Happy Valentine’s Day….

My hope for you this Valentine’s Day… is LOVE…whatever form that it may come in…

I like to celebrate LOVE all month…not just one day…with my fisherman, with my grandbabies, with my staff…my girlfriends….my sewing group, on and on.

As promised on my LIVE yesterday… I have written that recipe for the cookies…Here it is…Dipped Cherry Cookies   just click the link and you may print it or download it to your files.  I had some leftover white chocolate from Christmas so it was the perfect recipe, not too many ingredients and I just had to add/ change a few things…after you have made as many cookies as I have you just know what to do…

I had an eager helper….and this recipe does did not disappoint!  Miss Evie only gave it a 5, but I think that had more to do with that “loose” tooth!  See video…

If you did not catch our LIVE yesterday you can watch it HERE.  I had some lovely helpers and we had a fun as usual and we thank everyone who was live with us as well…Please subscribe to our YOUTUBE channel as long as you are there!

Also, this is a reminder to place your order if you would like our FREE pattern and our special sweet treat for a $25 order that is/was placed yesterday or today…sorry the treats are not the cookies shown above…. a bummer…I know.

Our FREE pattern is a re-do of AN old one of mine….here is one block stitched.  Do not let those words intimidate you…we have a video for that as well.  Lisa Bongean/Be Mine We are offering two versions….grey/red and red/pink/cream both quilts will be awesome…I can’t wait to have mine done for next V-day!

I had a beautiful day today…we were invited to Disney on Ice in a  box suite.  Thank You Brandon!   The boys all loved it! We all loved the firebreathing dragon the best!

Also I thought I would share a little of the decorating at Ancor Point!  In less than an hour I can have a whole new color scheme up and ready for all to enjoy!  I hope you get some ideas for your own quilt decorating!Lisa Bongean's HomeThere is a lot of napping that goes on here…Lisa Bongean's HomeBucky…the best dog ever.Lisa Bongean's HomeLittle antique crib quiltsLisa Bongean's Home Lisa Bongean's HomeBig antique quilts on our three arm quilt hangers.Lisa Bongean's HomeI love this quilt…simple and easy…true lover’s knot?  I’m guessing here.Lisa Bongean's Homestar quilts are alway a favorite.Lisa Bongean's HomeOur 101Itty bitty stitch along will start in April!  Be ready…book, stand…wools…all can be ordred HERE

Long Arm Quilting now at Primitive Gatherings…

We all need to get our quilts quilted.  Then they can be loved like this one is.  How happy does this little guy look, snuggled in his MiMi’s quilt…

I am super proud of all of my sons and when they want to be a part of you business and then find their niche, it’ a feeling of contentment,  and that all will be “ok”.

I can not  personally tell you why you should send Primitive Gatherings your quilts to be long- arm quilted, but if you take 10 minutes watch to watch this video, you will understand why I did not want to tell you.

Luke, Jake & Tyler (Jake’s childhood friend) let you know about themselves and about their quilting.

Click on this video below…

Most of you know these guys, they have worked the quilt show circuit for years, they’ve attended quilt markets, they’ve worked in the shop.  Hopefully, now they can help you get your quilt tops quilted!  They also will be selling long-arms and teaching classes on how to use them…They know all about them…They can set them up and take them down and make them do amazing stitching!this is another reason why I can’t wait to be in our new building…here’s some progress…Can you figure out what is what?   LB

12 Days of Needful Things…Day 5

DAY 5 NEEDFUL THINGS–    Endurance Blades: 20%

I really did not notice until I really thought about it…but  I have had this blade in this cutter since  I  got the new navy cutter…well over a year for sure.  So I put this blade on my list for our NEEDFUL THINGS.   I am only buying/using them from now on.  I used to change my blades at least once a month…it could have been done more often than that but I am very frugal…and I do not want to mess up my cutting mats.   The worst thing you can do to your mat is cut on it  with a dull blade.

I am going to be a snob here for just a little moment….I only use Olfa blades/cutters and really like there mats…but I have occasionally used different mats.  But not the cutter…this brand is amazing, I don’t care what cutter…there are many…but these are the most comfortable and the “LV” of rotary cutters…that was “Louie Vuitton” just in case you were not going to get my joke.

So where are offering discounts on everything else as well…

All Regular  & Endurance Rotary Blades: 20%

Rotary Cutters: Yellow Handles only

Creative Grid Itty Bitty Rulers by Primitive Gatherings plus a few more….
We also can’t offer blades and cutters and not rulers.  I LOVE my rulers.  I wish they came in more sizes but this is what we have for now…They do work for all of my cutting needs so I am happy.

