Are You Ready for the Twilight Stars Quilt-Along?

If you’re one of the many quilters anxiously waiting for my next quilt-along to start, I have great news! It’s officially time to get excited because tomorrow, Thursday June 15th, 2023 marks the launch of the Twilight Stars Quilt-Along! Haven’t heard of it? I put together Twilight Stars using my recent Rustic Gatherings fabric line combined with Jackie MacDonald’s Halloween-themed collection, Spellbound. Both lines feature color palettes with rusty oranges and rich blacks, along with some nice grey selections from Rustic that go together beautifully. If you haven’t had an opportunity to see the Rustic Gatherings collection yet, click the button below to take a look!

I realize that not everyone is a Halloween fan and if that includes you, don’t worry. This will be a year-long project with plenty of time to shop for alternative fabrics that will also look nice combined with Rustic Gatherings. In all reality, Spellbound doesn’t really have that heavy of a Halloween presence to be honest. Yes, there are some pumpkins and a few witches and black cats here and there, but there is also a star print, moon print, floral print, and some interesting tracery to choose from that all fit perfectly along side Rustic Gatherings.

One of the things I love most about this quilt-along is that it’s not going to take a ton of time to complete the releases each week. Even if you’re strapped for time, this QAL is still very doable. Heck, just do ONE block a week if that’s all you have time for – it’s not a race! In fact, the last thing I want to do is stress or overwhelm you. QALs are supposed to be fun, enjoyable, and an opportunity to sew along with a group of like-minded people. Relax and join us! As my friends at Moda like to say, keep calm and quilt on!

I know many of you have already purchased everything you need for Twilight Stars and I just want to say thank you! I really appreciate that. There’s nothing better than hitting the ground running when you’re starting a new project. For those of still on the fence or holding off on getting your supplies for whatever reason, Jess has taken the liberty to create a section on our main website specially dedicated to Quilt-Along specific items. Each quilt-along will have its own link that will allow you to shop all the items needed to participate. It’s super slick! Let me walk you through how to find the quilt-along on our new website…

First, visit the Primitive Gatherings website at: http://www.primitivegatherings.us. On the top left-hand side of the home page you will see four white lines next to the Primitive Gatherings logo. Click on these lines and a drop-down “Categories” menu will appear.

From the “Categories” menu select “All Things Primitive Gatherings.”

Once you’ve entered the “All Things Primitive Gatherings” area of the site you will see “Subcategories of All Things Primitive Gatherings.” From this alphabetized list click on the icon for “Quilt-Alongs and Stitch-Alongs” which currently looks like what is shown below (we’re working on an icon/image for the Quilt-Along subcategory – watch for it soon!).

Once you’ve clicked the icon for “Quilt-Alongs and Stitch-Alongs” the Quilt-Along subcategory page will appear. Select the quilt-along you’re looking to join and everything you need to participate (both required and optional items) will be available to purchase right there!

As I mentioned, my latest quilt-along Twilight Stars starts tomorrow! I will be talking all about it during STITCH with Lisa where I’ll scratch the surface on starching, cutting, piecing, sewing, and all the things in between! Don’t miss out – we go LIVE at 1:00 p.m. CST on my YouTube channel. You can watch by clicking the STITCH button below! If you have any questions I strongly urge you to tune in and leave them in the comments while I’m on air and I will do my best to answer them in real time. Busy at 1:00? That’s ok too. You can always catch the replay later and email any questions you might have to store@primitivegatherings.us and we will answer them as soon as we can! Right after that, I’ll be hopping over to our other studio set for another exciting hour of CommentSold (at appx 2:15 p.m. CST). Remember, you can participate in CommentSold sales both through our Facebook pages OR through our trusty new Primitive Gatherings CommentSold app.

Speaking of our new CommentSold app, how are you all liking it? So far I’ve received nothing but positive feedback from both iPhone and Android users alike. I’ve also been using it myself and it really is simple to use – way easier than going through Facebook if you ask me. If you haven’t had the opportunity to try it yet I highly recommend checking it out. Still confused about how to get the app? In case you missed it, I did a blog post earlier this week explaining how to get the app if you haven’t already, which you can find by clicking HERE!

Alright friends! I will see you all tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. CST on STITCH with Lisa Bongean for the big launch of my Twilight Stars QAL, and then again around 2:15 p.m. for CommentSold. I’m excited! Each time we get together things seem to be running more and more smoothly among all the new systems we have been working tirelessly to implement. I am seriously thrilled, and it’s just going to keep getting better and better! It’s always such great thing when months of hard work come to fruition. It’s a wonderful feeling and we should all be proud of ourselves – you included! We can’t do what we do here without all of you so again, THANK YOU from all of us at Primitive Gatherings. You’re the best… See you soon everyone! ~Lisa

Hey Sylvia! I checked on your order and found that there was a delay in shipping due to our ruler supplier being on backorder. The good news is that the order has indeed shipped out, and is currently in transit. It shipped via UPS and looks like it will be there by this Saturday, so you should be able to catch up before the next blocks release next Friday. I will have Heidi send you the tracking number via email so that you can keep an eye on it. I hope this helps!

All of my fabric and supplies arrived this week, I can’t wait to get everything starched and get to stitching these first two blocks. Lisa, your Quilt alongs are always so well organized and so much fun! Happy Stitches!

I have a question about the quilt along. I plan on doing the 6″ size. Looking at the chart it states that for each block I will need 1 – 5″ light block, 1 – 5″ dark block, and 1 Triangle Charm paper per block. That makes sense to me since each charm paper yields 18 HST, and 16 are needed per block. In the equations for mass cutting, it states to cut 2 x the number of blocks being made for the light fabric. Please clarify. Thanks!

Hi Angie! For the 6” size you only need one light and one dark… I will check to see if we missed changing it on the sheet. Thanks for the heads up!

    Hi Lisa,
I’ve found your blog through your website and will be participating in the Twilight Stars Sew Along, but I can’t figure out how to subscribe to your blog. Can you tell me how to subscribe?

    1. lisabongean Avatar

Hi Kelleigh! Thanks for your interest in signing up for the blog emails. The blog is currently under construction so our subscription area isn’t active at this time. We are working on it and you should be able to sign up to receive email notifications of my posts within a week or two. Please bear with me and keep checking back!
