Quilts in flannel gatherings…spring market booth photos
I thought I might show you some of the quilts from the booth…they all are going to be in my new book called Flannel Gatherings…for a total of 12 quilts in all…sorry these pics are not that great…my camera battery was dead so i had to take them with my ipad…they are so awesome in person….some are very simple with quilting to die for from…Linda Hrcka, MI, and Val Krueger, NV…some of these quilts can be made in a day and will make great graduation and wedding quilts as well as christmas gifts… Some have wool appliquรฉs.. Flannel Gatherings book…order here
Now do they have to be made in flannel? NO! You can make them out of regular cotton prints too, I have used the flannel to promote my Wool & Needle flannel lines from Moda, with the newest line coming out in late July/ August …I was told there was going to be a bit of a delay because they are improving the grey goods that the line is printed on and that set the release date back a bit..so hopefully not as many defects..i guess it is hard to print well on flannel and the better the grey good the easy it is…I don’t want the book to come out way before the fabric arrives because I want you to use the Moda flannels!…if it comes out earlier some may be tempted to use other flannels….you get my reasons right?
So that’s my story for today…I have a fat 1/8 bundle of my Wool & Needle II to give away with all 32 pieces…if you leave me a comment on which of the quilts you can see here is your favorite? I can see 9 of the 12 …some are kind of hidden…and you can’t see them very well…but I promise the book will have lots of great photos! If you PIN any of these photos make sure they are properly labeled! Thanks….
I love them all but if I have to pick……then I guess either the second one or the last one. As always love all your stuff…thank you for the great give away.
How can I choose just one! I do love the one with the small pinwheels. That is a great quilt to use up scraps. Love your work, Lisa. Have a great show!
I like the little pinwheels and the one next to it with the dark blue background and ? maybe nine patches? Flannel would feel good about now since it was in the 40’s here hast night. Summer has been a reluctant visitor in our area. Be well!
So I love the two that read Amish inspired, the red green gold star, and the cream and navy diamond, but I think my fav is the one that you can only see part of. It’s folded and hanging next to the pinwheels on cream, and I believe the pattern is on your site with the statement that it is a wonderful scrap quilt, which is my fav to make since my collection of fat quarters exceeds anything else I own. Therefore I tend to make scrap quilts and this one is so pretty ! Could use the fat eighths in it for sure!
Lisa,
I’m looking forward to getting your book! I like the quilt with the little pinwheels…..it is going on my to do list for Christmas presents! I love your flannels.
I love the last quilt pictured! I have 5 boys and it’s so hard to find a “Man’s” quilt to make. I would love to make this one for my son’s HS graduation gift!!!! Love your stuff as always Lisa! xxx
My favorite is the first one shown. Love the large dramatic star in the center. Would like to see more of the floral quilt on the left side of Pic 4. Looks beautiful too.
I love the third quilt with the large golden and red star. I am so into “stars” right now, and I would love to see the quilting up close! Thank you for sharing Market with us.
Oh, Lisa, I love the one with the little pinwheels!!! The ample background leaves room for some beautiful quilting and also really shows off the fabric in those pinwheels. So eager to see the book and new fabrics. Hope all is available when we make our yearly voyage to your area in late August or early September. A visit to your shop is the highlight of my trip from Nebraska!
I love the Black and cream one. It is simple but really beautiful!! I really like them all-as usual. Can’t wait to see your booth in Chicago–or when I get to your store later this summer.
I love the delicate look of the nine patch pinwheel quilt………oh my goodness how lovely.
Congratulations on your new book.
Thanks for the chance to win those amazing Moda flannels :0)
The Rose and Green Applique quilt is stunning. What a great background for the quilting to show. Flannel shows the texture of quilting so well, and is great to snuggle with! Look forward to the new line being available. Guess I will need the book too!
It’s hard to chose but I do love the pinwheel block and your pinwheel quilt is a lovely subtle balance. Can’t wait to see a better picture of it. Spring market sounds awesome!
I like # 4 best . I like the way the cornerstones increase in size- very cozy in flannel. If I was making it for a wedding quilt, I would make it in cotton so the guests could sign it and do the backing in flannel. Thank you for a chance to win and please come to Texas DFW area!
Love the black and cream the most of the lineup, though your designs are hard to find one that isn’t great. Also love the Tree of Life you featured just prior to QM. Anxious for the new book and the new fabric. Thanks for all you do.
Lisa, they’re all just great! I’m a real star fan and the star-in-a-star block is a favorite. But today my choice is the pinwheel chain — so clean and simple. It is timeless!
