Well I’ve been home a whole week…still moving “stuff” from the old house to the new…little by little…we are living at Anchor Point…but we still have about 40% of our stuff to move out of the old house…I spent some time sewing in my new studio…I am “functional”, but not “pretty” yet…I want to live in the space before I decide to decorate it…My space is amazing…I have everything from the old home studio plus what I had at the lakehouse, so 2 sewing stations, 2 pressing stations…3 cutting tables and a sitting area…plus a bunch of built in storage…I do not have a fabric vault..but you can’t have it all! ย Why does one need all of this?…I plan on working at home Mondays and Fridays and Amy my assistant may be with me some of that time. I plan on going into the work studio tues-thursdays working 12 hour days…so thats the plan…wonder if it will work?
This made be laugh so I thought I would share…Jeter (who is my dog, he was really supposed to be Nick’s but they really choose us) who spends time with me when I stitch…was checking out all the “new” spots in his new studio…
So far I have nothing in any of these cabinets….hmmm I know I have lots of things to put in them…but what should I really put in there??? ย I promise to show real pics again when it’s decorated.
I am stitching on a quilt from my fabric line…The Farmer’s Son..Wool & Needle Flannels IV. ย Does this ever happen to you? ย It happens because I layer 4-5 fabrics when cutting…but here is my solution…I may not even need this one as I always have extras but just in case…I have a wonderful selection of permanent Sharpies…I use them when needed…I sometimes have to “fix” things…so I’m prepared…Now you know we will only see a little bit of this right? ย Have you ever done this?
Well really there is a lot going on here in my world. ย I have the pieced SBOW figured out..we are also doing an EPP(English Paper pieced SBOW too, and I think I might have settled on the wool appliquรฉ one……just thought I would touch base and let you know I’m working hard and will be sharing soon!
I also got to hang out with “little man” today…he was so much fun…he’s gonna be a little dare-devil…gee I don’t know where any of that comes from!!! Happy Sunday!!!
PS…If you have read this to the end…It’s National Quilting Day…Leave me a comment at the end of this post on what you are stitching on and I will pick some winners! ย I will pick tomorrow night when I’m in my hotel room in MI for a workshop and guild meeting on Tuesday and Wednesday…they will be mystery packages! ย So fun!
Love your storage space in new studio. It is beautiful. I am working on a sunbonnet sue – recreating a quilt my grandmother did in the 40’s or 50’s for a family reunion.
I had to start a new quilt on National Quilt Day in spite of the many projects underway all around me. I did finish binding a mini quilt on Friday night, so at least one project can be called complete this weekend! The new quilt uses a Jolly Bar — the first time I have used that particular precut.
I am working on the borders of my Wool Vases of Flowers BOM. Just received the March packet yesterday and still trying to wrap my head around all the pieces of wool that came. Wow! Thus far I am up to date. That is an accomplishment.
Nice to know you are enjoying your new home and a beautiful,Mary one it is. Your sewing room looks so comfy and your dog validates that. I just finished hand quilting a wool on primitive gatherings background. What fun.
Lol! Somewhere in time SBOW block 11 & how does your garden grow block 14 is finished
Tavern on Green is all put together with the first border ready to stitch down … I just might have 1 more square of something else to stitch on also!!!
The partially completed sewing room looks amazing!! I am currently working on a small wall hanging to be framed to give to my mom for Mother’s Day. Enjoy the new set up!!
I use colors to fill in sometimes . With 96 colors you can always find a match. After I color it in I iron the fabric and it sets the color into the fabric. Have a good week
I am finally stitching the backing on my Flower Garden Crazy Tablemat. I have had the embroidery for a couple of years. Can’t wait until it’s done! Thanks for all you do for us!
I’m making place mats from my saved-for-years selvedges. First one ready for quilting! And, of, course a little wool going on too. I got out my tree skirt wool (your primitive Christmas book) and am drawing holly leaves. :). Blessings, marlene
Find it hard not to read your posts to the end! I am working on an applique piece right now to frame and hang in our living room. Slowly but surely we are getting decorated in our new home. I know what you mean about living in it before you decorate it. Can’t wait to be able to order another of Al’s frames when I finish!
I’ve been working on a memory quilt made of men’s shirts…and I finished the top Friday night!! I’ve been working on the backing this weekend. I’ve also been keeping up with the Splendid Sampler blocks. Safe travels!
Sharpies can’t be a quilters best friend!! They have come to my rescue many times. I am currently on being held down by two of my dogs, but when I am not a comfy nap spot for them I’ve been working on the Beauty All Around BOM ๐
Love the studio! Looks like Jeter found some comfy rugs to sleep on. I’m working on a wedding quilt for my newly-married son. I didnt get it finished in time…
I am stitching on one of the Frivols from Moda. Working my way up to yours ๐ Love the pics you shared of your studio….it’s awesome. What fun you’ll have deciding what to put where as well as decorating it. Wish I had that kind of space.
I have been stitching a tumbler quilt which will be a table cloth. My tumblers are smaller than the ones I did from your kit. I also finished binding my Colfax County quilt. Love it.
Love the pictures of your new home…you must be so please.
I am having the Grand Bend Ontario Canada Quilters tomorrow morning to my home for a quilting day!
We enjoyed being at your retreat house this past fall….but are still working on the Stitch a long Project..LOL
Have a great day tomorrow, we will!
Ginger
Glad to see and hear you are slowly getting your new studio put together, and are enjoying some sewing time. I am working on a couple of baby quilts; one for my grand nephew, and another for the baby that a former coworker is having later this spring.
We’re on the road traveling home to Ct having gone down to the Mountain Quiltfest in TN this past week. So I brought along 2 woolie candlemats to work on. Almost done!! Your grandson is getting to be a big boy quickly!
You have a beautiful new home!! I just finished a table runner and baby quilt. Next up is basting a quilt for my DIL and then to think about how I’ll hand quilt it.
I am working on a mixed medium block of the month using silk dupioni, wool, cotton, home dec and silk matka! The center mosaic consists of one inch silk squares!
working on a “quilted” Easter basket for my younger grand-daughter. She never had one. The home looks wonderful and sure you guys are enjoying it. Jeter looks real happy. The little guy is so cute. Enjoy it all!
love all your cabinets. I am working on a Kindred Spirits class little quilt. thanks for opportunity to win. I am a hooker and love combining wool & cotton fabrics.
I’m working on three different wool stitch along projects and quilting some tops that I’ve made in the past 10 years – goal of the year to get these finished! Just finished three donation quilts for my guild’s annual project to the children’s hospital.
Your new house is absolutely beautiful. Can’t wait to see once all moved in and “decorated”.
Due to recent knee replacement I’ve been working on a couple of wool stitching projects. They are for fall and I’m really enjoying them.
What an amazing space! Would love it and the little one is so precious! Hope to win but won’t have email till Saturday so I won’t be able to collect my prize till then……don’t I wish!
Working on the mystery quilt that we are doing in Scrappy Club. Fun project to use up all those little pieces that seem to multiply when put into bins!
Spent the week end cutting out blocks and made 12 pillow cases for mastectomy patients. Wish I didn’t have to make these but they are so appricated. Get to use my stash. Your home is so beautiful and little man is so cute
What a fun read!!! Love the furniture color in your new studio!!! But your grandson stole the whole article!! Adorable little man!!! Thanks for sharing some of your life!!
Your new home is beautiful. Your grandson is a beautiful child and I know some if the happiest moments are what you share with him.
I love your work-you work so hard but your
designs are wonderful. Happy Spring and safe travels.
I just finished a little wall hanging for my sewing room. I know you will enjoy that new home. Congratulation . I am still working on the Summer Block of the week – way behind….
I’m working on a house quilt, got the houses done, now working on the connecting blocks. Can’t wait to get the connecting blocks done to construct the top. Need more time to sew!!
I’m working on a wall hanging with Dresden plate flowers and as always, working on hexies for a quilt for our bed, instead of a gift. What an adorable little guy. Grandkids are so fun.
Easter baskets. My daughter in law tore a page out of a magazine, handed it to me and asked if I could make these Easter baskets for all the kids. Sure, anything for those cuties.
Working Folk Art Album and Somewhere in time. I will post on FB my Sunflower Gatherings that just won Viewers Choice at the Bulloch Hall Quilt Show! Love your designs!
I just love your beautiful new home! I finished up a baby quilt for my great-nephew and gave it to him. I also worked on sewing units for a pinwheel half square triangle swap that I am doing with five other friends.
I am working on a clover for St Pat’s day !! Mimi quilt 2 of them and of course I miss the holiday ! I am either late or early for next year !! I have been blessed with 12 grandkids !!
I am working on a pink and brown Stars of the West, an applique table runner and getting projects together for a week of quilting with my sisters in the east Tennessee mountains. I have so many UFOs I want to finish that it is hard to choose what to take! Maybe I should start something new…hmmm…
I am working on the mystery quilt from quiltmania today. Also picking fabrics for my new Grandsons quilt that his three year old big brother picked out the pattern for, which is airplanes. I’m thinking I might try to use some family cotton shirts in it to make it more special.
I am having the same trouble you are. Its so hard moving your sewing room Its bin 2 months now and I am still lost cant find a thing……But its such a nice room ๐ .. working on my wool.
I am planning a baby girl quilt in my head and working on a wool on cotton applique for hand work!! Too fun. Just finishing up the hearts pincushion from your Christmas event and then will stuff it!!!! Love it!
I can’t wait to see the final studio tour! What a beautiful space (and dog and grand baby) I am stitching my WIPs this year! Thank you very much for having a giveaway.
First the last photo of lil man is adorable!!! His look is like “yep I stuffed most of this snack in my mouth and there’s no way I’m taking smaller bites”. Yes, I have put the selvage in a couple of my quilts I figure only God is perfect so I left it I never thought of coloring it so I’m filing that idea away for when I need it. Now on to your sewing studio: I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!! You have an awesome space to work! I especially LOVE the cabinet that has Frivols 7 sitting on it, reminds me of 1/2 pie safe/ buffet and 1/2 bookcase. The flooring is perfect, is it reclaimed barn wood or is it those tiles that look like wood? BTW before I forget this evening I’m working on my Primitive Blooms I’ve just about finished all the flower blocks. LOL in addition to National Quilting day it’s also the first day of Spring!
