The Week Ain’t Over ’Til the Fat Quarters Sing!

Hey, everyone!

We’re almost to the middle of the month, which means it’s just about time for the next release in Val Krueger’s All About Quilts Fat Quarter Series! I know — technically, we don’t usually reveal these until the 15th day of each month, but I figured since August 15th falls on a Saturday, and normally we would wait to release it until the following Monday when that happens… heck, why not just release it now? I have the details, we have patterns and kits ready to go, so why wait? Let’s get this baby out into the world!

Taking the stage for August is Pins & Needles. Need a project you can tackle without a whole lot of fuss? Pins & Needles is your quilt! This simple and straightforward design is made up of 12 classic pinwheel blocks and, true to the series, requires just 12 coordinating fat quarters to make.

The kits we’ve put together for Pins & Needles bring together two of Jo Morton’s collections from Andover Fabrics: Spice Market and Toasted. Spice Market brings the richer side of the palette with colors like paprika, cayenne, turmeric, cinnamon, and chocolate, along with traditional paisleys, plaids, stripes, and florals, while Toasted leans toward the softer side with creams, tans, sandy browns, and a mix of florals, paisleys, plaids, and stripes.

What do you think of this primitive, reproduction look for Pins & Needles? Are these rich, earthy fabrics right up your alley, or would you rather see something a little brighter, more colorful, or modern? The great thing about a simple design like this is that just about any colorway would work! You could go red, white, and blue for a patriotic vibe, stick with blues and whites for a pretty winter quilt, go bright and floral for something more summery, or choose softer colors for a baby quilt. Not to mention, the simple construction also makes it a perfect weekend quilt when you need a quick project for a wedding or housewarming gift!

Ready to add Pins & Needles to your collection? Both patterns and kits are available in-store and online by clicking the button above! And remember, if you plan to buy a kit for this amazing quilt, be sure to also grab backing fabric while you’re at it! When you purchase it at the same time as your kit, you get 20% OFF the backing fabric as our way of thanks! 🪡🧵💗

Well, everyone, speaking of weekend-worthy quilts, what are you doing with your weekend? It looks like it might be a rainy one here — humid for sure, so I’m not really sure what I’ll end up doing. Stitching at home maybe? Grabbing a swim with the grandkids? Supper club shenanigans? A boat ride between storms? All four are possibilities, really. I suppose a lot of it depends on the weather so we’ll see. Either way, whatever you end up doing I hope you enjoy it, and of course… that you find some time to stitch every day! See you next week! ~Lisa