I really love the “Trip Around the World” quilt with the star and heart appliques! I will definitely need a kit for that one, if you will be having them.
Love them all, but the one with stars and heart appliques is my favorite. Can’t go wrong with stars and hearts. Would love to make that one for my son and daughter-in-law for their 20th anniversary! Definitely want the book and the fabric.
How do you pick just one. I think my favorite of favorites is the Star quilt. I am a novice quilter and can hardly wait until you come to Long Beach, CA in August.
Morning Lisa,
Your Wool & Needle flannels are so soft and cozy! I use them a lot as the base for wool applique. I can’t pick one quilt so I have to pick 2 the quilts I like the best is the Barn Raising and the Black and Tan Diamond…I love diamond shapes. Looking forward to your new book.
Enjoy your weekend,
Leanne
I like what I can see of the applique quilt hanging behind the shelves, would love to see that one close up!
Thanks for the chance to win the sample pack of your new flannels!
Wow! They are all great! I like the one with the pennies, hearts and stars in the design… though I’d probably just do all pennies… I also like the one that hit and miss… looks like a hooked rug! ๐ And, who doesn’t like pinwheels? ๐ And, what I really appreciate is the designs with larger pieces… gives us gals that are less experienced with piecing a good chance to make a pieced quilt (in time to be able to warm up under the flannels too)! lol! Awesome! Looking forward to stitching on these!
They are all beautiful quilts and I think I like the second quilt with the around the world design, add the stars and hearts and it would be a beautiful quilt to do in the flannels.
Choose just one? Are you kidding? I love them all and will have to get my order in for the book. If I must choose, the most eye-catching for me was the second photo with the hearts and stars applique (LOVE applique!)
I enjoyed your booth so much at market, seeing all your quilts it is hard to pick one, but your Tree of Life quilt is one I must make. I enjoyed visiting with you and would love to be in Wisconsin and stay at your home. Your new book is going to be a hit.
I LOVE the little pinwheels. Rarely do you see a small design made in flannel ! I cannot wait to make it with the new flannels. Thanks for showing us your great new quilts !
My favorite is the cream background with the red and green applique on it. I love applique everything. But I also like the second one with the stars and hearts.
I love the primitive look of the Trip Around the World quilt. Years ago I made a brightly colored one for my sister for a wedding gift. I actually sewed it together square by square and decided to never do another one. That was before there was strip piecing as I now know it. I may actually have to try another one, with flannels and some applique in the squares, which gives it a whole different look!
Thanks for your blog Lisa, it is truly inspiring!
Diane Z
I’m a sucker for pinwheels, so that would be my favorite. But I think the rail fence or square in a square would be fun to make and a great way to use up some of my flannels. Looking forward to seeing the new book.
Lisa-they are all beautiful! And there are three that I will definitely be making when I get your book-the black/tan/cream, the star in a star in a star, and the pinwheel Irish chain-which is my favorite and the first one on my to-do list!!
I can’t wait to see you Friday at the East Cobb Quilt Guild meeting!!!
Love them all! My favorite for the moment is the second one. Trip around the world with wool embellishment hearts and stars. Thank you for letting us see the new designs for the new book.
Hard to choose Lisa, as they are all wonderful, but I think my choice would be the tree of life, which you didn’t post a picture of yet. Of the ones posted, the little pinwheel one. Can’t wait to se3 these in person.
I Just love the mini pinwheel quilt. I could see it done it just 2 colors or done in all my scraps laying around that my husband keeps asking me why I am saving that little piece of fabric lol.
I Love the ecru and black, reminds me of a bold sunlight and shadow. I also love the bird on the branch pillow with the triangles border. Stunning. I also like the one with the meandering prairie rose ? flower.
They are all beautiful. It amazes me that you can continue to create so many beautiful designs to share with us. I think my 2 favorites right now are the rail fence quilt and the one with the star and heart appliquรฉ.
They are all beautiful! My favorite one pictured here is the first one. The pillow next to it is also adorable. I also really really love the “Tree of Life” quilt pictured in your previous post. Thank you!
LOVE all of them…especially the one with the stars and hearts in the squares…or maybe the rail fence,,,or maybe the pinwheels!! Can’t wait for the new book and the fabric!! Thanks for sharing Lisa!
Love them all but I really like the red/brown/cream one. Who doesn’t love stars? They are all beautiful and can be easily made…which is what I like! Can’t wait to see the book and fabric!
I like the one in the last photo as it would be perfect for all the men in my life. Can’t wait for the fabric to arrive and the book will be great to make the quilts either in flannel or cotton, or cotton with flannel backing. Either way they would be awesome.
