One more sleep…and the magical day is here…

Day 1 Juki & Accessories

Now this post is the same as it has been for the last couple of years….but by far the most IMPORTANT Needful Thing there is…without this machine I would not be half the Quilter I am today…read why…

Every year so far people askโ€ฆWill you please do the Juki again this year?โ€ฆ. so here it is AGAIN!โ€ฆ..by popular demandโ€ฆAND you could win yours free!!!

Now I know we pretty much all have a sewing machineโ€ฆor two or three or even moreโ€ฆBut I just have to talk about the sewing machine I use 99% of the timeโ€ฆIt is my #1 Needful thingโ€ฆMost of you probably have never heard of Jukiโ€ฆso let me just say they are not new to the marketโ€ฆJuki is well known in the garment industry and are mostly industrial machines. I think I have had a Juki for about 10 years nowโ€ฆI also own 2 Berninas, 1060 and a 1530, and a couple of featherweightsโ€ฆone black and one white. I confess this to you so you also know what I am comparing to and you all know I teach all across the country and have stitched on many machines.

I bought the Juki with the intention to use it as a second machine to have set up for machine quilting my little quilts, and also so I didnโ€™t have to change the walking foot from my regular foot on my Berninaโ€ฆthat would have been nice, right?โ€ฆJuki has entered the quilt world with a semi-industrial machine for quilters. Here are a few of the features that the Juki machines haveโ€ฆall metalโ€ฆno plastic bobbins, no plastic feet, comes with all sorts of feet including 2 free motion feet and a walking foot, a larger 9โ€ณ opening between the body and the arm, so machine quilting would be easier to handle. It has a nice extension table, this is nice for retreats, I have it embedded in my table usually. The machine ONLY stitches straight. Now this might be an issue for some, but I was only going to use this for machine quiltingโ€ฆThe fact that it only stitches straight is actually a plusโ€ฆnice tension all the time, single hole throat plate . It holds large cones as well as regular threadโ€ฆIt has an automatic thread cutter, automatic needle threader , knee lift and stitches 1500 stitches per minute or something like that, in other words it is FAST. It comes with a walking foot and other feet for doing free motion quiltingโ€ฆI use the regular foot and stitch up against a bumper to get a scant quarter inchโ€ฆ Here are all the particulars from the manufacturer:

The Juki TL-2010Q is a high-performance sewing and quilting machine. The TL-2010Q is a single needle, lock-stitch, portable machine, constructed of aluminum die-casting to ensure industrial-quality sewing.

With advanced features, such an industrial sub-tension system, variable speed control slider, and bright white LED lighting, this machine is built for precision sewing. With a large work area of up to 23 inches (with auxiliary table attached), the TL-2000Qi can handle large quilt, sewing or home decor project with ease.

Advanced Thread TrimmingJuki_TL-2010Q_FootControllerjuki_tl-2010q_footcontroller
The New TL-2010Q allows you to trim top and bobbin threads using the Exclusive foot controlled trimming system.

Just rock your heel back on the foot control, and thread is quickly and precisely cut.

Automatic Thread Trimmer Juki_TL-2010Q_ThreadTrimmerjuki_tl-2010q_threadtrimmer
The machine is also equipped with an automatic thread button that simultaneously trims the needle and bobbin threads at the sewing end by lightly pressing the push-button.

Both the Trim Button and the Foot Controller engage the advanced Juki industrial style thread trimming mechanism.

No More Twists or QuiversJuki_TL-2010Q_SubTensionUnitjuki_tl-2010q_subtensionunit
The Sub Tension Unit ensures thread feeding to the needle is smooth, even and twist free, no matter how thick your thread is.

It also keeps the thread from quivering when sewing at high speeds and provides accurate, fine tuned thread tension.

Thread Tension ScaleJuki_TL-2010Q_ThreadTensionjuki_tl-2010q_threadtension
The machine also has the thread tension scale, which allows you to adjust the tension according to the thread and material to be used.
Maximum Speed ControlJuki_TL-2010Q_SpeedControl
The new speed control lever gives you complete control over sewing speed.

