Another give-away!!!

Hi All…Did you miss me? It has been what… 2-3 days since my last post? ย I wish I could post on a regular basis more often…but I’m not Martha Stewart who has a person(s) in charge of her blog…only me…

I want to share something with you…Do you use Instagram or Facebook? FB owns Instagram so when I post to IG it automatically posts to FB..I love this…one stop posting…What I love about IG vs. blogging is thats it so easy to IG…it’s photos and a few words!!! we all love photos!!!! I Instagram almost everyday… so much more than I blog…so come on DO IT!! Use that smart phone of yours and sign up for IG go to the APP store.. its FREE, you will have 2 chances to WIN…I promise to still blog…when we have work to do and lots info to share…like our 12 Days of needful things…and give you more info…like directions here that I cannot do there…But I am there more than here…sorry if I’m confusing you…

Did I mention a give-away… I think this one is an awesome give-away!!! ย Fabric that now one else will have…well maybe one other beside you and me…so that’s three of us…IMG_5147 (1)

Do you have any Snowman Gatherings 1 or 2 fabrics? Or both??? Remember I am moving…you seen the pics of the lakehouse… So I’m slowly going through my fabric collection…

Do you know that when we design MODA fabric we get about 100 different pieces of fabric to pick 40 out of? ย So there are about 60 fabrics that never make it into the actual line…so what I’ve done is I cut up a bunch of snowman gatherings 2 that were technically never made… See these prints cut up here?IMG_5146 I bet they are not in your FQ bundle or other precuts! I cut these rare fabrics into 5″ and 2″ squares that I have added to this snowball quilt! I have two sets of about 60 5″ and 240 2″ squares to give away…I know this isn’t enough to make this quilt, but I want to give it to someone who has purchased these fabric lines and wants to add this to theirs to make this quilt…

So the pattern here is easy…I actually used a layer cake of SG1 and SG2 and then Lakeside Gatherings & Woven (FQ or F8 bundles can also be used)…I cut 2- 5″ squares plus 8-2″ squares from stacked layers…I then proceed to make the light/dark snowball blocks by stitching across the diagonal corners of the 2″ square that were placed RSTon all four corners of the 5″ squares. Remember to stitch dark 2″ on light 5″ and then reverse to stitch light 2″ on dark 5″…Simple…I then make nine patches with the snowball blocks…I pieced 30-9 patch/snowball blocks…6 rows of 5 blocks each…Here is a picture of the rows…IMG_456267 1/2″x 81″ which will be a nice lap/couch quilt, if not a twin size quilt. ย 1-10″ square = 2- 4 1/2″ finished snowball blocks or 126-10″ squares …So you need 3 layer cakes place 6 more 10″ squares to make this quilt the same size I did.

It was not my intention for this to be a selling post..but I know some of you will ask…yes, we still have some precuts of these lines…you also can use charm packs and mini charms…252-5″ charms & 1080 2″ squares.(mini charms can be cut down to 2″ & 4 mini charms packs to every charm pack you have) .I don’t know if we have 10 or 50 of anything, so first come first served… I just really wanted to give-away some rare fabric here. I know I give away lots of mini charms in my workshops!!! ย SG2 LAYERCAKEย ย &ย LAKESIDE GATHERINGS LCย  You can also check the CA store. ย Primitive GatheringsCAย ย I think they even have some SG1 still there, it may be easier to call CA ย 951-304-9787. ย I didn’t give the stores a heads up here…so I hope I don’t start mass chaos!

One set I will give away on Instagram/Facebook.. The other here…

So tell me WHY I should send these to you! Remember to make it good…these fabrics are extremely rare and only you and I and one other person in the world will own them!!!

