to see and touch, who can fabric shop without tactile approval. I left with a beautiful kit and as I traveled on to my destination, I couldn’t help but long for that which I had left behind. So many beautiful quilts, many with my favorite autumn colors. You have definitely created a special space for quilter’s.

Did you notice Primitive Gatherings is not listed among the vendors on Page 17? When I got my flyer, I thought you skipped it this year.

Hi JoAnne! We’re actually listed under BERNINA/Primitive Gatherings.

One day I heard you say “use the right needle for the job” so I ordered a few different types of the Primitive Gatherings needles. This week I tried the PG binding needles on one of your flannel quilt projects. OMG!!! These needles are a game changer. The needle sliced through the flannel and batting like the proverbial hot knife through butter! I will never use any other needle for binding again. Thanks Lisa.

That sized booth sounds so exciting. I hope to make it to WI in the next year. Still in Temecula, CA spending time with my rambunctious granddaughters, 8 & 6. Even finished a quilt for their beach outings while here.
