Hey, everyone!
Some quilts carry a little extra meaning right from the start, and this month’s Monthly Mini Quilt Series release falls squarely into that category. Meet Theresa, named after my beautiful mother, and inspired by two of her greatest simple pleasures — her beloved peony garden and the hummingbirds that visited her there.
As most of you know, this is my second year doing the Monthly Mini Quilt Series. This year, each quilt has been named after one of my mother’s nine sisters, two other important women in my life, and of course, my beautiful mother. Today it’s her turn. Theresa is the second to last release in the series, and I have to say, this one hit a little differently. My mom recently passed, so putting this quilt together in her honor was both a joy and a bit emotional for obvious reasons.
This little quilt is a work of art! Theresa is a 21″ x 21″ wool appliqué quilt featuring a hummingbird and peony motif on a flannel background. With five different colors of peonies throughout, it is every bit as vibrant and beautiful as the garden — and the woman — that inspired it. Honestly, this might be my favorite release in the series so far. Not only because it’s super pretty and intricate, but mostly because I think my mom would have really loved it.

Don’t you just love her? Kits for Theresa are available both in the shop and online — and for those of you who want to follow along while you sew, Kali and I have put together a video tutorial on my STITCH with Lisa Bongean YouTube channel. It walks you through the project plus covers some of my favorite hot tips and tricks along the way. Whether you’re tackling wool appliqué for the first time or you’re a seasoned pro looking for a fresh and meaningful project to sink your needle into, Theresa is a beautiful addition to any collection. With Theresa in the books, that leaves just one more quilt in this year’s Monthly Mini Quilt Series before we take a two month break — May’s release will be the last one before we recharge and come back swinging for round three, kicking off on August 23rd, 2026.
On that note, it’s the weekend and I am totally ready to hang it up for a couple of days — but before I go, I want to give you a heads up that we will be at the brand new Fiber + Fabric Craft Festival at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL from May 1st through 3rd, 2026!

If you love creative festivals, you’re going to LOVE the Fiber + Fabric Craft Festival! It’s an exciting new event that brings together crafters, makers, and creatives of all kinds — just like you! It features hands-on classes, workshops, live demos, and a vibrant marketplace, all under one roof. In other words… it’s right up my alley! I’ll have more details for you on that in a future post, so stay tuned! Have a great weekend, everyone — I’ll see you next week! ~Lisa