It’s a toss up between the first and second but I will go with the first and the beautiful red star…….awesome! Already have the book on order and would love to win some of the new flannels!! Thanks for the giveaway!!
I love the first one especially but they are all great! When you first mentioned that your book was flannel quilts I really wasn’t too excited because flannel (no way, HOT FLASHES) doesn’t interest me. Now that I’ve seen the quilts I can really see them done in cotton and still being quite beautiful. Thanks for sharing a peak at the quilts.
Your work is always fantastic. I wish I could see the last one so, I’ll say the first one. Can’t wait to see your new book and the flannels. Thanks for all the inspiring things that you do.
I liked the “rail” flannel quilt. Having raised 3 boys, it is a perfect quilt for the men in my family! I also think I already reserved a request for the new book. Look forward to seeing you on Thursday at East Cobb Quilt Guild in Georgia.
Hard to pick a favorite but I will have to so the second one is very appealing to me, The stars and hearts remind me of love and the universe. Two great things in life. Thanks Lisa, look forward to the new book.
Can’t wait for the new book! I would want to wait til the Moda flannels were available too. My favorite is a tight tie between the rail fence and the barn raising trip around the world with the wool appliques. they are all really pretty! thanks for sharing a sneek peak with us!
It is difficult to pick just one but if I had to it would be the small pinwheel. Love your patterns, just bought the snowman gathering pattern and ordered your wool kit. I’m anxious to get started!
I would so love to win some of your fabric. I like the dark and cream quilt with the square in a square in the middle. I am a longarm quilter and that quilt has minimal piecing, but wonderful areas for beautiful quilting. Thank you for posting and for giving away your fabric.
I would love to win some of your fabric. I like the dark and cream quilt with the square in a square in the middle. I am a longarm quilter and this quilt has minimal piecing, but wonderful areas for dynamic quilting.
Lisa, these are beautiful and will be so cozy. My favorite is the second one with the stars but I also love the first and last one. I know I will be making quite a few of them for my family this Christmas. Anxious for the book and line to come out. Great work, again. Mary
That last large quilt that looks like stripes, and I think you posted it previously on your blog, is my favorite. I really want that pattern and your new book, but can hardly wait for your fabric to come out!!
Love all of them but the 2nd one is my favorite. It reminds me of the trip around the world I once made only yours has appliquรฉ and that is my favorite quilting to do now. Once the appliquรฉ bug got me I’ve been at it every since. Love your work Lisa! See you in Raleigh, NC next month.
The rail fence really excites me. I have two grandsons graduating from high school and that quilt would be quick, easy and gorgeous, not to mention, soft and warm. I would love to win the bundle of Wool & Needle II. Thank you for offering it.
They are all just beautiful as always. I can’t decide if the Ohio Star, Square in a Square or the Pinwheel is favorite. Synergy I will have to make all three! Can’t wait for the book
The third one with the giant star is my favorite and I have the perfect spot for it. I love working with flannel but haven’t for a long time, this may be the motivation I need,
Thanks for the chance to win!
I see 9 but if you coulnt the one by the pinwheels, I see 10. I love the one that has the stars which is the second pic. Love all your designs.
Paula in KY
Love them all, but since I have to pick….I choose the second picture with the stars and hearts. Love everything you do. Thanks for being mail order besides your shop. Keeps me in projects and many more than I can finish but I love to look at and feel them.
The star in a star (#2) is my first choice – almost a tie with the lovely pinwheels. I’m working on a dorm quilt for my oldest grandson using your Wool & Needle Flannels. Your flannel doesn’t “fuzz” (I’ve pre-washed it); that is so appreciated. Lisa, your designs, directions and fabrics are great as is the service from your on-line staff.
Love them all! And working with flannel is so comforting. If the applique rose quilt is from that collection, then that one is my favorite. If not, my vote is for the pinwheel quilt.
Lisa, wow, I love all but the first one is eye candy to me. Love the almost dimensional affect the te-rec style center star. I think you have really hit the mark with this new book. Can’t wait.
Peggy Dalberto
The quilting in #3 is beautiful and I love the colors. #4 is also wonderful, great design. Lastly I like #5 the dark blue quilt on the right, which is next to the lighter quilt. They are all lovely!
The 3rd is my favorite….the colors (gold, burg, green) are Awesome together. I will have to say the quilting really sets it off. It reminds me of the metal ceiling tiles that were in old buildings. I have one framed on my living room wall and this quilt resembles it!! I do like them all ‘tho! Thanks for sharing!! Your book will be great !
