Blockhead Block 1

It’s week no. 1!!! Today Lynne from Kansas Trouble Quilts has posted her Whirligig block!!!  You need to go there for the pattern…I have taken fabrics from all of us and mixed them up…making blocks scrappy!!!  I love using everyone fabrics!!! We don’t get to do this very often…so it’s exciting!!!   I  am using Aurifil 2370 to piece these blocks together….Make sure you starch your fabrics before cutting as these are 6″ blocks!!  They will come out much better if this is done…

Then I am making another set of blocks from my newest fabric line…Liberty Gatherings…I can’t wait till my week to show you how I am going to set my blocks…so look for that…My first block is block 5…If you want to make a beautiful patriotic version you can purchase fabric like the block shown….you can buy a LAYERCAKE if you want to make the just the blocks…but if you want more fabric for setting them…buy a FQ TOWER...and again I will show you on Block 5 how I’m going to set them…I used Auriful 2310 to stitch with the Liberty Gatherings fabrics…

Happy Piecing!!!

my best

Lisa

I looked at the first block, and did not see cutting instr. Or sizes of pieces. Did I miss something?

Love the patriotic version. Is a fat quarter bundle sufficient for the entire collection of designers’ blocks?

Could you please do a post about starching the fabrics? Do you use spray starch and how to you apply it and how much do you use and do you air dry it or heat dry it, etc. Do you apply it to yardage before you cut the pieces? Also, some friends told me that bugs (moths?) love to eat fabric with starch on it and never to use it for quilts. Have you ever heard something like that?

      yes…i will do a post…just need a camera man…promise though…
the starch now days is not made from cornstarch..which is what the bugs liked…
