Below are the triangle papers I use for making HSTs…they are a must for making perfect small triangles…yes you can make them larger and them trim them…but that takes forever!!!!! So this method works the best!ย See the videos below..The following 4 part videos are how I make these little HSTs perfectly!
Love your block! Also the fabric choice. I have not been brave enough to start but seeing how easy you make half square triangles I am thinking about it.
Also thank you for starching tip. I used it for my last quilt top and it went together so smoothly.
Thank you so much Lisa, your videos and instructions are so clear. I will definitely be looking in to buying triangle paper. Love your monochromatic squares.
You always have great teaching methods and I always learn something from you! Love the cute little bag too!

I wish I lived near your shop! I have purchased items online but seeing shop samples of your patterns on display and class opportunities are not possible. Maybe a shop tour could be a blog topic. Thanks for the 4โ block patterns when needed.
Your block and the mini are both cute as can be! I am just happy to be on this quilt excursion, all new to me. Thanks for being so kind and sharing with all of us!

I think your block is my favorite so far! I always love blocks with these little triangles, but I always struggle with bulk in the seams. And sewing together all these little triangles by hand is a little daunting to me to be honest :o. Maybe I should try machine piecing on these for once…
Love What You Do. How absolutely appropriate for the art of quilt making. I have been quilting since 1981 and continue to make quilts because I Love what I Do. Cynthia
I think your block is my favorite so far! I always love blocks with these little triangles, but I always struggle with bulk in the seams. And sewing together all these little triangles by hand is a little daunting to me to be honest. Maybe I should try machine piecing on these for once…

Would LOVE to win the bag giveaway for this week. Iโve never won anything, would love this to be my first!

I havenโt tried the triangle papers. This just might be the perfect project. Iโve done Jodi Barrows method and I have sizzix dies to cut them. This looks fast!

Love your block and layout option. Eager to watch the video on Triangle papers. Are they basically the same thing as Thangles. I picked up a bunch of these years ago, but never used. Love the give away!
This has been so fun learning something new each week! I am excited to start your block but do I wait for the papers? Woe is me! ๐ Also, when you said make a note of where weโre heading next week, I thought thatโs what you wanted us to leave in the comments! ๐ So, Iโm heading to Laughlin, Nevada next week but think I really need to head to the kitchen for coffee NOW! The bag of miniโs is adorable and would be great fun to use them in future MBH3 blocks.
Excited to try my triangle papers. Thank you for your designs for MODA Blockheads. The signature bag with mini charms is a great prize! My fingers will be crossed when I am not cutting or sewing. LOL
Thank you for another great post Lisa. You have inspired me to jump into Blockheads #3. How awesome would it be to rock up to Amitie Textiles for the Handmade Retreat in July this year with a new bag … not only signed by our wonderful Jen Kingwell, but Richard as well!๐๐

