Welcome to my 12 Days of Needful Things! I am grateful to know there are a lot of NEW Quilter’s & Stitchers following me here now than ever before. I want you ALL to know that this warms my heart in a big way. 2020 has been a big year of change…change that we will look back on and talk about as a big world event…like this… Do you remember the year we all “stayed home?” and so on. (Click on Links to find out more information)
For me, 2020 ‘s changes were very dramatic in my quilting life. Who am I kidding… my quilting life IS my life…hahaha…bear with me here before we begin the 12 Needful Things… I am not upset about 2020. I am an optimist…I found lots to LOVE about 2020. But here are a few things that changed significantly for me…
No travel...I used to travel two to three times a month, teaching for guilds, vending at a shows, traveling with quilters on an adventure, buying trips, regular visits to our California store and work & personal quilting retreats…all gone for 2020.
Re-Creating how we do business. Primitive Gatherings was a strong family business. But what do we do if we can’t attend a quilt show and sell our products? if we don’t have a class full of students? I guess we get on social media, start a group….(Stitch with Lisa) where I could fill the void of not being able to teach. I started sharing little videos on stitches, how to’s and then the LIVE video’s sharing what I am working on, tutorials and sharing my home life as well. In other words being available to those who needed some social interaction because the only place we were going was the grocery store, in fear mind you….I believe we still are in the infancy of our business transformation. We are now on YouTube, I have become a little more comfortable in front of the camera…We are working on a better set up for video/audio and learning our new equipment. We have big plans and in the end…we will make the best of 2020.
Personal care...being able to stay home allowed me the ability to take better care of myself… I hired an online Life Coach which helped with many issues, time management, work/personal life separation, weight loss, personal relationships, and learning how to celebrate my successes. These are just a few things that I am working on with her. It is all still a work in progress but I feel much more confident and in control than I have ever been before.
Collaborations..when you are unsure of the future…you work harder. I have two possibly three books coming out in 2021 with Martingale. We have four MODA fabrics lines with supporting pattern books coming in 2021. Two are regular cotton lines, one flannel, and one homespun. I have 2 more already in the works for 2022, this would have never happened before…to be this far ahead with my fabric lines. I do not recall how many other collaborations we will be involved in…I know we are in American Patchwork & Quilting in early summer of 2021…and a few more Moda All-Star books too!
Why am I telling you all this? As this year ends I want to change things for next year. We will be moving into a new Shop & Warehouse and then our retreat house. This will allow us to better to serve our quilting community. For our online community I want to offer more Stitch-Alongs, tutorials, Add a “quilty” subscription box in the alternating months we do not have a wool/stitchery box.
I do not know if we will have the Summer blocks of the weeks the same way as we have offered them for the past 15 years….and this event the 12 days of Needful Things will also change…but I promise the changes will be good and you will probably like it much better!
I can’t possibly thank you enough for your participation, loyalty, and friendship when we all needed each other this year. As the leader of Primitive Gatherings, I promise you we all give 100% in everything we do…We care and want our customers to be happy…Stitching is our happy place…
Now onto the Needful Things...Important Info first…please READ.
There will be 12 days…starting today…some will have multiple items some only one….you can keep your items in your wish list until the end…or not…shipping is free after $100. If you are keeping them in your cart they will clear after a certain amount of days…so add them wish list and then add them to the cart when you are ready to order. If the item is a pre-order it needs to go in a separate single order…
We have items in stock, however, we do not know if we will sell 5 or 500 so we may have to order additional items in, this takes time…so do not be in a hurry for your order…it is also the holidays….there are days we are shut down and employees are on vacation…if you wait to place your order at the end, know it will be well into January before it comes….
Please understand we are a SMALL business (do not compare us with major online shopping outlets)….we are expanding with the BUILD (click here for weekly updates) but for now we have two or three persons working to ship…we do work more than 1 shift at times like this…but this is not a normal time and we cannot hire just anyone off the street to get your orders right…we need to train them for a long time to know threads and designers and all that knit picky stuff…

Cabin on the Ridge- Finishes at 70″x72″ If you know much about me you know what ridge it is named after…but I LOVED making this quilt. So fun, easy and it turned out so perfect and Jake quilted it sooooooooo beautiful! This so far is eveyone’s favorite from the 6, but we are not quite done making them all yet…so that can change.

