Making Progress – Always!

Hey everyone, it’s time for another progress report! We’re at the peak of summer here in WI, and already starting to show early signs of fall approaching. It has been a busy season so far at Primitive Gatherings with a constant buzz of activity going on all week long. Summer projects are starting to come to fruition as they get closer and closer to being finished with each passing day. One of my favorite things about fall are the autumn-based projects, so needless to say I’ll be happy to clear some space in my sewing room and studio once summer tasks are finished.

Finishing a quilt is always a thrill. As I’m approaching the final steps I always seem to get a burst of energy toward getting it done – so I can move on and start something new, of course! I’m super happy to report that I was recently able to bring one of my Summer Blocks of the Weekprojects, Stars All Around into its final stages, and it’s now currently waiting in line to be quilted. I really had a lot of fun with this project because it was simple and easy to work on small sections at a time in between other projects. The pattern is a cinch to do and also makes for the perfect mini scrap buster. With something like 208 total stars, you can really put a dent in your scrap bin with this amazing quilt. All said and done, Stars All Around measures approximately 82″ x 82.”

As I mentioned, Stars All Around is one of this year’s Summer Blocks of the Week projects, which originally started earlier this season. We are getting close to selling out of kits for both the Contemporary and Traditional versions of Stars All Around,” but still have a few left of each to find homes for. That means that if you’ve been on the fence about doing this project, this is basically your last chance to get a kit! To order yours before it’s too late, hit the link below!

Just an FYI! We are only offering “Stars All Around as a PAID IN FULL option this year. This will help to reduce the cost of shipping because it allows us to send you the project directions just once monthly instead of multiple times throughout (meaning a $48 decrease in the price for our domestic customers and an $84 decrease in pricing for our International customers – wow!). PLEASE NOTE: You will be charged immediately when you place your order.

Next up, I’m also delighted to say that another one of my Summer Blocks of the Week projects, Carving Contest is also finished and ready to rock for Halloween. This darling quilt is done in strips, but to look at the finished product you don’t really notice that. I had SO much fun drawing up this pattern… The festive design is super cute, unique, and full of spunk and personality! Measuring at 51″ x 58,” “Carving Contest is an excellent choice for a fall home décor project. Its smaller size makes it ideal to display as a wall hanging or over the back of your favorite love seat or porch swing. This is another project we have very limited quantities of so again, if you’re on the fence it’s time to jump off and into Carving Contest. Get your’s now by clicking the link!

Carving Contestisn’t the only quilt on my sewing table with big personality right now. Part of our, “Just One” series, Lulu the Lady Bug is an adorable little number that is simple to make, yet has a ton of options as far as how you’d like it to look in the end depending on your fabric and color choices. You’ll be able to pick out your own background to match up with both the Dresden daisy motif, and of course the real star of the show Lulu the Lady Bug.”

If you’ve never done a Dresden before, this is a great opportunity to give it a try! Lulu the Lady Bugmakes it fun and easy, and doesn’t produce a lot of scraps because you’re using a lot of the same fabric throughout the project. Machine stitching the appliquéd areas makes it simple and fast, though you could certainly do it by hand if you’re feeling ambitious. At 51 1/2″ x 51 1/2″ Lulu the Lady Bugis just the right size to display as a seasonal wall hanging or table top décor.

Lulu the Lady Bug is a pre-order only for just a few more days. That means that when ordering, it should be the only thing in your cart! Other items currently in stock should be ordered separately so we can get it to you as fast as possible. Lulu the Lady Bug should be available to ship the week of August 8th. NOTE: You will need an 18 degree Dresden Ruler by Creative Grids for this project which you can order by clicking HERE! You will also need 3.5 yards of fabric for the backing. Remember, if you order the backing at the same time as the kit, you will get it at 20% OFF! The pattern is not included in our kits, but can be ordered separately. Lulu is 51 1/2″ square when finished. Click the link above to order now!

