FRIVOLS!

Did you know I have a Frivols tin? ย Do you know what a Frivols tin is?

CT-Frivol-Contents

They are cute tin boxes that feature a little quilt made with a current MODA fabric line. ย There are 12 total…Mine is number 7! ย Lucky no. Seven…that’s ME…Lucky to be able to share my love of fabric with my MODA fabric lines!!!! ย Each tin has fabric to make a little quilt. Moda…has put together this project, its packaging and they are just so cute…I love to collect tins…to store all kinds of quilty goodies in…

So this tin features my current fabric line called Songbird Gatherings and here is the little quilt that this little bundle makes! ย It is 28″x 28″, a nice size. You also get some kind of treat…like the cracker jack prize! ย This one contains a little sheath for your scissors…with MODA on it!!! Someone also said some pretty nice things about Lisa Bongean in this pretty box…made me choke up a bit!!!IMG_5855lisabbongeanOh..one more thing…each of ย the Frivols tins come with a block pattern and our selvage quote on it too! How fun is it to collect selvages with quotes on them!!! This quote is one of my favorites and how fitting for Songbird Gatherings!IMG_3921 (2)…if you collect all 12 tins you will have a little sampler quilt too…here are some of the blocks from the previous six tins. ย If after reading this post if you MUST have one of these limited edition tins…you can get yours HERE

As long as I have your attention… I’m going to show you the fabrics in the Songbird Gatherings collection or range, as Jen Kingwell would say..she’s an Aussie..they say fabric range…like we say fabric line or collection…just thought I would educate you, when you get to take that trip down under..IMG_6119IMG_6120IMG_6121IMG_6123As you can see the colors and the prints are VERY nice! If you HAVE to have any of these prints they are all available on our site HERE…along with all the precuts!!!images-5Also…here are couple of quilts made with the Songbird Gatherings line…

Star Crossed which I was making when Dru, from the CA store, was visiting us here in WI. ย Here we are at the retreat house in our jammies!!

Dru is here fixing one of my blocks that had a slight variation than the others…IMG_3958 (1)Then here is a closeup of Nine Patch Melody…very simple, but very stunningIMG_4125As you can see the photos on the patterns are always much brighter than in real life..

Then there is Whirlwind Flight…hanging in the Market Booth 2015.IMG_4109 (2)

I also take in progress photos…some are so fun!!!IMG_3886 (1)These pinwheels are 2″ here…1 1/2″ finished in the blocks…images-3We still have some previously offered (1-6 ) ย Moda designer tins available at both our stores…just visit our sites…some may even be on sale!!! ย Wisconsin ย  Californiaย

Did I mention…I love my MODA sisters…Spring Market is next month and I can’t wait to hang out after all the hard work we do to get ready!!! We always have a great time, especially at the Moda party, which I call the stress relief party!

Now this was one long post…so to reward you…do you want to win a tin? ย I’m sure Moda sent me something to give away and I’ll sweeten it up a bit too!!! Share with me what YOU think I should design next for a ย fabric line? colors, theme or whatever!!!…I’m thinking this will be fun to read and see if we think the same!!! Now keep in mind…I have some already in the works, so it really won’t be the next…but future…I will also do a give-away on Instagram this weekend too and another post about…something Frivolous I do!

Well the fun must come to an end and I must pack for MI…you will read this while I’m already there…all for now…LB

I love the Frivols. In response to your request for ideas for a fabric line…..I think about your lake house and the anchor that sits in the cove. I think about designs that would incorporate the beauty of all that and colors that you see when the sun comes up or sets on the water.

I was thinking about greens, maybe with yellows, and first thought, Grandma’s Gatherings, since you are so smitten with your little buddy! Greens and yellows instead of pink and blue, would cover everyone’s needs! I was also thinking about children …Storytime Gatherings?