You are an inspiration to me, I always think if Lisa can juggle all the things in her life and accomplish what she does there is no reason I canโt get my projects over the finish line! Keep up the good work.
I would be lost without your triangle papers! They have made such a difference for me and allow me to be brave with the small sizes. I appreciate everything that you do to help us be more creative.
Good Morning, Thank you for being a Moda Designer, your block is one I look forwarding to finishing, though not sure which size, thanks for providing a choice of size., HST use to be a curse for me now I think lve come a long way in 2 years making them and donโt need the papers, though I thank you for suggesting and providing a link and tutorial. Looking forward to what youโre up to next.
All of these great blocks and the colors people have chosen are inspiring me to make a quilt with different blocks. I’ve not done one in all of my years of quilting. Love the giveaway items. The mini charm squares are wonderful.
I love the challenge of working with tiny pieces on quilt blocks. I’m looking forward to trying your beautiful block. The mini charms look so inviting! Thanks for your inspiration.
Thanks for the refresher on the triangle papers. I was dreading making this block until you reminded me of this easy method for perfect half square triangles.
I am really interested in mini-quilts so those mini charms look wonderful! Thanks for the video on the triangle papers. There seem to be so many ways to make the half square triangles but the papers seem the best way.
Thank you for the patterns and the advice. I am getting a slow start on these blocks as I have been mostly a paper pieced block maker and having to be this accurate is a fun challenge.
I love your block for this week! Thought for sure there would be a zillion HSTs in it. Iโm doing 4โ blocks too, so Iโm glad I was wrong about the triangles. Was at your Menasha store last week. Canโt wait to go back.
Being a newer quilter, Moda Blockhead 3 is teaching me all sorts of new things. I have heard of Triangle Paper and had the thought is the paper really necessary?? Well after doing paper piecing for the first time last week. I could definitely see how it would make HST a lot easier. Thank you for the inspiration to try something new and for a wonderful give away!
I love reading your blog. I look forward to reading my email everyday to see if you have posted anything new. You are full of inspiration. I love all the tips too.
This is my first Moda Blockhead experience. I have loved Moda fabrics for years and now I am becoming huge fan of the designers too. Thank you all the time and energy you have put into this gift of these patterns.
I love seeing the different lay outs designers have posted. It really helps with thinking out of the box for a new design instead of the fall-back straight rows of blocks and sashing. Also am amazed that it is third time round and there are still fresh blocks to make!
I just got my machine back from the shop, so she’s tuned up and I’m ready to get started with your block. Thank you for all the work you put in on this project. It’s easy to see that Moda and all of the designers want us to succeed!
Greetings from my last day in New Orleans! I canโt wait to get home to my sewing room to try to tackle your beautiful block!! Oh, and I LOOOOVE everything Moda! Thank you ๐
It always amazes me that there are so many blocks that are different, and so much more to learn. The blocks are wonderful. Although I can’t imagine making them at 4 inches, from perusing the comments, some people are – so impressive. I’m sure using the papers to make multiple HST, makes the process simpler, especially when the are so tiny.
Thank you for your post and the giveaway.
Thank you for sharing your fabric choices and your block layouts. I really like the idea of making 4โ Blocks. Iโve made mostly Queen size quilts. I think the smaller size would make a really nice wall hanging. Iโm also very interested in your triangle technique. ๐
Thank you for sharing your blocks for the sew along. Would love to win the giveaway, especially the bag with all the designers signatures. Very thoughtful of you to do this. Thank you.
What a fantastic giveaway. Thank you for the chance to win. I would highly recommend triangle papers if you never tried them. Not only are they an easy way to get accurate HST but they will save you a lot of headaches. I always use them when I have a lot of HST to make.
Thank you Lissa for designing a block that gives us a sense of movement. These are my favourite types of blocks. I love the Moda Blockheads 3 for the skills I am learning and the great community.
The triangle papers are so easy to use. Luckily I live close to the Murrieta, CA. store so I can stock up as needed. I used them first in your free triangle quilt and now I use them for every HST i make. Thanks Lisa for coming up with such a useful product

I do love your blocks, they are always a bit of a challenge, but I am up for a challenge. I am using your Indigo gatherings, along with Edyta SItar’s Royal blues. Next week, alas, we are sticking around for doctor’s appointments, but I will be sewing away in between. Thanks for the give-away, such a cute pouch!
Your blocks challenged me in BH2 (I was a late-comer so I’m still working on BH1)….I grumbled through them and loved the results. I took my vitamins yesterday so I’d be ready today. Haha Seriously, though, I love your work.
Oh Lisa… wow!!!! Your tiny blocks are so fantastic! You amaze me!!!! Wow. I agree on the triangle papers… such a great product!! Thank you for a fun block!!

Thank you so much for the awesome block, sharing your setting with us, and for the HST tutorials and sizing chart…….all amazing and helpful! This is my first time sewing the Blockheads blocks, and have my mom involvved in it also so it is making it that much more fun. I just ordered us some of the triangle papers from your site, and know they will be a big help to both of us, but especially mom who is struggling with her hands with some of the tiny pieces. Thanks also for the opportunity to enter your drawing for the goody bag!!!
Love the block and use of colour. The triangles are a good idea. I have used them before & they work well for accuracy. Great give away. I would put it to good use. Thanks!