I’m been sewing my next block for the Saturday Sampler class that I am taking. These blocks are teaching me new blocks that I have never sewn before because I was always so afraid to try them. I’ve enjoyed my own little National Quilting Day! I can’t wait to see your room when you are all settled in.
Thanks for sharing your pictures. I worked on a block for Evelyn’s sampler wool quilt today. We are looking forward to your program on Tuesday for our Guild!
I am working on several projects. One is “Lost Mittens” for piecing and the other is applique “Auntie Green’s Garden” which will take me forever to complete. Your studio is beautiful!!!
Stitching on The Splendid Sampler block. Embroidering the center block makes me think about my Grandmother & all the crocheted doilies she used to make.
I’m sewing First Holy Communion veils. I make lots of them and sell them on Etsy. The money I earn from this work provides a way for me be able to afford the beautiful quilting fabrics and supplies. You can see my work on my Etsy shoppe, Joyous Illusions. I love sewing on all the pretty bridal fabrics and creating new designs that seem to sell as soon as I get them listed.
I am getting caught up on 2015 designer mystery block of the month. Was finally caught up and received another in the mail. Sort of feel like I am building a house, too! No, a village.
What am I working on ….. More things at once than I should be lol!! But actually right now I am making some table toppers for my end tables from Primitive Gatherings fabric. I’m making these from the triangles I cut off and discarded from making flying geese for a queen size quilt I made for my sister-in-law. I love a challenge and waste not, want not!!
What a beautiful new work space. I am busy hand quilting a baby quilt for a new great niece or nephew we will be welcoming in June. Lots of appliquรฉ with a giraffe, zebra, monkey and lion, such fun!
I am quilting a couple of table runners, supposedly for St. Patricks’s Day. Can’t seem to get them finished. I don’t like the quilting, so I am “unstitching.”
Working on a quilt I got at your shop several years ago from a designer from Australia and mission quilts!! Love seeing pictures of your new home and work stud io!!!!!!
The new studio looks wonderful! Have fun filling all the spaces with all the things you โneedโ to have. Iโm currently working on a quilt with half inch squares and strips. I have plenty of yardage to work bigger but love the little pieces and hate to throw away the scraps so this is perfect. I meant to work it in as leaders and enders while working on another quilt but have found it addictive and now the other quilt is being worked in, instead! Visited your booth at Lancaster and as usual there were many people looking to see your latest!
Well there are three going right now. A group piece for the San Diego Quilt Show. An Art Quilt for Visions Art Museum and a kids quilt for Royal Family Kids Camp. And tax preperation is getting in the way. Bad Taxes!
Sally Parrish
I’m working on a section a month (similar to BOM) and can’t wait till I get to the wool part. I’m going way beyond my comfort zone using silks, cottons, batiks, wool, and textiles. So ex!citing yet so intimidating In between the blocks I’m about to start on some Itty Bitties!
Working on an Almost Free Quilt Block of the month from my local quilt shop. Also have two of your projects close around me to finish up the stitching – all the wool is on!
Love the studio! I’m finishing the round wool table mat (black) with the leaves and small flowers around the edge. I can’t remember it’s name but I’ve had it for a couple of years. It’s turning out very nice.
Have several projects going right now but the one I have been working in lately is the Sbow2015. Switch to Maggie Walker’s Fox Chase or Hat Creek Quilts Campania when I need a change of pace. Love your new space – and Jeter’s search for the perfect spot!
I’m working on last years mystery from buttermilk basin getting them fused because my friend and I have been going to panera to stitch, have lunch and stitch some more. Excited for the block of the week even tho I don’t have the others years done.
In celebration of National Quilting Day I spent the day working on several projects. I added a label to a bed quilt that I recently completed. Then I pieced the # 11 of the Splendid Sampler. Then I finished the quilt top for a Lone Star Pattern that I started 20 years ago for my family room wall. So happy that I finally completed it. I also worked in the 2014 BOW block # 7 while watching NCAA. As you can see- I am always behind with my projects!
Making progress on stitching the first border of SBOW. Hope you’ll be able to stay home a bit more to enjoy your lovely new home & of course, ” little man “.
That little boy could not be cuter. Great cuddly age. I have been working on a quilt called Blue Moon Over Kentucky. The new studio looks amazing. Since it has two work stations, I would be happy to occupy the second spot. Cannot wait for the SBOW’s.
I am working on a pumpkin table mat in wool, your pattern. I’m also working on my son and daughter in law’s signature quilt from their wedding. I plan to give it to them for their first anniversary in May.
Your new space looks fantastic. I’ve been working on some hand sewing. I’d forgotten how much I enjoyed it. I’m actually working on a pieced quilt as well. I never get bored this way. ๐
I am cutting T-shirts to make memory quiltsfor 5 grandchildren.. Hopefully they will be able to wrap themselves in LOVE from their Grandmother, hopefully by fall when it starts turning cool. CUDDLE TIME with memories . . I am their aunt and their ages 3-9. Possible will make Quillows or … … small wrap size. The label will include a picture of Grandma and the specific child A fun project, a pleasure to do for them. Rachel
One of the Frivolas in the fall was a block made from ‘geese’ units. Loved it. In the process of making 30 blocks, good thing I didn’t figure out the number of units needed before I started! Using 9 different charms, really scrappy!
Your black hutch cabinets are gorgeous! Primitive all the way. My “little”house is primitive and black is my favorite color for lots of furniture, It is also a favorite quilting color and of course a wool background! Just finished my “Ball ” jar rug mat from Hampton and am cutting out Christmas ornies! The “little man” is adorable!
OMG!,, Gorgeous space!! Well, I am working on a few things… Several paper pieced BOMs , the Farmers Wife QAL, and in between the BOMs, a fall-ish 9 patch throw.
Your studio looks amazing – even undecorated. Looking forward to sneak peeks at the 2016
summer block of the week. Jeter seems to have found several comfy spots in your studio. Our basset hound Buford enjoys snoozing on the mat in front of our wood stove.
I am currently working my April Pillow Talk from PG. I have enjoyed working on these monthly designs. Your new home is beautiful!!! I’m so happy for you and your family, you started a wonderful business , built it into a huge success, even opened a second store, this new home is the fruit of your labors!! Enjoy!!!!
Today I fused the last round of flowers and vines to last years Freebie, “To plant a flower”. It’s so pretty. I’m anxious to finish this now! Happy National Quilting Day!
Hi Lisa! I’m working on quilting a couple of small quilts for Spring. LOVE you new sewing/quilting studio! It’s a beautiful space with room for everything ! Your Little Man is a cutie-pie! ๐
Just finished putting borders on, cutting backing and batting. Getting our
Guild Raffle Quilt ready for hand quilting. Next, finish a Memory Quilt for a wedding gift.
On National Quilt Day a few friends and I shop hopped some not so local shops ๐ Now I’m finishing up an original wool runner for a silent auction donation for our church. Love how Jeter is getting the lay of the land ๐
Blessings, Patti
I just finished up 112 five inch blue and cream nine patches for a swap. Now to cut out a fishy quilt for my soon to be born grandson. Our first and we’re so excited after having the joy of two little granddaughters. Love the progress you have made on the lake house. Just stunning.
I have spent most of my day working on a couple of projects and important ones! First, a pillowcase and quilt for grandson’s room in his new house – Texas flag theme. And auditioned fabric and patterns for baby quilt for new granddaughter due in June. ๐
Our quilt guild had a sewing day on Saturday from 9 til 6. Everyone won a door prize donated from our local quilt shops. We had all kinds of projects to work on like comfort quilts, preemie blankets, pillow cases and quilts of valour. All to be donated. We also had a 1600 jelly roll contest and I came in 2nd. It was a great day with fellow quilters.
Love the dark furniture in your sewing space. I’m looking forward to seeing the pictures again when you get everything in. I am working on a couple of freebie wool projects and trying to not spaz out when have to change colors, my mind just can’t get it. I have to blanket stitch upside down, lol. I am also trying to get my sewing space in order, yours looks tons better than mine. I have a closet that could pass for a fabric vault-too much fabric! But I could always take some more if it is your wool and needle flannet, love that stuff,,can’t get enough!
I’m glad you were able to spend time at the Lakehouse. I love your new studio space and it will fill up quickly. I got to spend some time with my own little man this weekend too. They are so wonderful.
Love your work space. I brought a yard of fabric back from Hawaii….That print was only available in that quilt shop! Brought some back for my friends also. Today I pieced a travel pillow to use while doing my handwork…just like you taught me in a class I took of yours in Bloomington, Indiana last year.
Lucky you! What a wonderful sewing space! Oh my goodness-what am I working on-way too many projects! I am doing the Latimer Farms block of the month and still making Barbara Brackman’s stars from LAST year and then when I am not working on those, I am also working on a wool primitive quilt from Maggie that she designed several years ago. It may take awhile but I do finish ALL my projects! ๐
Fabulous work and design space!! I’m sure your plan will bring wonderful fruits of amazing quilts!! Pups are so much company as long as they don’t chew on the art!
I’m stitching on a ๏ธwool quilt, my favorite thing!
I am working on some Dear Jane blocks, and just (accidently–arghhh) trimmed off the seam allowances on a 2 3/4″ square that has 13 pieces of fabric in it. hmmmm-no amount of sharpie pens will fix that one for me!! Love your new studio.
Your new sewing space looks like a dream come true for you. Since today is National Quilting Day, I’ve spent some time hand quilting on my daughters wedding quilt. Their wedding is in July and I have lots to do, so back at it. Every minute I can get some stitching done gets me that much closer. Enjoy your day!
Just finished up sewing 112 four and a half finished cream and blue nine patches for a swap. Now to cut a quilt for my soon to be born grandson. Our first and we’re so excited after having the joy of two wonderful granddaughters. Love the progress on the lake house. Just stunning.
I am working on a BOM by Lynette Jensen on Craftsy called Garden Charm. Didn’t get any sewing done on National Quilting Day because I spent the day with my 4 year old granddaughter and her mom…we had a fabulous day shopping and out to lunch!!
Oh were to begin. A very good friend just helped me organize my sewing room. It is beautiful, nothing falling out of the closet. Just finished the Moda Shuffle and gave away to a very deserving police officer. I had so much fun, I might start another one. You just never knows who will find comfort in a quilt.
Since it was also my Bday – my daughter came over (with dinner!) and help me select some colors for a new quillt and work out a plan for a border on another.
