Two Reasons to Celebrate at Primitive Gatherings!

Hey, everyone!

I’m back home safe from Scotland, and after two weeks of non-stop traveling, sightseeing, and trying to keep up with my “real” life from afar, I’m almost starting to feel like myself again — and just in time, too! Needless to say, after so much time away I have some catching up to do in more ways than one — especially the Moda Blockheads 6 department. Dang it… I know! I was doing so well for a while there, keeping up with the schedule like a regular boss, but of course the last block release of the series had to drop in the midst of me hopping countries and wrestling with jet lag. Murphy’s law at its finest!

I might have had a few minutes to blog at the beginning of my trip, but by the end of it all, there just wasn’t enough time or energy to fit it in, which is fine — I knew it would be waiting for me when I got home… and it sure was (special thanks to Heidi for sneaking a post in while I was away – atta girl)! It’s Wednesday after all, so carrying on our usual Wednesday Blockheads routine on finale day only seems fitting. Not to mention, with Primitive Christmas starting bright and early tomorrow, I doubt there will be a second to spare for the rest of the week, so I suppose we should do this while I have the chance!

For the final block of Moda Blockheads 6, Sarah Thomas of Sariditty has given us Mod Water Wheel, an impressive 18″ powerhouse that wraps up the series with a whirl! Inspired by the steady turn of a water wheel, this block blends half-square triangles and flip-corner units to create a perfect balance of flow and structure. Each half-square triangle and flip-corner fits together in a perfect cycle, creating a block that moves naturally like a flowing water wheel.

Think you’ve mastered half-square triangles? This block will put your skills to work! Mod Water Wheel is a modern, double-pinwheel-inspired design that’s all about angles, prints, and precision. By now, we’ve all become pros at the little workhorses we call HST’s, but here’s a hot tip: pay close attention to your fabric pairings, because they’ll control how the inner and outer “pinwheels” appear once the block is assembled. Need some inspiration? Moda Friend Sarah Huechteman put together a nice little video featuring her expert advice on color placement, pressing, and assembly — everything you need to successfully wrap up another unforgettable season of Moda Blockheads. You can watch it by clicking HERE!

If you need some time before you can start talking “finishing options,” don’t worry. I’m giving everyone a chance to get caught up over the holidays — I’ll share mine once the chaos dies down. For now, if you’re looking for inspiration and ideas, the Blockheads 6 main page has plenty to get your creative gears turning.

Why do I feel like a college dean getting ready to make a speech about how proud I am of this year’s graduating class? Hard to believe it’s over… go forth, my Blockheads 6 warriors — may your needles stay sharp, your seams stay straight, and your triangles stay pointy… something along those lines, LOL! Anyway, here’s to another Moda Blockheads year under our belts. And joking aside, whether you have MBH6 to keep you stitching, or you find another project to fuel your motivation… always make time to STITCH EVERY DAY!

Before I go I should probably mention what Primitive Christmas is one more time — you know… just in case you’ve been “off grid” for a while. STARTING TOMORROW – Thursday, NOVEMBER 20th through Sunday, NOVEMBER, 23rd, 2025 we will be celebrating the arrival of the holidays with:

EVENT FREEBIES – BOTH IN-STORE and ONLINE!:

As if you needed another reason to shop at Primitive Gatherings, customers who make a minimum purchase of $40.00 or more during the event will receive FOUR FREE PATTERNS and ONE FREE KIT! Customers who spend $200.00 or more during the event will also receive an additional FREE PATTERN (tax and shipping do not count toward order total)! Even better, $5.00 of your purchase will go toward the Missions of Honor program, a standalone organization formed in the image Old Glory Honor Flight.

THE PRIMITIVE GATHERINGS SCRAPPY QUILT SHOW at THE GATHERING:

Come see this spectacular display of scrappy quilts from all over the U.S.A. and prepare to be amazed! Not only will you be immersed in scrappy eye candy, your $5.00 admission at the door will go toward the Missions of Honor program, a standalone organization formed in the image Old Glory Honor Flight.

MAKE-and-TAKE PROJECTS:

MAKE-and-TAKE projects will be available at The Gathering from 10:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and 10:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. on Saturday for $5.00 – $10.00 each, depending on the project (we are CLOSED Sunday). Select MAKE-and-TAKE projects will also be available on our website for online participants.

LUNCH IS AVAILABLE:

Lunch tickets are available on a first come, first served basis — tickets are $15.00 per person at the door while supplies last. The menu includes a potato bar on Thursday, hot beef on Friday, and tacos on Saturday. Yes, please!

Awesome, right? What’s even more awesome is that Primitive Christmas is an event for both our online community and our local shoppers, so don’t worry if you can’t make it to the shop in person — you can still participate. Just remember that if you’re local and plan to visit our retail store, be sure to do it between Thursday, November 20th, and Saturday, November 22nd, 2025 because it will be CLOSED on Sunday, November 23rd to give my staff a well-deserved break! The hours for the shop during the Primitive Christmas event will be: 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. CST Thursday & Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. CST on Saturday, and CLOSED Sunday.

Alright friends, it’s time for me to get back to my preparations for the big day tomorrow! Are you excited? I know we are. So much so that we plan to kick things off a little bit early with a special CommentSold later this evening. Jess and Heidi will be firing up the camera somewhere right around 7:00 – 7:15 p.m. tonight, depending on how things go — watch your app for a notification! I might even pop in for a minute… I’m curious to see what Jess has up her sleeve! Join us on our Primitive Gatherings CommentSold app or by tuning in through the LIVE videos area on our Primitive Gatherings Quilt Shop Facebook page by clicking HERE. See you there! ~Lisa

P.S. DON’T FORGET! I’ll officially be launching Primitive Christmas LIVE TOMORROW – Thursday, NOVEMBER 20th. 2025 at 9:00 a.m. on my STICH with Lisa Bongean YouTube channel! This will replace LIVE at 1:00 p.m. because let’s face it… I’m going to be too busy partying at Primitive Christmas. You can join me by clicking the STITCH button below!

Do you know of any way to contact Primitive Quilts? The code they sent me does not work and I can’t find any way to contact them.
