Your Fat Quarter Stash Has Met Its Match!

Hey, everyone!

If your fat quarter stash is starting to look more like a fabric archive than a “normal” person’s supply, I’ve got just the project for you — the newest release in the All About Quilts Fat Quarter Series has arrived! Say hello to Scrappy Squares, another fresh design straight from the brilliant mind of my good friend and quilting buddy, Val Krueger!

Built from classic four-patch blocks set on point, Scrappy Squares is wonderfully simple at its core. If you’ve never made a four-patch before, it’s one of the most straightforward blocks in quilting — just four equal squares sewn together to make one unit — which means this quilt comes together quickly and is very beginner-friendly. It’s also incredibly versatile. You can choose a coordinated color palette for a more planned look, go full scrappy and mix everything you love, or land somewhere in between. Whatever floats your quilting boat! And if you need a little extra size, you can easily add a second border to make the quilt larger. Simple construction, flexible style, and room to make it work for exactly what you need.

Ready to see how easy it is to turn an unruly bunch of fat quarters into a beautiful work of art? If you’re planning to use Scrappy Squares as a personal stash buster and already have your own fabric ready to rock, you can grab just the pattern alone, either in the shop or on our website. Of course, if you need the whole kit and caboodle, we’ve got you covered there too! Featuring my Prairie Gatherings flannel line, each kit for Scrappy Squares includes enough fabric for one or two borders, so you can size it exactly how you want without having to worry about running out of fabric.

As I mentioned, Scrappy Squares is part of our new All About Quilts Fat Quarter Series — something new Val and I just started last month here at PG. In case you missed the details, let me reiterate: every 15th day of the month, Val releases a new fat-quarter-friendly design, each one finishing at 60″ x 70″. Kits and patterns for each quilt are available to order right through Primitive Gatherings — your favorite quilt shop of all time! Collect them all, or grab the ones that catch your eye along the way — the series is completely à la carte, giving you plenty of flexibility to make quilts your way, on your terms, with no subscription required. As Jess likes to say, easy peasy lemon squeezy!

Well, gang — that wraps up another week here at Primitive Gatherings! After several days of unseasonably warm temperatures in the 40s and 50s, it was kind of a bummer to wake up this morning to several inches of fresh, WET, new snow, even if it was super pretty. It might be nice to look at, but I could seriously skip the SLOP! That being said, I feel like there’s definitely a cozy weekend of staying indoors and stitching coming on… I’m looking forward to it! Spring is coming, but it’s not here yet, so I’m going to take advantage of being “stuck” inside while I can. See you all next week! ~Lisa