I am stitching on my completely pieced project in well over a year–everything has been wool applique or embroidery! Pattern is a Moda Bakeshop design using Fig Tree Farm House. It screams spring!
Love your new space, I am working on wool applique blocks for your Home For the Holidays quilt. We are having a sewalong on Instagram. I can’t wait to get this to the quilter, hopefully ready for this Christmas!
Love those cabinets! Cant wait to see it when you are done with it, I know it will be awesome. Tonight I am taking a break from what I am supposed to be doing and working on Stacy West’s Let it snow BOM.
Well, believe it or not, I’very just finished covering a cornice for the guest bath – sewing with a glue gun counts, right? And there’s the 3 embroidered and quilted pillow shams for a friend in the northeast, and we can’t forget my daughter’s 20th wedding anniversary king size quilt, can we?
Jeter looks comfy, everywhere he goes! Your new studio looks dreamy!
Your studio looks wonderful! What am I stitching? Just like you, I love small blocks. I am working on a 4 inch finished foundation piece pineapple block done in scrap reds and creams. Each block contains 33 pieces of fabric. I am planning on making a king quilt. Doing this intricate sewing and quanity has taught me patience! My sewing machine just died, so into the repair shop tomorrow for CPR ! I love, love, love your newsletters! I am hoping to get to your store in Menasha within the near future on a road trip. Thank you for all of your inspiration! <3
I, too, am in the process of moving, and so I can identify with the pain and excitement of moving your quilting room . Good luck with it. Since I am on vacation now, I have a tumbling blocks quilt that I am hand piecing as well as some embroidery that I am working on. When I get home, I will be starting a new project with some friends. ๐
Finally started piecing this year’s raffle quilt for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society! This will be the fourth year, but each year I wonder if I’ll be able to pull it off. Hope I can get it done in time. National Quilting Day was my motivation to complete the first two blocks.
I finished stitching block 2 of backyard gatherings and fused and stitched some of block 3. I’m doing this in the light colors and am loving the pastel colors after working on some darker projects. It makes me happy. Love the photos of your studio and am envious of your space and storage cabinets. It’s just beautiful! Can’t wait to see the space decorated.
I so understand everything your going through. Been there about 5 years ago. I’m making a quilt for my hubby and working on two new patterns. One is soooo not me and soooo out of any box I’ve ever owned, I can’t wait to show you. Enjoy every moment with your grandson.
Me and the kitty are working on Christmas quilts for the grandsons. Sure wish the kitty was more help and then I would feel confident about finishing in time.
Thanks Lisa for sharing all your journeys with us! Your quilt room looks amazing with dog and all! I just went to a guilt retreat and worked on a mystery guilt this weekend. So glad I took that leap cause its going to be a keeper!
I am working on the farm girlquilt but also looking for a pattern to make one of my granddaughter’s a twin size quilt. Thanks for the update and chance to win.
I am working on a sampler quilt. I have had the pattern for a couple of years and finally settled on the fabric I want to use. So far I love the results.
Hi Lisa,
Enjoy your posts. Wanted to thank you also for the Christmas blog hop patterns. I did all 9 with all my wool and just love it. I’m working on bears now for a baby present. Thanks again for sharing your expertise with us all. Keep seeing….Yvonne
I’ve been obsessed with basket blocks lately so I just started Flower Baskets from your Little Gatherings book. I’m going to stretch National Quilting Day out to the end of the week so I can finish. I just finished block #11 in the Splended Sampler. Love your new wool and needle flannels…so much texture! Jace is just adorable and is getting so big. Thanks for the surprise giveaway.
Hi Lisa, you’re place looks awesome!!! So happy for you and Jeter! I think your plan to work from home is a wonderful idea, and how fun to work with Amy! Tell her “Hi” for me. I totally use the marker trick too. Ha! No one looks that close and it blends right in, great emergency tool. Hugs, Jakey
What a beautiful space! Best wishes for many hours of happiness in your new home! Of course, I am stitching my THREE primitive Gatherings BOM’s as I travel for work!
Working on block 11 of The Splendid Sampler..2 blocks per week for 50 weeks..Enjoying the process and learning all about piecing small pieces..Starch is the key!,,,
Happy quilting day everyone!,
Celebrated the day by getting my new 15 year old rescue kitty adjusted to her new home. She must have known in was National Quilting Day because the place she feels most comfortable is in my sewing studio! Have a Blessed Easter!
Just finished the third sashing for Somewhere in Time and prepping block 3 of Backyard Gatherings. My guild had a quilt show this weekend. I entered Sunflower Gatherings and won third place! Thanks Lisa for designing such a beautiful quilt!
I spent National Quilting Day with some wonderful friends. We are making baby quilts to cover the isolettes in the NICU for a local hospital. It was a good day.
I’m finishing a quilt started a long time ago from Black Mountain Quilts called Sand Castles.. I hand pieced part of it and finished by machine, because it was on point. Last year I decided to finish two quilts for my two wonderful aunts in Texas, and I’m going in April to gift them. I’m also getting ready to be a grandma for the first time so I have quite Few projects in mind for the little one. You are a great inspiration- congrats on your new home.
Hi Lisa,
I sewed on some mini blocks by Pam Buda that were in the latest issue of APQ. Also made binding for a quilt that is at the long arm quilter. I love your new place…I will be at your class here in Michigan on Tuesday. Can’t wait to meet you. Love everything you do!
Your studio looks awesome and where you will spend many happy hours. Can’t wait to see it all finished and the way you will decorate it. Little Man is precious and Jeter is one happy dog!!!! Love the Sharpie idea, never used that method but I will from now on!
Lisa…The new studio looks amazing!! Can’t wait to see the inspired finished project..because honestly…isn’t such a personal space like that need “feelings” and “passion” when it’s getting organized! I am working on numerous smaller projects now that my Primitive Garden quilt is complete and off to the quilter (what a fun and beautiful quilt you created with that one!). Started a couple of the seasonal flag runners for spring and summer and a small Easter wall hanging (better move that to the front of the line if we are going to get to enjoy it this year ๐). Thanks again for the peek in the new studio and it’s great to know I am not the onlybone that pulls out a sharpie dlfrom time to time. BTW..my dogs favorite spot is in the middle of my sewing table, sound asleep with all 4 legs in the air. Haha. They just make it home!
I am visiting my granddaughter in Colorado in 2 weeks for my daughter’s 30th birthday, so I am making little Charlotte a Little Red Riding Hood doll and doll quilt to bring with me. Love the new space…
Little man is adorable and getting so big. Hope it works out for you to work from home Monday’s and Friday’s. Your studio space is amazing!! I love that Jeter likes to hang out with you there. I have my two with me in the sewing room every day, they are great company. Today I worked on the 3 1/2″ churndash blocks that are the final border of the 10th anniversary sew along. I was doing good keeping up and seeing from my stash and then didn’t have a long enough piece of the green wool in the 2nd to last border and it got put away. When I was in Wisconsin last fall I came to your store and got what I needed. Just now finishing it up. Love it. Better late than never, right.
Looking forward to the reveal of your summer block of the weeks.
I’m obsessed with basket blocks lately so I just started Simple Baskets one of your little quilts. I just finished block # 11 of the Splended Sampler quilt along. Love your new wool and needle flannel…so much texture. Jace is just adorable. Thanks for the surprise giveaway.
So fun to see your progress. You have done such a wonderful job on your new home. I just finished a metro rings quilt. Sewing the rows together on a bordered periwinkle quilt.
Love a mystery! I have been quilting this weekend ~ two UFOs. An Attic Windows lap size quilt and a table topper full of chilies for a friend’s birthday! And now, on to the bindings… What a great space and cute companions you hang out with!
Almost finished with Geranium Beauty and it truly is beautiful. Needed something Spring inspiring and this has surely fit the need. Love your workshop, should be jealous but I am just thrilled for you. Where did you find black cabinets? I was looking into Horn furniture but the colors don’t fit in my decor.
Love your new space. Start filling up that beautiful furniture. I am hand piecing some 4 1/2 in. LeMoyne stars for a project. What a pain in the ####! Thank you for the chance for a surprise!
Mary
I’m in the process of several projects, but the most pressing one right now is for my 10 year old grandson. It is a Star Wars quilt for his bed. I got 2 kits at RD2CA and am combining them. Also a few projects that I purchased at the CA Primitive Gatherings shop. You were there the day my group came up to spend our money!!!! So fun to see you again.
Your grandson has grown so much. I am working on two projects – one at the machine and one in my head. The machine one is called Cathedral Windows and would be more fun if made with bright colors. It’s made with Civil War colors as everyone in my friendship group exchanged strips of fabric for it. Mine is bigger as I’m making it for my sister. The other piece is being planned as it’s a guild challenge using certain fabrics, etc. i know some of what I want to do but haven’t decided how to do it. Thanks for sharing the studio and Little Man photos with us.
Ooops, I forgot to say your studio is awesome. I’m very envious. Makes me want to reorganize my space and weed out some stuff!!! One of these days I WILL DO IT!!!! Maybe I should keep looking at your pictures to inspire me!!
I’m working on some string piecing for Talkin’ Turkey, a Bonnie Hunter pattern and I’m quilting an Irish Chain baby quilt for a friend’s granddaughter. You’re so lucky to have such a beautiful quilting studio!
We, too are moving. Going from home in Illinois, to a winter place north of Tucson. Each trip involves 27 hours in the car and I am working on Primitive Garden III. What a great way to pass the time!! Enjoy your new home and studio!
I’m finishing up your No Place Like Home and there truly is no place like home. It’s been a quick and really cute project. Can’t wait to finish it and put it on a table.
I’ve been working on Mr.Snowman for my grandson, Charlie. His name fits perfectly ( I’d post picture, if I knew how!). Your little Jase, is about same age. Top is done, now to quilt it! Great pattern and instructions! I just finished quilting Homestead…. Did you know there are a jillion half square triangles in that quilt??? Everyone has a little feather design in it ( so, who is the crazy one๐ณ). Absolutely love it! Love your fabrics and designs!
Most of today I worked on the cotton SBOW from Ca, the bow ties. Friends think I am a bit loony to enjoy these tiny pieces. After the evening meal I switched to a crocheted rag rug made with strips cut 7/8″ to 1″ wide. A great day.
