12 Days of Needful Things…Day 3

Just a reminder about our shop hours through the rest of the year.

Day 3- Needful Things-Custom Quilt Hangers

Scott has been busy designing new quilt Hangers…We have had a single arm for a while now…I loved mine..but…wait…now I can have 3 or 5 quilts hanging at the same time!3 arm quilt hangerShown here black or white…notice they are distressed on purpose.  Paint is rubbed off…and such…

Then here it is… all dressed up in red & white for Christmas!

Primitive Gatherings 5 arm quilt hangerThis is our family room…now all the quilt are stored here instead of folded on the couch…tidy’s up space quickly!  Most of these quilts are flannel…and heavy so they are nice and strong as well.
These hangers are hand made by Scott so please allow some time for him to make your beautiful hanger…it will come next year.  Something to look forward to in 2021!  We are offering the hangers on sale for 10% off.  They will not ever be on sale again, maybe next Christmas…as they are very laborious and not easy to ship…so this is your chance.  You can order the single,  triple, and the five-arm…black or white.
Check out our Needful Things-Quilt Hangers
If you won a quilt hanger….where would you hang it?
What is the first quilt you would put on it?
Which one would you want?
After you leave me a comment telling me all this info make sure you check your list…do you have all those presents yet?  Some of mine are not going to make it…oh well, I will put a picture of it in a card and say Merry Christmas… it is coming!!!  It’s all good…we will just keep celebrating until they all come in!  Why not… In 2020 all things are unpredictable.
I can’t wait to read your comments today!!!

I have been wishing for one of these since you started offering them. I have been waiting to gift myself one and also waiting till I make a trip to your store to purchase it. I always feel hesitant making a purchase for myself. I would love a 5 tier to hang in my bedroom. I would change the quilts hanging, based on the season.

Hmmmm…I’d hang my quilt hanger on the wall in the living room as that is the only wall big enough to hang it. I’d love to have the one with, but only have room for a 3-quilt hanger. The first quilt that would go on it is the quilt that was gifted to my by the Colorado Springs Quilt Guild in 1997 as out-going President. Thank you, Lisa, for all you do for us!!

TO win one that would be amazing. I would hang it in the hall way. I have 2 others single arm. And love them to death. I have quilts out all the time. If I won I would put blue white quilts out for the winter months.

Merry Christmas, Lisa, staff and family,

I love the quilt hangers that Scott is making. I would use it to hang the signature quilts that I made my mom and dad. I made dad for his 75th birthday , it has 77 family members signatures on it. Gave it to him at a family reunion, with most of the family members there. I gave mom hers for her 80th birthday. She loved looking at the name and talking about different family members. She was covered with it as she passed away peacefully with her 5 living children taking care of her at home in Hospice care. I have had both quilts since they passed away, they put a sm8le on my face, as they remind me of my wonderful pa. I was blessed, we were blessed.

I’ve been watching for these. Love them. I’d put a 3 armed one in my den and a 5 armed one in my bedroom where I have more wall space. I have a large civil war repro quilt and then a log cabin and a pineapple quilt that I’d put on them. Have others that are waiting to be quilted that I would put on too.

I love these quilt hangers. DH got one for me a few years ago and it hangs in the bedroom above a quilt ladder. I change the quilts on it seasonal. We have very little wall space due to so many windows as we live on a lake. I would still find a spot for another single, triple or even the 5. I love bringing out my quilts each season as they are treasures for 20+ years I have been quilting. Next batch of quilts coming out are my blue and whit for winter and January.

If I won a hanger I would hang it in my family room. I would hang my summer block of the week quilts on it. I only have wall space for a triple hanger. They are beautiful pieces of art.

I would want the 3-arm hanger. I like the idea of showing off more than one at a time, but it seems like 5 might be a little distracting. Maybe. I would put it in the family room because that is where everybody would see it. The first quilt to go on it would be one that is currently under construction – made with 16 embroidery squares that my Mother made when she was 88/89 years old.

I have finally started making some quilts just for me and would love to display them on a wall. Right now I have only three completed. We have a small house so would probably display them in our bedroom. I have many handmade gifts made and ready for our children but didn’t quilte have time to finish a small nutcracker wall hanging for my grandson. I’ll have it ready for next year. We will all be together this year – so that is extra special. ๐Ÿ™‚

I love these quilt hangers but I’m not sure where I would put it as my home is very small and limited on wall space. It looks beautiful in your home and I absolutely love the red and cream quilts you have on it. Thank you for your inspiration and generosity. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and many blessings in the coming new year!