Do you love working with wool as much as I do? If that’s a big yes, I certainly hope you’re already a member of our subscription wool box. If you’re not, you really should be! Let me tell you a little about it. Boxes ship every other month and contain at least one major project kit and pattern, a pattern for an ongoing project, and recipe cards. Each box is centered around wool and/or stitchery, and might even contain a few novelty things once in a while. Boxes will primarily consist of Primitive Gatherings products and patterns, but we plan to have guest designers and products as well in the future. Projects are exclusive to the wool boxes for six months before they are released to the general public. Boxes are charged the 15th of the month and will be shipped after our billing cycle. Sounds great, doesn’t it? We still have openings available but spots are limited. Sign up today! Click the link above for more information.

I also have several Quilt-Alongs that I’m involved with at the moment, as I’m sure many of you are too. If you’ve been following along with the Moda Blockheads 4 series, you know that currently we’re on Block #20 – Stop Go by Stacy Iest Hsu. This exciting and unique block features a snowball shape-based design, along with multiple color combinations and layout possibilities in the pattern. Color scheme for this quilt includes a medium orange Bella Solid called “Ochre” as my background color, combined with gray-scale fabric selections from my Urban Farmhouse Gatherings II line for the other elements. Lately I have also been throwing in a bit of Zen Chic, and even used a little bit of my Lakeside Gatherings line from a few years back.

This has been a great quilt-along so far and I highly recommend it if you’re looking for one to join. Even though we’re 20 blocks in, it’s still not too late to get started! You can easily find all the information you need, including previously released MBH4 blocks in the Moda Blockheads 4 Archive listed in the main menu of links at the top of my blog page. You can also visit Moda’s Inspiration+Resources Center Page for more information, along with all released bonus blocks by clicking HERE! If you’re having trouble keeping all the details straight, you can also sign-upo to receive Moda’s weekly Blockheads blog posts via e-mail at the Inspiration+Resources Center as well.

Have heard about Letters for Santa? It’s hard to imagine that it’s just about time to start thinking about fall and even winter projects for the upcoming Christmas season. We all know how the holidays always seem to sneak up on us. I like to have a good head start on things well in advance, which is why I really love the idea of this quilt-along. Letters for Santa is a Christmas project quilt-along from Moda inspired by my, Mini Alphabet Quiltpattern. Mini Alphabet is a darling little quilt, ideal for a child’s bed or toy room. Measuring at 42″ x 42″ it’s the perfect size for cuddling, all while learning your ABC’s. Super cute, right!?

To participate in the quilt-along you’ll need both the pattern for my Mini Alphabet Quiltalong with Moda’s monthly word releases, new filler block patterns, and alternate project ideas. You can purchase the pattern by clicking the button above. For more information on this festive QAL, and access to monthly QAL releases, visit Moda’s website!

Another quilt-along that I’m really enjoying right now is my O’ Say Can You Sew” Mystery QAL. I decided to call it O’ Say Can You Sew because I have so many reds, whites, and blues leftover from previous projects (American Gatherings Quilt-Along, my American Gatherings book, and Stars & Stripes to name a few). I thought it would be a fun way to get an awesome patriotic quilt out of simply recycling my salvage. I also thought it would be entertaining to make this a mystery project – meaning you are not going to know exactly what you’re making until it all comes together in the very end! I think it’s exciting – I love the suspense!!!

How the O’ Say Can You Sew Mystery Quilt-Along works is simple and fun. On the first Monday of every month we will release a new FREE clue (there is no specific time that I will be releasing the clue – please keep an eye on the blog throughout the day)! There will be seven clues released in total. When the clue is released it will be posted not only here on my blog, but also on our YouTube channel, “Stitch with Lisa Bongean.” Each clue will be available to download as a printable PDF FREE for one month. When then next month’s clue posts, the previous clue will no longer be available for free, but can be purchased to download through our website for $5.00 each.