Lisa – love what you have done with Moda–Love the pinwheel quilt…..I can’t wait to see it up close….the quilting must make this a must-do…..it is elegant. I also Love the last one…something simple to make the qulting standout and make it a go-to project for someone special! Thank you for always keeping everyone excited about a very fulfilling hobby!!
It’s way to hard to just pick one! My favorite is the Tree of Life that you posted earlier. I love all of the beautiful rich colors of your flannels. I can’t wait for the book!
Stars and hearts and checkerboards – oh my! Or maybe the pinwheels in soft colors with a rich creamy looking background and gorgeous quilting to set them spinning?
I like the quilt in the 6th picture the best. It is so earthy warm, it makes me want to sit in front of a fire wrapped in it. But of course I like all of the quilts. Thanks for sharing and thanks for a chance.
I really like them all but I would defintely make the big star quilt and big stitch it. The pinwheel would be great to use scraps from the rest of the quilts.
I liked the black and cream quilt with the HST in the corners of the borders, simple yet elegant. All of them are very nice and am waiting for the book.
Just when I think I have decided, I change my mind and love a different one! But I guess I would have to go with my first instinct, and say the gold and red star in a star! You really have outdone yourself this time. Just keep on designing and we will keep on buying and making……
Thanks for sharing the pictures of your new quilts. They are all lovely, and my favourite one would be the little pinwheels. I was wanting to make a pinwheel quilt and now I found it.
I can’t imagine how beautiful these must be in person with wool! Just yummy!! I really liked the large star quilt – mustard and crimson and sage. I love simple quilts.
WOW I LOVE THEM ALL. I THINK MY FAVORITES ARE IN PICTURE #4
THE CREAM AND BLACK IS STUNNING AND THE CREAM WITH THE PINK FLOWERS WOULD LOOK GREAT
IS BEAUTIFUL. CAN’T WAIT FOR THE FABRIC LINE AND BOOK TO ARRIVE .
DIANN
My favorite is the one with the hearts and stars, it’s very unique and striking. Can’t wait for your next book. Sounds like it’s available around my birthday, July 30. Happy Birthday to me!!
I love them all ! The colors are so beautiful together. If I had to pick a favorite, I would go with the second one. I love the use of the stars and hearts together . The colors are so rich. This quilt would look great in a rustic setting, like my family room. Thanks for your inspiration! Can’t wait for the book.
I love flannel! Living in northern Ontario flannel is our friend in the winter. I love the nine-patch pinwheels.
The others are wonderful as well. All would go well in my house as I live in a log home.
I love the little pinwheel quilt. It reminds me that soon it will be summer and how nice that would look on my bed.. can’t wait for the pattern and fabric! So simple, yet so elegant! The quilting is beautiful also… love the feathered leaves!!
I love pinwheel blocks so that’s my favorite and the quilting is beautiful on it too! They are all great though and I love flannel quilts so this will be a must have book for me!!
Oohh Lisa!! They all look great! Just what we need Down Under as we move into winter – I think I could really snuggle under the pinwheel quilt…or the fence rail…hmmm… Your beautiful book is a must!
Greetings from Northern Saskatchewan! I love the trip around the world with the appliquรฉ on it! Simply stunning!
Thanks for the chance! Love your blog
i so enjoy all your creations. I am so lucky to be able to make a small shop sample for Quilting by the Bay where I work. Sandy brought back such treasures to show us!!! I love the cream and pinwheel quilt…I am a sucker for pinwheels they just remind me of youth and summer days!! Michelle Pratt
Hello from Paris Ontario. I love the quilt with the diamond centre. It is beautiful and has a very contemporary feel to it which would appeal to many. Thanks.
Greetings from Alabama! Lisa, the quilt that caught my eye was #2. I have always loved Trip Around the World patterns – never made one but always intended to do so. Also, I love working with Flannel but haven’t done this since the 90’s when flannel was so popular in the quilting world. I am glad to see it making a come back! Back in the 90’s, the quality of flannel was not so great and it was sometimes hard to work with. I’m pleased to see how much the quality has improved since the early days. I would love to win the 1/8 yard bundle so put my name on the list please!
WOW! What a beautiful array of quilts. Can’t wait for the book to come out so I can purchase and have all of Lisa’s books.. My favorite quilts were the “Amish-style” ones with all of the wonderful quilting on them. Cudos to the two quilters. What a great job, Lisa, You have done it again.
The Black and Beige quilt is my favorite . Looks like i will be adding another project of yours to the “I have to make” pile.. Thanks for the inspiration.
They all look great – can see making most of them. Like the last one best, The quilting on some of them is fatastic. I’m new to longarm quiting and hope to some day be able to do quilt like that.