My favorite fabric line is probably redwork gatherings. I truly have enjoyed them all…I love and admire vintage redwork quilts.. may be that’s why? They usually have a story to tell!
My favorite of your fabric lines is the one I’m working with at any given time. Haha. Right now it’s Redwork Gatherings. Next will be American Gatherings. I love them all!! I saw your new flower garden gatherings when I picked my quilt up from Luke. Oh my. That is even prettier than the first flower garden gatherings!! Keep on doing what you do!!

Christmas. You do this the best of anyone I have ever seen. I am really looking forward to the new Christmas line of fabric next summer. I am pretty sure that will be my new favorite. I recently worked on a pattern by another designer and the instructions and pattern was awful to me. I realized I have been completely spoiled by the organized and thoughtful way you do things, Lisa. And again, I am so thankful for you and all you do.

Picking a favorite fabric line is like picking a favorite child! I love them all, but would have to say Indigo Gatherings and Red Work Gatherings for right now. Although your new line is pretty spectacular!

I have not used one of your fabric lines and never had a desire to make something from colors in Farmhouse Gatherings, however they are gorgeous. I especially like the Snowflake Star Pattern. Hard to say what would be my favorite. Love the Farmhouse Flannels and I really like your Primitive Muslins for my stitchery project quilts. Currently using an Urban Farmhouse layer cake to make bowl cozies which are turning out fabulous. Can’t say I know of any stinkers that you produced. Must say that after discovering and falling in love with your SBOWs this year I was disappointed to hear they are changing. Not complaining, just had enough change for one year. My favorite line is your snowman gathering lines. I love snowmen and they were so cute. I did make a table runner and wall hanging with the fabric.
I love every single collection you have ever designed so to choose one is very difficult. I love the primitive muslin, the wool & needle flannels, and homespun gatherings. I loved little seasonal gatherings, old glory gatherings, and needle and thread gatherings. I quess if I had to choose one it would be Snowman Gatherings. How you continue to create such awesome collections for us is amazing.

This is such a hard question because I love them all, along with the projects you create to go with them! But if I have to pick, it would be Farmhouse Flannels I & II – I’m using them now to make a wedding quilt for my daughter and son-in-law (a socially distanced, Covid wedding we watched via Zoom this fall).
I think it was called Small/Miniature Gatherings.
I love them all. It’s hard to choose since they are all so different and warm. American Gatherings and Urban Farmhouse for now.

My favorite line was Indigo Gatherings. Perhaps I should say, “My favorite line ‘is’ Indigo Gatherings. I am working on the first of four quilt kits and then there is my fat quarter tower.

Snowman gatherings is my favorite. I’m new to doing wool projects and really trying to fine tune my stitches. It’s been a wonderful way to finally relax when I’m not working at the hospital! Thank you for all you all do!

Of course I love all your lines. Your flannel is the softest, nicest flannel. But I also love Redwork Gatherings and Indigo Gatherings. Two color quilts are so appealing.
My favorite is Urban Farmhouse Gatherings flannel. Making three quilts out of it. Almost finished. Making all three at one time, so fun, when one is finished, so will three.

I suspect I have purchased fabrics from nearly every Primitive Gatherings line many at the booth in Paducah. However, Urban Farmhouse Gatherings I is my favorite…so far!

Well my favorite right now is Redwork Gatherings because I am working on a quilt made from it. I have to say though that I am drooling over the UFG 2 which I will happily combine with my stash of UFG 1. They should make a beautiful quilt. Thanks for all you do!
I believe it was called garden gatherings. It had lighter colors and looked like a garden. I made my Dear Jane quilt from it. Worked beautifully, but a little different from the usual darker reproduction prints used in that pattern. Of course I love them all. I have a corner of my sewing room for the fat quarter bundles.
It is really hard to pick a favorite line of fabric, they are all fantastic…I will go with my latest purchase of Redwork Gathering…
Omgosh…a favorite PG line? I loved snowman gatherings and cringe every time I have to cut into it! But I’m also in love with urban farmhouse…..not ready to cut into that yet either.

