Here are all my blocks so far!
Below are the triangle papers I use for making HSTs…they are a must for making perfect small triangles…yes you can make them larger and them trim them…but that takes forever!!!!! So this method works the best! See the videos below..
The following 4 part videos are how I make these little HSTs perfectly!

Now you will need to know the finished size of you HSTs that will determine what size paper you use…
Here is what to use for our Moda Block Heads 3- Block 6.
If you are making: = size of triangle papers to use
4″ blocks =1/2″ triangle paper
6″ block=3/4″ triangle paper
8″blocks=1″ triangle paper
12″ blocks – 1 1/2″ triangle paper

I think your block is my favorite so far! I always love blocks with these little triangles, but I always struggle with bulk in the seams. And sewing together all these little triangles by hand is a little daunting to me to be honest :o. Maybe I should try machine piecing on these for once…

I’m teaching my 8 year old granddaughter to quilt. We started last summer making a pillowcase. I think using charm packs and HST papers would be a fun way to teach her to follow lines and show her accuracy when cutting and sewing them together. Love ur MBH 3 block

Being a newer quilter, Moda Blockhead 3 is teaching me all sorts of new things. I have heard of Triangle Paper and had the thought is the paper really necessary?? Well after doing paper piecing for the first time last week. I could definitely see how it would make HST a lot easier. I have not tried triangle paper yet – I may need to! I typically use the “strip” method which I find to be quick and accurate.

I love seeing the different lay outs designers have posted. It really helps with thinking out of the box for a new design instead of the fall-back straight rows of blocks and sashing. Also am amazed that it is third time round and there are still fresh blocks to make!

It always amazes me that there are so many blocks that are different, and so much more to learn. The blocks are wonderful. Although I can’t imagine making them at 4 inches, from perusing the comments, some people are – so impressive. I’m sure using the papers to make multiple HST, makes the process simpler, especially when the are so tiny.

I enjoy sewing miniature quilts – and using Triangle Paper! I use a size 70 needle, sharp, Aurifil thread, and a pretty short stitch length, 1.5. And I slow down my stitching speed. They are so worth it, I will make a sample block first though!

Oh, found the comment spot. Thanks. I do like the triangle paper method. As I said in fb, my sister just taught me how to use them. I do admit to downloading a master pattern that I put on a card paper and print them on tracing or children’s drawing tablet paper. I am using Urban Farmhouse Gatherings as fabric. I need to jump into some color as I tend to use more earth tones and quiet colors. Thank you for your time in giving us this block.

I love Primitive Gatherings triangle papers and made the Tomorrow’s Flowers quilt with them. It made the project so much more fun rather than having to make the many, many half-square triangles with the papers! They are always perfect!!

Thanks for the post and the videos. Being relatively new to the art of quilting but not handwork or sewing it’s quite helpful to have a detailed explanation. It can be rather daunting which tool for this or that but most of all how to maximize a tool for best use of time.

I have owned your kit for the red/white triangle quilt (Memory of a Masterpiece) for over a year but put it the backburner because I was afraid of those triangles. I will now give it a go! I can do this!! But, maybe I’ll start with the green and white small kit for St Patrick’s Day. I went ahead and bought triangle paper for that one, too! Love the charms – love the bag. Among other projects, I’m currently doing Bonnie Hunter’s Frolic mystery quilt, but I’ve reduced the block size from 12″ to 3″ so I can make this a true miniature quilt. I’m having fun!!

what a great block, i’m the weirdo who loves HSTs. i have bought your triangle paper and may give it a try this time, but i usually make my HSTs by just cutting the individual triangles and sewing them together. thanks for the opportunity for the bag and charm packs!

Today birthday and this week and part of las has been spent in the ER off the hospital in TN where my son lives! I’ve had two gall bladder attacks, and a meriad Of other things go wrong!! My dog ran off, while she ran off she got sprayed by av skunk and guess who got to give her a bath??? ( after having surgery!! ) There are some lazy people I in the world today! I love this B forward to seeing it up. Thanks for all the five ways! I do love the triangle paper, In think it is precise and easy… and saves a bunch of time… but I won’t save the paper!! 😂😂
