Happy Block Heads Day! Here is another great Quilt Block!
Click HERE to get this week’s pattern!
This week’s quilt block is from Laurie, the quilting half of Minick & Simpson! I love the red/white/blues of Laurie’s Fabrics…
Here is my version of Lauries’s Uneven Nine Patch Quilt Block:

This uneven 9 patch quilt block is made with Indigo Gatherings, Urban Farmhouse Gatherings & Bella Solid… all Moda fabrics for sure!!!
Since this week’s block is kinda about a nine patch… I wanted to share my thoughts about a nine patch…I think it is the most versatile and fun block there is to stitch…the possibilities are endless and no one is ever too good for a 9 patch quilt block. They are so precious and fun to matter what your skill level is!
I this cool book called Nine Patch Gatherings, with a slick technique making 2 perfect– nine patch blocks from 2 squares…It makes one positive (dark corners) and one negative (light corners) nine patches at the same time…Our 50 light and 50 dark Charm square pack in 3 1/2″ and 5“ are perfect for this….You even could do 100 shirtings and 100 darks as well if you like the lighter prints…
2- 5″ squares make3″ finished blocks and 2- 3 1/2″ squares make 1 1/2″ finished Nine-Patches. The pre cuts are great for not tearing apart your fabric collection for just a square of a bunch of different fabrics……or if you have Moda 5″ charms they would work fine too with a Bella Solid!…

The best thing about the book besides the method is the 13 quilts you can make using the nine patch blocks that are created by using the method.
To jump start our Spring Cleaning here at Primitive Gatherings….If you purchase any 2-3 1/2″ or 5″ Charm packs… we will give you the 9 patch book for FREE! REMEMBER 2 CHARMS PACKS IS THE MAGIC NUMBER! No need to order book if you order the Charm packs… we will just put it in your order.
