Ready to Meet Your Next Obsession? The Twilight Garden B.O.M. Returns!

Hey, everyone! Have you ever spotted a quilt in passing that’s been living rent-free in your head ever since? I know for a fact that Twilight Garden has been doing exactly that for many of you since it debuted as the Summer Block of the Week several years ago! I just so happen to know this, because every time I share a photo or even make mention of Twilight Garden, the floodgates reopen — “Are you bringing it back?” “Is there a kit?” “Can I still get in on it?” I think it’s safe to say, this one definitely left an impression on a whole lot of people!

If you’ve been circling this quilt for years, admiring it from afar but never had the guts to pull the trigger, buckle up because the time has come… Twilight Garden is officially coming back as a full Block of the Month Program starting in October, 2025! This 14-month BOM is a true wool appliqué masterpiece, done using beautiful Primitive Gatherings Hand Dyed Wools that are carefully chosen to be just as stunning as the quilt itself. Featuring lush florals, delicate berries, curling vines, and busy birdies hard at work, at 90″ x 90″, Twilight Garden definitely has “heirloom” quilt written all over it.

Ever wonder why so many quilters swear by Block of the Month Programs? I’ll tell you why — it’s a game changer! Instead of taking on the whole quilt all at once, you’ll get it in manageable sections that let you enjoy the process without feeling overwhelmed. You can actually keep up, stay motivated, and watch the whole thing come together month by month. Plus, there’s something kind of fun about getting that package in the mail — it’s like a little gift to yourself every thirty days or so! And by the end of it, you’re not just holding a finished quilt. You’re holding 14 months of steady progress, commitment, blood, sweat, and tears (happy ones, of course) to show for it, and man does that feel GREAT!

Alright friends, if Twilight Garden is on your quilting bucket list, consider this a friendly yet firm nudge. You don’t want to miss out again… do you? Didn’t think so — so the time to do it is NOW! As I mentioned, the next Twilight Garden BOM will begin in October, 2025. It will run for 14 months and starts at just $45.00 per month to participate! You can find all the details and kit options on our website, available now so you can hit the ground running when the BOM officially starts. Ready to make Twilight Garden your next showstopper? Join the Twilight Garden Block of the Month Program and start creating a quilt you’ll cherish for years to come!

Whew! Now that all that excitement’s out of the way, I’ve got a few things to wrap up in the studio before I call it a night — fabric to pull, ideas to chase… you know how it goes. Hope you’re carving out a little time for yourself too, whether it’s stitching, planning your next project, or just getting out for some fresh air and evening sunshine. Whatever you’re doing I hope that you have a wonderful evening, rest well, dream big, and I’ll see you tomorrow! ~Lisa

I am one of those who got the summer block of the week way back when. I have been steadily working on Twilight Garden and have finished both the blocks and middle section. I’m making the borders now and can’t wait to see them completed. It certainly is a masterpiece and well worth the effort put into it. I hope many will sign up for this BOM.

I have never made a wool piece quilt. I have always wanted to do one. Do you think this Block of the month would be too difficult for a beginner wool applicator? I am a seasoned quilter with over 35 years experience. Quilted for the public, have won numerous awards and ribbons, but never have I taken on a project like this. I would love to, but I need to know how the instructions would be and if I’d be able to do this without a class first. Thank you for your time!

Hi, Laura! Any experience with embroidery, hand stitching, or hand appliqué is a good foundation for this type of project. That being said, though this quilt is certainly intricate, being laid out block by block, I believe that this would be a more welcoming project for a beginner since you’re not looking at a huge project – much less overwhelming. If you’re new to wool appliqué, I would highly recommend my book , “Wool, Needle, and Thread,” which you can find at the following link. It has everything you need to know to get started and be successful with wool appliqué!

Last Friday (the 25th), I had the opportunity to visit your quilt shop. I was there to see the Twilight Garden quilt in person, to determine if I thought it was something I could tackle. I was greeted by Cheri, who was an absolute delight to talk to, and took me on a ‘field trip’ next door to see the quilt….it is gorgeous ! ! My question is – do you have any type of classes for people to learn tips, tricks, or helpful suggestions to have a good experience in tackling such a big project? I do have your book, and refer to it often. I also did bite the bullet, and signed up for the Twilight garden BOM, and can’t wait to start 😊
    Thanks, Jill

Hi Lisa, I just watched your 2 videos on Summer romance sew along. I’m assuming the prepping instructions would also apply to Twilight Garden? Are you going to do any videos for Twilight gardens? Should I get the larger ruler for the stems for Twilight gardens? Would a light box be advantageous to use with TG? Looking forward to starting in October.

Hi Lisa…I just received my first BOM for TG, and have a couple of questions…

-There are 2 different sheets of the birds to pick from (both labeled the same) large and small… which do I use?
    – I was reading about the layout, and it said to use transparencies?
    -what are they?
    -how do I use them?
-and where do I buy them?
-should I be ripping my fabric to make my 18 1/2 inch squares?

    Thank, Jill

Hi, Jill! The best thing to do is give the shop a call at 920-722-7233. They’ll be able to walk you through any questions you have and point you in the right direction for supplies, etc.

Hello. I just love this pattern. Would it be possible to buy a PDF version, the shipping are far to expensive, I live in France.
    Thank you.

Hi, Ameline! Thank you for your interest in Twilight Garden. Unfortunately, we do not offer that pattern in PDF format at this time. It’s a very large pattern with a lot of different parts, and would be very complicated to break it down in order to make it printer friendly on letter-size paper. I’m not saying it will never be converted into a PDF, since one of our goals is to have all of our patterns available in that format, however it is not on docket to be added to that list any time soon.
