Happy Block Heads Wednesday!
Here is another great Quilt Block FOR OUR QUILT ALONG PROJECT: Hampshire Star
My 4″ Hampshire Star quilt block was made with Urban Farmhouse Gatherings.
Again…I LOVE how my quilt along project block turned out…I think this is the smallest block I have ever made with this many tiny pieces…it sure turned out cool…
You will have to go to Janet’s Blog to get the pattern for all the directions. But the week’s directions do not have the 4″ size…so scroll down for the cutting measurements if you are doing the 4″ blocks.
Thanks Janet for such a fun beautiful block!

Isn’t she the cutest? Can you hear her British accent! I could listen to her talk for hours…Hello Janet…I will miss you this Spring…it’s a long time til Houston!
I pieced the block a little differently than the pattern….
As you can see this makes it a little easier and less pieces…only 73, I think… if I can count right.

9- SQUARE IN A SQUARE UNITS-In the center like a nine patch
Center squares 1 1/4″ Triangles- 1 1/2″ squares cut in half once on the diagonal. Trim them to 1 1/2″ square at this point. ( the 1 1/2″ is a little big. I like to trim SQinaSQ)
4- FLYING GEESE UNITS– 1- 2 1/4″ square, cut in half twice -LG triangle 4-1 3/8″ squares, cut in half once. Geese should measure 1″x 1 1/2″ at this point.
4 HALF SQUARE TRIANGLES I used 1/2″ half square triangle paper….cut dark/light fabric to 1 3/4″ x 3 1/4″. Stitch according to directions. If not using TP…cut 2 squares/ light & dark- 1 3/8″ for exact measurements. Cut bigger if you want to trim them down. Trim to 1″at this point.
8 RECTANGLES 1″ x 1 1/2″
You will need to determine what is light/dark/medium for your quilt along project fabrics. I switched the dark and the light from the pattern…

Love the block! Thank you. Is your design wall made from a rolling window shade??? Love to know more about that!
Love your 4″ block, Lisa! My favorite scale! Im so curious about your design wall. Have you done a post on it? Or would you consider doing that? What a delightful view you have in your studio! Stay safe and healthy! And thanks for all the communication! It helps us all feel connected! 💕
I would love to know more about your design wall as well. I don’t have wall space for one, so was thinking of doing one similar to this but hadn’t research how to make one or whether they were available to buy….do tell more! Thanks!
I can see I’m not the first to ask about this here. Love your design wall idea! Did you have it made? Is it commercially available? Thank you!
I’m like the others who have already posted. Not only do I love your design “wall” but also did notice the changing seasons! LOL #Would love to know what material your shade was made from or ordered. Great idea!!!!! ******
Ok… I’ll get a post ready!!!
Thank you for the tulip pattern. I am making a few blocks for a ‘small’ birthday treat for a friend.😊
Love this little block and I also look forward to your posts, they’re always so full of info, tips and positivity…which is a huge help right now!! I have a design wall similar to yours, so my question is in a different direction!! Could you PLEASE show us the back of your block. I’m have major issues with pressing all of a sudden, especially where the points of the geese intersect with the next little seam! I know nesting and have mastered that part, it’s putting the rows together where I run into trouble. Thanks for any tips!! Also, LOVE your view!!!
Redwork Gatherings?!?!?!? That’s my favorite y! I can’t wait to see this!!!
Aha, April Fools!!! Maybe I’m seeing things, but the difference I noticed besides the gorgeous sunset, was that you had Hampshire on the BH3 design wall and then it was gone. Beautiful block. I love your redesign. Thank you Lisa.
Is there a special SQinaSQ ruler that you use for these blocks?
Thank you for a great block.
