Triangle Gatherings…52 & 53

I hope you all have had a nice weekend…yes… I know they are too short….always…so here are a few TG blocks.  We currently are a little behind and I plan on catching up this week…so keep that in mind…schedule in some extra stitching time.  Taking vacations get you behind and I very much dislike catching up.   I feel very rushed and behind on ALL of my projects..except Moda Blockheads because I mistakenly made the wrong block one week and it so nicely is this weeks block, perfect timing to that!!!

I swear I have made TG block 52 -six times already!!! But every time I look to find a duplicate we have not made it before…so I did not take the time to “look” this time…I’m trusting Teri the graphic designer that this is not a duplicate..Click Here to print Block 52Click Here to print Block 53

We had “little man” this weekend…no stitching but lots of fun!  Here’s a few pics from the camera roll…

Found a little tikes picnic table on FB…cleaned it up and he had to have a picnic to test it!!!

Look MiMi “no hands”!!!… ok…lil dare devil…

We also went swimming and jet skiing…he literaly ran us ragged!  This is a rare shot of him sitting still!!

Have a great week…lots to get done before I leave for Hershey on Wednesday!!!  I will be teaching 4 classes…and the crew has had some trouble with the trailer yesterday in Chicago.  They had to stop and wait to get it fixed when something is open today…so I’m a little nervous about that…

my best…LB

staycation is almost over…

I have to admit…it was pretty hard not working…I had to even walkout of my room a couple of times because I promised myself and my family I would not work for a week…I might have woken up a little early some days and just visited my room…watched a little Netflix and stitched something that was not a work project…but during the day…it was real easy to ignore it…I had a blast!

We had people over, I got to spend time on the lake…kayaking, jet skiing, boating and swimming…we had an emergency room visit…”little man” received 4 stitches in his right eye last Saturday…and Nick and I went for a long 212 mile motorcycle ride, and we planted more things in the garden…what a great 10days…

Thanks to all who came out to spend time with us this week…it was awesome!!

motorcycle selfie…

You had to take a pic with the pink hog…

Late in the day…the sun is in the west…

Jeter enjoying the comfy chair at the party on the 4th…he’s showing us all how to relax and enjoy the party…

The water trampoline that never made it in the water…Jace and Aylee

I know one should never post a pic of of yourself in a bathing suit but…it’s really about “little man” and how much fun we had…and someday I will want this photo….

Papa…playing in the water too- being the “motor”boat!!!

broken bird bath…so why not plant some succulents in it and cover the manhole cover!!!

view from my kayak…real peaceful on the lake in the morning…

Mimi…washed all Daddy’s and his bothers’ legos and now they are ready to play with…on his little table.

Jace loves the boat…he always wants to drive…that’s real good because someday he will be driving Papa and Mimi around…

The best cupcake decorator EVER!!! he just giggled…

Griffin…eating some red, white and blue stuff….what a little stud…

The party…lots of food

every part of our outdoor living was used…so amazing…still can’t believe how cool it is…we had a fire…made s’mores…and then Nick & Beau shot off fireworks from the dock to end the night…perfect end to a great day…

“little man” and his Momma…

found some cool spheres for my table…

hydrangeas are starting to bloom…bought the blue one for the patio…but it did not like it there…had to hide it in the front…in almost full shade…

Meet Hootie…are newest pet…his wings move up and down and he swings forward and back with the wind!

I hope you enjoyed seeing a little part of my “staycation!!!

Now I bet we all have some blocks to stitch!!!  Happy Summer…LB

Country Version of The Magic of Christmas…

“little man” said my quilt was “cute”!!!! so adorable!!!