I am working on a Blackbird Designs quilt called Home Sweet Home. Yes, I know I is OLD – but it is hand appliqued and hand quilted and I am slow! In my defense – I’ve done many newer items since starting this one. So I am determined to get this one done!!! Wish me luck. By the way, your new sewing room is gorgeous!
Since I’ve been sick at home in bed, I’ve been working on several of my wool projects and getting lots done! I got so tickled about the sharpie repair- I do the same thing when needed! I don’t share that info normally but now it’s out! I don’t feel so guilty about it now! ๐ Love your new spaces!
I just finished a Double Wedding Ring quilt for our oldest granddaughter’s wedding. Now, I am working on the second wedding quilt for another granddaughter. I am busy all the time. I also work in some Christmas gifts as well.
Yep, I’ve used the sharpie trick. ๐ Right now I have about 6 projects going on. Once of which is the Backyard Gatherings BOM (Dark Version). I absolutely love it!
Your studio is going to be amazingly gorgeous. I’m working on hand applique for a row quilt exchange and then on to some wool applique I’ve already prepared.
I am working on a paper bag pattern from your shop from a while back, the one about stats and our loved ones looking down and smiling at us. I love that thought.
You won’t believe this, but I’m finishing a SBOW from 2008! It’s called Summertime and I’m finishing the last block. I love it and now that I’ve just retired, I have the time to finish some of my UFOs.
Sooo many cabinets to fill … soooo much fun! Enjoy that beautiful new space. I’m finally putting blocks together on my Allietare quilt by Bonnie Hunter (renamed “the never ending quilt top”!) Candy
I also use the sharpie trick when I am SID and come out of the stitch line, just color the thread the color of my fabric, so my SID doesn’t look wobbly! I am working on a 9″ wool needle book that will have my initials on it. We moved to our dream home almost 2 years ago, and I am still tweaking my sewing room!
Stitching using your Songbird fabric (a fatquarter bundle) and using the instant Antique spray to make it look old. Playing with the layout. Leave it square or on point. I think on point already thinking about how to quilt it. It’s funny how your mind jumps a head.
I am working on the Friendship Rose mini quilt we just received on the cruise. I have all the wool cut out and ready to put down. It’s going to be so pretty!
I am stitching on so many projects right now!!! BB free BOM, Dawn Heese’s basket blocks, your Primitive Garden, plus I have a longarm business! Like so many of us I can’t imagine not working on some project everyday!!! Happy Stitching everyone!
So grateful for that first wool appliquรฉ kit from your booth in Houston in 2007 that started my obsession! I loved taking your class at quilters station in lees summit. As I teach and do trunk shows I say ” primitive gatherings” a million times. Thank you! Tonight I’m stitching on wool as I do most days.
I am working on a quilt for my bedroom – fabric is Curious Nature by Free Spirit. Also working on Village Green by Maggie B and a couple of other small projects – you know………
I’m not sewing at the moment because we’re moving too! We sold our house in MI and are going to buy a house in Florida but haven’t found the right one yet! Everything we own including my sewing room is in a trailer! Our summer place has no water until the end of April so back to Florida we go to find a house! Good luck with the rest of your move!! I’m looking forward to seeing the new SBOW!
I just finished a girl baby quilt and have a boy baby quilt to make now. Your new studio looks so amazing. Love the pictures with your grandson and your dog trying to find the “best”spot in the new studio.
I just finished a wool Welcome banner from Summer Gatherings, and a little quilt from one of the BOMs. It’s late and I can’t remember the name๐, Anyway, I am loving your new studio! I can’t wait to see the pictures! ๐
Beautiful home, Lisa!! I’m looking forward to seeing how you fully decorate it.
I’m working down on my stack of UFO’s right now; finishing a strip pieced mega quilt by Bonnie Hunter.
Thanks for the chance to win.
Stitching using your Songbird fabric (a fatquarter bundle) and using the instant Antique spray to make it look old. Playing with the layout leave it square or on point. I think on point and think about how to quilt it. Funny how your mind jumps a head
Working in my states BOM and my nieces wedding quilt among others. Also packing as I will be at your class on Tuesday in GR. So excited to finally learn from the master.
Love your new sewing studio–you deserve it! I am working on a patriotic plaid summer quilt using woven fabrics, and have the blocks all done. Just have to put it all together now. The blocks are 9 patches, all half square triangles–using plaids and a cream background for one half of the triangle. Loving it so far!
Sounds like a wonderful respite. I am trying to finish my nieces wedding quilt and State BOM. Also have to pack as I am going to GR to take your class on Tuesday and Wednesday. Finally get to learn from the master. So excited. See you soon. Susan
I am so envious of your sewing studio! My room is 9×10, and it holds my sewing cabinet, ironing board and cutting table + 2 large dog beds. I have two Goldens and they want to hang out where I am just like your pup does. Thank you so much for sharing pictures of your beautiful new space, it’s so inspiring.
Lisa — I am so happy to see your new sewing studio and know you will be busy and productive there. And, please tell me when you have never been hard working??? Just loved having you as a teacher at Village Dry Goods a couple of years ago!! For NQD Saturday, I worked on a pattern called “Cobblestones” by Amy McClellan – lots of little 3″ seams stitching into corners – right up your alley! Then made an apron from one of my husband’s shirts to show at our quilt meeting tomorrow. LOVED THE DAY! You are the best!!
I am presently working on a quilt for my youngest granddaughter, a Star Wars quilt for my grandson, and I really have to start a baby quilt for a good friend having her first baby. I am determined to get them all done on time. The only problem? We have a new puppy in our home. Hunter a bundle of energy and mischief. Wish me luck. I think I’ll need it.
Working on donation quilts…making seven at the same time. These are for senior citizens moving into assisted living/Alzheimer’s units and the quilts are a welcome gift to say “you are loved”. Sometimes these seniors move into the center with next to nothing and are so happy to receive a quilt of their very own. I love making quilts for these seniors, even though I will never meet any of them…the rewards are all mine! Thank you for the giveaway, Lisa! Your new studio is awesome! Enjoy every minute you can spend there.
Love hearing the news about your new home and what you are working on. As for me, I am making hst for the Winnebago Waves, pattern that I picked up in your CA shop this month. Must tell you what a sweetheart Drew is. She came to the “sisters” retreat center for the Traveling Quilters retreat, and brought us a bag of special treats, fat quarters, etc. Many thanks to you too for your generosity! Happy sewing in your new space!
Have fun filling up that BEAUTIFUL studio!! Right now, I am trying to finish up the rainbow garden blocks I got back in 2014 as bom, along with the SBOW 2014 from Primitive gatherings. Last nite, & today did the BOM from buttermilk basin, & also on 3 little red button mini’s, plus cut out a king size quilt last week with The Little Black Dress fabric line that I have had curing in my stash, so lots going on! Loving every minute of it!! Love being creative!!
I am working on a BOM from my local shop. And just starting Moda’s “Go tell it on the Mountain” for my son and daughter-in-law that recently moved from Illinois to Arkansas.
Lisa your new home is lovely, thanks for sharing pictures. You deserve this lovely space for respite. I lost my husband after a 2 year journey with cancer, retirement did not happen. Please remember that as I know you work very hard, as I did in my profession. I am working on the Splendid Sampler and I got behind, it is a little difficult to focus as you probably know from your losses. Anxiously awaiting your block for the Quilt Along.
I’m glad you are having fun in your new home. It looks wonderful and I would Love to have a sewing room even a quarter size of what you have. I have the smallest bedroom in the house and I have LOTS of fabric and sewing misc. but I don’t want to sew in the office in the basement so——–. Enjoy your new home and please continue to share pics. Thanks for the tour!!
Congratulations on moving, what an exciting for you! Love that you are sharing photos ;-D
I’m working on an embroidery and piecing project called Sundress by Crabapple Hill.
I am finishing up a quilt I started years ago called “Garden of Stutches” by Backyard Quilts. I bet that rings a bell for you!!! I did it in cottons, no wool. Got stuck on the outer border and put it away.. I recently got on a kick to finish these half done, started years ago quilts. One more border to put on and it will hang in the done pile. I think this is one of my favorite quilts, so thank you Lisa!
Love your new space and home. I just spent the last 4 and a half days at a retreat with a bunch of friends. Got one ufo pieced and a second one mostly done. I also worked on some wool applique.
I;m working on a strawberry row quilt as a guild challenge. So far I have 5 rows and the pattern picked for the last big block row. Then spacers, This quilt may cover the county. I had not realized how much longer it takes to pick and cut fabrics for the same block in a row as it does for a whole quilt. And I’m really making a mess. But I love it, and the pieced strawberries and appliqued birds and flower pots are cure as they can be. Lucky recipient.
i am a homemaker with 5 grown children currently living 100 miles from home taking care of my mom who had a stroke.
I am quilting a curvy log cabin on my domestic machine, my first time. Also working on a wool blanket, Summertime Sampler! I’m really enjoying myself ๐
Beautiful quilting studio. Just finished the blocks for the Merry Christmas Quilt by Heart and Hand, I have the Holly and Poinsetta Table Runner ready to appliquรฉ. It is quite large and will take me a while to finish.
I live in Watertown SD and we traveled to your shop in WI this weekend. I was on spring break from my kindergarten classroom and we were on our way to visit our son in Walworth, WI. We went just a bit out of our way so I could “shop” and experience your place. On our way to my son’s I cut out various wool projects that I had prepped before we left on the way home I was able to start on one of them. All are from your patterns, the one I chose to work on first is the white daisy table topper. Love wool and love your patterns, just wish I wasn’t so far away.
I am already working on Halloween projects – my favorite time of the year! And now that we are suppose to be getting up to a foot of snow this week I will have time to sit and enjoy doing it. Never a dull moment (weather wise) in Wisconsin.
I just finished Warm Winter Gatherings! I just love how it came out and plan on hanging it in my living room. I’m in progress on 13 two of a kind pin cushions for my sewing buddies and I’m next going to start piecing The 9 patch blocks on Lisa’s Garden (already finished the appliquรฉ. Just love working with your fabrics and patterns! Love your new sewing room and your work plans!
Your quilting studio is to die for!!! Thank you for sharing. So excited for you! I have been sewing on my 365 Challenge quilt blocks, my Moda Sampler blocks and three Lil’ Red sets for three of the granddaughters for Easter. So many projects, so little time!
I am working on SBOW from 2 summers ago. I still love it. The mention of your plans for this years SBOW’s is spurring me forward. Thanks for sharing your plans.