Set the speed from 200 to 1500 stitches per minute, or any speed in between for free motion, and precision sewing.juki_tl-2010q_speedcontrol

Materials are sewn with Ease
The microcomputer controlled, speed control mechanism, allows the machine to sew materials at low speeds. This provides for accurate feed and perfect stitching when sewing heavy weight fabric, quilting and multiple layers of materials.

PresseJuki_TL-2010Q_PressureFootr Foot Pressure Adjustmentjuki_tl-2010q_pressurefoot
Presser foot pressure can be adjusted according to the fabric being sewn by turning a regulator located on the top of the machine.

Needle Up/Down ControlJuki_TL-2010Q_StopPositionjuki_tl-2010q_stoppositionWhen you stop sewing, the machine will stop with the needle in the down position to allow for pivoting or more accurate free motion work.

To move the needle up or down as desired, simply press the needle up/down button.

Truly Illuminatingjuki_tl-2010q_ledlightThe new, bright-white LJuki_TL-2010Q_LEDLightED lighting, provides an illuminated view of the sewing area and allows for more precise sewing.

The push lever automatic needle threader easily threads the needle without eyestrain and allows you to start sewing quickly.

A new bobbin case latch and an enlarged bobbin case area make it easier to remove and replace the bobbin.

Nothing Free Motion Quilts Better Than ย Juki quilting feetquiltingfeet
Jukiโ€™s rich tradition in quilting continues with the TL-2010Q.

The feed dog can be raised and lowered simply by depressing a switch. When quilting, the drop feed allows you to sew curved stitches with precision and ease.

Juki 1/4 Inch and 1/5 Inch Quilting Feet
The quilting feet are designed for free motion quilting and free-hand embroidery. Just lower the feed dogs and stitch away.

Juki Even Feed Foot Juki_TL-2010Q_FeedFootjuki_tl-2010q_feedfoot
With its reliable feed, the even feed foot ensures the machineโ€™s ability to produce beautiful seams when sewing difficult-to-feed fabrics such as georgette and velvets, as well as heavy weight materials such as leather.

juki_tl-2010q_kneelifterKnee Lifter Lever Juki_TL-2010Q_KneeLifter
The knee lifter level allows you to lift/lower the presser foot without using your hands. The presser foot can be raised as high as 12mm.

After stitching on this machine and using it. I did not want to stitch on anything else. It โ€œpiecesโ€ beautifullyโ€ฆI didnโ€™t have to hang on to my threads at the start, the feed dogs are nice and close together and fed my little pieces in nicely. Having the single hole meant my piecing wasnโ€™t sucked down into that oblong holeโ€ฆ and againโ€ฆI could stitch, cut my thread with my foot(or there is a button, but I like my hands free to hold on to my patches) knee lift my presser foot and be on to the next thingโ€ฆI especially love piecing triangle paper on the Juki for all the reasons I just statedโ€ฆNow I know being fast really should not be an issue, right? We want to be accurate! But let me tell you, if I am stitching strips, borders or you name itโ€ฆfast is handyโ€ฆI tried going back to my โ€œregularโ€ machine to piece onโ€ฆit was almost painful!!! Just shoot meโ€ฆI loan this machine at The Gathering, but it comes with a warningโ€ฆif you stitch with it you WILL be going home with it! I think only one person didnโ€™t buy one after she stitched on it for a weekendโ€ฆlolโ€ฆThey also have updated the Juki recentlyโ€ฆI have a TL98Q (old model at home) and the new modelTL2010 Q1 I have in the studio, they have updated to an LED lightโ€ฆthey have added a Turtle and a Hare button, if you want to control how fast it can goโ€ฆand they changed the foot pedal, a bitโ€ฆI love both of them and even though they are slightly different I can stitch on both on them with no problem even though they have slightly different foot pedals and controls.