I love this time between Christmas and New Years…I don’t get to cook often and when I do I love to try something different each time…I tried this Mexican casserole yesterday…I made a few changes as for some reason I know what will taste better…so here’s the new recipe…

Mexican Chicken Bake

2 cups of cooked brown rice- ย (measure 1 cup uncooked rice to make 2 cooked rice)

1 rotisserie chicken or about lb of cooked chicken breast cut up

2- 14.5oz cans of fire roasted diced tomatoes

14.5oz can of black beans-drained

1 red and 1 green pepper, diced up

1 cup of frozen corn

1 Tablespoon Cumin

1 Tablespoon Chili powder

4 garlic cloves, minced

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon pepper

2 cups of shredded cheese

sour cream-I like to use plain greek yogurt too.

taco sauce/hot sauce for garnish and extra flavor

Spread cooked rice on bottom of greased/sprayed 9×13 pan. ย IMG_5124

Shuck chicken meat off of the rotisserie chicken.

In a large mixing bowl, combine all ingredients except cheese. ย Spread over rice.IMG_5125

Cover with tinfoil and bake at 375 degrees for 45 min.

Spread cheese on top and bake for another 15 min at 300 degrees.IMG_5137

Serve with sour cream/greek yogurt and hot sauce/taco sauce.

my best…LB

I would like to enter the giveaway. I do have some of the line but not for myself. I have a friend who loves blue and is so giving that I purchased the line to make something for her. Now I know what to make and it would become even more personalized if it included fabric that was unique. My Friend, Becky is always doing for her family and friends but does not have anything hanging on her quilt racks for herself. I would love to be able to do this for her. Love your blog and love seeing your booth in Madison, Wisc.

OK so here is my reason Please please please please please please please!!!!! I have purchased over 20 yards of the little snowman face and 20 yards of the snowmen fabric – everytime I make it to your store I purchase some and from the store around us (Ben Franklin). When I find fabric that I fall in love with I make sure that I have lots of it!!!! I never want to run out of it – yes I do use it I am not a hoarder (even though my husband thinks I am heehee). Hi Lisa,
Thanks for such a super awesome giveaway. I don’t have a ‘good’ reason why you should award me the rare fabric. I’ll just say I would be so honored to have it. I know this may sound ‘odd’ but. . . I just found out about your store, blogs, etc about 1.5 years ago. Since then, I’ve followed your ‘stuff’ because it is the primitive style I adore. Guess I was living under a rock – ha! Anyway, i would be honored to win. Happy New Year.

Snowman Gatherings is one of my all time favorite fabric lines! I have four charm packs and various other half yard cuts lovingly stored waiting for that perfect project. Lakeside Gatherings was my passion last year and the yellow in that collection makes me swoon! Snowman II made me so happy to be able to add to my Primitive Gatherings stash (along with Holiday Gatherings and others)! And lastly you never make it to the Atlanta shows, you always send your fabulous team but then your southern fans don’t get to meet you! Thanks for sharing your time and talent with all of us!

Why I should win these fabrics? Because I never win anything! I am sure others can say that too. I think it would be a rare treasure to own fabric that only 2 other people own. What an heirloom that would be! Someone will be very lucky. Thank you for being so generous.

My snowman fabrics are getting used and I’m needing to replenish the supply. Would love to include some rare prints in the mix. Besides, if I win I would send you some soap. You’re right IG is easy! I started following you before quilt market last year. I couldn’t be there but I could get a peek of what’s new through IG posts.
I just prepped my snowman gatherings 2 fabric before Christmas. I wanted to be ready for a winter project. I would love to win your “2 of a kind” fabric! Winters here in WI are long and the more fabric the bigger and longer the project can be. It helps the time go faster until warmer weather.
Thanks for the recipe. We’re big fans of Mexcian food in our house so I will definitely try your dish.

I actually have the snowball quilt pattern taken from a magazine waiting to be started. Love the simple design and all the blues in your fabric line. I also wanted to say that I love your accounts of the progress of your house, pretty colors and I bet it will be fabulous when you are finished.