If I won a quilt hanger, I have the perfect wall for it! I would love to display my quilts and this would be the perfect way to do it, I have wished for this for a long time. The first quiIt I would hang on it would be the first quilt I ever made for myself. What a wonderful way to look at what you have completed, and a beautiful way to display for others to see. I really like the quilt grouping that the three arm hanger gives! I would place in our family room and display more quilts other than the ones on the backs of the chairs and couches. The first quilt would be an antique quilt made by my grandmother and then another antique quilt made by my husband’s great aunt. The normally stay safely folded in the bedroom.

It rests on the back of a chair in my sewing room right now but I would love to display it better.

I have a few large walls that could handle a quilt hanger, one, three, five arms, theyโ€™d all find a place. We built 1,000 square feet onto our home for my mother, who no longer is here, so making that space integral to the rest of the house has been a difficulty chore. Cozy it up, hang some quilts! That would help!

I love these hangers! I would put up one that holds three quilts in my three seasons room that we are remodeling right now. It would be perfect to hold our favorite flannel quilts for quick access when evenings out there get a little chilly, and provide great wall decor when we arenโ€™t wrapped up in them!!! My favorite quilt to put on would be a flannel row by row that my small group made years ago. One of the gals in the group surprised me by secretly helping my (then) young daughters make her row for my quilt. This quilt has so many special memories!! Thank you Lisa for all you do for us! I have loved the questions you ask that really make me pause and reflect.

Wow, these hangers are lovely! I will need to put one on my birthday list for next year. I have a lot of wall space, so I would get at least two 5-arm ones, for the family room and dining room, then a 3-arm one for the master bedroom. I love the idea of storing quilts in plain sight!

Oh Iโ€™ve wanted two of the single hangers for a long time now. And then you come up w multiples! It just keeps getting better and better. Our Wisconsin cabin has a loft w big window above bed. I would put one on each side of the window like shutters to hang my quilts! I made Lisaโ€™s quilt w anchor so thatโ€™s one side. And of course another blue n white on the other side. Any special requirements for multiple racks? That looks like a lot of weight on the wall. ??? Scottyโ€™s work is so impressive!! You are lucky to have him!

I would hang a quilt made by late Mother-in-Law, who was, without a doubt, the sweetest, kindess person I have ever met. She cut all the pieces with scissors and sewed everything by hand and hand-quilted, also. It’s lots of colors and very scrappy. Definitely, a family treasure.

My quilt hanger would go in the family room so quilts would be visible all the time. The first quilt I would hang would be the quilt my grandmother gave me when I graduated from high school (she gave me another when I married and that would hang next.) So, I would need the five arm in dark wood! Only one more gift to finish, then time to wrap! Cannot wait to celebrate Christmas,

I would hang in my living room placing my beautiful great grandmothers quilts from the 1800โ€™s on them , followed by my Dresden made from French General fabric. Hmmm, love the 3 arm quilt hanger in both colors, difficult to pick a favorite color. I have the perfect place to hang it in our family room. It would be a perfect place to hang (store) the comfort quilts that my family loves to wrap around them while reading or watching TV. With the comfort quilts on display it will give me the push I need to replace them… they are really beginning to look a little tired, but loved. Love reading your blog and have many of your books and patterns. Happy holidays and a safe, healthy and happy New Year.

I love seeing your red & white quilts displayed on the quilt hanger, Lisa! If I could win one, Iโ€™d want white and a 3-arm hanger.

Iโ€™d hang it in my stairwell just above the first 2-3 stair steps. My staircase is off my entry hall so my prettiest quilts would be visible for all who enter. Plus my office/sewing room is upstairs so Iโ€™d enjoy the display every time I go up & down the stairs. This hanging space is also visible from my husbandโ€™s office and from my dining room table, so great visibility for maximum enjoyment!

If I had one of these quilt hangers hung up before Christmas, Iโ€™d use it for Christmas quilts. But since it wouldnโ€™t arrive till in the new year, Iโ€™d hang my red & white quilts to prepare for Valentineโ€™s Day!

Merry Christmas and thanks for such great Needful Things!