We have a second home in the Hiawatha National forest in the UP of MI. You are the best with clever names, but I would love a line with greens, yellow, and red. Red is a neutral in my life, but I once had this medium yellowish green with a tiny bit of yellow and red in the tiny print. That fabric made me so happy everytime I found a place to use it – mostly appliquรฉ designs. It was a sad day when it was all gone – every scrap! I could see some soft greens to go with the medium yellow green. A red with a small print – maybe black. Throw in a cheddar with tine red and green. Oh my!!!

  55. Mary Andra Avatar

I would love to see teddy bears, kites, wagons, a town home parade, maybe a frog or two. Celebrating a family growing with little ones. Adding blue. Then the other half of the line could be dolls, a carriage or stroller, included in the parade, maybe a pin wheel or two. Adding pink. Thank you for allowing me to dream. Hope to see you soon. 58. Nancy Avatar

I know you probably have to go with popular colors, at least to some extent, but I would love to see some dark teal fabrics, some greens that cross the line between army green and bronze, and more of your great light fabrics with tiny prints. I have a antique quilt that has been hand down to me. Not sure of the original colors but now it looks pink and grey. I love the fresh look. Prints are tiny and the grey is a shirting. Recently I needed a red homespun and could not find it anywhere in Ga. My quilt shop told me they were not making much homespun anymore. I love the little tin idea. I like to buy little kits like that and take them to the cottage to work on and use them for Christmas gifts. I would like to see a fabric line from you that has to do with summer at the cottage. Like, log cabins, trees, bears, moose, fishing. I have had some fabric like that but the way you design fabric, I know it would be so much better.

Lisa, I love the Songbird line of fabrics, especially the little birds. I love these little conversation prints/shirtings, they are just so cute. And I would like to see more. What about a fall themed line (not that I want fall to arrive as I am still waiting for spring). But prints that have different leaves and/or mushrooms. Whatever you do it will be fabulous.

Thank you for offering us a “giveaway.” I like everything you do so I don’t know that I can offer much as a suggestion but maybe something with tan, cheddars, brown, little green, maybe some orange but not Halloween orange. Can’t believe I am not suggesting something with RED since that is my favorite color and you do red very well. What about something with an Americana theme…then I get my red!

I’ve loved all of the Gatherings lines, but one of my favorites was an early line of all browns/neutrals (can’t remember the name of the line). I love the small prints, so since you’ve done miniature gatherings, how about another line of even smaller prints called ‘Petite Gatherings’ or ‘Minnow Gatherings’ (to go with the lakehouse) or ‘Itty-Bitty Gatherings’. I better focus on my work now! Thanks for the opportunity.

Maybe even make one of your prints on a larger scale to be used as a border. Love everything you do and thanks for the awesome giveaway.

I love everything you do. Was so excited to see you in Hampton. Hope you will be back. I absolutely love it when you design quilts that feature gardens, birds, etc. keep it up.

I loved working on the SBOW from 2014 because it combined wool applique with a decent amount of piecing each week. I could use some practice on my small piecing (like the Frivol). I’ve realized it doesn’t have to look perfect to enjpy the end result!

Love the Frivols tins. I would love to win yours, it’s beautiful!! I’ve always loved to collect tins and decorative boxes. It’s a good way to store kits and fabric and the hubby doesn’t think you have so much when he can’t see it.
LOL. I would love an autumn line of fabric. Fall is my favorite time of year and the colors are fabulous. You are amazing and so generous. Thanks for the chance at winning. Have a great weekend. Karen M

I would love to see a line of brights that have coordinating wools to go with. When I was at the retreat house last month, I stopped in the store and a staff person and I couldn’t find light or medium blues in plaid. The gave me the idea that you should do a a line of wool brights in textured prints. So bright cottons and bright wools.

I have always been attracted to the primative look of homespun fabrics….especially in the reds, mustards and blues. Something harvest or Christmas would be beautiful…especially with applique! I love your design style…such a great talent!