So if you are ever in the market for a machine, please check out the Jukiโ€™s and you can read all the technical words I should have used to explain it. I sell only the Juki 2010Q1 at my store in WIโ€ฆI could sell other machines but remember what I said, I only sell what I useโ€ฆtherefore I sell the Jukiโ€™s. I am placing the Juki 2010Qi on sale now until the end of the year at a special of $899-(yesโ€ฆnot a typo $948.95 if you are in WI we have to add tax) which includes shipping too. This is a great deal. We will order more for this same price as long as you order before the end of the year. JUKI In 2017 they will go back to $999.00 still a great price when you think about what you all get with this machine! Please allow a few weeks for deliveryโ€ฆ. ย Your card will be charged as soon as you place your order with out new compliant cc processing. If you are the winner we will be crediting your card back.

SCANT 1/4โ€ณ FOOT

So for those of you who have a JUKI already andy maybe missed this last year when JUKI finally made a SCANT 1/4โ€ณ foot. Here is my article about itโ€ฆ

I have to admitโ€ฆI was skepticalโ€ฆbutโ€ฆI was happily surprisedโ€ฆI stitched a mini quilt..and it was amazingโ€ฆI tried to derail it by trying to run over a dog earโ€ฆno wouldnโ€™t do it!!! I first put my foot on and it was perfectly lined up with my usual tape bumperโ€ฆso off came the tapeโ€ฆI happily stitched this whole mini and was very pleased! ย The only thingโ€ฆyou have the put the other regular foot on when doing triangle paperโ€ฆI managed to do TP with it on, but it was very difficulty to seeโ€ฆand I will not do it againโ€ฆย we have them on sale for $45.OO .images-phpimg_9120

This year we also have added an FRONT OPEN TOE FOOTโ€“ This is for machine quiltingโ€ฆwe all love this foot because there is no obstruction of view while quiltingโ€ฆmuch nicerโ€ฆ

We also have a bunch of Accessories for our machine…they are..

Bobbins- set of 10

Magnetic Bobbin Holder

Oil Spout

They are under the same category as the machine…so they are easily orderable.

Last year we sold over 50 machinesโ€ฆ If we make it over 50 this yearโ€ฆone of you who purchases will get theirs FREE too!!! Those odds are pretty good!!!

I will be posting the winner for the machine AND all the other winners here on NEW YEARS DAY โ€ฆ

Click HERE to Order your JUKI and/or accessories

If you are the proud owner of a Jukiโ€ฆplease let comment and let everyone her know about it!!! ย So I donโ€™t look like a just a salesmanโ€ฆI do not have time to be a sewing machine storeโ€ฆbut I know the importance of have a great machineโ€ฆand one you do not have to sell your soul for, so I only advertise them once or twice a yearโ€ฆ.I will give an FRONT OPEN TOE FOOT- or a 1/4″ FOOT to a Juki owner if you take the time to tell us about it hereโ€ฆI know we are all so busy…but I appreciate your imput…

I bought my 2010Q Juki last year as did my friend and her daughter after hearing me RAVE about it!!! I love, love this machine for all the reasons Lisa mentioned, even sold my Bernina 1260….one of the best machines Bernina ever made. I have another machine for fancy stitches, but the majority of my stitching is on the Juki!
This is a wonderful machine, so user friendly!!!

I ordered my Juki from you a few Christmases ago and love it. Did not get rid of my other two machines, so friends and family can use them when we get together to sew. But the Juki is my choice over the others. Will order the scant 1/4โ€ foot to make life that much easier! Thank you Lisa and crew…Merry Christmas!

I have this machine and it sews wonderfully. I use it mostly for quilting my small projects. I wonโ€™t publicly admit how many others I have and use! I do have a little trouble with the needle threader and would appreciate helpful hints on this. Once this machine is set up it never gets put away.

I bought my Juki the first year you put them on sale at Christmas and I love it. Once you are used to the thread cutter alone, it would be torture to be without it. I have the 1/4 inch foot but not the open to one. I bet it is handy. This machine is a workhorse and fast and I’ve never had to monkey with it. Oh, I did have to fix the needle threader once but used a You Tube video and did it myself! You will never regret buying this machine.