I am finishing a tumbler quilt-I cut out 736 tiny tumblers from reproduction fabric! Am I crazy or what? Well, it turned out beautiful. I have the borders sewn on and now am ready to quilt it. In my “spare time” I am working on Lori Holt’s Bloom A Long block of the week. Love your new sewing room-it is gorgeous! Enjoy. And your little grandson is just precious.
Love your studio! Today I finished two pieced quilt backs, fiinished Old Tyme Santa quilt top and got back ready for a wool Christmas table topper I took class from you in Walker many years ago
Fixing a couple of spool blocks that I must have been asleep sewing together last night. You know sometime much later then I should of been doing anything requiring eyes being focused. The things we do to ourselves when we can’t wait to see how it will look. LOL.
Working on my sisters pieced quilt and various little wool projects. Doing a lot of preping so I have stuff to stitch on our way to the quilt shoe in Kentucky in April! Can’t wait! Hope PG will be there!
Finished two pieced quilt backs old Tyme santa quilt top, and got back cut for Christmas table topper that I took a class from you many years ago in Walker MN
Holly’s Garden and the Japanese fabrics arrived this week so I’m getting organized to start that project! Thank yoU! Your studio looks amazing and so looking forward to the SBOW!
I am like you, in the middle of a move, so the stitching has been put aside until the sewing room gets set up. I just finished the binding on a quilt for the new house, but that is all. Lucky, lucky you to have that darling little grandson to spend time with, what a great distraction!! ๐
I am working on the latest block of the Splendid Sampler and waiting patiently for midnight so that I can get directions for doing the Bloom block #10 from Bee In My Bonnet. I love seeing the pictures of your new house, can’t wait to see it all decorated, enjoy that beautiful new studio.
I am working on a scappy quilt with little 2″ squares….not sure how it is going to turn out but I’m keeping my fingers crossed ๐
P.S. Your grandson is a real cutie pie!
This week I have been sewing a birthday challenge quilt. It has been out of my comfort zone with all bright fabrics but a great time putting it all together . This quilt is so much like the birthday girl Harriet. It’s bright fabrics and I used one of her patterns. Now I get to plan my next project.
Hi Lisa
Luv the studio, many years of fun stitching… I’m working on my appliquรฉ from the Grand, a couple of blocks of the week, & trying to finish at least 1 ufo each month….happy stitching carolyn
Working on Summer Crazy Quilting Mat and also adapted a Christmas one using left over wool fromr all the others. Started the specialty stitches — my favorite part.
Stitching on a monthly mystery wool stitch along done by folk artist Rebekah L.Smith. Our group gathering this spring has us working on all of your little gatherings – I’m fondling a lot of fabrics and wool right now – hard sometimes to pick one piece over the other.
I really love before & after pictures…can’t wait to see your studio all pretty & decorated! You are an inspiration and yes I have cut short every once in a while as I cut in layers to save time! Lol! Give that grandson a big hug for all of us who have watched him grow!
Still working on last year’s SBOW. This week I managed to get two more blocks totally done! I’m hoping to have this top finished before I start the new SBOW ๐
Fantastic sewing room! I am working on finishing up 3 quilts. Two are ready to be made into a quilt sandwich and then FMQ. The third needs borders and then I can finish it up also.
I truly enjoyed seeing some of the pics of your new home. It’s very inspiring. I’m working on the splendid sampler just for fun. I have loads of other things I need to sew but I needed something for myself. Something fresh! Vicky Krause
Hi Lisa! Thanks for sharing your new place. It looks beautiful!!! I am still working on my bow tie block of the month. I now have everything cut out and about half of it pieces. I had surgery in the middle of all of it so I took a break. Feeling much better now and hope to have it done by the end of next month. It’s super cute and fun! Where are you at on yours? And when will you be back in Cali? ๐
Lisa, Your studio is incredible!! What an inspiring creative space! And I’ll bet Jeter is thinking he is one spoiled dog, that his people went to so much trouble to give him some nice new spaces for napping. : )
Had to laugh about the Sharpie markers. I have only ever done that…about a hundred times since you taught that trick in a workshop! My marker selection really pales in comparison to yours, though.
I have been in a quilting frenzy trying to quilt up the stack of little quilts that has been growing. So far this year I have finished 15 of them, and have 7 more basted and ready to go! I am in little quilt heaven!
Love the new space! I’m working on the first border of your primitive garden and busy sewing all the hour glass blocks used for sashing. I just finished Winter-ific and love working with the small pieces. Your use of spray starch makes it so easy. Keep designing and I’ll keep buying. Looking forward to the SBOW — I skipped last year to catch up on the ones before — I’m not telling how that turned out! Thanks for all you do!
We moved 2 years ago and bought new furniture right away.b such a big mistake! I was surprised it took about 6 months to get a feel for things So you are on the right track. English paper piecing sounds like fun. How will we ever decide?! Thanks for all you do!
Like the pictures of the studio! I need to clean up my sewing room and get organized. I read to the end and I am working on a wool appliquรฉ on flannel wall hanging called “Woodland Babies” for my grandson. Just finishing up the binding. I have a dog that does the same. Tucker and I let my husband think Tucker is his dog…
Your new studio is so beautiful! I hope you enjoy it for many years—you deserve it ๐ I’m working on a Texas-themed quilt for my son who lives there. It’s going very slowly because I work full-time plus a part-time job AND I ran out of border fabric—-sheesh………………it will get done someday!!!
Just loving your new studio. Also envious of all the wonderful space….you will have such fun filling all those drawers and cabinets. I am stitching on a Baltimore Album Quilt using the many scrap packages I purchased from Primitive Gatherings. The variety of pieces/colors are perfect for this project.
I am stitching on a red & white(dark red prints & muslin) kit I bought 10 plus years ago at JJ Stiches in Sun Prairie! Lol!
I have so much stuff I am making myself do 2 things from my stash before I can do something new. With the sbow coming up I need to get to work! Why do we need all this stuff anyway! I’ve been in my house for 8 years and still don’t have it the way
I want it!
I am putting the binding on the Buttermilk Basin 2015 mystery BOM. It’s a birthday gift for my BFF. I was wondering if you had any influence on Stacey using all those HSTs for the sashing. I love how it turned out. Your new quilting space is WONDERFUL.
Beautiful home! Handsome baby! So happy for you! Easpecially love your star rug! I spent much of the day similar to Jeter, but not on the floor!?! Also worked on a Cal King dresden plate layout. Starting to wonder what was I thinking? Happy Stitching!
Just got up this morning and it’s nice to read your news! So nice to show photos and be able this way to look around! Love the floor in your studio, we have the same ๐ . Right now I have to take a shower and get off to work! But when I’m back I want to sandwich my little basket quilt so I can quilt it tonight. Working at many projects at the same time all the time…
Hi Lisa, I must say how much I am adoring your new home. Your studio leaves me speechless. The photos are wonderful, thank you for sharing. But what am I sewing at present? Well, a geometric design wedding quilt for a niece, blankets, bibs and burp clothes for a god daughter and frilly skirts for a great niece. One day I may actually make something for myself!! ,lol
I am currently in Singapore for my son’s wedding celebration. I came with three projects for the 30 hours of travel to get here. (14 hours straight on the same aircraft). I finished the wool appliquรฉ on a pillow, the appliquรฉ for a quilt block, and have made 4 English paper pieced hexagons. All of these projects were prepped at home, which has made them all very portable. Wonder what I can find to do on the way home?
Your new sewing room is gorgeous! I love love love the black furniture!!!! Mine is a DISASTER right now but I cannot keep it perfectly nice and tidy….I’m working on another quilt top and just finished one…I’m doing pinwheels in all “antique” looking florals; just finished one for my sister in law that’s nothing but civil war reproductions. Enjoy your new space….your dog is gorgeous!!!!! In stitches in Arkansas, Deborah
Lovely studio. I finished placemats as a birthday gift for a special friend. I am now finishing a rag quilt for ME. After cleaning and Easter, back to all that was put on hold before Christmas!
Wow, that is one perfect studio, gorgeous! It must be so inspiring to work there. Myself, right now I am working on a scrapquilt, long overdue, soooo many scraps. Making it on my old Featherweight machine, called The Duchess, love her, grand old lady, she make lovely stitches.
I’m working on some string piced stars for a project Linus quilt….I hate all the bias and wish I could colour with a sharpie to rectify the problem โบ…Love your new sewing space and I don’t think it will be long before you have it just as you want it
Sue….
What a beautiful and well planned space. I am trying to stitch in the ditch a mini pineapple log cabin. Now I know why people avoid stitch in the ditch. In the evening I sew hexagons for the Susan Smith Stonefields border.
Love your photos and such an interesting blog! I am currently working on a quilt for our 6 month old Canadian grand daughter who we will be visiting for the first time in July. We are so excited! I’ve decided to keep the quilt to a simple broken dishes pattern but in pretty fabrics and with lots of soft hand quilting. Hopefully her mother will like it! Thank you for the chance to win your giveaway.
Love the look of your new studio. Congrats for seeing some results of all your had work. I’m currently sewing down wool applique on some blocks from At Home in the Garden. Love your Temecula store too.
I worked on the Moda Shuffle quilt blocks Sunday along with finishing the detail on a wool rabbit applique pillow and prep work to begin a new wool table mat.
Gorgeous is the first word that pops into my head when I see your studio. I am also happy to hear that you will be able to work from home a couple of days each week so you can fully enjoy your new space. I am working on the Splendid Sampler mystery quilt. Today I will be shoveling snow. Luckily it is spring snow so it won’t be around too long. Little Man is such a cutie with a bit of impishness in that grin. Enjoy your day.
Hey Lisa your studio is coming together beautiful, and your little dare devil is an angel in disguise. I am stitching away on the long sashings of the SBOW , it is a matter of keeping my eyes down and thinking nice thoughts because after the 20th or so flower, the challenge is to finish. Cordial greetings from Holland and the best wishes for happy and healthy times in your new house and studio, joke dingemans

I have been working on costumes for the local high school musical, so no quilting for me. The show has over 300 costumes needed, so the production is huge. My youngest child graduated almost 6 years ago, this is a labor of love.
Love your black cupboards!! Can’t wait to see it when you are done, will be awesome!! I am taking a break from what I am supposed to be doing, and working on Stacy West’s Let it Snow BOM.
