Monthly Minis are BACK!

Hey, everyone! What’s better than finishing a whole year of Primitive Gatherings Monthly Minis? Starting another one, of course! We wrapped up our first round of minis back in early spring, took a quick breather, and realized pretty quickly—these little quilts are just too fun (and too popular) to stop. So here we are, launching Primitive Gatherings Monthly Minis: Round Two starting today, June 23rd!

You know I can’t resist making things a little more meaningful and a little more fun, so here we go again on another year-long “mini” quilt adventure—and this time I’m making it personal! As a way of honoring my beautiful mother, I’m adding a bit of a nostalgic twist to the mix by naming the first nine of these new minis after each of her nine sisters. Now, I know nine aunts and twelve months doesn’t quite add up, so obviously one or two of this round’s minis will be named after other deserving family members or friends… Maybe even one will be called Lisa Ann, after yours truly. We’ll see!

We’re kicking round two of our mini series off with Caroline—a crisp, two-color quilt that’s all easy going charm and no stress. And just like so many of the strong, independent women that I know, you shouldn’t let those sharp points scare you… At only 20″ x 20″, Caroline is more approachable than she looks! This striking quilt is built from basic units including simple squares, half-square triangles, quarter-square triangles, and what I like to call “triple-star” units.

Half-square triangles might get a bad rap, but Caroline wears them like a pro, making you look like the confident, sharp, and totally unbothered quilter that you are. She’s proof that triangles don’t have to be trouble—and just to make sure you don’t run into any, Kali and I put together a convenient step-by-step tutorial on how to tackle this project with confidence. You can find it on my YouTube channel, STITCH with Lisa Bongean by clicking the STITCH icon below!

Well, what do you think? I know you’re probably anxious to get started so we made it easy for you. All you have to do to get the ball rolling is grab your 1″ Half-Square Triangle Paper by clicking HERE. Then purchase your pattern by clicking the button above! Caroline is available as a downloadable PDF for only $5.00 (if you would like a printed pattern, those are also available on our website). Don’t dilly dally… Pattern prices will increase when the next pattern releases on the 23rd of each month! Want your version of Caroline to look just like mine? We also have kits ready to go in the shop for your convenience along with everything you need to jump back into the Mini groove without overthinking a thing.

Alright, gang! That’s it for today. I’m glad to have the Monthly Minis back in action, and I think you will be too! Caroline’s just the first of many good ones coming our way—so grab a kit, watch the tutorial if you need it, and let’s get back to stitching these little quilts we all love. And speaking of coming our way… We just had a pretty good little storm move through the area and I think there’s more in store for the evening, so I’m going to get moving toward home while I have the chance. I’ll see you all back here later this week for more fun and shenanigans from Primitive Gatherings. Until then, have a great night and stay safe, everyone! ~Lisa

Hi Gail! The best way to figure this out is to give the shop a call at 920-722-7233 or email them at store@primitivegatherings.us – They will be able to figure out if we have what you’re looking for.

What a great way to honor family, I am going to try these as I want to decorate my sewing room walls and what a better way than with mini quilts. At least I may be able to keep up on mini’s……. 🙂

I love that you are bringing back mini’s! Your example looks so flat and looks like it will hang on the wall well. What do you recommend for batting for small quilts?
    Thank you.

Hi, Shannon! Thanks for quilting along with the Mini series. I’m having so much fun with them! Here is a link for the batting that I recommend for the minis: https://primitivegatherings.us/luna-loft-batting/?searchid=0&search_query=Luna
