Twilight Stars Quilt-Along – Block Release #45

Hey friends, welcome back! Wow, it seems like it’s been ages since I’ve made a blog post, doesn’t it? As I’m sure you’ve noticed, I haven’t had a chance to post quite as much as usual lately, because life at Primitive Gatherings has been… well… let’s just say crazy busy. With a plethora of new projects to work on and a slew of upcoming events and activities to plan, there has simply not been enough hours in the day to get it all done. In fact, last I counted I have 13 fliers in my announcements binder for different events coming up in 2024 – and that’s not even counting our monthly clubs and Sit & Stitch meetings! People often ask me how I get it all done, and the answer is simple. By planning, multitasking, learning to prioritize what matters most, and being able to recognize what needs to be set on the back burner for the time being. I’m not so sure about slow, but steady progress forward definitely has a good chance of winning the race if you can manage to keep everything in good balance… That being said, knowing how to delegate doesn’t hurt either – just saying. LOL!

Like I mentioned last week, one of the projects that has been feeling neglected due to my crazy schedule is Moda Blockheads 5. I promise I haven’t abandoned the QAL, but I do have some catching up to do with photographing and explaining the method to my madness on how I did my blocks. For that, I apologize to anyone who’s following along with my progress – I’ll be back on track soon, I promise! In the meantime, you can still grab the patterns each week at www.lisabongean.com under the “Quilt-Alongs” tab. Additional information, photos, hot tips, and a video tutorial for each block can also be found at the Blockheads 5 Main Page every Wednesday.

The good news is, after almost an entire year of faithful Fridays, we’re approaching the finish line for the Twilight Stars QAL!!! I can’t wait to see all the different quilts that will emerge from their cocoons after 50 weeks of metamorphosis. We’re just about there… Today marks Week #45 with block releases #29 and #61!

The arrival of Week #45 also means that after today, we will have officially given 44 prizes away to lucky participants who have taken the time to post their finished blocks on our social media pages each week. It’s been a lot of fun seeing everyone’s progress, and watching piles of finished blocks grow into whole quilts right before our eyes. If you haven’t won a prize for your hard work yet, don’t give up now! There are still five more opportunities for to catch Heidi’s eye with your handy work. All you have to do to for a chance at one of her famous prizes is post a photo of your completed blocks for the week along with the required book, Triangle Gatherings and Primitive Gatherings Triangle Paper included in the picture. You can post it on either our Facebook or Instagram pages, or both! Just remember to also include the hashtag #TwilightStarsQAL in the photo as well. The winner for Week #44 is Deborah Koetter! By the looks of it, spring has definitely sprung over at her place… Beautiful yard, beautiful pool, and even more beautiful blocks… Nice work, Deborah!

Alright stitchers, that’s a wrap on yet another exciting week at Primitive Gatherings! While I’d usually be saying T.G.I.F. right about now, this weekend is a different story considering we only have a few short days left before Mr. Hanspeter Ueltschi – Owner of BERNINA International sets foot on not only WI soil, but PG soil – all the way from Switzerland!!! Needless to say we have a lot of i’s to dot and t’s to cross before the big day, so we’ll be putting in the hours and burning the midnight oil over the weekend to make sure it all goes off without a hitch! Are you coming to the big event??? Let me know in the comments! I can’t wait to see you all here… And speaking of comments, a big shout-out and a sweet little prize goes to Christy J. and Geri S. for leaving me such nice comments on the blog last week (if you think this is you, check your email for a prize confirmation letter from Heidi)! Prizes, prizes… They’re easy enough to get, but you can’t win if you don’t play!!! See you next week. Until then, enjoy your weekend! ~Lisa

Wish I could make the trip to PG to see Mr. Bernina, but I can’t. I have 2 Berninas and love them both. Lisa, you put on such great events that I know I’ll get there someday soon. Have a great weekend and do get some rest!

I am sure the next few days at PG will be crazy busy, but all for a very exciting purpose! Congrats on getting Mr. Hanspeter Ueltschi on your grounds; if I could I would pop in – not just for that but so many of the wonderfully fun things you have going on. As it is, I live too far away and have an adult son who is disabled and cannot travel, so we just stay at home and I get to join in all the awesome PG sewalongs, quilt box, and wool box. Thank you for all you and all your staff do – you guys are the best! Now, to go do just a tad patching and then work on my Twilight Stars blocks.

Lisa – Just received my subscription copy of American Patchwork & Quilting. You sure were right about “a nice feature”. OMG — the quilts, the decor, the ideas! I’ve had it for three days and have gone back to it at least 6 times. I wish I was anywhere near you but it’s quite a trip from western NY — Ah well – someday! A visit (and maybe a stay!) at Primitive Gatherings is at the top of my Bucket list!

Lisa you are such an inspiration. Looking forward to my girls trip in August at the Gathering. In the meantime I’ll continue stitching away on Fresh Cut Garden and numerous other PG projects. I just completed a huge t-shirt quilt for my oldest grandson. He graduates from HS next month.

    Happy stitching,
    Karen

I’ve managed to keep up until now – the last stretch. I had shoulder surgery and will have to finish later. It’s all good. I really enjoyed the process and won a prize. You are so generous and such an inspiration. Thank you.

I’ve been a watcher. . . so far. . . am wanting to make this quilt in an all red/white version. Am I crazy? Love watching the journey. And really like the combinations.

I look so forward to reading your blogs each week. I have retired now so I got your wool box. You are so generous and I am absolutely loving it. I even am surprising my self by keeping up each month. But it is only April. Hope I can all summer. You are my absolute favorite designer with wool projects. Just prepped two more because Iam leaving for Paducah Monday with a couple friends here from Michigan so have to have things to hand stitch on at night. Keep designing and stitching so we can also.

So exciting to have Mr U. at your facility, I can’t wait to watch any videos that you all may take. See you in May at The Gathering !