It is hard to pick a favorite with so many beautiful choices. But I choose Farmhouse Gatherings because the word “Farmhouse” reminds me of home and my Grandmother’s house. 🙂
Oh, Lisa, if you’ve read any of my previous comments, you know I love them all. My favorite probably is Liberty Gatherings because I feel like I really learned to piece accurately with those projects. I was a very new quilter and wool appliquer, and I made virtually every project in the book. When I ran out of Liberty Gatherings, I found some Old Glory Gatherings on etsy to take me down the home stretch, and I loved that, too!

There are so many lines I really love – but – although this may not be a “line” per say – my quilts constantly include your primitive muslins. My favorite coloration is pie crust – but every one is fabulous. Your “invention” of this fabric collection is the best thing since the Hershey kiss!
My fav line(s) are the Snowman Gatherings! Love the motifs on those collections! Looking forward to your upcoming changes for 2021. I, too, haven’t minded the staying home part of 2020….I’ve gotten a lot accomplished. Gotta add, however, that there is plenty more to do! Ha!
My favorite PG fabric line is Snowman Gatherings I and II. Since moving from CO to Northern AL 20 years ago, I really miss the snow, building snowmen and snowwomen, making angels in the snow and skiing. Snowman Gatherings just puts a smile on my face when I bring out the quilts for winter. Thx Lisa for the wonderful fabric.

I don’t know the fabric line but I bought the sheep quilt that comes in the fab tin case. It is full of charm square of so many pattern. I love it.

Redwork Gatherings is my current favorite. I bought lots of yardages of it in all the prints I love it so much! I am using many of the prints in a quilt I am in the process of making using creams, reds, blacks and evergreen. I love your fabric lines and your greys are also amazing. My favorite fabric lines? Tough question. Can’t identify just one! Most favorite is Little Gatherings if that’s the name of the line with the gorgeous cheddar, green, gold with tiny flowers. I have loved the snowmen gatherings and buy more any time I run across any. I also have loved indigo gatherings not just for the colors (what’s not to love about blue and white) but the precious sayings on the selvages are priceless ! Can’t leave out red work gatherings and urban farmhouse. Whew! I’m a huge fan!

Well there isn’t a line I don’t like but I would have to say my very favorites are any of the red, white and blue lines. I think I have them all and I’m waiting on the one in Jan. I am really interested in the new one coming in April. I haven’t played with those colors yet and it’s like getting a new box of crayons. I’m so excited for your new facilities and can’t wait to visit!

Hard to do since you haven’t released one that I don’t like (and trust me I have some of all of them-lol), but if I must pick one then it would be Homestead Gatherings, I LOVED the reds, so rich and nice blueish red. I’m excited to see all the new ideas you have in store for us, you know I’ll be right there to support you. I wish I was closer, I’d offer to come help with the shipping, I’m sure I could manage to pull/pack orders since I’m well versed on most all of your products (yep I’m a real fan). All your fabric lines are beautiful but if I have to narrow it down it would be your flannel like farmhouse flannels and urban farmhouse.

Well, I sound boring, but my favorite fabric is the primitive muslin flannels. I’ve used them as backgrounds for several wool applique quilts and love how soft but sturdy they are, and they make the wool colors pop. I never get tired of using them. They are great for the back of a quilt, too.
I love anything Primitive Gatherings but if I have to choose I like Little Gatherings and the Wool & Needle Flannel Gatherings!! And Indigo Gatherings and Redwork Gatherings and Snowman Gatherings, I could go on and on, love them all!!
Hello, Lisa, and group. You are incredibly new to me. I’ve been thinking wool work, and a mutual virtual friend told me about your Christmas Shop Hop. So, your fabric line is new….Floral Gatherings would be my choice….for my use. I’m in a new in 2002, with a lot of browns, and terra cotta tossed in. However, I have done another Farmhouse Country line and loved the greys. I’m excited to find your videos on stitching and receiving my Gnome kit.

