Hey, everyone! As you probably already know, I’m spending the week deep in the heart of Texas for our annual Moda retreat, living it up in the Lone Star State with my Moda family and fellow designers. My travel bestie Darci has been my sidekick and plus one on this trip, and so far we’ve had a ball enjoying the sights and exploring the area shops and attractions in our free time. We even had a chance to visit the McKinney Knittery in McKinney, TX yesterday, and all I can say is — man, am I glad I left myself plenty of extra suitcase space for the ride home!
Shenanigans aside, I can’t exactly forget about Moda Blockheads Wednesday, just because I’m on retreat and having too much fun — especially since I’m on a MODA retreat — that just wouldn’t be right! So let’s take a minute to talk about this clever addition to the Blockheads 6 Series. This week’s MBH6 release, Flight Path is bought to us by the sweet and talented Corey Yoder of Coriander Quilts!
One of the best things about about Flight Path is that it’s quick and easy to sew. Two sizes of flying geese let you get creative and choosy — the larger geese are perfect for showing off bold, statement-making prints, while the smaller geese tuck in bright or patterned scraps for pops of color and playful detail. And, at 9″ finished, this block is just the right size to make an impact in your Blockheads 6 quilt without taking up a huge amount of time.

I’d usually have a photo of my version of this week’s block, but with all the travel and retreat chaos, I didn’t get a chance to take one. If you want to follow along with my fabrics, I’m using reds, whites, and blues for my MBH6 in honor of my latest fabric line, American Gatherings III’s debut, coming this December! I will also be using two gray Bella Solids for the background: Steel 9900 184 (in place of the white in Moda’s original design) and Graphite 9900 202 (instead of the Navy). You can grab both on our website by clicking the buttons below!
If you’re ready to watch your beloved fabric stash take flight, Flight Path is for you! Corey’s pattern combines flying geese and pieced units, creating a block that buzzes with movement and gives your favorite prints the spotlight they deserve! This clever design is a mix of crisp lines and playful angles that guide your eye across the block. Its structured layout creates a sense of motion, almost like geese cutting through the sky in formation, while still leaving plenty of room for your fabric selections to shine. Whether you stick to a coordinated and planned palette, or go full-on crazy scrappy mode, this block is a fast and satisfying sew that will fit beautifully into your Blockheads 6 quilt.
Well, “y’all,” that’s a wrap on another week of MBH6 from the wide-open spaces of Texas! Remember, because I’m in full Moda retreat mode this week there will be NO LIVE with LISA TOMORROW – Thursday, August 14th, 2025 — but don’t wander off too far! Keep your eyes on your CommentSold apps for Jess and Heidi’s next sale, which will be soon! Tune in, shop a little (or a lot!), and I’ll be back home before you know it. See you then! ~Lisa