The Juki sounds wonderful. My question is can you easily carry it to classes &/or retreats? I have a Janome that I love but itโ€™s big & can be awkward to tote around. My sister told me she recently saw a used Juki in a shop & was told theyโ€™re rarely traded.

You have convinced me that the next machine I get will be the Juki. I love your designs and all you have to offer. Your booth at Quilt Festival is a favorite. You set up amazing displays and I always find new projects. I look forward each year to your events-SBOW, and both of your Christmas web events. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

I totally agree–sewing on the Juki is great! If anyone is on the fence, don’t worry–you will love it! I also have a Bernina and a featherweight and use my Juki exclusively when I am at home. My Bernina is packed up and only used at retreats because it is easier for me to move around, but I am seriously considering taking my Juki instead. I’ve had it for over five years and it’s one of the best investments I’ve ever made.

I am the owner of a Juki and I love it!! I treated myself to a Mother’s Day Sale Lisa had a couple years ago. I had been in the market for a new machine and had been trying this and that out, but this won hands down and the sale made it even sweeter. I use straight stitch 99% of the time and this is perfect for this. It is a workhorse.

I love my Juki!! I took a machine quilting class this past year, and was one if the few people not fighting the tension! My friend has a super expensive computerized machine. We took a class together, and there was a lot of fusible to sew through. Her expensive machine jammed over and over again. I insisted she try it on mine. She left my house wanting a Juki. I would not trade my Juki for any other machine.

I’ve had this Juki for 4 years and love it. I first bought it for machine quilting. My Bernina just didn’t have the ability to quilt like this machine.I used my other machines for piecing but the more I used this one, the less I used the others. It’s my favorite over my old Bernina, my featherweight and the other old Singers I have. I might have to get that 1/4 foot?! Merry Christmas and thanks for offering us these great deals!

I have had my Juki for about six years. I love, love, love it for piecing and quilting. I just wish the toes on the even-feed foot were a little farther apart … I’m fanatic about actually being “in the ditch.” I’m planning to order the scant quarter inch and the open toe free motion feet. I have sewn, pieced, machine quilted on my Juki 98LQ almost exclusively for years. Love the speed. Also purchased mine for machine quilting. Quickly realized it is the bomb at piecing. I have a top of the line Husqvarna Designer 1 that I use for applique and mending stretch fabrics. Everything else I choose the Juki. On this older model the needle threader is worthless. Glad they improved it. I double knot the thread and pull it through so seldom need to thread the machine. Love the 2nd motor for bobbin winding. And the 2 thread delivery wires tall enough for cone thread. One tip, take the metal thread cutter off the end of a spool of thread or dental floss and tape to top of machine to quickly cut newly wound bobbin thread. This machine does require oiling. I sew alot!! So oiling weekly or so is necessary. I had my prized husband cut and file one of the 2 machine quilting feet to make it open toe. Funny, I thought it odd to get 2 of the same foot. Didn’t know til reading your post that they were different sizes. Overall I love this machine and would recommend it in a heartbeat. Great value for the price! Former Accuquilt designer and consultant and retired owner of Noble Needle Quilting pattern company. Now I quilt for pleasure.

My Juki is my go-to machine. Although an older machine it just keeps sewing along. Oiling it on a regular basis will keep it in tip-top shape. A feature I really like is turning it on and it is set where I left off. No more resetting the stitch length, etc. My Bernina is mainly used for the zigzag stitch on machine applique. That scant 1/4″ foot is on my wish list. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

I have sewn on my friend Joanne Wechlo’s Juki machine, and it sews like a DREAM. The tension is precise and even every single time, it doesn’t pull the little pieces down into the machine. I can chain piece and it is smooth. The cutting feature is something else that I really like. When my machine takes a turn for the worst, I will purchase a Juki