I know some of you are still working on your Magic of Christmas blocks…don’t worry…so am I…I did not set the City version yet…BUT…I have the Country version back from Vegas Val, one of my dear friends and magical machine quilters…I know the quilting is not the star on this quilt…but…I still wanted to give you some ideas on how to quilt yours…I also washed this quilt as soon as the binding was on…I wanted the threads to sink in and hide as well as the quilting to pop!   Val does an amazing job on my quilts and I am very pleased this one is done and perfect!!!     See close-ups at end of post…

Now..I am asking for you who have finished this quilt to send me photos…We will be publishing this as a book…and I cannot do all the versions we patterned and we also love the ones who did their own versions as well…all colors and so on…We are starting on the book but It will take awhile so don’t fret..there is no set deadline as I am self publishing and we don’t have to have a strict deadline…but we won’t wait forever…if you would like us to consider your quilt for the book…please contact me at:     lisa.bongean@yahoo.com                   serious inquiries only- like… if you haven’t started your blocks yet don’t email me..lol…we can also discuss…what’s in it for you!!!

And…just an FYI I have finally removed the links for the Magic of Christmas patterns from my blog…I left them up 3 months longer than I told you I was going to…so hopefully you have them all..If someone asks you for the pattern..can you please tell them the book is coming?!!!

If you have any questions that I can answer about “the magic of christmas” or the quilting please email me or reply on this post…

Simple quilt that looks hard…on point…make a bunch of blocks using all squares, turn them on point and make it look like you pieced a lot of triangles…quilted by the a-mazing Linda Hrcka….More info on all the quilts can be found HERElisa bongeanlisa bongean

I don’t have any “in progress” pics of this quilt…cause I didn’t make it at all…Amy made it while I was away!!! I love this quilt…wish I did make it…but I will make one…maybe just regular scrappy scrappy…quilted by Val…like ribbon candy…I do not have a pic up close of the quilting…but if you see this quilt…EVERYONE loves the quilting….maybe Val has some she can send me….

Silent Night…this little quilt is 22″….again….this quilt would also be nice done normal scrappy….perfect HST’s done with PG triangle papers…and here you can see some of the prints up close…IMG_5479

Silent Night-550x550

I know I’m not supposed to tell you that I didn’t really like this runner…but see how much better it got because of the flowers..and a little instant antique spray?

IMG_6084I think I got them all…PrintHere’s the back cover….and again….I know this book is a “Christmas” book…but the quilts with a few color changes can be everyday quilts….none of my fabrics or quilts scream Christmas, and therefore can be used at other times not just for Christmas….

and same offer applies for today as well…buy a kit and book and get Primitive Christmas book free…have new book already…buy two kits get older book free…have it all…oh well we’ll still give you the book to gift or donate to a new quilter, guild…

all for now…I am so tired…really enjoying Maine…looking forward to the show this weekend and meeting my new students…LB

Did you miss the podcast? Listen whenever you want!

For those of you who may have missed the podcast you can listen at your convenience by clicking here and scroll down just a bit on Pat’s blog and you find it easily…PODCAST

Pat Sloan and I go back a long way…she is super nice person and fun to hang out with…We are both blessed to be MODA designers and if you want to listen to our chat we had today we had lots to talk about.

I am on a roll, the move stalled my stitching a bit but…I do a little unpacking each day and I’ve made lots of progress..I also had a little overnight visitor this last weekend!  Little Man loves Grandma & Papa’s  house….he explored and explored and opened every door that had a handle…IMG_6066IMG_6065IMG_6052IMG_6055IMG_6058

He loved the big window with the quilted bench pad…I made the long panels and Vegas Val quilted it and added some thoughtful touches…IMG_5552 (1)IMG_5551You can’t tell but the bench pad is 12 feet long!!! But I’m glad I took the time to do it…It adds a nice touch to the dining room….It is shown here where they converted my quilt “pieces” into the bench pad. Fockels Drapery which is conveniently located right across the street from my studio…IMG_5553I have all the book projects done…all the directions written…just waiting for a few quilts to come back from my A-mazing quilters!!! I’d be lost without Linda and Val.  Book will be printed in the middle of this month!  Thanks to all those Applique-ers who got these blocks back to me in a most timely manor…will do a post about this quilt after it comes back from Val.IMG_6032