I love your studio and the color of your cabinets are beautiful. Don’t worry before you know it all the cabinets will be full and you will be looking for more storage space.
I am working on a t-shirt quilt for a graduation gift. Not really what I would like to be working on but when I finish I would like to finish up my pieced SBOW from last summer.
\
I am really loving your picture of your studio. Thanks for sharing. Right now unfortunately I am not working on anything as we are packing to move out of this house. So sadly, my sewing is all packed. Boo Hoo !!!! Be sure to share more pictures of your studio
Lisa, your sewing studio is beautiful and spacious. I’m sure you will enjoy decorating it. I’m jealous of your large black cabinets and beautiful flooring. Thanks for sharing your move to a new home/state, ‘your’ dog Jeter and cute little grandchild.

Several years ago, Jo Morton had a fabric that was black or navy with fairly large (1.5 or so) white/cream stars. I wanted to fussy cut squares with a star centered, but the size square I needed allowed for bits of other stars to show–just the points–but it was enough to distract the eye, so I used a navy blue sharpie to fill it in. It worked like a charm! I’m between projects at the moment, but I think I may start cutting some tiny flying geese today. Enjoy your new studio.
I’m working on 3 things at once, and all 3 nearing an end! WooHoo! The one I want to tell you about is (drum roll) GARDEN OF STITCHES!!!!! I started it in 2005. Last night I finished the binding. Now I am attaching the sleeve. I love it.
I am working on a Edyta Sitar Quilt form her Friendship Strips and Scraps Book Had the book for a while but i love the quilts in it and decided to attempt one or two
I love your new sewing space! I started a new project on national quilting day – a sew along from the Temecula Quilt Company. It started 2 months ago, so I was way behind. There are 2 1/4″ blocks in the center medallion, which I was able to finish thanks to my wonderful husband who took care of everything else so I could keep sewing! I’m also trying to finish up an embroidered and pieced Halloween wallhanging. Embroidery is not my strength, but I’m getting better.
I love the fact you have made a special place for your dog who chose you๐ I have 3 they r always in my craft room with me!๐ถ Love new place, thanks for sharing! I am on road with hubby โฃ
Great space, love the black cabinets and all the cubbies. I promised myself I would get some of those UFO’s done and I’m doing it. Not happy about it (always love NEW projects best) but I’m happy as I finish each one. In the process of doing Enchanted Autumn. Way to much needleturn at one time for me – but I promised! LOL!
Beautiful home studio ! We all wish we had one and of course your TALENT! You are a busy lady, enjoy your family, new home and keep bringing us beautiful projects!
I love your new studio! Can’t wait to see if decorated! I am working on a sample for a new pattern……pennies, pennies and more pennies. Round and round I go!
I’m making myself finish a 2 year old BOM quilt, the sandwiched huge quilt is half finished under my regular size Elna. And this is hard, my brain wants to allow my fingers & eyes to lovingly caress new fibers! Love your new fab sewing studio and gorgeous dog. ๐
Loving the progress on your new home, especially your studio. Spent National Quilting day at an all day stitch-in with 19 of my quilting sisters- it was also the birthday of our group – we had a great day! I spent the day working on applique blocks – and talking!
I’m working on Words To Live By…trying to finish up quilts that were started and put aside to work on new quilts. Of course the new ones became “old” ones also..lol. I have finished Sunflower Gatherings, and My Enchanted Garden in the past month and just need to have them quilted. I’m on a roll!! Love your new quilt space, and your nook for relaxing:)
Love all of your new storage! I am a snowbird this winter….from Wisconsin to Hilton Head, South Carolina. And I don’t have my sewing machine. But I did have three of your table mat and runner kits that I finished. Love them! Can’t wait to get home and see my Machine and get to your shop!
I love you new sewing room. You should be well organized in it. I also use the marker trick. I especially use it if I am stitching in the ditch with a light thread and I accidentally get a stitch on the darker fabric. Works like a charm.
York studio is beautiful. I too am redoing get mine. However much smaller but I love. New paint on the walls, putting different fun things on the walls. Time to purge some of my things. Only keeping my treasures. Thanks for shaing.
Wonderful space you have! I’d never want to leave! The tip using sharpie markers is great, I’ll have to pick up some for those little oopsies. Cute little man in your life!
Love your new work space. I wish my space had room for friends as well. I purchased some patterns while visiting your booth at the Mid-Atlantic Quilt Show in VA and I am now working on “Snowman for Hire.” Sweet little table runner.
WOW! What a studio! Love the flooring with the black cabinets. This year is a year for UFOs. I re-started working on “Mum Medallion” a project started two years ago. Excited to see the paper piecing SBOW. Enjoy your time in MI.
Jeter clearly approves of the new sewing room. I’m stitching on your bird table mat kit that I started when you taught at my quilt guild in Cincinnati, Ohio. I’m getting there!
When I looked at my calendar I realized I better get Somewhere in Time SBOW done so I’ll be ready for this summer stitching. Always excited to see what amazing SBOWs you come up with. I love your new space. The hardest part is putting everything in the right spot. Thanks for sharing with us.
Morning Lisa! So glad you got a whole week at home; so special. The new house is amazing and I love the cabinets! Enjoy your time there as much as possible.
I am working on assembling last summer’s Freebie ( better late than never๐). It fits right in with my new mini mood LOL!!!
Working on different projects in different places. Today I’m at my daughters house keeping my grandkids. I keep a machine and project there. Putting borders on a 2005 ufo. At home I’m working on my guilds mystery.
Your little guy is very “handsome.” Those eyes ! Love seeing your studio. I’m working on some house blocks for a group swap. Tomorrow is guild sewing day so am getting things together to sew with friends. We talk so much it will have to be something easy to sew:). Enjoy your trip to Michigan!!!
I’m working on a block of the week hand applique and some wool applique. And working on piecing a Japanese fabric quilt. I mean having just one thing to work on would not be okay, right?!?!?!!!!
Enjoyed seeing your busy life! Your work life and your Great Life with your grand son! I’ working on my second PRimitive Garden Border. Getting excited about getting it finished!!
So happy for you and your family….the new house is AMAZING:) I think your sewing room is spectacular and I love every inch of it. Right now I’m finishing last summer’s PG row from row by row. My girlfriend and I were in WI for 3 days to ‘shop hop’ and I’m putting my rows together and making a Wisconsin lap quilt.
I love your new sewing space and your sewing buddy! I have a four legged buddy too! I’m working on my first needlepoint project. My son requested a belt! Thank you for sharing.
Working on what my guild is calling “Merry Go Round”. Sort of a round robin but do your own sewing. I started with a black/gray/cream 12″ finished block and build from there. Round two is HST. I just found a new Moda fabric line with cheddars and it is awesome. Trying to figure out how I can make it work with what I have already done. Love your new studio….It must be perfect since your pooch has already made himself comfortable! Congratulations!
What a fantastic work space. And that is the most beautiful baby.
I’m working on several projects (as akways). One is the Mystery BBM from Fat Quarter Shop. So fun.
Love your studio! So jealous!
Well, I helped to organize a quilting celebration for our local guild. We had 105 ladies at the legion hall for a sewing and quilting marathon … 9am to 6pm with lunch catered, hundreds of door prizes, demos and mini teachings throughout the day. We then have a grand prize giveaway of a Janome sewing machine, donated by our local sewing machine store in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada. It’s an awesome day of sewing and friendships!
I have 3 unfinished projects in the works, theres always a holdup on one or the other. I loved your old studio and cant wait to be jealous of your new one!
I just started laughing when I looked at the kitchen table yesterday and realized I had not one but four different projects laying there that are in different stage: A wool purse, a jelly roll quilt, appliqued quilt, and the pattern for the primitive garden quilt that I need to put the borders on. My husband and I will be eating in the living room for a while.
Like most quilters I have several projects in progress but I have recently started to do EPP and have to say I’m a little hooked. I’ve done (and finished!!!) the last few years of SBOW, so I’m excited to see what you have in store for this coming summer!
I am in the process of making something for a new baby who arrived on Saturday. Her name is Violet Marie. Not sure what I am going to make yet…so happy for the parents and that she is healthy!
Working on 2011 Flower Penny Garden. I drag it around EVERYWHERE. Hope to have it finished this year. Ha! Also working on pieced 2O15 SBOW. Luv that sewing room esp with your Jeter. Your little man is getting so big. What a cutie.
I sooo look forward to your weblog EVERY day!!! This is the first time I’ve written a comment on one…I’m working on a quick quilt with a minkee backing and a couple of matching pillows for my daughter’s new house. I’m also embroidering some spring “didees” for another quilt. SPRING is always an inspiring time of year!!! Your house looks absolutely amazing!!!! I sooo wish I would get my studio done. It’s hard to balance organizing/painting with sewing!!!! Everyone wants everything FIRST!!!!!lol! Keep your “joyful noise” coming!!!
I was at the final day of our Spring retreat working on a Frivols quilt kit on National Quilt Day and first day of Spring. It was a really nice day weather wise in Kalispell, Montana.
I’m at the end of my project. Yesterday I sewed on the binding and began hand stitching. It is a quilt for our son and daughter-in-law’s 50th BDays. I’m so excited to send it off to them. Thanks for all your inspiration.
Hiya Lisa, I’m stitching on my fourth applique panel for a small needleturn quilt I designed for a little sewing class I have accidentally ended up teaching. I’m using floral gatherings which are so pretty. Next I want to turn the 4 panels on point and add some more fabric to make it bigger. All a bit nerve racking as I have lovely ladies stitching along on their own versions of my quilt and I have no idea how I will be finishing it off! Teaching has been the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done apart from be a mother. I looking forward to times with a grandchild, your little man looks so adorable.๐
Just finished your star of yesterday…while in spring break in colorado ….got a good start on your basket of flowers table runner….cants remember name ….so jealous if your studio…but you so deserve! Jmh
Hi Lisa, I am sooo excited for you and Nick. I am loving the pictures of the process. Isn’t it nice to have the company of our furry family in our rooms. Little man is getting big! I love organizing spaces and our sewing ones are the best. I agree that living with it for a while is the best or we do end up redoing it. We might anyway as we learn where we like to reach for this or get that further away. Have fun with the process. I hope you do get to keep your planned schedule. It sounds like the best of both worlds and you guys really have earned and deserve a little time to enjoy your family and new home. I have finished my snowman pillow from Stacey and am almost done my needle case and stitching pillow. I have finished a few projects for my finish it club in between and am well on my way to your advice of one project at a time. I am going to do one quilting and one woolie at a time since I do them in separate areas and at different times of the day. Thanks always,
I am so happy for you and your family! Your dream home is absolutely beautiful! Right now I am working on a hexagon I SPY quilt for our little grandson and an orange peel quilt (hand work) and I have your Home For the Holidays on the quilt frame! You have to have more than one project in the pot to make life tasty!