I bought my Juki from you Lisa the last time you ran this promotion. I do love the machine! One of the main reasons that I bought it was so that I would have a good machine for quilting. I really appreciate how easy it is to move from straight stitching to putting your feed dogs down and quilting. I needed a strong sturdy workhorse machine and this is it! I love my Juki! It’s like going back to a simpler time when I started sewing (don’t want to say how many years ago)! It’s easy to use – not too many knobs and buttons and no touch screen, YAY! Like Lisa said, it pieces beautifully. I ordered the 1/4 inch foot just now and am looking forward to getting it on the machine and trying it out. I love the thread cutter built into the foot pedal so that I can keep my hands on the fabric pieces. I am looking forward to learning to machine quilt with it. I also purchased the table extension – It’s awesome! I don’t have fabric hanging down over the side of the machine any more. Thank you, Lisa, for introducing me to this machine!

I have a Pfaff, Bernina and JUKI sewing machine. The JUKI was a gift from my husband because he knew how much quilting I do and wanted to make it easier for me. LOVE my JUKI!!!!!!! One can sew slow or fast depending on how fast you want to finish one quilt and move on to the next project. Easy to maintain and a must have for any quilter!

I got my Juki at last year’s 12 Days of Christmas and I love it. It sews like a dream and the table is so nice and big so you have a lot of space for your quilt. I got the 1/4″ foot last year and it makes it so much easier to piece accurately. I’ve been thinking I need the open toe foot because I’m doing more free motion quilting and I think it would make it easier. Thanks for another wonderful year of Needful Things! Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to all at Primitive Gatherings,
I must say after reading all the comments a Juki would be a great machine to own. I have a Kenmore and a black featherweight and love them both. If I were to win I would want you to donate it to someone who lost their machine in. the Paradise CA fire. or the Carr fire in Redding CA, so many quilters lost everything they own because of those fires.

I bought a JUKI 2010Q about a year ago to use in bag making. Now I use it for EVERYTHING! I love everything about it! It does such nice even stitches and can sew through many layers of denim, leather and other thick materials. Great for bag making! I have a quilt ready to machine quilt and am excited to try out ruler quilting with it. I have a few rulers to try out with it. I have the 1/4″ foot, but would love to win the open toe quilting foot! Such a fantastic machine!! The only thing I use my Bernina for now is when I occasionally need a zigzag stitch.

I agonized over buying a Juke MO-634DE serger in 1991. I was a stay at home mom and had a hard time justifying the expense of the Juki just to make my sewing go faster. The Juki has been one of the best investments I ever made! I use it infrequently but have never had a moment’s trouble with this machine. Go Juki! I am now a stay at home grandmom and wish I could justify buying Lisa’s Juki, but as the owner of two Singers, three Berninas, and a Viking, I’m out of sewing machine space! Ha! Ha!

I love my Juki bought 2 yrs ago after reading your blog post about your experience with machine. Wonderful for piecing and quilting. Was never able to get hang of free motion quilting with my other machines that are top of line babylocks. Sat down first time adjusted speed to slow and away I went free motion quilting . Did not look bad at all. Stitch is perfect everytime. Tension always spot on. Does not cost a arm and leg. Would not trade for $10.000.00 machine.

i would love to win a Juki. I purchased a Brother several years ago, but only do straight stitch piecing on it, not much applique, yet. I still consider myself a beginner Piecer as I never quilt my own quilts. I’ve put together 2 large quilts, 1 medium size quilt and a couple of table runners. I am another happy Juki owner. I had a 1986 Pfaff that I used for sewing clothing. I started quilting when I retired about 12 years ago, and the Pfaff was getting beyond its usefulness. I started saving for a new Pfaff, but when I was ready to buy, l learned they were no longer the reliable mechanical machines they used to be. After a lot of research, I bought a Juki 2010Q and I have never been sorry. You mentioned all the features, but I most wanted the increased harp space, the ability to stop with the needle down, reliable tension, and its strength. Besides quilting, I have been sewing wallets, zipper pouches and a few bags– Miss Juki sews though everything! It is easy to keep clean and has only been serviced once. (If you keep up with the oiling, she will be happier.) The walking foot and the FMQ feet work well. I can’t think of one bad thing– and no expensive computers to repair.

