Now if you love to work with wools and the Valdani threads this next needful thing is for you! This book is only available through Primitive Gatherings as we make them from start to finish in our own warehouse.
The book has a lot more than a place to record your threads. 
In the first section I talk about the different weights of threads, what the letters mean in front of the numbers.
Which needles to use with what threads… Lots of pages to record your three stranded flosses, 5-8-and 12 wt threads.
A little section on wool appliqué and using steam-a-seam2 light. Recommended tools for working with wool.
A section for future threads….Basic Stitch diagrams for all those embroidery stitches, with diagrams the way I stitch them.
A section to list your projects and threads you may need when you get to the quilt show or a shop…

How are you doing on your Christmas prep? I did a some decorating on Sunday and the tree last night…Here are a few pics of what the Bongean house looks like…sorry these are a little dark…but its been rainy and gloomy. God…Please send us some snow!!! Wisconsin is not good in December without any snow! The snow is very pretty…this rainy mess is not!
I’ve tried to mix it up and use some different quilts this year…I love the scrappy Christmas block quilt that the shop girls made me for Christmas one year…The Christmas Reel quilt is from one of my first fabric lines and is made extrordinary with Linda’s (thequiltedpineapple.com) quilting. The Buggy Barn crazy tree quilt I bought at a benefit action because it was going to go for so little money that I bid a decent amount for it and took it home! It was made by Nancy Dey, Kaukauna WI.
This is the first year I have not shopped for new Christmas decor…that might have something to do with moving in Feb. I will miss this house…we have been here for almost 13 years…that is the longest I have ever lived in one place on my own…Nick & I purchased Northridge when we were still working in the paper mill and before we opened Primitive Gatherings.
This looks like a terrific book to have and to keep my own records.

I would be hard-pressed to have just ‘one’ favorite part of Christmas, but the candy making I do every year is really up there pretty close to first place! I usually make double batches of 6 or 8 different candy recipes for gifts. The house just smells wonderful! Your house looks so pretty and so festive. Thank you for the giveaway – AND all you do through out the year.

Our favorite family tradition is our stockings. The original red felt with holiday appliqués and sequins was given to me when I was a baby and I have made matching ones for my husband, children, children’s spouses, grandchildren and even dogs! They are totally kitsch but we all love them and remind us of family even when we can’t be together.
Oh Lisa, your house looks beautiful. I really don’t know how you find the time for all you do. Best wishes on your move going smoothly. Yikes, I can not even imagine how much work it would be to move. Can’t wait to see photos of your new sewing space. Do you have a place all picked out for your fabric stash?
My favorite part of Christmas is time with family. I love going to church on Xmas eve and then after we all open one gift, always PJ’s or lounge wear, change into our new comfy clothes and sit in the family room with all the candles lit and tree lights and enjoy each other’s company and some cocktails. So peaceful. Wishing you a wonderful blessed Christmas and time to sit with the ones you love.

I think the best part of Christmas this year will be having our 10 month old grandson with us. Not that he’s going to understand what’s going on,but just having him around is a joy. (And it’s been lots of fun shopping for him, too! )

The best part of Christmas is seeing the joy on my grandchildren faces and being together. This year my daughter and her family are stationed overseas but we will face time with them so we can all be together that way.

For me, the best part of Christmas is family. We were an Army family for years and often didn’t have family around. Friends can be a wonderful way to celebrate, but now that my husband retired, it is awesome to live close to family. I love seeing you quilts and other decorations. Like you, other than the two ornaments I collect each year, and maybe a new quilt or two, I haven’t bought any new decorations. Thanks for the great info and for the chance to win.
Your home looks wonderful, especially with all the beautiful quilts hanging all over 😉 I love it when our son & his family come for Christmas (every time they come is wonderful) and the youngest always says…”Grandma, we can stay for 4 days” or however many they can at that time. Good morning Lisa, Your home is lovely. I love the quiet warmth of the quilts and colors. I try to use winter themes as we travel to see our son and grands over Christmas week. Snowmen, quilts,greenery, pinecones and since our name is Wood lots of birch-look candles. Our new and skinnier tree is decorated with pinecones,red berries, handmade icicles and birds. Next year I want to use Downeast Thunder’s wool birds. Have you seen her site? Amazing! I have not seen this book before but I definitely need it!! The best part of Christmas now is obviously the grandchildren, 4, 2 and 2. But it is also seeing my children interact with their children. I love being a grandmother!

