While the Boss is Away…

Hey, gang — Heidi, here!

As most of you know, Lisa is out of the country enjoying her tour of Scotland right now, which means she doesn’t have much time for blogging at the moment. With Primitive Christmas fast approaching, there’s a ton to do — and even with Lisa away (as much as we’d all love to be slacking off), the PG show must go on! That’s why I decided to do something I’ve never done before… hijack her blog!

Many of you probably recognize my name from behind the scenes on Lisa’s LIVE shows, CommentSold with Jess (those knobby “Vanna” hands are mine!), and of course, as Lisa’s blog manager/guru. But if this is the first time you’ve heard of me, it’s nice to meet you!

Now don’t worry. I’m not going to bore you with long stories about my first pair of skis or 500 photos of every pet I’ve ever had — I promise (not this time, anyway). I’m here with just a couple of quick reminders I wanted to throw out there so you don’t forget between now and when Lisa gets back next week.

First up — it’s the first Friday of the month, which means it’s time for another Weekend Quilt Series release! Today’s debut is Peppermint Twirl, a festively colored quilt made with a Bella Solid green for the borders and binding, and four 5″ charm packs from Lisa’s Red and White Gatherings line. With 25 blocks of large half-square triangles and a finished size of 69″ x 69″, Peppermint Twirl is an easy sew that gives you a lot of bang for your buck!

This eye “candy” quilt will probably be the easiest showstopper you’ll ever make! Delicious creams and bold reds pop beautifully against the green borders, creating a traditional, eye-catching quilt that’s just right for the season. Large half-square triangles keep construction simple, so you can have a gorgeous quilt finished before the snow flies — right on schedule for the holidays!

Super pretty, right? I really love the soft look of the green on this one… vintagey! Speaking of the holidays, next up I want to remind you that if you are planning to participate in lunch service at The Gathering during Primitive Christmas this year, your time is running out to pre-purchase your tickets! This Sunday, November 10th, 2025 will be the last day to pre-purchase lunch tickets for the 2025 Primitive Christmas event online. After that, they will be available the day of the event at the door for an additional charge. Why pay more… grab yours now!

If you’re new to PG and wondering what Primitive Christmas is, get ready to be tickled pink. Here’s what to expect November 20th – 23rd, 2025 at Primitive Gatherings:

EVENT FREEBIES – BOTH IN-STORE and ONLINE!:

As if you needed another reason to shop at Primitive Gatherings… Customers who make a minimum purchase of $40.00 or more during the event will receive FOUR FREE PATTERNS and ONE FREE KIT! Customers who spend $200.00 or more during the event will also receive an additional FREE PATTERN (tax and shipping do not count toward order total)!

THE PRIMITIVE GATHERINGS SCRAPPY QUILT SHOW at THE GATHERING:

Come see this spectacular display of scrappy quilts from all over the U.S.A. and prepare to be amazed! Not only will you be immersed in eye candy, your $5.00 admission at the door will go toward the United States Honor Flight Program — a nonprofit dedicated to transporting veterans (especially those who served in World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War) to Washington, D.C., to visit the memorials honoring their service, all at no cost to the veterans themselves.

MAKE-and-TAKE PROJECTS:

MAKE-and-TAKE projects will be available at The Gathering from 10:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and 10:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. on Saturday (we are CLOSED Sunday). Select MAKE-and-TAKE projects will also be available on our website for online participants. Projects are TBD at this time but we’ll have more information on what they’ll be soon!

LUNCH IS AVAILABLE:

As I mentioned, lunch tickets are available for purchase now through this Sunday, November 10th, 2025. Tickets are $12.00 per person if purchased ahead of time, and $15.00 per person at the door. The menu includes a potato bar on Thursday, hot beef on Friday, and tacos on Saturday. Yes, please!

Primitive Christmas is an event for BOTH our online community and our local shoppers, so don’t worry if you can’t make it to the shop in person. Just remember that if you do plan to come to our retail store, be sure to do it between Thursday, November 20th, and Saturday, November 22nd, 2025 because it will be CLOSED on Sunday, November 23rd to give the PG staff a well-deserved break! The hours for the shop during the Primitive Christmas event will be: 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. CST Thursday & Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. CST on Saturday, and CLOSED Sunday.

Alright, that’s all I’ve got for this week. Thanks for sticking with me… I know I’m no Lisa but I didn’t want you missing out on all the fun stuff going on around here just because she’s on the other side of the world (did someone say TACOS???)! With that being said, it’s after 5 p.m. on a Friday in WI — I’m outta here! Maybe I’ll see you next week here on the blog one more time. If not, I’ll see you all in the comments during STITCH with Lisa on Thursday. Have a great weekend! ~Heidi