Hi Perspective Juki Buyers, I own the Juki TL-2010Q and I LOVE it. Iโ€™ve had it for several years, itโ€™s easy to use, portable, with a nice straight stitch. Merry Christmas to Lisa, Nick, & entire family at Primitive Gatherings!
I still cannot believe that I was the lucky winner last year of this Awesome machine!!
I had been on the fence about buying one for over a year, & my husband told me last year to just order it, it was gonna be my gift from him. So,on New Yearโ€™s Day, there was some noise going on in my house when I read Lisaโ€™s post on the winners, I was screaming, & jumping up &down & rolling on the floor!!
I LOVE my JUKI, it sews so smooth, & fast, so easy to control, no complex buttons, love the thread cutter, I did buy the 1/4โ€ foot, couldnโ€™t sew without it, & it is very easy to switch out, also, love the knee control!
My granddaughter sewed her first quilt with it this fall, first time sewing, & easily controlled it herself, & she got into sewing very fast, it sews like a racehorse!! And she wants to come sew at gmas all the time!
My Viking just kinda hangs out in the corner now, I get her out when I need to do some fancy stitching.
So, if you ladies are thinking about getting one, you will NOT be disappointed, & wonder why you waited so long!
Thankyou again Lisa for this WONDERFUL gift, & everything you do!! I appreciate all of it from the bottom of my โค๏ธ

BY FAR THE BEST SEWING MACHINE I HAVE EVER HAD AND I’VE HAD MANY. I purchased my Juki from you at Christmas 2010 or 2011. I absolutely love it. It makes sewing so much more enjoyable. True straight stitch – a must for piecing quilts! I like that it is completely metal and it’s easy to oil. I like the bobbin winding and the metal bobbins. I like the bobbin placement being side loaded so I don’t have to remove my item from the machine to replace the bobbin thread. I like the foot control for sniping the thread when you are done with a seam. I like the ease of setting the tensions both top and bottom threads. I love the sound of it when I sew. It’s so smooth – it practically purrs. I have a Bernina 830 Record, wonderful machine but old so it doesn’t have some of the things, like threader, thread cutter, etc. and also it has decorative stitches and that doesn’t allow for a truly straight stitch like the Juki TL2010Q. I have had Elna, Viking and Janome..all good machines but not as true as the Juki. The one negative is it is very heavy. I do have a travelling Janome that weighs 11 pounds but if I can get someone to lift my Juki I will take that with me. They didn’t have the scant quarter foot when I purchased my machine and I’m glad to see they have it now. If you want a good sturdy work horse – this is it!!

I have too many machines to count. With everyone downsizing these days I may be encouraged to buy a Juki and give my machine collection to my grandchildren. Pillow cases for charity, neonatal quilts and comfort quilts needed by tragic events are my main projects these days. Love my Juki from PG! I also have a $5K Bernina. The Juki already COMES with a BUNCH of extra feet….as well as a large extension table. Those were things I had to purchase extra with my Bernina. 99 percent of the time I am using my machines for straight stitching, and the Juki wins hands down over my Bernina. I first bought a Juki 2000 and loved that foot pedal thread cutter more than anything! And then I used the quilting foot and free-motion pieced a queen-sized quilt just on my tabletop … LOVED it! When you offered the TL-2010 I was pining away for the upgrades, so my sister bought my machine from me and I ordered the TL-2010 from PG. I justified the purchase as I’d paid $750 for a BSR (stitch regulator) for my Bernina that skipped stitches no matter what I did, or how many times I had it looked at. For just a little bit more, I bought the Juki that not only does wonderful free-motion quilting, but offers several speeds, has a fabulous thread cutter with the click of your heel on the foot pedal โ€“ allowing me to chain piece like crazy, and requires very little maintenance. A year ago, I bought the quarter-inch foot at the Madison Quilt Expo … love it too. I wouldn’t ever be without my Juki. It goes to all retreats and the Bernina only comes out of the closet when I need to do appliquรฉ or a fancy stitch!