I own this book and LOVE it! It has saved me money by NOT buying more of what I already own! Lol! Many times I would just buy more thread as I could not remember what I had at home – that’s not such a terrible thing but it gives me more money to spend on other things!
Thanks to you, I am a confessed “wool applique-aholic.” (That’s a good thing – I think!) Of course that means I have to try a keep track of what threads I am using for which project. I have found your wool swatch booklet valuable as it lists thread numbers that go along with your dyed wools – very handy when placing an order. This book sounds like the organization I could use. Oh LISA! We just moved before Thanksgiving after living in our little house for 17 years. We didn’t think we had a lot of stuff because we had not much storage. Moving (even with lots of help) is not for the WEAK! It is all done now and Christmas with our sons and their beautiful little daughters (we have 2 new granddaughters!) will be a chance to slow down a little. Good luck n your move! Moving is always Bittersweet, but with so much for the Bongean family to look forward to, a new house, new shop, new grand-baby, will turn into a wonderful 2016 for you all. What a handy little book to keep organized! Would love to have one of these. One of my favorite things about Christmas is sitting quietly in the evenings with the Christmas tree lit and reflecting on all the wonderful memories of Christmases past.
The best part of Christmas for me this year is having my youngest daughter at home with us. She went through some difficult times the past year but is trying to get her life back together. Proof for me that God does answer a mother’s prayer. Also thankful to have two of six grandkids near. Merry Christmas!!

Best part of my Christmas is hot chocolate and marshmallows with my grandchildren watching me stir until they can have some at their Gammy’s house. The warmth of the fire and the lights of the tree and then present guessing while the grandkids wait for Santa.

I love finding a few minutes each day to just sit and enjoy the season.
The thread book sounds like a very helpful thing! Today is my last day of work as a School Nurse as I am having foot surgery tomorrow. I had my other foot done back in June so I know what I am in for. Long recovery, but I will be patient and realize the outcome is what counts! My goal is to be sprinting by spring so I am ready for Paducah!
Christmas preparation was fun but busy as I needed to get everything done by today. All my gifts have been purchased, decorating complete, gifts wrapped, and baking done. Now I am ready to just relax, and heal, and enjoy my family! I have blocks from both last year’s and this year’s BOW ready to work on while I remain unable to walk. I have a lot to keep myself busy! My four children will be coming home for Christmas- this makes me so happy!!! My youngest, who has been in Spain(studying abroad) is coming home this weekend! I can’t wait to hear of all of her adventures! Merry Christmas to all!

This book is my favorite. It is so nice to open to the number and see if I have the color and the correct weight. It will help me avoid dupicating colors, which has been so frustrating. So fun to see your beautiful Christmas decorations. I need a primitive decorater! This Christmas our 5 kids and 12 grandkids will all be here and we are so excited. It’s been almost 6 years since we were all together. It will be crazy and chaotic with all 24 of us under one roof for 3 days, but it will be heavenly! Thanks again for all you do and have a fun Christmas with your darling grandson!

I can feel your house miss. I live in a 125 year old house that I completely renovated and it is up for sale. I know when it sells, I will be house broken, haha. I love this old house but it is way to big for two people in their seventies. Your pictures look cozy and inviting, filled with your personal touch, that’s why I love your shop so much.

That’s hard to say, but probably decorating. Sounds like it might be the same for you as well. I love getting out the quilts and woven things and cross stitch items that I have made over the years. This year I made some Santa dolls which were so fun to do and so unique. And decorating the tree with so many memories. I taught Seond Grade for many years many years ago and I still have the ornaments that kids made and gave me.
The best part of Christmas is spreading love and joy and remembering the miracle of the Savior’s birth and His love for each of us.

My favorite part of Christmas is the decorating and cooking for family and friends. This Friday I am going to enjoy some sewing time. Years ago my sister-in-law and I were always busy, busy finishing up making Christmas presents for everyone. It was so fun to chat on the phone or in letters each week to see where we were at with our gifts. Yes before email, text etc. I still make some presents..but not as many as I use to. Next year everyone will get the little wool trees on their presents.