You MUST be squirming in your seat to join up with this QAL A.S.A.P., so wait no longer! We are already on Clue #5 but there is still plenty of time to catch up! Links to all released clues are listed in the O’ Say Can You Sew Clue Archive, which can be found in the main menu at the top of this page. This quilt was designed to be a scrap buster, but if you don’t have that kind of supply piled up don’t worry. We have fat quarter bundles in stock that will be perfect to supplement your stash. There are blues and whites in bundles of 12 fat quarters for $30.00 per bundle (that’s two FREE!). We are currently no longer offering reds in these special OSCYS bundles due to low stock.

People keep asking me how I have so much energy, and when do I sleep!? Really, it’s easy to stay motivated because I am truly living my dream. Simply put, it’s NOT WORK! I love to be ambitious and try to make sure to schedule a time to stitch everyday. I accomplish this with planning, making lists, setting goals, and doing my best to stay organized. These are the things that cause inspiration and an abundance of energy to come easy for me! Achieving my goals only drives me further forward so I can accomplish more. I love what I do!

Speaking of future projects and goals, before I go I want to remind you that my new fabric line Red and White Gatherings is now available to pre-order! I’m super excited after seeing how beautiful this collection turned out. I can barely wait! It’s made up of cream-based whites and a stunning mix of reds, ranging from middle of the road to dark and deep. Print patterns include floral, linear, and geometrical designs that span from tiny to large giving you a wide spectrum of visual variety.

If you’re anything like me, these exciting new fabrics have your mind going in a million directions. I can imagine this versatile line being implemented into several different projects I’ve been thinking about starting. You know how I love the traditional red and white color combination… Of course, I also have a design book coming out that will contain nine unique designs (12 total quilts – some with more than one version) – all based on Red & White Gatheringsfabric. If you’re looking for a bit of red and white inspiration, this book is the perfect solution! As of now, it will be available to ship in October, 2022. Quilt kits are not available yet but will be coming soon!

I know getting the finished book into your hands feels a long way off as well, but don’t fret! I DO have some good news in the midst of all this longing… As of now, pre-cuts and yardage of Red & White Gatherings” AND the project book Red and White Gatherings are officially available to pre-order from our website. Just click the link below! Not to mention, now is a great time to stock up on “Red & White Gatherings” because all pre-cuts are 20% OFF (for a limited time)! Please note: Pre-orders should be the only thing in your car when you are ordering. If you have other, non pre-order items to purchase you will need to order them through a separate transaction!

Well everyone – did I give you enough to think about? I hope you’re able to find your own inspiration after seeing these works in progress. Nothing makes me happier than being creative and sharing skills and ideas with my fellow stitchers. Thank you for being a part of it! That all being said, I wish you a wonderful and relaxing weekend. It’s supposed to be scorching hot and humid here until Sunday when we might see some relief – just in time for our big Hogs for Heroes key presentation event. If you haven’t heard, this Sunday August 8th, 2022 we will finally be presenting our chosen veteran with the keys to his new Harley through the Hogs for Heroes organization! We will also be awarding several veterans with much deserved quilts of valor, made 100% by volunteer stitchers from all over the U.S.! If you’re local and you can make it out for this awesome event, please do – there’s even lunch in it for ya (while it lasts – when it’s gone, it’s gone)! Doors open at The Gathering at 10:00 and the ceremony beings at 11. A pot-luck lunch will be served immediately after until we run out! There is no cost for lunch but cash donations are very much appreciated. All proceeds will go to Hogs for Heroes!

For more information about Hogs for Heroes and to read our veteran’s story, you can visit my prior blog post all about it by clicking HERE! If you’re not local or just have other plans, you can watch the event LIVE or catch the replay on my STITCH with Lisa Bongean YouTube channel, which you can find by clicking the STITCH button below! I really hope to see a huge turnout for this event – so don’t let me down. Be there if you can! I will see you all soon. Stay cool out there! ~Lisa

Wrapping up May with My Current Works in Progress in

Welcome back! I haven’t talked about what I’m currently working on for a while, so I thought it might be time for a little update. If you know me at all, you know I always have multiple projects going at any given time and this month is no different. Yesterday during my YouTube LIVE show, Stitch with Lisa Bongean I went through each of my active, but unfinished projects one by one to give you an idea of what my ongoing agenda has been like. If you didn’t get a chance to watch it, that’s ok. Let’s go through them again!