Love those hangers. I purchased the single arm when they first came out. If I won a hanger I think my first choice would be a white five arm. I would probably put it in our family room where it would be handy to curl up under a quilt and work on my Live a Thankful Life block of the month. The first quilt I would hang on it would be my wedding ring quilt. The quilt top was made by the aunt of an elderly friend of mine in the 1930s and didn’t get quilted until the 1980s. A group of senior women at our church got together every Tuesday and did hand quilting they invited me to check it out when I had said I would be interested in learning how to quilt. These women were all in their 70s and 80s when we quilted this quilt top as they taught me. Though they are no longer here I still can look at that quilt and remember the laughs and friendships that took place around that quilt frame on those Tuesdays and I am so thankful for those memories.

These quilt hangers are so nice. My mom was an avid quilter. She started quilt making at age 65. I honestly would love a 3 rack for every room, but unfortunately my home is not designed with a lot of wall space. The first quilt I would hang would be the memory quilt made from my Dad’s flannel shirts. If I won, I would chose a 3-arm distressed hanger that will fit in nicely with the farmhouse decor.

I absolutely LOVE these quilt hangers! They are beautiful as well as handy. (Good job Scott!)
If I won a quilt hangerโ€ฆ.I would hang it in my Family Room where I could enjoy looking at my quilts every day! The first quilts I would put on it would be the antique family quilts my MIL has given me from her family. I love the black ones, but I’m not sure if I’d want the 3 arm or the 5 arm. I would have to look at my space and how I would rearrange to accommodate it. I have enough quilts to fill either. LOL

These are great quilt hangars! I’d put a white one in our guest room, which is where I sew. The first quilt I would hang is my mom’s flower garden quilt–hand-pieced by her (I remember her working on it) and hand-quilted (by her North Dakota aunts and farm friends). It’s gorgeous! Thanks Lisa and Scott–always such good work and helpful items!

I would hang it in my bedroom, probably replacing on old hanger that I have used for years, I would hang my favorite quilt there, which is usually the one I just finished, to replace it again when I completed another quilt. Most quilts are given to others, so it may stay on that quilt hanger for a long time. Black would be my color choice….
My list is done, if at this point, whatever isn’t on the list, won’t get done. I am okay with that too!

The first quilt I would hang would be easy to choose. It would be my Magic of Christmas quilt. The one you were so generous to feature on the cover of your book of the same title!

One was shown at AQS in Paducah & Grand Rapids that I did as a BOM from Primitive Gatherings – Yoko Saito’s Vases of Flowers. Another is one I made for my Dad for his 89th birthday. Those quilt hangers are beautiful. I can see hanging either the 3 or 5 arm in the family room with our lap quilts and blankets. It would make it easy to select one for snuggling and, hopefully, to return it when you’re finished using. Presently the black would fit my decor best and the first quilt I would hang is one made by a friend. That 5 arm version makes a display large enough to cover a big wall. Nice!

How beautiful!! Love that the quilt hangers are hand made and will be holding quilts that are hand made.
We are in the process of buying our home and would love to hang my quilts and the hanger in the living room for all to see. Would love to have either the 3 or 5 arm hanger in black. Iโ€™d put the first quilt I ever made on it and rotate my others with the seasons.

I have been eyeballing these for awhile now as I have been collecting antique quilts for 30 years now in addition to the few I make each year. I see myself as a steward in making sure the antiques are preserved – the guest bed has 5 layered on it! Displaying them properly is a challenge and I love how much you can see of each quilt on these hangers!

Oh my goodness, I just love the quilt hangers. I don’t currently own one but if I did, I’d get the three arm quilt hanger first in black. I’d hang it in the bedroom so I could see the quilts first thing in the morning when I wake up, through out the day and again right before I turn the lights out at night. I’m currently working on a Christmas Quilt and that would be the first quilt I hang on it. Of course I’d have to get another one in white for the living room so I could enjoy looking at my other quilts all day long. LOL

Iโ€™m looking at that spot right now, Lisa. Next to the front door, the only wall space in the entire house thatโ€™s not already taken up furniture, collectibles, CDs, and oh yeah… quilts. I would start with my Civil War sampler, my Madders and Blues sampler, and my Ohio Star quilt, then rotate with the rest of the bunch. Three prongs would be perfect. Thanks, and happy holidays to you and your family!