Great space. It will be full in no time. When we built my room a few years ago I never thought I’d fill all my cabinets and drawers. Lol. Keep inspiring us Lisa!
I made a baby quilt for a coworker on Saturday. Then started a Lone Star quilt (adaptation of your Chip pattern using 3-1/2″ finished hst’s). I’m using the stars n stripes Stonehenge fabrics. It’s a gift for my nephew who graduates April 22 as a US Marine. Looking forward to seeing the man he’s become in last 13 weeks.
I am happy to be embroidering on my second Wool Crazy block! Your constant hard work has paid off in a beautiful work space! Can’t wait to see the new creations you will make to inspire all of us!
Love your new home and studio!! You are so inspiring!! I just discovered Primitive Gatherings about 2 months ago and I am completely addicted!! Love it all!!
I am cutting out projects for my summer quilt week with friends. Also, sewing a binding on my “No Place Like Home” quilt, crocheting a baby sweater, and hand sewing “My Favorite Things” wool-on-cotton. I like to have several projects going at once.
Your new studio is a beautiful space. I am working on finishing a Primitive Gathering pattern – Home for the Holidays. Finally finished the wool blocks and will be starting on piecing the quilt.
I am stitching on a quilt for my 14 year old niece. She found a pattern of a throw on Pintrest and pinned me saying she would love it for her queen sized bed. Well she is getting it because she is a good kid and “I kinda like her a lot.” Not my colors but lots and lots of little pieces which is my style. Love how the house is coming along.
I did a lot! I made two little zipper bags for my niece, sewed the first two months of the Crossroads Quilt Along, and made great headway finishing up a Scrappy Bargello. I’m trying to get some things finished up so I can get to some new stuff I may buy when I go to Paducah next month. I love your new studio.
I’m working on BowTies!, the little ones that finish at 2 inches. I started these in 2012, but have put them away to sew other things, like your Opposite Attracts, and Rocky Mountain Puzzle, but have been working hard to get these finished…I am determined. I know you have them for your BOM coming up. I am using shirtings for the background and am doing each square 6×6, so it takes 36 BowTies to make 1 square. Lots of BowTies around my sewing room….. Can’t wait to see it finished.
Wish me luck…..hope I can stick with it. Love your new sewing room, so beautiful….and well deserved…
Happy, happy! I’m binding quilts for my peeps (grand babies) and of course busy with 5 or 6 other projects that have bubbled to the top in my happy place (sewing room)! And always counting my blessings!! Love the peeks into yours! Thanks!
Love your new studio. Every time I reorganize I forget where the new spot is, but remember the old. Have now lost 2 yds. Of black wool, lol keep the patterns and kits coming, nice.
I am working on your “Primitive garden” wool quilt. It is so beautiful. Had to wait for you to get periwinkle wool in to finish cutting out the pieces. I can’t wait to get stitching on it. Hopefully I will have some blocks to share at your retreat here in California in November.
Just got my “Words to live by” back from the quilter. In the process of stitching the binding on. Patt Blaire Hugh’s quilted it for me. She did a great job. We traded….I put together a quilt top for her and she quilted this quilt for me. I think I got the better part of the deal. It is beautiful. I love this quilt. Great design Lisa….thanks for keeping us so “in love” with quilting.
Hi Lisa. Love seeing your studio and love-love-love those rugs! You know that we quilters have multiple projects going at all times, so for hand stitching I’m still working on your stunning summer BOM w/red & white flowers. For regular quilting, I’m piecing a couple of kids quilts for guild Outreach program.
I am currently working on a pieced star quilt using Moda’s Larkspur fabrics. Next in line after that is your Songbird Gatherings Frivol. I really love the songbird motif fabric.
hi..I actually just finished a valentine quilt with all scrappy red hearts. I actually have been working one a SBOW from 5 years ago (I think) I now have 2 blocks done. Love love your studio. wish i had the space…thanks for the giveaway…..
Wow you are going to have the most awesome workspace envied by all quilters!! You Deserve it!!! Glad to hear you will be working at home half the time- mentally needed…your little man us sooo Adorable!!! Good Luck Lisa ๐
Thank you for sharing your new BEAUTIFUL home and sewing studio. Currently, I am working on two block of the months, but mostly am attempting to finish quilting some pieced quilt tops so I can begin something new. Your wool and needle flannels are so yummy to work with.
Wow you are going to have the most awesome workspace envied by all quilters!! You Deserve it!!! Glad to hear you will be working at home half the time- mentally needed…your little man us sooo Adorable!!! Good Luck Lisa ๐ have been working on hand Woolie project…
I just finished a strawberry chevron quilt for my new granddaughter who might be born today! Mom is at the hospital (my daughter) and I know they both will love it!
Yea! Finished my Lisa’s Flower Garden and love it! It was my ‘show and tell’ at our Sewing with Friends retreat in February. Wool appliquรฉ had become my current favorite obession!
Love your pictures of your new home and grandson! I’m working on putting the batting and backs on the two quilt tops I sewed this past week at a retreat.
Beautiful cabinets!! Lots of space to organize and sew would be a great benefit. Love those big eyes on the Little Man. I have two projects that need my attention–Splendid Sampler and a twin bed quilt made with Star Wars prints for my 10 year old niece. Thanks for all you do to inspire quilting, Lisa. Thanks for the chance in the giveaway.
Your home is gorgeous and I do believe you are going to love stitching in your new space. ๐ For National Quilting Day-and all this week-I’m working on a baby quilt for my new grandson.
Love you studio!! What fun it will be to work in there! I really love your wool projects – can’t get enough of them. Thanks for a chance in the giveaway.
I’m putting the binding on a quilt for a birthday challenge that is due on April 1st. The challenge was to pick a block and make it into three different sizes and put it into a quilt. Mine is a star block. The background is a small black print and the stars are different gold/mustard colors. It reminds me of a “Primitive Gatherings” style quilt.
I loved seeing your new sewing studio!!! Looks wonderful!!!
Thank you so much for he quick fix idea. I am currently working on a vintage truck wool table mat. Am addicted to wool applique at the moment and having a ton of fun !!! National quilting Day might become my favorite holiday ๐
I spent the day making Easter baskets for all my grandchildren. My dogs are always in my workshop with me. Every time I get up to iron they look at me like “we’re going out now?” Spoiled
Hi Lisa! Your sewing space looks amazing! I know how hard it can be to decide where everything should go. We just move last summer into our 20th home in 37 years! Crazy right!? But it will all tell you where it wants to be and look wonderful! Just take your time and enjoy the process. All the best, Nancy
I am trying to finish up the quilting on a quilt for my daughter’s friend. She has been living with us for the past 8 months and I decided she needed a quilt on her bed just like everyone else in the house!
I am trying to plan a new quilt with some fat quarters that have been in my stash for quite some time. We will have to wait and see how it goes. Beautiful sewing area! If only…..
Hi Lisa, I’m a member of the SWFl Quilts for Kids chapter. For the past several days I have been sewing on bindings for quilts made by other chapter members.
Fabulous sewing space! A sure spot for “geniusness” to happen! I am stitching two projects now. Just finishing the last two borders of leaves on your design “Star of Yesterday’”… Love, love, love it! And recently begun hand appliquรฉ of orange peels for a quilt featured in 2015 fall Primitive Quilts and Projects magazine… 40 of 120 done!
Enjoying stitching wool applique blocks from Lisa’s flower garden, that I purchased as a kit when I was at your retreat place a few years ago. Also working on a bright applique sampler from Piece of cake. Went to a retreat last weekend with my mom and helped her start her first wool applique, your new song bird table mat. Love your new studio and your grandson is precious.
I am so excited for you and Nick to begin enjoying your new home. And even more excited to see more of your sewing room. Thank you so much for sharing with words and pictures for us to enjoy with you!
I’m anxious to see the new flannels. I love working with them as backgrounds for my wool stuff. You need to take partial credit for me going out of my mind very soon. Everything I see on your website I want. Then I buy and then I don’t know what to start first! UFO problems? I’ve got you ALL beat! I’m enjoying my 3-1/2 yo and 8 month grandsons, Davis and Brady. They live about 3 hours away and I think I would give up all of my fabric and wool to see them every day. Love them to pieces as you do your little guy. I just saw a post of someone making your Flower Garden quilt … and now I want that pattern also! Sick! Sick! Sick! Thanks for making life exciting!
Your little man is adorable. Thanks for sharing everything! I am slow with stitching… have had four grandkids in four years and helping out….that’s my excuse. Still working on wool handstitching on Primitive Nine-patch… loving it.!
Your little man is adorable. Thanks for sharing everything! I am slow with stitching… have had four grandkids in four years and helping out….that’s my excuse. Still working on wool handstitching on Primitive Nine-patch… loving it.! Also piecing together a
“tie” quilt for each of my daughters from their Dad’s ties. He passed away in 2009 and it is only now that I can do it.
Just finished two blocks from Pat Sloan’s Splendid Sampler and working on a wool Applique project now. Your new studio is beautiful and I wish you many happy and productive hours there…keep the pictures coming!
I am working on a wool applique project today. your new studio is beautiful and I wish you many happy and productive hours there….keep the pictures coming!
Returned from the Lancaster AQS show and now putting away or petting my fabric! I need to sew the binding on my “Lucy” quilt and borders on a churn dash quilt. Wow, what a wonderful sewing area!! Love those floors.
My “National Quilting Day” was spent working on a sampler block of the month from Country Threads. It is free, monthly patterns from two years ago … I’m just now getting it finished up, but I love it! So scrappy and colorful! I can’t wait to finish it up and get it to the longarm quilter. But now that spring break is over, I’m back to my first graders … progress will be slow from now until the end of May! Can’t wait for summer …
I’m working on a guild challenge of a basket block “thing,” table runner or wall hanging?? Love your new house, grew up on the east side of the lake in Mtwc. Co.