First up on my to-do stack is Stars All Around.” This quilt is one of the projects we came up with for this year’s Summer Blocks of the Week. I always love a quilt with multiple options to consider, and this one does not disappoint. There are two versions of Stars All Around to choose from including Contemporary and Traditional designs. Both versions will be approximately 88″ x 88″ when finished. Kits for the Traditional version are available now on our website by clicking the link below. We are just about sold out of kits for the Contemporary version so you cannot find it on the website, but we do have just enough inventory to fill about 30 more. These kits are available on a first come first serve basis, and supplies are limited. If you are interested in a Contemporary kit, please email the store at to let us know. We will do our best to fill the order while supplies last.

The Contemporary version uses only 33 fabrics to create this amazing quilt, including Moda’s Ombre Fairy Dust line. These clever fabrics make the quilt appear as though there are more fabrics being used than what there really is. And for an alternative, unlike the Contemporary version of Stars All Around,” the Traditional design uses 208 different Reproduction fabrics to create the blocks in this quilt. Pretty cool, right!?

I am also currently working on Pumpkin Carving Contest,” which is also part ofSummer Blocks of the Week.” How cute is this darling quilt?!? This was so much fun to sketch and design, and  I am beyond happy with how it turned out. I love the different personalities of every single one of those cheeky little jack-o-lanterns! It’s the perfect size for a lap quilt or to display for holiday décor around your home. Finished, Pumpkin Carving Contest” measures 51″ x 58″.

Want to learn more about Summer Blocks of the Week? Click the button below to read my blog post where I explain it all! You can also call the shop at 920-722-7233 if you have any questions.

Moving along, you all know how I love participating in Quilt-Alongs. Right now I’m involved in a couple that I’m really enjoying. Heartfelt is an awesome fundraising project for Make-A-Wish Foundation of America, sponsored by Fat Quarter Shop. I decided I wanted to participate in this fundraiser because I love helping kids, and Make-A-Wish is a wonderful organization who’s mission is just that. Heartfeltis a heart-themed quilt made up of six stunning sampler blocks, each featuring pieced hearts. It was designed by Corey Yoder based on her new Moda fabric line, Beautiful Day.” For mine I decided to stick with the heart theme, and do my quilt with all Valentine’s Day fabrics that I had left over from last winter. I also decided to do my blocks half the size of what’s featured on the pattern (in other words I did 6″ blocks rather than the 12″ version that the pattern shows).

If you follow the pattern, Heartfelt” measures 76.5″ x 84.5″ when finished. I’m right on track with this project and have the released blocks 1 through 4 complete. I really enjoy the way the Valentine’s Day fabrics are coming together on this one. Loving what you see? We still have Valentine’s Day fabrics bundles all set to go for this project! You can find the Valentine’s Day fabric bundles by clicking HERE

I’m also working on a fundraiser to raise money for WI Veterans that I’m sure you’ve heard about. I’ve been calling it my, Mystery Mission.” It’s my latest great idea to generate funds for one of my favorite charities on the planet, Hogs for Heroes. My goal is to produce and collect as many Flag blocks as possible by June 15th, 2022, which will then be used collectively to create a future project that will generate even more funds for Hogs for Heroes!

If you would like to participate in raising funds for Hogs for Heroes by making and donating blocks to this charitable mission, click the link below for the pattern and instructions to get started! One is great, but if you feel like making more we’d love it!!! We only have about half of what we need for this project so far… In other words, we still need more! Please send your finished piece(s) to us no later than June 15th, 2022. We’re super excited to get started on the final project, so if you can get your blocks to us earlier (June 1st, 2022 would be ideal) that would be even better!

To those of you who have already sent in blocks, I THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart! You all continue to amaze me with your talent and generosity every day. Keep up the great work everyone. Our veterans need us!

