travel adventures- part 2

Hey…When you have a long weekend in St. George UT what can you do?  Stitch, Hike,  Spa, Netflix and stitch some more…

THURSDAY:On our way to Zion!  Up early, bundled up in warm clothes for our 42 degree, winter hike on my first trip to Zion National Park.

I had so much fun and want to go back to do more trails…look at this rock I was at a rock shop..

FRIDAY: We stitched in the morning and had massage appointments at Red Mountian Spa…I had the best massage ever!  Ask for Trevor…he helped with my TMJ, Arms, hands and neck…It felt so amazing!  I just may have to stay there sometime!

SATURDAY: We stitched and in the afternoon we went to this trail…it was an off-road adventure for sure.

Inside that hole in the above pic…

Some deep breaths…some meditation…and some mind-clearing for what lies ahead…I know I will visit this place, again and again, this next year…I will just close my eyes and I will be there.  This is priceless.

Simple is best!

After our hike we stitched into the night while watching Bridgerton on Netflix.

SUNDAY- Another day of stitching while watching my Green Bay Packers lose the NFC playoff game…But the best team won that day…we beat ourselves.  We finished up watching the last couple of episodes of Brigerton.  I completed almost all of my projects I  took along for the trip.  I can’t wait for you to see or receive them!

MONDAY-We packed up and headed back to Las Vegas where I jumped on a plane and now I am in Minneapolis waiting to catch my last flight home….

I also want to acknowlege we had much to celebrate during this weekend…I’m so proud of you Val…two new knee surgeries and 35lbs gone.   I so happy that you are my friend….

Thanks for hanging out with me here,  I know it’s mostly rocks…but it was amazing in person…if you want to see more of my trip I did post a video of Zion in my Facebook group Stitch With Lisa Bongean.

Have a great week….Look for more videos, quilts and wool projects coming soon!

Take care of yourselves. Lisa

travel adventures- part 1-revised

Hey Everyone…just stopping in to write about my travels…I just decided it was time to get back to normal for me.  I know it’s not the time for everyone, but it is for me.  I started with going to Atlanta to the world market to look for furniture for our new build (check out the progress here) and for new home dec for our store for fall and Christmas …as it will be that time just when we are moving in!  This table and stools will be our conference table..Also thought you might want to see that companies are still decorating with antique quilts…

There was so much to choose from…three skyscrapers full of shop owners to buy for their stores.

I really loved these jingle bells!

I did manage to stitch one thing in Atlanta…This will be a pillow in my book in April, Farmhouse Urban Patchwork Gatherings.Lisa Bongean After Atlanta…it was off to see the California store…after 1 year of not coming to CA…it was time.  Dru picked me up from the airport, and we went straight to my favorite eating place.  The Goat & Vine…(I think we ate there a total of 3x out of the 5 days I was there.  Then I went to Big Bear Lake on Saturday and Sunday with my friend Roxanne.  We hiked and sewed…I make 960 HSTs.   This is the ski hill from our hiking trail.

We might have shopped and eaten a little too!  We are in the famous breakfast place in town?  Anybody know where?

Then back to the CA store to do two Social virtual sewing zoom gatherings with a combined total of 50 customers.  It was so fun to see everyone, stitch, talk about what was going on, and even saw some sewing rooms!  Thank you to all who joined it…it was a fun day, and I hope to do it again soon!

Next up was a flight to Vegas…yes, I know I thought we were going to drive, but the flight was too reasonable, and then I didn’t put anyone out too much by driving all day.  Val picked me up at the airport, and we started on our way to St. George, UT, but we had a side stop at…Sherrie McConnell’s house!!!  Sherrie is my Moda sister.  I miss all my Moda sisters, and it was fun to see one of them, at least!  Val machine quilts for Sherrie too!

Sherri showing us her sewing room!

All the quilts….in the vault.  Follow Sherri (A Quilting Life)  on Youtube, where she has a podcast with her beautiful daughter Chelsi and lots of videos on quilting!