I’m a “shop angel” so I am working on two samples for my favorite quilt shop in Southern Indiana. I have plenty of my own stuff that I’m anxious to do but thoroughly enjoy making items for the shop. Its a joy to hear when your sample is enjoyed by others. I love seeing samples when I visit quilt shops so I hope others are motivated when they see the samples I’ve made.
What fun to have all of those storage cabinets and drawers to organize! “Little man” is such a cutie! I did get to sew all day on National Quilting Day. I’m making a purple scrappy quilt for a dear friend.
You truly have a wonderful sewing space! I’m writing this while sitting in front of my ‘Snowflake Garden” quilt and working on a UFO – Jacqueline’s Album.
I just finished a prim quilt – well actually a simple block pattern of prim fabrics. I did get to Kenosha WI for a quilting workshop and lecture and trunk show by Kathleen Tracy on National Quilting Day. Fun with my peeps. I have a quilt for my daughter’s mother-in-law on the design board. Love your new house by the way.
stitching on minis from your newest book! Loved the bear paw. Much easier with the 1/2 inch triangle paper. Is the gray plank floor in your sewing area new wood or reclaimed? It is beautiful.
I use the sharpie’s too, but I use them when I am SID and wobble outside the line, I just color the stitches to match the fabric I wobbled onto. We moved almost 2 years ago, and I am still tweaking my sewing room! I am presently working on large wool needle book with my initials on it.
You are so o o Blessed to have such a beautiful work area, of course you need all the room for all that you do but I would be in heaven in that space, and of course in time I would have it filled to the brim with all the things I love to do!! I have been busy spending time with my daughter who just had my granddaughter, so cuddling and holding and changing diapers and sleepers and more cuddling and holding that I haven’t had time to work on anything for the past few weeks I did make some snugglers for the baby and doing some rug hooking!!
I don’t have much quilting time right now as I have a new puppy who absorbs my free time. I look forward to him sprawling in my sewing room like Jeter is with you. I am hoping to get a mini red and white finished soon as a gift for a special aunt who I will see in April.
Lisa: Thanks so much for sharing the pictures of your wonderful new home with all of us. No one deserves it more than you. I can see by the pictures that your new studio has been very well planned out and I’m sure a lot of effort has gone into making the space a comfortable and inspiring place for you, Jeter and Amy. I know anchor point is a very special and meaningful place for you and I know that you and your family will continue to make many new and lasting memories in the years to come. In so far as projects that I am working on, I have been attempting to finish a stack and whack project that I took a class for a zillion years ago . After hanging out with you at Carmens and Mackinac, I am so hooked on all things Primitive Gatherings. You’ve created a monster lol. I am really enjoying working on all your designs and thank you so much for providing me with so many hours of quilting fun. Can hardly wait to see you again at Mackinac island in 2017. Hugs Barb
I working on the quilting of a mini quilt in red, white, and blue. I’m quilting it in the Welsh manner so it’s taking quite a while. It’s going to be great to see things all settled and decorated. A blank canvas – how motivating.
Hi Lisa, congratulations on your new home and sewing studio, no wonder why Jeter looks so doggone happy! Who wouldn’t be with in that gorgeous room. I’m working on a buttermilk basin truck full of joy pattern that I’m making as a Chtistmas gift for my brother who absolutely loves Christmas and a forest of trees. I added a couple of extra pine trees and made a dog sitting in the back of the truck because he takes his ” Buddy” everywhere he can safely go. I love wool projects!
Yes! I have a large set of permanent Sharpies as well. My beloved quilt teacher, Billie Mahorney, taught me that they are “Quilter’s Caulk”. Just as a woodworker has caulk to fill in the tiny gaps in their work, we have markers. They come in very handy!
My dog loves to be with me too when I’m sewing. He has found several places to be so can see me. Your sewing space is already beautiful. Thank you for sharing the pictures. And thank you for sharing how you fixed your little cutting mishap. Those are the posts that help me the most – how to fix the “oops” moments.
I’m working on a baby quilt for my first grandson due at the end of April. Melissa has picked navy and gray for his nursery and I’m using Lakeside Gatherings for his quilt.
Love your new studio, enjoy. I am working on small zipper pouches. Our guild’s quilt show is fast approaching and the members donate sewn items for a boutique. The proceeds are then given to charity.
I am blanket stitching Lori Holt’s Bloom blocks, occasionally working on Lucy Boston blocks and trying to finish hand quilting the Love Blooms Here quilt from Quiltmaker magazine. Your new studio looks amazing. Love the assistant checking out the best spot to “help” from. ๐ K-
Have always wanted to take a family vacation with my grown children and their kids. It’s happening the end of June! I’m working on red, white and blue quilts for each family to use at the beach and then take home to help recall memories!!! Super excited…
First of all – I want your sewing room! I know how hard you work and you deserve it – but I am totally JEALOUS! Secondly and more important – The Little Man is adorable – I would love to scoop him up and give him hugs and smooches! Thanks for sharing.
I’m working on the crazy table mat I started in your Mid Atlantic class. That class was so much fun and I love your teaching style. I’m loving my improved results and all the hints and tips you shared. Baby is adorable. No wonder you want to stay home. Do spend as much time with him as possible. They grow too fast.
I am working on a wonderful EPP piece. Can’t seem to put it down. I am using the Hugg’s and Kisses Applique paper for my iron on shapes. Love it. Mary C.
Sooo happy for you! love your new home. I envy your sewing space!!! Also love the photos of your little man and the fur baby. I have a bigger little man ( my great grand and will have another April 05!!!). Was THRILLED you are going to do an EPP this summer. I am addicted. Am working on a Lucy Boston and the hexies on the go. Loving them. You can thank Deb for me . I took her block of the month a couple of years ago and have not stopped yet except for the wool SBOW!!! Keep them coming!!!!
Love reading and now seeing your new place. But my favorite is the pic of such a sweetie grandson. I hope you can work from home for 2 days. When you are your own boss it’s easy to never take a break and you get burnt out. Don’t let that happen. Thanks for a chance to win!!!!
Love the pictures and beautiful new cabinetry. The little man is a doll. What a thrill. I am currently working on the crazy quilt stitches on my Everyday Crazy Table mat. Love it, the kit is fabulous. I am also working on mug mats for my 40 board members as gifts!
First, “little man” is precious! I am working on a pattern I picked up on our area shop hop last weekend called “Pimento Cheese”. Yellows and reds/oranges. Love the name so much, I just had to make one.
I’m from Michigan, at a quilt retreat in WI until Thursday and for the last 2days, I’ve been working on Rocky Mountain Summer quilt from your shop! Hope things go well for you in MI, Lisa.
Cute little guy. I have have a few projects in process. I’m piecing a pattern called Hidden Friendship Star. Can’t wait to see what you have for us this summer.
Your space is wonderful. We have down-sized and I have fabric, tools and yarn every place! Takes a while to find it. I love hand work and am moving slow but sure on a grandmothers flower gardens.( and have been for a number of years now!)
Love your new sewing space and the cabinets are beautiful. As of right now I been doing alterations on some new curtain valances for my bedroom and alteration on my nephew’s Easter Sunday suit. Can’t wait to see your pictures when decorated.
Your new home and studio are beautiful!! Hope you and Nick enjoy it for many years. I’m so excited that you are in Michigan!! You are coming to my quilt guild and I have really been looking forward to taking one of your classes!!
Currently I’m working on your Somewhere in Time quilt in between a baby quilt for a new grandchild and now a quilt for my son and future daughter in law.
Congrats on moving into your new place. You’re such a busy gal!
Today I’m working on wool bom, Buttermilk Basin. I’m on last block. It’s for a dear friend’s birthday next month. When this block is done just have to get backs on. I think it will be done on time.
Have a blessed day.
Barb Baker in Alabama
What a wonderful place to create! Thank you for sharing. I’m working on a mystery quilt long distance with a friend in Wisconsin. We do projects like this to stay in touch. Also a primitive cross stitch sampler.
Happy Spring
Stephanie Smith from Iowa
I’m putting together the rows for Union Blues. I started working on it at your retreat last November at the Nunnery. Can’t wait for the next one. What fun we all had.
Yay. Glad you are blogging again. I am working on one of your “forever” wool quilts. I have been working on it so long that I have forgotten its name. It’s late and I am commenting from bed so it’s name remains a mystery but it has beautiful wool floral appliquรฉ blocks, a beautiful heavily floweredl border and a cotton piano pieced border. Wonder if I will ever get there. It’s gorgeous-just pokey fun.
Probably to late to enter, but I will anyway. Love your new sewing room. Mostly I love Jeeter. Most of my friends have 4 legs. Isn’t it great. Enjoy your new home. Don’t work too hard
I have been working the the month Birdie. Stitching away and only have three to finish. May change the settings to make it one wall hanging. Finishing each month so that is a possibility.
Hi Lisa, Thanks for all the photos. Your sewing studio is magnificent, Jeeter looks to be very happy there and “little man” is getting big. Easter will be fun with him I’m sure. I use sharpie permanent markers when doing machine embroidery to fill in slight areas that occasionally don’t get covered. I am still working on my Words to Live By as well as a DuVet cover, coffee cup sewing cozy, and a fat quarter pop-up.
Hi Lisa, I envy your square footage! I too am slowly “moving in” to my new sewing room. It’s smaller than my previous since we recently downsized to our lakehouse, making it our retirement home. I am trying to organize and decide what is important to keep in the room and what should be donated (difficult since I love it all). Two walls are cinder block so placing project/thread/pattern/fabric storage shelving there and saving the other two for books and design wall (important to me since I don’t have floor space). I have the same grey flooring! Looking forward to your new designs!
I finally finished Words To Live By. It is beautiful. It is a wedding gift for my daughter. Now I can get back to working on Evelyn’s Album and Primitive Garden. Getting close to being done with both.
Lisa-
As usual, I’m a day late and a dollar short, but I LOVE your sewing space and that rug under Jeter! Fabulous. You mentioned the SBOW and now I’m all aglow with anticipation. Even though I’m retired, I work a lot during the school year and the summer, especially the SBOW, is all about me and having the time to create before school starts again in the fall. I am perched in front of my IPad waiting for the big reveal. Keep the pictures coming. And oh, by the way, what an adorable grandson you have!
LOVE your sewing studio! Where did you find the hutches where the sewing drawer is sitting? You have worked very hard and should be able to enjoy the fruits of all your hard work. LOVE your designs!