My favorite Christmas activities are baking cookies and going out to get a beautiful tree from the woods. We usually go as a family, but this year our oldest son is in the army over in Jordan and will not be home for Christmas. We will miss being together, but my younger two will be here! One with his new bride!

What an awesome little book and I could surely use one. Lisa we just moved and closed on our house last Thursday. We had been there 13 years too. It’s the longest we had ever lived in one house. We gained 2 son-in- laws and 6 grand kids in that house. We have moved into a new duplex to live while we have our retirement home built this summer. I’m up to my eyeballs in boxes so not much Christmas around here this year. We will go find it when we make the rounds to see the kids.

The little book will be useful to record the threads I have. I write it down on a piece of paper and lose it. The best part of Christmas for me is when my son comes home. He is a pilot in the Canadian Forces. He’ll be going overseas in a couple of months so I really want to enjoy every moment with him.

The thread book would be such a great resource…i’m just starting to get into some woolie things:) The best for me is to see our kids and grandkids since we are all spread out from NYC to Nashville to MN! I agree about the snow too……bring it on!!
My second favorite thing about Christmas is getting my Christmas quilts hung. Some of them I forget I have so they’re ‘new’ all over again! The best part of Christmas will be sharing the day with my 3yo grandson and 5 month old grandson. Little Davis is full of energy and loves to show me all of the decorations he’s hung on his little Christmas tree. The little ones are so important this time of year.
The very best part is being with my kids and grandkids but before they arrive the best part for me is getting all my ornaments out and enjoying all the memories. I buy ornaments on trips and collect snowman ornaments and Texas Capital ornaments.

Christmas is my favorite time of year. Sitting by the lighted tree, rocking in my Great Grandmothers wooden rocking chair, covered up with a quilt…the time for self reflection and thanksgiving for my family and how blessed I am. It is a peaceful time for me that I am so thankful for.
I love the smell of the house with Christmas cookies baking , and my DH waiting to eat a few warms ones :0). I spend more time at my machine during Dec. now that the kids have grown. We get to see them after Christmas but we still share the fun and joy of Christmas together when we can. I am unable to pick out just one thing since the whole season makes my heart happy – the smells of baking, the sounds of singing, the sounds of laughter of family and friends, the bright colors of red and green adorning our home, the homes and lawns decorated in our neighborhood, and after the light of day is over, sitting with my hubby in the family room by the woodstove, always with my woolie needlework in hand. One of my favorite things about Christmas are the lights.. on houses, the big trees at the mall, and the Mission Inn in Riverside.
The best part of Christmas for me is just having my adult kids come home. Of course they love certain foods I make and that is one way into their hearts.
Christmas day is the best part. Each year one of my three children plays Santa, just like my Dad did, By the time we open all the gifts in my small house, my six grandsons are covered with Christmas wrapping paper and are barely visible. Everyone one is laughing like crazy. Then we sit down for the traditional Christmas meal. So much fun!
This year has been especially nice because I have three friend that I spend time with and stitch, quilt, applique, eat, always eating good stuff, and going on road trips to find wool and fabric to make not only your wonderful patterns but others too. I am so excited because I am making each gal as special gift. I have made many of your little stacked trees and had a great time. You have the best ways to use up scraps of wool. I love all the memories that decorating and baking bring back for me. My Mom is here with me in spirit as I bake and share with friends. When hubs and I put up all the decorations we remember all the times with our children who are now grown and on their own. Happily, our daughter and her husband will soon be here with us to make more good memories! Really, I love it all!
The best part of Christmas are the memories and the making of new ones with family and friends. The wonder and magic of Christmas through the eyes of a child is probably the most wonderful thing. I love bringing out all my wool projects from years past especially the old fashioned Santa mat that you designed many years ago. It always brings a smile when people see it. Love your house and the decor. The quilts are amazing. This is the first Christmas in our new home. It was fun and challenging to find new places to put all the decorations that adorned our prior home of 35 years. We do have snow, lots of it, also a new concept for us since we had lived in So. California for 44 years. Right now I’m loving it; come March, I’ll probably be ready to ship you some. In the meantime, I’m going to go broke buying all your needful things — I’ve loved everything so far. You don’t disappoint!

