The O’ Say Can You Sew Quilt-Along 2 Has Officially Started!

Hey everyone! Have you heard the news about my latest quilt-along? In case you haven’t, heads up because the long-anticipated O’ Say Can You Sew Quilt-Along 2 is officially underway! Here are the details…

O’ Say Can You Sew 2 is a red, white, and blue-themed monthly quilt-along that runs February 1st, 2024 through June 1st, 2024, with a total of five clues. Clues are $5.00 per release download (downloads will expire after 30 days after purchase, so please be sure to download and save them to your computer or device A.S.A.P.!). Clues will be released on the 1st day of each month by 5:00 p.m. Central Standard Time, unless that day falls on a weekend or holiday. In that case, clues will be posted on the next business day by 5:00 p.m. CST. Clues can be purchased on our website or by visiting the O’ Say Can You Sew 2 Information Page at http://www.lisabongean.com under the “Quilt-Alongs” tab, or by visiting the Primitive Gatherings website and putting “O’ Say Can You Sew 2” into the search bar.

Just like O’ Say Can You Sew 1, O’ Say Can You Sew 2 is a what I call a “Mystery Quilt-Along.” This means exactly what it sounds like – the final quilt design and appearance are a secret and will be kept under lock and key until the very end! What I can tell you that the quilt will measure approximately 96″ x 96″ and that it will require about 10 yards of backing fabric. PLEASE NOTE: Cutting instructions and background information can be found in Clue #1.

All you need to participate in O’ Say Can You Sew 2, are the monthly pattern releases which will be available for purchase for $5.00 each on our website. If you’d like to make your quilt in the same colorway that I’m making mine, you will also need a Fat Quarter Bundle of my new American Gatherings II fabric line (plus approximately 10 yards of backing fabric), which you can purchase by clicking HERE!

That’s pretty much it! Simple and straightforward… Just the way I like it. I also like the idea of keeping the final quilt layout a mystery until the end. I realize not knowing what the quilt looks like before you start might be a little uncomfortable for some people, but that’s ok… Venturing out of your comfort zone is good for you! I mean, c’mon – live a little! It’s all part of the fun. Personally, I think it’s exciting. Can you handle the suspense?

Alright, everyone! I will see you all bright and early tomorrow for CommentSold with Jess and the gang at 10:00 a.m. CST. Jess has another round of exciting items in store for you that are sure to get your creative juices flowing in the direction of spring! Tune in and join us via the Primitive Gatherings CommentSold App, or by visiting the LIVE videos area on either our PG Facebook page or the STITCH with Lisa Bongean group page. I’ll be there in the comments! ~Lisa

So excited for this quilt along because I didn’t make last year’s quilt. But I’m running a little behind and need to go starch. My fabric. Can’t wait to see the final project. You always do such amazing work! Thank you so much Lisa for all your time and planning for these fun projects.

Yahoo, another great sew along! I loved “Oh say can you sew” and of course our great flag sew along ( I even set extra blocks for the Veteran’s presentation. Thanks for all you do Lisa. I love red, white, and blue and America too :0)

If we want to make a smaller quilt, should we wait until all of the clues come out, or can we sew along every month and make adjustments at the end?

    1. lisabongean Avatar

Hi, Brenda! I put 10″ borders on mine to make it fit my bed, so if you want to make it smaller just leave those off. You can also adjust accordingly at the end if you want it even smaller than that.

I am Canadian, is the design condusive to another colorway, or is it American themed?

    1. lisabongean Avatar

Hello! The quilt is a red, white, and, blue-themed quilt based on my American Gatherings II fabric line, however, there is no reason you can’t change it up and do whatever colorway you like! The only thing I would say is if you do change the colorway, be consistent. For example, if you sub purples for the reds, and greens for the blues, stick with that throughout the entire quilt.

    Thank you Lisa.
I opened the download and started reading the cutting instructions. All good then I looked at all those flying geese and just laughed at myself for knowing I just started my adventure into being a better flying geese production line. I have learned patience with your projects because in the end it will be amazing.

I am making a video to help you with those pesky flying geese, Charlene! It will be out soon. 🙂

Thank you Lisa, I know I will enjoy this one as much as “Oh can you sew”, your small fee is the least we can do for ALL your free sew alongs :0). Thanks so much!

I’m getting the blocks while I can but will hold off making the quilt until I see what fabric I have at home. I have a couple of your bundles there but don’t remember which ones or if there are pieces out of them. I am several projects behind but am working on Docked to Perfection, for my friend’s 70th birthday. Your flannels are so soft and sew up so nicely I may have to make a second one to keep. Thank you for the everything you do for us.