And here we are in her podcast studio… It is part of the spare bedroom…who knew????

We set the timer for the photo. We got nicer ones…but I like this one!

Sherri made us a delicious lunch of potato soup and chicken salad croissants and then sent us back on the trail..to St. George…I’ll post more on St. George…in part 2.

Happy Saturday…Hiking again today!

Primitive Christmas Event is HERE!

Jessica has written this post for you detailing all the goodies we have for you!  I hope you love ALL the projects we have made for you.  The following photos are all free patterns with a $40 purchase, a total of 5!  Kits are available and some will sell out…but PLEASE read all the info so you know what is all going on!  I hope you have a Blessed Holiday Season…enjoy everyday of it…Lisa

It is such a bummer that this year we must have our Primitive Christmas Event only onlinePrimitive Christmas Event Click HERE

this year. This is the Event that we all look forward to the most at the Shop! We love seeing each and everyone of you come out and “oohhh and ahh” over everything that we have done to make this event a success.  It almost feels bah-humbug that we do not get to see you all, have our make and takes and of course have those COOKIES!  (I, jessica, personally live off those for like 3 days straight! Lol.)

Despite all the changes that we have had to make for this Event, I think this is going to be one of our BEST yet!  We literally have dozens of designs from Lisa to share with you all.  Some of these products a few of you might recognize from our being in our exclusive Wool Subscription Boxes.  We are releasing about a dozen of those patterns and kits to everyone for the first time. (Openings for the Wool Box starting in January will be up the first of December) We also will have just about a dozen NEW designs from Lisa that none of you have ever seen….unless you have been following her on our Stitch With Lisa Bongean Facebook Page, where she has given you a sneak peak at some of the designs.  And I think you can agree with me that they are bound to put the Holiday Spirit into you!

Lets get down to business!  PLEASE READ CAREFULLY AS SOME THINGS HAVE CHANGED!!

This is IMPORTANT:  If you are planning on coming to our Wisconsin Shop for the Event….YOU CAN’T! WE ARE CLOSED UNTIL DECEMBER 2!  This Event is All Virtual this year, our Shop is small and we can not social distance properly, therefor we have chosen to keep you and our employees safe by doing our event virtual.  If you are local and place an order with us and would like to pick up your order when we reopen, please put that in the comment section and we will call you when your order is ready to be picked up.

Where Will you find Everything?

You will find all the projects and goodies on our site under New Items and then there will be a little icon that says Primitive Christmas Event, click on that and you will be whisked away to Santa’s Primitive Gatherings Workshop!

How do I get the freebies this year?

Here is where somethings change from previous years.  This year when you spend $40 or more you will receive a collection of freebie patterns, a kit for our pincushion New Beginnings and a coupon book for the coming years sales exclusive to YOU.  (excludes BOMs, Pre-orders,  American Gatherings) This year we are doing downloadable patterns for all of our freebies and coupon book, by doing so you will receive 1 MORE FREE Pattern as a “Thank You” for not having to print all of the papers that normally went into your package, you do not need to do anything they will automatically come to you. You will receive the Downloads as soon as we process your order….you will receive a message from us on how to find your downloads. Now if you still would like a hard copy of the freebies and coupon book you will need to put that in your cart so that we know to send those to you. You will find the hard copy under the Primitive Christmas Icon…it is called 2020 Primitive Christmas Event Hardcopy of Free Patterns (primitivegatherings.us).  Just a REMINDER though, you will receive 1 LESS free pattern.

What are the Free kit and Patterns this year?

You will receive one Free pattern and kit for the deer pincushion called New Beginnings. Your free kit will be selected at random, and will automatically be put into your package when it is sent, meaning you DO NOT have to put it into your cart to receive it.  If you are purchasing for a friend and would like for them to be able to make it, we also have patterns available for you to purchase. ONCE AGAIN, you do not have to purchase or put the pattern in your cart if it is only for you; it will automatically go into your package.