I am so impressed by all the designers of these blocks. Lisa, your use of blacks, grays and whites is really stunning. I have some of the small triangle papers. Iโm slowly getting through a project using them. Itโs almost there! Thank you for your tips and creativity. ๐
Dear Lisa, I’m doing the 4″ blocks for Blockheads 3 too! I love working with little tiny pieces, and i LOVE your triangle papers – they make life so much easier with the tiny HSTs!!! I love Block 6 and may make a 12″ block, too, as a pillow. Love Blockheads projects!!! Nancy
I am loving the Indigo print. I want to add that collection and try to make that quilt in your little journal book that I purchased last year with the navy star blocks on the cream background. Thank you for this opportunity and continual inspiration.
I’m excited to dig into this block. The alternate blocks I’m doing for my setting have a million half square triangles, so I guess that’ll be my week. Haha!
This is my first Moda Blockhead! Iโm really enjoying all of the blocks. I have not tried the Triangle papers yet, but Iโm going to give them a tryโanything to make life easier๐
I love your block! I am trying the Triangle paper for the first time. I enjoy trying new techniques. The Moda bag is really cute too. Thanks for designing.
What a great block! I purchased the HST papers after block 2 and they are the most amazing thing Iโve ever used. Thanks for all your great help and very instructive videos.
I enjoy sewing miniature quilts – and using Triangle Paper! I use a size 70 needle, sharp, Aurifil thread, and a pretty short stitch length, 1.5. And I slow down my stitching speed. They are so worth it, I will make a sample block first though!
This is very generous of you. I absolutely love your color selection. I can’t wait to have a free moment to watch your videos on this block. I’ve never heard of this and am super excited to try it!
Thank you for the patterns and great tips on each block. I get excited every Wednesday for new pattern to work on also I encouraged my mother to start your Moda Block Challenge.
Love the great giveway especially the colors on mini charms๐
I’ve been plotting fabric placement all morning – I can’t wait to get started on your pattern! And thanks for the giveway – it looks like there are some great mini charms in there. ๐
I love you BH3 block. I already use the Triangle Papers as much as I can and have ordered a lot of different sizes. Thank you for the videos showing how easy it is to use them. Now on to get my block made.
Really appreciate the extra info you give with your blocks and so well done. Have your triangle papers but have never tried them – now I need to for sure.
Thank you for the great pattern and very informative post! This is my first time participating and I am learning so much from all of the designers posts. All the charms….what would a girl do?
WOW,this is the give away everyone wants to win! I had a hard time getting to the bottom to comment! I love the Moda block heads, you give great instructions. Thanks!
Thanks for the videos & your triangle paper tips. Iโm hoping this block (with your help) will square up for me to the correct size with all the points intact. So much learning going on. Thank you.
Love this block and the sewing pouch! Mini charms are my favorite because I can use them for small projects. I have used some triangle paper and it’s great as well!
I have been working on a BOM and I know your papers would be so much better and perfect after I finish. I plan to get some of the paper to have when needed. Thank you for all the sharing you do to make us better !!
Oh, found the comment spot. Thanks. I do like the triangle paper method. As I said in fb, my sister just taught me how to use them. I do admit to downloading a master pattern that I put on a card paper and print them on tracing or children’s drawing tablet paper. I am using Urban Farmhouse Gatherings as fabric. I need to jump into some color as I tend to use more earth tones and quiet colors. Thank you for your time in giving us this block.
I am glad the Blocks have instructions for different sized blocks. I also like the layout suggestion at the first of the project. What a great Give away. Thanks
Oh, Lisa what a wonderful giveaway!!!! I would be over the moon to have so much yumminess to play with. I need to get a calculator to figure out how many packages of triangle papers I would need to make them all! Fingers crossed!
Being a new quilter I am in awe of all the designs you just make up out of thin air! How wonderful that you would share your thoughts and ideas with so many! Thanks for the inspiration!
LISA – I live in Neenah….not too far away from you….you’ve filled the quilting/wool world with wonderful ideas in your textile career. Can’t THANK YOU enough…..Ever ONWARD!!!!
I just love your tiny blocks for the Blockheads quilt. Miniatures have a dear place in my heart, and I prefer smaller quilt blocks to large ones. Thank you for making your small block sizes available.
What a great giveaway and a great block. Last year I start the 365 block challenge and it has me getting accustomed to small pieces and I only just found triangle paper and it’s a god sent.
Love this block and will be trying the 4โ tomorrow. Fabric is drying after starching and have my triangle papers ready to go. Would love to win the give away. Super disappointed you will not be at the AQS show in Daytona a Beach next week. Your booth has been where I spend all my money. Will miss it.
I enjoy the variety of blocks from all the designers. Thanks to all for sharing with us. Your giveaway is too awesome for words. Thank for the opportunity to win.
Thank you for the beautiful block and the hints are making the small HSTs. Every little bit helps! And thank you for the wonderful giveaway! How generous of you!
I enjoy reading all the blogs each week and seeing all the different ways to approach each weekโs block. Thank you for being part of the group that makes this happen!
I love your design for this week. I have never used the triangle paper, but everyone is talking about it so I’ll probably be trying it soon. I would love to win the bag of goodies…..thanks for the chance.