I love the soft light from my Christmas tree, lighted villages, and candle lamps in the windows. With the days getting shorter it warms my heart and brings me peace.

Love the little book. I must have one to keep my Valdani threads in order. That will help alot to avoid duplicates. Christmas is my favorite time of year. It’s going to be really special this year, when my granddaughter, Emma, finally gets the dollhouse that my husband made for her. He is finishing it up today-putting the doorknobs on the front door! He bought the kit for her mom, Lori, when she was eight, and never did it. That was in 1985! Ha! Well, better late than never. It’s beautiful. Merry Christmas!

Christmas is my favorite time of year, celebrating Jesus birth with family and friends, and also happens to be my fav theme of quilt to make and colors to decorate with throughout the year!
The best part of christmas is getting the house all decorated and sharing it with all my friends and family. I use quilts everywhere and they are like family every year when I get them out to put on the beds or walls.

After reading so many of the posts, the consensus is that family together makes our holidays so special.! My son was not able to be home with us for Thanksgiving as he was on a deployment over in Turkey. He made it home last week safe and sound and all is good with the world….at least my world. What ISN’T the best part of Christmas? I love it all–the lights, the music, the warmth and good cheer, and even though I am not a shopper at any time of year, I actually enjoy the bustle in the stores at Christmas. Spending time in our homes with family is definitely a highlight, but most of all I love the reason behind it all–our Savior!

Lisa, your home is lovely! Country is my favorite style, which I fell in love with after moving to Indiana from Pittsburgh long ago. Since then, we’ve also lived in Georgia and now are in Colorado & I’ve taken my country look everywhere I’ve been. My favorite part of Christmas is Christmas evening, when everything has quieted down and I can relax, enjoy Christmas movies, stare at the tree & eat more goodies!
The best part of Christmas this year will be seeing my son home on leave before he heads to South Korea for 1 to 2 years.

The best part of Christmas for me is seeing the excited faces on my grandchildren when they open their presents. Nothing better the the excitement they have. Maybe it’s because it reminds me of being little and remembering that excitement?!
All parts of Christmas are special for the season. It is a festive time of the year. However, to me I cherish Christmas Eve church service singing Silent Night with candle light glows remembering Christmas pasts. Having received the essentials as a child had more meaning than the “buy it all” times we see today.

Because she is single and works in a mental health hospital, she works Christmas so someone else can have the day with their family. So she comes home between Thanksgiving and Christmas and we celebrate Christmas then.

My favorite thing about Christmas is baking with my grandchildren & daughter, the house is all decorated, we have Christmas music on and while we bake and sing we do a little dancing in between (grandchildren are 3 and 4). I printed out your cookie recipe and have it chilling in the fridge so later today we are going to bake your cookies, I will let you know how they turn out.

The best part of Christmas is our Christmas Eve candlelight service. We are finally winding down and celebrating The Christ child’s birth. Every other year we have all of the kids here and enjoy homemade cinnamon rolls and hot chocolate on Christmas morning. This year we had them all for Thanksgiving and will only have our daughters family. Both kids are in college, so we will enjoy their Alstories. I love Christmas!!

One of my favorite things about Christmas is getting out the decorations that have been in storage all year – that includes the tree ornaments, the Nativity set and the quilts. It is like I’m being acquainted with an old friend all over again.

One of my favorite parts of Christmas is when late in the day my Christmas lights start to come on. Even though it gets dark so early in Iowa, it is a warm feeling when each timer comes on at its own time and within 10 minutes, the house is aglow in colorful lights!

Christmas for me is not about the lights, nor the decorations, nor the awesome treats or beautifully wrapped presents under the tree. It is gathering with family and friends whom we love, to make special memories & cherish our time together; and on Christmas Eve, to open our bibles and take turns reading the scriptures about the coming to earth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Truly, it is all about Him!! HE.is the very best, most important part of Christmas!

The best part of Christmas is the anticipation our children have. From getting the Christmas tree the Saturday after Thanksgiving, getting out their advent calendars to be filled to countdown to the most wonderful day of the year. To checking the cupboard making sure there are enough sprinkles to decorate the cookies and drawing names to buy that special gift for their brother or sister. And we love to sing all the Christmas songs and watch our favorite Christmas movies, (we have lots of movie nights). Our children make Christmas the best part.
