Fall, Anyone?

Today is beautiful. The humidity has lifted, the rain has stopped, and it is a wonderful morning to post. We are packed for a North Carolina Retreat. Today is the show opening for WI Quilt Expo in Madison, WI and I have my first border completed on Twilight Garden… Lots of things to celebrate!

I will be teaching these awesome fun wool projects in NC and I thought it was the perfect time to release them for everyone. I made them as pillows but they could also be framed, used as the center of a quilt, or as a festive wall hanging or banner. There are separate patterns for these projects because it is easier to kit them that way. Let’s take a look!

As I’ve mentioned so many times in the past, I find that one of the easiest ways to decorate for the holidays in a fast and easy way is pillows! It literally takes minutes to swap them out for the current season/holiday, and they’re super easy to store. Plus, you can mix and match and interchange them from room to room! If all of these factors appeal to you, perhaps my Personalized Jack-O-Lantern Pillows are just what you’re looking for this Halloween! Shown below, this pattern comes with a complete alphabet set so you’re able to customize the lettering however you please! Finished size can vary – choose either 15″ x 15″ or 15″ x 19″ – either way the sky is the limit on how many different things you can say with this pillow.

Like the look of these but want something a bit longer to balance them out? Also customizable with the full alphabet included, my “Happy Halloween Pillow” is the perfect fit! This fun addition to the trio is the largest of the bunch at 15″ x 28″.

If you love the idea of personalizing your pillows, be sure to also check out my “Happy Fall” pillow pattern as well! This vintage farmhouse style jack-o-lantern is done with a more neutral color palette and finishes at 15″ x 15″. The full alphabet is included in the pattern!

All three of the above projects are done with wool appliqué on flannel. You can use the flannel to make your pumpkin glow or leave it out, and let the flannel show through for a more neutral look. If you’re not huge into Halloween you can also skip the jack-o-lantern faces and just do simple pumpkins to give it a more seasonal and less holiday feel. Do what you like and make it work for you. After all, it’s your project!

In addition to pillows, table mats are another fast and fun way to spruce up your seasonal décor. One of my favorites to bring out every year is “Old Crow and Company.” This pretty mat comes in two versions – one with traditional jack-O-Lanterns perfect to house your Halloween candy bowl, and one with a lighter set of pumpkins more suited for overall Autumn décor.

As long as we’re here, I might as well show you some of my other Autumn designs that are also available on our website. “Autumn’s Glory Table Mat,” “Autumn Table Mat,” and one of my most popular patterns of all time, “Pumpkin Table Mat.” are all excellent options for an addition to your Autumn décor repertoire.

There are several more to show off, but I’ll save some or another post…

After I finished my border last night I decided to “play” around with the pumpkins to come up with more ideas for you. Sorry, but this one is staying at MY house and not going to the show or shop – he’s mine! Guess you’ll just have to make your own. No worries though. They are easy to stitch and can be done quickly. I stitched this one in about an hour, then got up early this morning and made my pillow complete with hidden zipper.

I truly love all the pumpkins, they’re the perfect fall project! I also love the cheddar quilt you used in the background of the pictures. Any chance we can see more of it and is this one you made or an antique?