A lot of firsts for me. First time to participate in Blockheads, first time to find your blog, first time to discover your fabulous triangle papers, and first time to enter a contest online. I LOVE mini charms and the bag is adorable. Thank you for the time and effort you put in designing your blocks for us!
Love your block! I am a โpiecing girlโ when it comes to quilting. I will be looking into the triangle papers so thanks for the video directions. Also what an awesome give away, and filled with plenty of material to make those tiny triangles ๐คฃ. Thanks for thinking of all of us out here in Moda Blockhead 3 land.
This is my first time working the blockheads and I am super excited. I am using fabric from my stash that reminds me of my Grandma. Canโt wait for Wednesdayโs to find my new block pattern! Next week I will be heading to Lissa Alexandraโs blog. Thanks designers for doing this sew along!
Hi Lisa thank you so much for yet another fantastic block, another week another learning curve for me, I’m so grateful to you and the other designers for spending time doing this for us, as for the Giveaway amazing, I collect candy packs, if I buy one u have to buy a second, one to sew and one to save so far I have just under 50 in my collection
Half square triangle papers are an essential quilting supply! I first used a โprimitive” hand drawn one years ago & now they are readily available. Thank you.
Who would guess that you would give away such a cute bag filled with mini’s….LOL! Love the challenge of working with mini pieces and the reward is priceless!. Off to visit my parents this weekend and will be sewing some Blockheads with my mom… wonderful memories! Thank you for the time you give us with these wonderful quilt-alongs! Keep up the challenges and wonderful creations!
Wow….youโre site has been busy!! Iโve been wanting to give triangle paper a try, this may have convinced me… Iโm sure BH3 will have lots of opportunities.
At first wasnโt sure if I would like your block layout, but now that you have a few in their designated backgrounds I think itโs going to be great (as usual) and I canโt believe I had any doubt)!!
The little mini charms are so cute….they would look great made into a little zipped bag like shown ๐
It’s so funny, Lisa – I see the colors you are using for your quilt, that I would never think of using, and then I see your layout and am blown away again by your creativity!
What a treasure that bag and charms is! Whoever wins it – congratulations! Love this pattern, Lisa and I love seeing all of the blocks that people are putting together. There is so much creativity in the world – aren’t we lucky?
So excited to try the triangle papers – anything to try and make my points better is a plus! The giveaway would be super fun with half way to more easy triangles.
Thanks for the opportunity to win the mini charms & bag. You rock! I’ve been following you from the beginning and it’s amazing to see where you’ve taken your business, you should be VERY proud!
I’m really looking forward to sewing this beautiful block. I love that my skills are being broadened and you all make it so easy to learn the techniques. I appreciate your willingness to put these designs together for us to enjoy.
Also, the mini charm packs would be great little additions to my stash. ๐
Hi Lisa! My name is Nancy. I just love that you like to create designs with mini peicing as I love all things mini. I even drive a mini cooper and have 2 mini dauchshunds! They are big supporters of my mini quilting obsession. Can’t wait to try your HST quilting papers. So clever. โบ๏ธ
I love Primitive Gatherings triangle papers and made the Tomorrowโs Flowers quilt with them. It made the project so much more fun rather than having to make the many, many half-square triangles with the papers! They are always perfect!!
I just think the mini-charm squares are the cutest things. I’ve collected a few so far. I always love your color combos for the Moda Blockheads but 4″ blocks? No can do! I have a hard enough time with 6″ blocks so that’s my limit. I have a variety pack of your triangle papers but have had a chance to use them yet. I’ve even forgot what pattern I ordered them from your website for. Just love your giveaway! Pick me!
Thanks for the post and the videos. Being relatively new to the art of quilting but not handwork or sewing it’s quite helpful to have a detailed explanation. It can be rather daunting which tool for this or that but most of all how to maximize a tool for best use of time.
Love the give away…lots of creative possibilities!!!
Lisa, i love the four inch blocks! Mini’s are my favorite and I am really enjoying seeing your little blocks! Thank you for sharing your versions each week. I’e been showing my 90 year old mom who looks forward to seeing them each week too!

I am obsessed with mini charm packs. They are how I survive long meetings, by stitching hexis and keeping my hands occupied. And Blockheads keep me busy at home in the evenings.
I โค๏ธ collecting those mini charm packs and have used them for so many cute pillows, pin cushions, mats and mini quilts. Would love to receive your pouch full!

Thank you for your block in the Blockhead program. Being new to the program, I am enjoying each week and the talent of all the designers. Your videos are fantastic! Thank you do much! I have owned your kit for the red/white triangle quilt (Memory of a Masterpiece) for over a year but put it the backburner because I was afraid of those triangles. I will now give it a go! I can do this!! But, maybe I’ll start with the green and white small kit for St Patrick’s Day. I went ahead and bought triangle paper for that one, too! I appreciate all of your give aways-thanks for the chance to win sometime! You are a generous person! P.S. I love those indigo prints of your as well as that new indigo dyed fabric! Hi, Lisa, from a fellow resident on US 41, in da Yoop! And every time we drive over that bridge north of Omro, I have to endure my DHโs awful puns about Lake Butte des Morts. Thanks for the wonderful block!