Urban Farmhouse Gatherings was my favorite collection but Gatherings II may be my new favorite 😍
My favorite turned out to be Urban Farmhouse Gatherings after I made Brigitte Heitland’s quilt “Those Trees” out of it using one of the light grays as the background and making the trees out of dark grays and blacks. The only other fabric was some gold for the stars. I know it sounds crazy, but it turned out perfect. My niece just loved it!
Right Lisa, pick just one line??? I love them all, but am a sucker for snowmen so would have to say Snowman Gatherings….but I’m really starting to get into the more modern grays now. Have a very Merry – and take some time for yourself!

American gatherings is one of my favorites, but I like them all.
I love both of the Farmhouse Flannel lines. Used both in a quilt for my son for Christmas. So so soft- my husband wants one now and he didn’t think he needed a quilt before I made this one.
I’m going to go back to the beginning and pick Little Gatherings…I loved that line. And then a most recent favorite is Redwork Gatherings. I’m making the Christmas Sampler BOM from Fig Tree out of this line and it is absolutely beautiful!

While I love all you lines Urban farmhouse is my favorite. Many in my family are more contemporary decors than I am. The grey lines let me work in prints I love and gift to them in colors that blend into their decor.

I have been using the INDIGO gatherings for the blockhead 3 this year as it is coming to the end I must say I have enjoyed working with it worried if I had enough, bought excess (another future project) and did add a different line with a large floral print! to my blocks ! My shelves have red work flower garden and urban gathering .looking forward to your new books what a year! thankful for all u do

I have been working with Farmhouse flannels lately and love them. I received some in our last wool box with a pattern. They worked up so well and felt so good that I went to my local quilt shop and bought more so I could make the quilt larger.

For now, Farmhouse Gatherings is my favorite line, but that will probably change when the Americana line comes out after January 1. Thanks for all you do! I wish I could buy everything!!!! ❤️

I still like Floral Gatherings. It was in the very first issue of MSQC’s magazine and I purchased it at your shop (both magazine and fabric) Still love that one, although I have to say I love them all! The flannels, the reds, the blues …. on and on🥰
Its the impossible question! I love all of your lines, depending on what im doing, so im going to pick farmhouse flannels. Some flannels are not as touchable as yours are, and the feel is my favorite, your muslin flannel is my favorite colors. I pet them every time i come in, sorry
Lakeside Gatherings, without a doubt! Love the palette of grey, navy and butter.
I think my favorite is Snowman Gatherings (original and sequels!) – It’s wintery but not Christmasy so the quilts feel right all through the season.
Indigo Gatherings. I love blue and white quilts
I love all things Primitive Gatherings, but if I had to pick one, it would probably be Urban Farmhouse Gatherings. It is always fun to see your next best line when they come out.

It is hard to choose one, but I guess the Indigo – I love those blues! Then there’s the reds, oh I love red, so much! I belong to your monthly club, but have yet to use the fabric- it looks so pretty on my shelf.
Your YouTube channel is great- I love seeing the real projects, not just the pictures on a pattern- they look so much better when you can see all the detail.

Redwork Gatherings is my Favorite so far.
I think I love all the fabric lines (have not met one I did not like yet!) – the ones I keep coming back for more of are the flannels they are so soft, warm and stich up so NICE!!!
I admit that I have not sewn with your fabric but that will be changing! I love this line and I’m sad I missed out on the original.
I will say personally I like Farmhouse flannels….but my girls love Urban Gatherings and I made each of them a quilt for Christmas. I can’t wait! Perfect fabric line for the twenty something crowd!
Red work Gatherings is my favorite fabric line.
I like the Redwork Gatherings. I makes me feel nostalgic. I can smell the cinnamon in the apple pie baking in the oven.

Originally, my favorite was the Snowman Gatherings BUT I also love the Redwork & Indigo Gatherings. It’s very hard to pick one as I love the Little Gatherings too and your new line Urban Farmhouse Gatherings II is beautiful. Thanks for sharing your personal life with us.