Since we’re talking red, white, and blue, let’s talk about my O’ Say Can You Sew Quilt-Along! Are you stitching along with me on this one? I am right on track with Clues #1 and #2, and ready for Clue #3 to release on June 6th (remember there is no set time a clue will be released, please keep an eye on my blog throughout the day).

If you’re looking for a good scrap buster project this could be just the ticket!  I’m calling this Quilt-Along O’ Say Can You Sew because I have so many reds, whites, and blues leftover from previous projects. I thought it would be a fun way to get an awesome patriotic quilt out of simply recycling my leftovers. I also thought it would be entertaining to make this a mystery project – meaning you are not going to know exactly what you’re making until it all comes together in the very end! We’re only two clues into this quilt-along so if you’re thinking of joining us you still have plenty of time! You can find all the information you need about O’ Say Can You Sew by clicking the link!

For those of you who are following along and using red, white, and blue, we have bundles made up especially for this project in case you start to run out of scraps. I know some of you decided to skip using scraps all together and have dedicated the project to new red, white, and blue fabrics. These bundles are perfect for that as well.

Are you a Moda Blockhead? Moda Blockheads is a fun annual Block of the Week Sew-Along that includes weekly exclusive blocks created by a group of Moda’s top designers. It features 28 individual designer blocks (mine included – I’m block #7!) and 8 bonus blocks, making 36 blocks in total! Moda Blockheads 4 is in full swing as we’re approaching week eleven. I decided to do both sets of blocks (9″ and 4.5″). My. color choices include Ochre,” a bright orange Bella Solid paired up with my Urban Farmhouse Gatherings II line.

I really love this color combination – it reminds me Harley Davidson colors! If you’re still contemplating fabric choices for this quilt-along and decide you’d like to do yours like mine, you can find everything you need on our website! To purchase Urban Farmhouse Gatherings II pre-cuts and yardage, click the button below. For Orange Bella Solid “Ochre” (#9900-79) CLICK HERE

Still on the fence about quilting along with MBH4? Don’t be! It’s a lot of fun and the blocks aren’t what I would consider difficult or time consuming. You still have plenty of time to catch up and can do so by visiting the block archive. You can find the archive in the main list of links at the top of my blog page. Additional information and bonus blocks can be found on Moda’s Inspiration+Resources Center page by clicking HERE! If you’re having trouble keeping all the details straight you can also sign-up to receive Moda’s weekly Blockheads blog posts via e-mail there as well.

If you subscribe to our Quilt Box you’re probably familiar with this next beauty,”Revel.” This quilt was inspired by an antique in my collection that I really love. I wanted to pay homage to the cheerful, bright colors and stunning geometric designs that it has, and at the same time change it up a bit. In my version I included a gray background to keep a bit more on the subtle side.

I’m a bit ahead of the game and already have June’s blocks for “Revel” completed, along with the mini versions of each month so far. I think “Revel” is going to be nothing less than stunning when it’s finished and I can’t wait to see the final outcome! The bold solid colors paired with bright and cheerful designs really looks perfect together. “Revel” is not available to the public at the moment because as I mentioned, it is the ongoing, year-long project in our current Quilt Box. If you’re not a member of our Quilt Box subscription but love this quilt, don’t worry! It will be available to the public sometime next year after we’ve moved on to the next Quilt Box subscription year.

Last on the works-in-progress stack is “Dragonfly Dreams,” which is an ongoing quilt project featured in our current Wool Box subscription. “Dragonfly Dreams” is another design inspired by a vintage quilt in my personal collection. I love the combination of wool appliqué paired with different types of hand embroidery and stitching. Just look at the intricate floral design work on this beauty!

My modern version uses more earth toned colors with a color palette that includes blacks, browns creams and grays. If you like this quilt and aren’t currently subscribed to the Wool Box, hang tight! It will be available as a Block of the Month in 2023.