Donner is our super cute reindeer leading our Primitive Christmas Event this year. Donners antlers are too big for the project and go right off the project! He is 7.5″ x 12.5″ when finished, we have 2 different ways to finish him. Scottie has made a white wash board that you can hang on the wall or one that you can have him sit on a table with our white wash stand. Both you will be able to find in his product information.

Happy Holiday Pillow has the classic Christmas look with a blue-grey background and a white and taupe wool applique and stitching. I could also see the Happy Holiday pillow as a framed piece as well!

Merry and Bright Christmas Quilt is 60″x70″ and uses a wide variety of Christmas fabric that we have available at the Shop. We used 2 1/2″ triangle papers to create all of the half square triangles in this quilt.

If you choose to download the patterns this year and NOT get a hard copy you will also be receiving the pattern for We Three Gnomes!!! If you do not want to download and want a Hard Copy from us, this pattern is available to purchase.

We also have so many other projects on the site that you are going to love. I just wanted to give you all an overview on how the program is working this year.

Please let us know by email if you have any questions, we would be happy to help you any way we can!

Thank you, Jessica and the Primitive Gatherings Staff

Happy Block Heads Wednesday!

Here is another great Quilt Block FOR OUR QUILT ALONG PROJECT:  BlOOMING LOVE BLOCK

Moda Block Heads 3 Quilt Along Project Block 11: Blooming Love Quilt Block featured by top US quilting blogger, Lisa Bongean

My 4″ Blooming Love quilt block was made with   Urban Farmhouse Gatherings.

I LOVE how my block turned out…I did kind of plan the pinwheel in the middle so your eyes had something to focus on…Thanks Robin for such a fun beautiful block!

BUT… I do have to admit when I made this quilt along project block I did not see the “heart” in it… and that is why I made the pinwheel. It looked like the whole block was scrappy.  I guess I should look at it in color instead of black & white.   Now that I see Robin’s block it makes perfect sense!  Oh, well…. that’s the way it goes!!! Spring Wool Projects

Spring Bunny Pillows

I have a couple of wool projects that I want to get out to you before the season is over.  These simple bunny pillows only take a couple of hours to stitch, so you will be able to have them done before Easter!  They would also make the perfect gift for a neighbor or the person who is hosting Easter dinner.  The are wool appliqued onto flannel.  The bunnies are then hand stitched with perle cotton.

The first pillow is Buster the Bunny... is sitting pretty…he is shown a little dark in this photo, he looks much better in person and he was the favorite of the staff….

Click HERE–Like Mother, Like Daughter Pillow

You do remember this right?...Like Father, Like Son Pillow.  We can’t leave the girls out! So I used these cute bunnies for the “girl” version of Like Father, Like Son, called Like Mother, Like Daughter  You could also add a little bow on the little girl bunny, I did not however…no clothes on animals for me….This pillow finishes at 16″.

All the threads have been listed in the related products as well as pillow forms.  We have nice priced on our pillows and I know this because while I was in CA with Dru we had to stop at one of the big box craft stores to get one and they were outrageous, 23 dollars or something…I suppose because of their coupon…I can tell you ours are cheaper even after you would use a coupon..

Visit my Hidden Zipper Tutorial HERE

If you use a zipper in your pillow back you can stop buy pillows or stuffing.  You can just change the pillow cover!

I hope all is well with everyone one of you…and none of you have the COVOID-19.

Keep stitching AWAY everyone…I know we did not wish for this virus…but we kind of all wished we could be locked in our sewing rooms for a long time…and now…it’s time to do our thing!  It’s fun to see everyone making masks…I think they are great for our own personal protection.  I may have to stitch a few up.  They may be the new fashion rage this year.  Later on I am going to ask everyone to post a pic with their mask on.  I know I am trying to make lite about it all and have a good attitude but It is scary…health wise this takes a toll on our mental health…worrying about our family, finances and…hoping it does not last long and we and our country can recover quickly.

stay safe…all for now…LB
