Introducing the Primitive Gatherings Monthly Minis Quilt-Along!

Hey everyone! I’m sure you’re aware that we had a super exciting day here at Primitive Gatherings yesterday. Not only were we being graced by the presence of the owner of BERNINA International himself, Hanspeter Ueltschi, I somehow also decided to launch my latest quilt-along on the same day! Mini quilt lovers in particular will be happy to hear that the Primitive Gatherings Monthly Minis Quilt-Along is here!

As always, the details for all of my quilt-alongs can be found at https://lisabongean.com/ under the quilt-alongs tab! In a nutshell, the Monthly Minis QAL is a monthly quilt-along that runs April 23rd, 2024 through March 23rd, 2025. It will feature 12 mini quilt projects over the course of 12 months.

• Patterns will be released on the 23rd day of each month by 5:00 p.m. Central Standard Time unless that day falls on a weekend or holiday. In that case, new patterns will be posted on the next business day by 5:00 p.m. CST.

• Each mini quilt pattern is $5.00 to release to download for one month (printable PDF format). If you prefer a printed pattern, they are available for $8.00 each. When the next pattern releases, past patterns will still be available to purchase for $12.00 each.

• The size of the projects will vary slightly from month to month, but all they will be minis.

• A video tutorial will be release for each pattern the same day it is released. You can find them on the STITCH with Lisa Bongean YouTube channel under the “Videos” tab by clicking here! https://www.youtube.com/@StitchwithLisaBongean

• If you would like to make your quilt in the same colorway as Lisa’s, you will need one Fat Quarter Bundle of Garden Gatherings Shirtings, and one Fat Quarter Bundle of Garden Gatherings Colors. Grab yours now by clicking the buttons below!

• Patterns are available as a PDF download or in printed format. They can be purchased both here on the Information Page via the links below, and on the regular Primitive Gatherings retail website at https://primitivegatherings.us/ by typing “Monthly Minis Quilt-Along” into the search bar.

    I have my fabric starched and drying while I get yard work finished. I really think you have made me addicted to tiny piecing. At one time I was terrified of these small piecing projects now I get so excited and have little interest in large pieced projects. The pride of the accomplishment afterwards. It is hard to give them away especially as I get better.

    Will all the minis be the same size? I don’t see the size listed for this month.

      Hi Tonya! The finished size for the first mini quilt project is 14″ x 14″. They will not all be the same size. We will be featuring a variety of sizes 24″ and under throughout the QAL. Happy stitching!

    Hi Lisa, Last night I made 50 flying geese with 2″ flip and stitch. I usually throw away any flip and stitch under 2.5″. But there were so many just sitting in a pile that I felt guilty swishing them into the trash can. I don’t like waste! This morning I read your blog on Mini Quilts. 1/2″ HST. No waaay… So I took all the itty bitty triangles back to my sewing machine and sewed them together. I just finished squaring them them up to 1 3/8″ HST. I’m so glad I had your 6″ itty bitty ruler. Couldn’t have done it without it. So now I have 100 little HST I don’t know what do with them yet. But I feel better that I didn’t toss all those tiny triangles.

    1. Is the turkey red valdani that I ordered the one needed for the dear Santa panel?
    2. I do not have printer capability at this time. Are you able to send a copy in my order for the $5.oo charge?
    If so please do.
    3. Google updated and managed to lock out my email. Everyone has tried to get it back but Google “intelligence” s not available. I most likely will have to get a new e mil address.

You will need to call the shop at 920-722-7233 – Customer Service is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m. CST. They will be able to help get your email issues sorted out, answer any questions you may have, and get a printed copy of the Monthly Minis QAL pattern ordered for you. In the future, you can also find printed copies of the pattern releases available to purchase on our website under Monthly Minis QAL.     Will the minis all use the same size triangle paper? If not, what sizes should I have on hand?

      Hi Suzanne! Unfortunately, I don’t have all those details quite yet, but what I can tell you is that our next release will not need triangle paper. We’ll do our best to get that info out for future releases as soon as we have it!