I have made several of the patterns that came out with both the SG1 and SG2. I LOVE the lines. You always do such a great job with the pattern and scale and colors. I have been trying to straighten and really have no need of more fabric. But when has need ever played a part in what we buy and make. I have always enjoyed your talent and your patterns are very well written. You are an inspiration. Susan W. in Utah

OH MY! I would LOVE to win the fabric give-away because I have been collecting Snowman Gatherings charm packs since they first came on the market. I am saving up to make a queen size quilt and almost used them this year to make a jacket instead because it is taking me so long to get all the packs I need. I am up to seven packs now and the rare addition would be wonderful. If I do not win I will just have to keep collecting.
Who knows maybe I will be making the quilt with S. G. X-XI! Do you think I should arrange the blocks in chronological order????

She worked hard and made a beautiful quilt. She entered it in the Open European Quilt Championship in Maastricht, the Netherlands, and she won an award of merit! I’m so proud of her!! Wow! What an thrill it would be to win this fabric. This year I have a plan to do 12 small quilts for my dining room walls after I paint it a I have already just about narrowed it down to snowflake gardens for January. This fabric would help out to complete this (I know you are saying why should I give her the fabric when she is going to buy it anyway) Just know, this would help me out and I would be thrilled. When I took a workshop from you when you came to Cincinnati in August I did win one of those mini charms that night when you visited our quilt guild. I was so excited. You would have thought I won gold. Here is one more thing I want to ask of you – I have asked numerous times and leave everyone stumped. YOu passed around a scissor keeper made of wool for the 5 in. Dovo scissors. I hollered out to you where do I get that pattern and you hollered back in my next book. Your next book has come out and it is not in there. I got a gift of the 3 1/2 in. scissors for Christmas and a gift card and I plan to use it for the 5 inch dovos. Can you help me out there. So if I can find where to purchase the pattern for that scissor keeper I will consider myself a winner. And yes, I do miss your blogs. Would love to read one every day but do understand. Lisa, just when I think “wow how can Lisa be more generous” you post this. I’ve been following you on Instagram for awhile but I haven’t really figured it out completely. I’ve got a little bit from both SG1 and SG2 because I love snowmen and I’ve been wondering what to make with them now I know a “snowball” quilt! I would love to add some of the ones from the original run to my collection. Also, thank you for the casserole it actually looks like something I can accomplish… Sending you hugs and I’ll see you at Road to CA… Liz

Oh this is the cutest quilt! Love the fabrics! I know that I don’t need another project, nor am I low on my stash of fabrics, but the idea of having some “one of a kind” fabric is super cool! I would be nice and share with a special quilting friend of mine. She would be very surprised. She is always the first to get quilting projects completed. I, on the other hand, take forever.

Why should I be one of only three people to have these? Let’s see, I’m an extremely rare person as I am only one of twelve people to have my rare birth defect. Being such makes me as rare as these fabrics so I think they would be a perfect fit with me. I have purchased both Snowman Gatherings collections and am hoping there will be a number III. Can you tell I fell in love with them the instant I saw them. I am also currently working on the Fat Quarter Shop’s 2015 Designer Mystery BOM that features Snowman Gatherings II and have enough left over fabric to combine with these for a quilt.

I’m a huge Snowman Gatherings fan and having never released fabrics would be like a Star Wars fan getting the original prototype of the Millennium Falcon model that was used in the first Star Wars or a Marilyn Monroe fan being gifted the dress she wore when she sang Happy Birthday to JFK.

Oh my, what an awesome gift for someone… Well, lets see, I have all of Snowman Gatherings II and most of Snowman Gatherings (well, technically I have it all since I have several charm packs and 2 mini charms, but not yardage of everything) and most of Lakeside (all conversationals in all colors plus a few others in yardage & charm pack and mini) and all of the conversationals from Seasonal LIttle Gatherings, all colors of the sheep from Old Glory gatherings…..I think I have every conversational you’ve ever done plus lots of companion fabrics for most lines. I post about your lines on my blog , regularly–I also have them all on 3 X 5 inch cards: 2 1/2″ squares sewed on with line name (and pattern #), your name, Primitive Gatherings, Moda and year (I have to guess on some years.) Which brings to mind–could you print the years for each of your lines one of these days! What a treat to have some of these not actually printed for sale.