I have started all the SBOW’s (Summer Block of the Weeks) and figured out all the particulars with Jess and I am ready to stitch away…so here is a peek here on the pieced version called Among Friends….I giving you this early peek so we can order fabric ahead because we are giving you a choice of red, black, dark navy(this is what I picked)  medium navy and brown…!!! This quilt will have 1056 fabric in it!!!! How awesome is that! Click here to sign up and reserve your color choice…AMONG FRIENDSlisa bongean

Did you know it is Spring Market time in the quilt world!  I have a new line being offered at Market…I don’t know if I can talk about it yet…but I have 2 quilts designed and I just finished the directions today and we are starting to cut and stitch this week! I also am thinking about doing a simple folky BOM with it…will show you this soon also…as soon as I get the “ok” to let the cat out of the bag…

We also snuck in finishing 3 new quilts from The Farmer’s Son- Wool & Needle Flannel line coming in May..I cut out all the quilts, and only pieced on, Farmer’s Market, IMG_6031but Amy, aka the pressing Queen, got to stitch the other two while I was on the road teaching…I’m bummed because Crop Circles was super easy,IMG_6013 … I love stitching super easy…then Heritage star is just an amazing quilt and very traditional but very current at the same time.IMG_6100  We will be getting these on the website soon…all these pics are “in progress” so will post again with finished quilted quilts!!!

Will be back soon with more quilts and more house!!! I’ll leave you with Big Papa and little man…playing in jammies!!!IMG_6070

weekend at anchor point…

Well I’ve been home a whole week…still moving “stuff” from the old house to the new…little by little…we are living at Anchor Point…but we still have about 40% of our stuff to move out of the old house…I spent some time sewing in my new studio…I am “functional”, but not “pretty” yet…I want to live in the space before I decide to decorate it…My space is amazing…I have everything from the old home studio plus what I had at the lakehouse, so 2 sewing stations, 2 pressing stations…3 cutting tables and a sitting area…plus a bunch of built in storage…I do not have a fabric vault..but you can’t have it all!  Why does one need all of this?…I plan on working at home Mondays and Fridays and Amy my assistant may be with me some of that time. I plan on going into the work studio tues-thursdays working 12 hour days…so thats the plan…wonder if it will work?

This made be laugh so I thought I would share…Jeter (who is my dog, he was really supposed to be Nick’s but they really choose us) who spends time with me when I stitch…was checking out all the “new” spots in his new studio…IMG_5952IMG_5949IMG_5947

So far I have nothing in any of these cabinets….hmmm I know I have lots of things to put in them…but what should I really put in there???  I promise to show real pics again when it’s decorated.

I am stitching on a quilt from my fabric line…The Farmer’s Son..Wool & Needle Flannels IV.  Does this ever happen to you? IMG_5941 It happens because I layer 4-5 fabrics when cutting…but here is my solution…I may not even need this one as I always have extras but just in case…IMG_5942IMG_5943I have a wonderful selection of permanent Sharpies…IMG_5944I use them when needed…I sometimes have to “fix” things…so I’m prepared…Now you know we will only see a little bit of this right?  Have you ever done this?

Well really there is a lot going on here in my world.  I have the pieced SBOW figured out..we are also doing an EPP(English Paper pieced SBOW too, and I think I might have settled on the wool appliqué one……just thought I would touch base and let you know I’m working hard and will be sharing soon!

I also got to hang out with “little man” today…he was so much fun…he’s gonna be a little dare-devil…IMG_5963gee I don’t know where any of that comes from!!! IMG_5961Happy Sunday!!!

PS…If you have read this to the end…It’s National Quilting Day…Leave me a comment at the end of this post on what you are stitching on and I will pick some winners!  I will pick tomorrow night when I’m in my hotel room in MI for a workshop and guild meeting on Tuesday and Wednesday…they will be mystery packages!  So fun!

