Whoopsie-Daisy!

Hey everyone. I don’t know about you, but boy am I glad it’s Friday! It’s been a hectic couple of weeks here at PG as we prepare for our annual Primitive Christmas event, which is coming up later this month. We’re just about finished with all the final details on this year’s event projects, and we’ve officially confirmed who will be our selected charity this year… I can’t wait to tell you who it’s going to be! Primitive Christmas is one of the best times of year to stock up on all your favorite quilty items, all while contributing to a great cause! I hope you’ll join us to spread the joy Thursday, November 21st through Sunday, November 24th, 2024. Come hang out and enjoy:

• Make-and-take projects!

• Fresh baked cookies!

• Fresh apple cider!

• FREE patterns and a kit with *$40.00 minimum purchase (*NOT including tax or shipping)!

HOURS: Thursday & Friday = 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. CST • Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. CST • PLEASE NOTE: The shop will be CLOSED Sunday, November 24th, 2024, but you will have the opportunity to shop online until midnight!

As Jess always says, we do some of our best work flying by the seat of our pants around here, so on top of all of the creative meetings, brain storming, designing, and planning going on, there were several quilt-along blocks that also quietly released over the last few weeks. In case you missed them, recent new block releases include clue numbers Six and Seven in the Scandinavian Christmas Quilt-Along, and the debut of the fifth Weekend Edition Series quilt, “Short Cut.”

Now it’s time for a little confession I must make… With all the hustle, bustle, and creative energy flying around, I’m not afraid to admit that mistakes can happen… annnnd one did. It was recently brought to my attention that there is a misprint in the instructions for clue number Six in the Scandinavian Christmas Quilt-Along. You will find it under “NOTIONS NEEDED” where the instructions call for 2″ Triangle Paper. THIS IS NOT CORRECT! The pattern for clue number Six in the Scandinavian Christmas QAL does not require any triangle paper at all. Whoops!

If you’ve already purchased the pattern, don’t worry. All you need to do is simply omit “NOTIONS NEEDED” from the instructions and you’re good to go! If you haven’t purchased your pattern yet, no worries. We’ve got the instructions corrected and updated, so everyone can keep stitching without a hitch! Still need to purchase and download your pattern? Remember, you can find information, links, and downloads for all of my quilt-alongs at www.lisabongean.com under the “Quilt-Alongs” tab. As always, if you have any questions please feel free to call the shop at 920-722-7233. You can also email us at store@primitivegatherings.us.

Whew! Sorry about that! I know you understand and I appreciate you all so much for it… On that note, anyone else ready to get this weekend started!? Let’s kick it off with a couple of prizes! Betty L. and Kathy H. – check your emails! You’re this week’s lucky comment winners! I’ll be sending you both a little token of my appreciation as soon as Heidi gets your information… Don’t forget to LIKE, comment, and share, and YOU could be a prize winner too! And with that, it’s time to let the weekend shine! Have a great one, and I’ll see you next week. Take care! ~Lisa

Is there a Christmas sew along planned for December? I heard it mentioned in the last episode of your YouTube show, but I missed the details.

Primitive Christmas 2023 was so fun! Can’t believe it’s been a year. Still brings a smile to my face. The Gathering was quilting heaven. So glad we were able to stay three nights, meet such great people and experience this remarkable enterprise you have built. Thanks for building it for us.

Lisa check out cutting on block 6. Two things. 1. The cutting of 7 red print strips is too many and may leave you short for the 2.5 inch center square. I was short by one 2.5 x 2.5 but had extra fabric from another project. And I had 2 strips left over from the 7 strip cut.

    2. The white print E is only a fat quarter do you do have to cut more than 2 strips to get 28 rectangles Minor problem.

    Hope this helps a little.

Lisa can you check your measurements on block 8 please. I’m coming up with a 11 inch block? The instructions say 12 block.

My inside center measures 7.5 unfinished. Then i add on the flying geese 4.25 x 4.25 cut as listed adding in 2 3/8 background cut in half for geese. Then 1.5 x 2 spacer. I must be doing something incorrectly? The inside piece fits great.

Okay. I’ve lost my mind! I see two cutting measurements for fabric D on Block 8. On page 2 under making flying geese the measurement is listed as 5.25. But on the rest of instructions the cutting is listed as 4.25 for fabric D. If cutting is 5.25 then the background of 2 3/8 doesn’t match up. Help.