So I think I will use the sympathy card now, last year my life changed dramatically, I was feeling great I went for a routine checkup with my oncologist since I had been treated for a lymphoma two years prior, and my cancer had reoccurred and my only option since I had received a prior round of chemo was to enroll in a clinical trial that will last for two and a half years, the first six months I underwent chemo every four weeks and had a three day course, now it is one day every eight weeks. I had to quit my job as a nurse, I have had to make dramatic changes in my lifestyle, I was very sick, tired and also had the shingles because my immune system is shot. I have always enjoyed piecing, I have dabbled in long arming but have decided that my passion is piecing and hand sewing, I feel like I have stalked you for the last couple of years, I love your designs, i love your fabric, I love the honesty and strength you exhibit in your blogs, I love every picture you post on Instagram, I love how generous you are with yourself and that your business is your extended family. I have jokingly mentioned in your needlefull blog comments that I would love to be a “stitcher” for you but second best thing would be to win some fabric from your rare collection that I could use. This is going to be my year to do some serious piecing since my treatments have spaced out and I am feeling better. I have decided I need to make all my kids a quilt and one of my kids loves snowman so this would be perfect. I also have some great new “toys” to use from your needful list. So thank you for this wonderful give away and for everything you do to make the quilting world a better, very fun hobby.

There is no quilt shop in my area. I must order any of the newer lines. This would be a TOTAL surprise as I haven’t seen any of the SG lines in person. Thanks for the chance and recipe๐Ÿ˜Š

I have fabric from both of the Snowman Gatherings lines, and having prints that did not make it into production would be a wonderful addition to a quilt that could legitimately be called “one of a kind”. What I love about the Snowman Gatherings fabrics is that I can make quilts that can be used throughout the entire winter season, which can be rather long here in Minnesota.

    Lisa,
Thank you for the Mexican chicken/rice casserole recipe. I made chicken tacos with similar ingredients just before Christmas so I can’t wait to try yours. It will be delicious!
While I do not deserve to win your fabrics any more than anyone else, I can honestly tell you that people who know me know that my favorite style of fabrics are mini prints and “snowmen”(I had even stenciled my extra bathroom a number of years ago in snowflakes with small snowmen quilts :)), my favorite colors are the blues/ grays, and I do have fabrics left from SG1, a bundle of SG2, and several of your snowman patterns yet to do. It would be amazing to win your “extras” to include in my next project. They would be very appreciated & definitely used with my other SG fabric. Happy New Year! Enjoy your beautiful new lake home!

When your post popped up in my inbox, I saw that quilt photo and ooohed and aaahed over it for a while before I read a word. I love how such a simple block can be so effective in the right fabrics. I have some Snowman Gatherings 1 and 2 in my stash and now have to debate whether to use it for this pictured quilt or the Warm Winter Blessings pattern I bought along with the fabric. Such happy decisions to make. Happy, happy New Year!

Well, you did say these fabrics are rare. So I thought – hmmm…you know what else is rare? I have been making quilts since 1997 and I have NEVER made a quilt for myself, ever. I have made them for family, shut-ins, friends and those who just needed someone to know they loved them. But not once have I made a quilt just for me. So that, along with those beautiful fabrics, is a double rare thing! (and did I mention, the colors match my eyes? Just saying!)

But to mark this goal of his degree and being and a cop I would like to continue the theme making a snowman quilt.

I’ve lived in Wisconsin 24 years without making a snowman quilt! Your big snowman quilt (the one that says Jace) is getting started right after the holidays. Thanks for all you do for us – I really enjoyed making all the ornaments this year.

Several years ago, I made a snowman Christmas tree skirt for a friend, at her request. I hadn’t really paid much attention to snow-themed fabric adventures until that project, but since then, I’ve grown to love the wintry snowman theme so much, that every winter I decorate my sewing room with a snowman wall hanging, stuffed snowmen, tiny white lights and snowy garland. It’s beautiful, peaceful and happy, and I love it.

These special fabrics would be such a wonderful addition to my sewing room. They’d look great and they’d be so meaningful!