12 Days of Needful Things…Day 11!

12 Days of Xmas Ornaments 11

Wow…there were lots of comments yesterday!!! I was decorating the house and my phone was constant little jingle every time someone posted a comment…so I’m glad there are so many of you reading the blog!!!

Couple of things…The cookie recipe is very moist…place the finished dough in a couple of big hunks and wrap in plastic wrap and chill..when your ready to roll them out…flour the surface, flour the pin, flour your hands and roll into a big ball to roll out…this is working more flour into the dough …it not a normal dough to start…that is why I think they are so good…

We also noticed the site was not letting you order the mats sometimes…saying it was no longer available or sold out…this is NOT the case…you can order up until Dec 31 on ALL items. So if you wanted to order the mats and couldn’t here is the link again OLFA MAT

Please read the whole post…some of you will ask questions and the answer is in the post!  So if we do not answer you..read the post.  I know we all only like to look at the pictures and all this text is…blah blah blah…I’ll make sure to have lots of pictures!!!

Also your comment may not show up right away…I have to approve some of them from time to time…I don’t know why this is…it might be a spam control thing..but I check my computer several times a day, unless I’m on some kind of mission.

I will post the Ginger Cookie recipe again…

Remember the HOLD option on every order if you want to accumulate and help us order  ahead if we need to by the time this ends and we have to ship them to you.

Day 11….MAGNETIC PINBOWLS!

Do you know what a pinbowl is? It’s a 4″ metal bowl with a huge magnet on the bottom of it!!! Of coarse we can make them in many…many colors!!! Now I use them for my pins obviously…and they work awesome with our binding clips as well, and even a bobbin holder if you want an assortment of them!  These are also the perfect gift for your quilting friends birthdays and whatever you need a gift for..this bowl and a set of shiny new fine pins or the cool multicolored binding clips are perfect!IMG_5684[1]IMG_5678[1] (1)IMG_5681[1] (1)

My son, Jake is making them at the warehouse when he has any spare moments…IMG_3973 copyHe made 40 of them for the girls at the Home for the Holidays retreat in CA about a week ago and they all loved them!!! We also sold a bunch of them at both stores during the Primitive Christmas event…I know we didn’t tell anyone online because we weren’t organized before Primitive Christmas so we decided to save it for this promotion!!!  IMG_3974 copyNow I know you see a couple more colors here in this picture of Jake’s work station, but we have to limit to the 10 colors for now and we can add more later…Jake sands, primes and paints each bowl…he then adds the dots…so each pinbowl is handcrafted by hand just for our wonderful quilters!!!  I have them everywhere…but please note: If you have a computerized machine…please keep it a safe distance away from the machine…I think you could possibly mess up your computer if they are kept by the machine…Don’t keep it there…there are plenty of other places where the pin bowls can live…by the ironing board, by the cutting table when your pinning big borders…and so on..I don’t have to worry as my JUKI is not computerized…but better to be safe than sorry…I don’t want you to mess up those expensive machines…

Now the price is $15 for one…$25 if you order 2 and $12.50 for any more thereafter…now the price will be not be right in your cart if you order more than one…but we will change it manually when we process to $12.50 per bowl, no worries…because you may want three different colors it will not compute 3 for $37.50…so bear with this please.  Order your PINBOWLS here!

Jake is Jace’s (“little man”) Daddy…I love it when I get to watch Jace when Mommy has to help out where she used to work…Friday “little man” hung out all day with us at the studio…See how he was helpIMG_4612ing with the quilt we were building?  Then some of Jace’s Christmas present came while he was there so we thought we should make sure he liked them before we gave them to him…He loved his new Teepee! IMG_4610I will  not show you any more as I might have to save some to share later…

I know the days will fly by now that is is 12 days of needful things…this always makes the time fly!!! Time to cut out a new quilt!!! LB