I am very fortunate to have my great-grandmother’s last quilt (I was born 2 years after she passed, so I never knew her). She died in 1944, and it is red and white in a Drunkard’s Path pattern. My grandmother carried the top with her for about 30 years, and finally finished it, so 2 previous generations have touched that cloth. I am afraid to leave it folded, and wish to see it displayed…your hanging rack would do it justice. I am curious to know the length of the arms, as that would decide where I place it. And, though I have more than enough quilts to fill a 5-arm, I would be grateful to have just the 3-arm. The “budget” can’t fit it in until next year, though,,,,,2020…(sigh). Best to all of you this season, and hopes for a brighter New Year!

I would be thrilled to win the 1 arm with the black finish. My heirloom red & white pieced, star quilt would be perfect hanging in the family room where I could enjoy it every day. The quilt was found in a linen closet after both my mother and grandmother had passed away; sadly, they did not label their quilts so I don’t if one or both worked on it. My grandkids call it our “Picnic Quilt” because we do make memories on it….only rule- no berry drinks!

These are lovely quilt hangers! If I won one, it would go on our bedroom wall where the sun would not fade the two quilts I would hang on it. The first to go on would be the yellow flower garden quilt made by my great Aunt for my parents wedding in 1952, the second would be the beautiful pink Dresden Plate quilt made by my mother-in-law and her 4 sisters for her hope chest before 1935. I would choose the 3 arm in white. Both quilts are hand pieced and hand quilted and such a joy to experience. I have often wished I could hear the conversations that took place during the making of these beautiful quilts. Thanks for the opportunity to win one of these hangers!

On it would hang great Granny’s quilts that no one wanted because they were not her fancy ones. These were instead made with scraps of Gramps worn out clothes and maybe others worn out clothes in the family. Still used all these years later. I would also hang my European blankets that I use regularly.

Eventually one of my own made quilts will hang there.

The hanger will be a well loved and used addition to our home where it will hold treasures past and current for all to use and love while remembering those who went before us with G. Granny’s work of love.

Like my grandmother who only wore pink after she turned 65 I have decided that life is short and I want to make lots of blue variation quilts. I don’t have a family room, so it would be awesome to have a hanger to display my quilts.

I have a lot of quilts waiting for the long arm quilter, it would be wonderful to have a home to display them, presently I only have two walls in the living room to hang any quilts.

As soon as you mentioned that Scottie’s was making racks with more arms I purposely looked around my house to see where I could put one that would display more quilts. It really didn’t take long….just on the other side of the sliding glass door in my family room. It would replace the wimpy quilt ladder that is just too short to do the corner justice! The first one I would hang would be a 5-hanger in the den. Very handy to pull a quilt if I’m chilly this winter. I think I’d hang the next one (a 3-hanger) in the guest bedroom. We set the thermostat at 60 degrees on winter nights so my guests sometimes remind me that my house is colder than they are used to. Easy access for my warm-turned-cold friends! Not sure which quilt would be my first to hang … Merry Christmas!

Oh my–I suppose the hanger would be in our upstairs family room. It’s cozy there and familiar–much like my collection of Primitive Gatherings quilts. I cherish the designs and the designer.
Would absolutely love the three quilt hanger–that way I could rotate the quilts with frequency.

I would place my 5-arm black rack in our family room and enjoy seeing my family quilts on display. Getting quilts out of storage and being enjoyed is truly a Christmas blessing. I was so excited about the availability of this quilt rack and envisioning its place in my home that I forgot to mention all the details about how I would use it.

I love the hangers! Such a great idea! The very first quilt I would hang on it is a quilt that a I made with Lemoyne star blocks and a wool appliquรฉ basket in the center. The blocks are from an exchange I did with a group of friends. We made 5 blocks for each person and then made our own quilts! It was challenging but fun! And each quilt turned out so beautiful!

If I won a quilt hanger I would hang it in my hallway. I would chose the black 3 armed one. I received 5 quilt tops a few years ago from my Mother that my Grandmother had pieced. I am currently quilting #4. I love quilting them and knowing the fabrics were from my grandparents shirts and aprons, etc. and knowing that I am blessed to be working with the same fabric my Grandmother worked on. I would hang those quilts on the quilt hanger.