Whew! That’s quite the stack of projects! There is never a lack of things to do in the studio – both at work and at home. But you know what? That’s perfectly ok because I love it! I am truly living my dream every single day and I am so happy that you’re all a part of it. If you’d like to watch the LIVE presentation of my works in progress you can do so by clicking the Stitch with Lisa Bongean button below. Thanks so much for continuing to read my blog and watching me on my YouTube channel. My customers and fans are what keeps us going. My staff and I appreciate every single one of you!

As the holiday weekend approaches I just want to say I hope you have a great time with friends and family. Do you have big plans for the weekend? Let me know in the comments what you and your family will be up to this Memorial Day. I always love hearing about what everyone is doing. Enjoy yourselves and stay safe out there! See you all soon! ~Lisa

Check Out My Projects in Process!

Welcome back, everyone! With so much going on at Primitive Gatherings and The Gathering last week, time really flew by! Val and I had our noses to the grindstone, both stitching and filming for our upcoming Stitch-A-Long, Meet Me in the Garden. We can’t wait to see the finished product after Kali does her video magic and spins it all into Stitch-A-Long gold. This ongoing, online tutorial with Val and I will start sometime in June/July, 2022. Keep an eye on my blog for the actual date, which will depend on the much-anticipated delivery of my new fabric line, Garden Gatherings. If you haven’t heard, Garden Gatherings is scheduled to arrive here at Primitive Gatherings sometime in April/May, 2022. We will also be making a post about what you’ll need (patterns, rulers, etc) for the Stitch-A-Long in the near future. Can you wait? Didn’t think so. Neither can I!

Looking on the bright side, April/May will be here before we know it. It’s crazy to think that April 1st isn’t even a month away! Another positive is that you can pre-order Garden Gatherings to put yourself ahead of the game for Meet Me in the Garden Stitch-A-Long. I highly recommend pre-ordering now if you have your heart set on joining us for that. There is a good chance that we may already be sold out of the fabrics you will need for Meet Me in the Gardenby the by the time the Stitch-A-Long event starts. In other words, if you’re able to pre-order now, please do to avoid running into potential availability issues.

If you tuned in to, Stitch with Lisa Bongean last week you were lucky enough to catch Val one more time before I had to whisk her off to the airport for her trip home to Vegas. We discussed some of my current projects and talked about a few that I have on deck waiting to be started as well. While she was here, Val was gracious enough to pick up where I left off on a few random works in progress, which really helped move things along on my “to-do” pile. There is always plenty to work on around here, so when she asked me if I had anything for her to stitch, I was happy to oblige. I don’t like things being unfinished and do my best not to let things pile up. I had a bunch of blocks sitting in a drawer in my home studio that needed attention, so she got busy stitching on those. Even though our styles are slightly different, I really like working together with her on projects like this. Collaborating is fun, plus now every time I look at this quilt I will think of Val and her very first visit to The Gathering! Blocks to Stitch

There are a few other things hanging on my design wall at the moment that I’d also like to share with you. I’m currently working on a cute little sheep-themed mini quilt called, Create. I combined cozy flannel in browns, grays, creams and navy blues, with earth toned wools to make this mini not only adorable, but beautiful as well. Finished, this darling little “flock” measures at 14″ x 14″, making it the perfect size for a table mat or hanging décor.Mini quilt featuring multi colored sheep

All the fabric you need for for Create is available now our website to order. You will need our special-cut, 6×10 half-layer cake of flannel (it actually is a bit more than half a layer cake), three wool charm bundles (taupe, sheep, and raven), and 1/8 yard (appx 12″ x 15″) hand dyed black wool. As a way to say thanks for ordering, if you grab one of each items needed to complete Create,” I will gladly throw in the pattern for free! You can find these items on the website under, New Items and then under, Live with Lisa Featured Products, or by clicking the link below!

Next up on the design wall is my new quilt pattern, “Revel.” This awesome design was inspired by a vintage quilt from my personal collection that I really love. “Revel” is not available to the public at the moment because it is the ongoing, year-long project in our current Quilt Box. If you’re not a member of our Quilt Box subscription but love this quilt, don’t worry! I will be available to the public sometime next year after we’ve moved on to the next Quilt Box subscription year. Look for the “mini” instructions in your April Quilt Box!