I absolutely love the Ohio Star in the gold & Maroon. The quilting on that is exquisite!. I have pre-ordered the book because there isn’t one quilt that I wouldn’t love to make and several look as if I could get them made over a weekend. Thanks so much for sharing your talents.
First thought was the quilt with the appliqued stars & hearts, tons of tiny blocks. Then, I noticed the quilting on the third one down – the mustard & burgundy star. Absolutely beautiful!! Love it!! Happy Memorial Day!
I adore the two quilts shown on the last picture. I love the idea of the contrast between the modern geometric quilt designs using “old fashioned cozy” flannel fabrics. I’m definitely going to add this treasure book to by bookshelf!
I just love the black and cream, box in a box quilt. Very classy with those colors. I love your fabric lines you have now, I can’t wait to see your flannel line. I LOVE FLANNEL!!!!!
Can’t wait to see them in person, but my favorite is between the small pinwheel quilt and the rail fence.
But they are all beautiful and the quilting is stunning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can’t wait for the new book. Love the first quilt you posted , the pinwheel one, and the one off to the left that looks like it has log cabin blocks in the background
Wow! They are all beautiful. I’m definitely going to have to get your new book. I think my favorite is the Rail Fence quilt. I can see that on my bed this fall/winter!
I love the last one with the rail fence block. It makes me want to grab a book and some wool applique and get in my chair and read and stitch the day away!
The cream pinwheel is a great quilt the quilting looks great on it also. But I really like the cream applique with the red and pink flower that is half covered, this the quilt also going to be in the book? And is it a wool applique? Great job.
Wow! They are all beautiful! I do especially like the large star, if I have to pick just one. It’s nice that you are waiting for the Moda fabric to be complete, promoting the total package!
I really like the little pillow with the bird on it. That is so cute, but my favorite large quilt was the black and tan square in a square. It is very classy.
i love the red and cheddard but i always love stars quilts and of course anything u do is good.i was there last year w gloria p and i am still talking about your store and everything fun!!!!!! sara higginbotham
Of course they are all great but I am most fond of the small pinwheels on the light background. In the picture it is hanging by your Camp Randall quilt which is on my to-do-list too!
I was lucky enuf to see them in person when our “hive of stitchers” were guests at “The Gathering”. They
are all lovely & yummy, but my favorite is still the Star in Star – the simplicity of the look with the beautifully
detailed quilting are what do it for me!!!
Absolutely love them all. My fave is the Ohio Star in Gold, Green & Maroon. The quilting in that is perfect and really puts the LOVE into the quilt! I like them all – can’t wait for your fabric to be available. Ordered the book today – saw all of these in person when our group stayed at your Retreat Home…What a wonderful experience that was! I would highly recommend that for anyone who wants to have a fun, relaxing, quilting event with their friends. Thanks for sharing with us. You are so talented.
They all look great but I am really drawn to pinwheels and I love your little pinwheels on the light background! Great job and can’t wait to see all of the new flannels.
I LOVE THE PINWHEELS BUT MY FAVORITE WOULD BE THE TREE OF LIFE YOU SHOWED BEFORE THE SHOW. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE EVER COMMENTED ONLINE. YOU INSPIRE ME
I saw all these quilts at Market and you are so right…the quilting is awesome. After looking again, I still like the Trip Around the World. The simpleness and the wool applique is my all time favorite.
They are all beautiful!!! Would have to say “Trip Around the World” with the Hearts/Stars is probably my favorite…hope show is “dreamy” as usual…Thanks Lisa for ‘sharing’ ๐
Lisa,
BEAUTIFUL!!! If I were to choose at this point it would be the cream pinwheels and the quilt next to it that you can only see a small portion of….looking forward to seeing them in Chicago!
OMG – you want me to choose which ONE I like best – I do like the checker board with the stars and circles. can’t wait to see the book with the quilts –
Good job as usual!!
Hard to pick one, but my favorite has to be the dainty pinwheels in the 9-patch setting. A real close second for me is the bold black and tan with the square-in-a-square center. Love them!
Love the pinwheel quilt. So simple yet so effective. Wanted to let you know that I did the giveaway on my blog of the kit you donated. Lots of people LOVE you!
Well….it’s hard to choose, but I have to say the floral appliquรฉ in picture #4 and then either the pinwheel or the rail fence. Will the book be available at the Long Beach show? I’m hoping to purchase then.
I love them all, but the pinwheel is wonderfully awesome. I can hardly wait for the book and fabric. Your flannels are absolutely my favorite — so soft and cuddly!