The first quilt Iโ€™d hang would be my first quilt that my grandmother helped me make on her treadle at age 8…..from her scrap bag…..now a doll quilt my grandchildren play with when they visit. I get misty eyed every time I see it because I can remember her in some of the quilt triangles (all outs cut off…lol) because they came from her old house dresses. My grandma won a signature raffle quilt back then at her church in northern MN. Her name along with some of her brotherโ€™s names are hand embroidered on it. It is still in great shape and the blue colors are still vivid. I would for sure hang it in my family room so I could see it all day every day, I for sure would hang my Dear Jane quilt on it and I love both, but the black for sure would go better in my home.

Mine would go in my entry so visitors would see it as soon as they came in. I would change the quilts out with each holiday. In the in between times I would display my favorite quilt, a blue and white quilt dating from the 1970โ€™s. I leaned to quilt with this quilt and the help of a church quilting group from my home town in Rural Oklahoma. They quilted for the public to raise church funds. $40 for any size hand quilted quilt and they applied binding as well. I would choose off white if I was lucky enough to win and if given a choice.

I would be so thrilled to win a quilt hanger. I would put it in my entry way so I can hang my seasonal quilts together. ( they love to hang out together). The white 5 arm would be a hit. Big shout out to Scott for being so handy. Moon Garden would be my first!

Hi, I think I’d like a 3 arm black one. It would go in my quilting room where I could enjoy seeing my quilts hang. I would put my just finished quilts that need quilting. Or in my new bedroom once it’s completed and hand a next on the bed quilt to be ready to go when I switch out or wash.
Guess I might need extra, I did buy a white one so I’ll have choices!
    They’re beautiful.

Ah! I would really really love one of these quilt hangers, either one. I would put it in my spare bedroom/sewing room. The first quilt I would put on there is a quilt my Mom an I made for my grand father in 1977 out of my grandmothers cloths after she passed away from dementia.

I would put a 5 way in my civil war inspired dining room to replace the quilt ladder my cat climbs! I have antique quilts to hang on it. Also, today I finished ALL my gift sewing projects!!! Mostly for my 17 month old granddaughter.

if I won a quilt hanger I would put it in our bedroom. The first quilt I would hang on it would be a quilt our neighbor made when we were first married (44+ years ago.) It is a dresden plate that is hand tied. Her name was Mrs. Hallett – the sweetest woman I think I have ever known (other than my mom.) She lived to be 102, never went to a doctor due to her own remedy of a sip of whiskey every night before bedtime. Of course, after that one is hung, I have several PG SBOW quilts that would be equally as beautiful.

What a clever idea! I have been eyeing these quilt hangers for some time and love the white. I have a perfect place in my living room for the five or three armed where it could be seen upon entry to our home. There are many quilts in my stash that would qualify. However, I would display them according to season and color, changing them accordingly. The first one would be a PG quilt design, of course! Lakehouse or Starlit Skies…

I love that PG offers handcrafted items such as these beautiful quilt hangers, and I love knowing a bit about the artisans behind the objects. I will be putting my hanger on my tall living room wall and change the quilts seasonally. Or just โ€œbecause!โ€ I know Iโ€™ll be including the 2019 SBOW…eventually!!! I better get busy! Thanks for everything!

I really like your quilting arms. I bought a couple of your single arm hangars this past summer. My favorite features is the ease of changing out the quilts you want to display. I may have to try the 3or 5 to display more quilts.

So excited That you are offering these hangers! I would love to win a three arm hanger, in the distressed white. I would hang it in the foyer between the front door in the kitchen that way I could enjoy quilts as I come into the house and as Iโ€™m working in the kitchen! I would love to hang a vintage, 1940โ€™s quilt on the rack.

What a lovely way to hang several quilts! If I had a white one, I would hang it either in a guest bedroom or in a family room where everyone could find a warm snuggly quilt to cuddle up in. Gosh! Maybe I need two of these!

I love both the black and the distressed white in 3- or 5-arm. If I can find the space, I would hang it in my living room so I can see my beautiful quilts every day. You are so generous. Thank you so much.

I like both the distressed white and black in the 3 arm, Currently having a house built in central Oregon so I’m not sure where I would hang it, but I have no doubt I could make it work. Depending on the room, the color of the hanger, would depend on which quilts I would hang.

I am just seeing this nowโ€ฆ are you still selling these or would you by any chance be willing to share/sell the pattern for the 5 arm quilt hanger? Thanks!

      Hi Chris –
Right now none of our wood products are available through the website because we are still creating the bar codes. Please call the shop at 920-722-7233 and they’ll be able to see what our inventory is like and if what you’re looking for is still available. Thank you!!!