2 Blocks - one purple based, one lime green based, from my quilt, "Revel."

I’ve also recently joined a Quilt-A-Long called, Heartfelt, This awesome project is a Make a Wish Foundation of America fundraising quilt sponsored by Fat Quarter Shop. Heartfelt is currently a free download on the Fat Quarter Shop website! They do not require it, but highly encourage that a $5.00 donation be made for the pattern if you’re able to do so. Proceeds go to benefit the Make a Wish Foundation of America. In the spirit of being generous and giving, if you download this free pattern please make a donation!

The version of, Heartfelt that I am personally working on will be auctioned off in the future. Of course, all proceeds from the auction will go to the Make a Wish Foundation as well. I decided to do my quilt in a mix of Valentine’s day fabrics to go along with the heart theme. What do you think?

Want to be part of the fun ? Come join the Quilt-A-Long! Remember, Make-A-Wish Foundation grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich them with hope, strength and joy. What better way to contribute than with your own hard work, talent, and love for quilting!? Ready to sign up? Hit the link below for more information!

Val is especially excited about the next project on the board. “Dragonfly Dreams,” which is an ongoing quilt featured in our current Wool Box subscription. Dragonfly Dreams is another quilt design inspired by a vintage quilt in my collection (shown on the left below). I love the combination of wool appliqué combined with different types of hand embroidery and stitching. Just look at the intricate floral design work on this vintage beauty! My modern version uses more earth toned colors with a pallet including blacks, browns creams and grays. If you like this quilt and aren’t currently subscribed to the Wool Box, hang tight! It will be available as a Block of the Month in 2023.

Remember the American Quilter’s Stitch-A-Long Hogs for Heroes fundraising event from last summer? We are proud to say we raised over $30K in 2021 for a WI veteran in need! I am currently finishing my last set of blocks on another one of these awesome quilts that I plan to donate to a local vet. You might have noticed that these blocks were previously free downloads, but have recently been removed from the blog. We want to keep this fundraising even going, so we plan to sell this as a full quilt pattern in the near future with proceeds going to Hogs for Heroes.

If you haven’t heard of this great fundraiser let me tell you a little bit about it. Hogs for Heroes is a nonprofit organization dedicated to healing the mental and physical wounds suffered by Wisconsin Veterans during the course of active duty. They do this through the therapeutic benefits of owning and riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Each year they raise funds, purchase a motorcycle and gift it to a deserving Wisconsin Veteran Hero! How cool is that!? I absolutely love being part of such a fun event to let WI veterans know how much we appreciate them! Want to make a contribution to Hogs for Heroes? Click the link below!

Last but not least on the design board is a sneak peek of what the ongoing, 1-year project in our current Wool Box looks like. Going back to my primitive roots, this is a cute wool penny mat project is sure to delight. I’m ready to tell you what the end project will be – you’ll just have to delve in, follow along and find out! I will forever love penny mats! Stitching pennies will never get old for me.Hexagon Wool Penny Mats

Heads up! I don’t know if you’re aware, but Moda Blockheads 4 is just about here! I have the first 20 patterns in my hands already, so be aware that MBH4 is coming March 24th. Of course we will be posting all about it next week so make sure to check back for that! Also, as I mentioned on, Stitch with Lisa Bongean last week, starting in April my plan is to have a free, “mystery” pattern for you to download. I thought it would be a fun way to use the scraps I know we all have laying around from past projects. I really hate to waste fabric so I think it will be fun to come up with something we can do with the scraps. I haven’t named this mystery project yet, but I will be talking more about it in future blog posts. Exciting stuff!

I hope you all have a great week. Temperatures are finally starting to warm up and the sunshine is out. Get out there and enjoy it! Don’t forget to go to Stitch with Lisa Bongean on YouTube LIVE, Thursday at 1PM CST. We’ve been having a lot of fun picking out prizes each week so like and share, and keep those comments coming for your chance to win! Take care and remember to make time to…