Rulers from Lisa Bongean/Primitive GatheringsWhat I mean by MY rulers is…these are MY rulers.   I designed them…they are still Creative Grid rulers but they have some differences from the normal CG rulers…they have not one solid line…everything is dashed.  They have 1/8, 3/8, 5/8, and 7/8″ markings on them…  Last, they do not have 1/2″ added to them…my ruler is  8″x 24″.  Not  8 1/2″ x 24 1/2″  This has screwed me up more times than I would like to admit…

My rulers come in 3 rectangles.  3×7, 5×15, super nice for cuttting 5″ squares and 8×24 all measurements are in inches.  I also have two squares…6 and 15 inches.
Creative Grids does not allow us to put their rulers on sale ever.   But we are going to give away a FQ bonus for every $12 you spend on a creative grid ruler, so if you spend $48 dollars on two rulers you get 4 FQs.  We also have added a few more rulers just in case you have all 5 of my ruler or maybe you need double of some!!!

Today you have two chances to win….because I forgot to add a giveaway to yesterday’s post.
Let’s do something easy….The first comment, Did you make any of your gifts this year?…. Second comment for today’s post. …Do you consider yourself a beginner, intermediate or advanced quilter? and why?  Put them both in one comment and we will pick several winners to win a bunch of stuff from this post and yesterdays.   You know I love to give things away!!!

Thanks for taking the time out to read and participate in our 12 Needful Things!!!

Take time to enjoy all the things…Lisa

Jace helped organize all my pins, and clips, and other stuff that gets all messed up…he was so proud to work for MiMi.Teaching Grandkids organization

…and then it was time for stitching.  A couple of weeks ago he asked if he could stitch…I said yes. Then did nothing about it…then he asked again and again…so I knew he was really interested.  I asked him what he wanted to stitch…A dragon was his answer…so I found a dragon and we started stitching.  I don’t make him…I do not correct him unless he asks me…I do help thread the needles!!!  We are working on holding onto it by the eye…he stitches for about 15-20 min. then he’s onto something else.  I am wondering how long our sessions will go.  It’s funny because his Mother is left-handed, so he sometimes stitches left and sometimes right…but he is good with both!  Also, a lot of the comments about your quilt shop in Jess’s post was about teaching kids…So I agree.

Jenni & Lisa brought these cupcakes from isk’n it click to visit her facebook

I try and come up with some fun things to do besides all the eating and drinking…we painted, played cornhole/bags, fished, played cards, campfired and did lots of dishes…23 people is a lot for a whole weekend…but we all managed and it was a ton of fun!

There was a birdhouse for each family…and I asked them to paint a fish if they wanted too as well…Scott from the shop made them all for me to give-away…

Anchor Birdhouses
all lined up ready to decorate….

Even our youngest attendeee, O-bug had to paint a fish…I promise a fence/fish pic when they are installed. All finished BirdhousesWe spent the perfect weekend in the sun & water…I also made the boys get the standup jetski out of the storage unit…as you can tell from the sticker it has not been rode in a couple of years…Little man fell in love with it…She started right up and we all had a blast with it!

Bucky…the bassett/lab mix is Tyler’s dog…we love both of these guys….my 30 year old son Jake…is a freak of nature…

Well…I have not posted family fun for awhile so I thought I would share this….have a great week everyone!  See you LIVE tomorrow in Facebook…

Kick’in off the start of the season…

I had a long, great day yesterday…Kick’n off the start of the season…

As we are getting the outside of the Lake house ready for Summer, we added in a little fun too!  It doesn’t take much does it…I thoroughly enjoyed watching the kids play in between, cleaning lawn furniture, wiping down every surface, planting pots, hauling out all the seat cushions…watching Nick finish up his 32 yards of mulching…

Jake and his friend Tyler went on a kayak cruise…Tyler was also a football player if you couldn’t tell…so it was nice for Nick to see him again…and reminisce about the old days when Nick was coaching with Tyler’s Dad, Brad. (who was the head coach and is no longer with us) I can’t believe they can remember details of each play, each game and all that…it’s crazy.

This was hands down the funiest thing to watch yesterday…Little Man teaching O Bug how to play in the sprinkler…I could not pick only one photo for this…so suffer through them all for me please….Kickin off the season/LIsa Bongean Top US Quilt Blogger Kickin off the season/LIsa Bongean Top US Quilt Blogger

Wiouwash Trial 5/16/2020
Wiouwash Trail     5/16/2020

After the kids all left, we cleaned up the dishes and off I went on a evening bike ride on my favorite trail…14 miles in less than an hour…not too bad, now if I could take the time to do that everyday!!! I wonder why I feel like I don’t deserve to do this everyday…hmm maybe I can do two things everyday…

Nick was waiting for me to come home…my new plants look great….and when those daffodils and tulips are gone, hopefully those hydrangeas, petunias, and alyssum will be much bigger!  Nick’s mulch job makes my flowers look so much better!

Kickin off the season/LIsa Bongean Top US Quilt BloggerIt’s been a good weekend…and today I will spend time stitching while watching it slow rain all day…Glad I got those plants in!  Take care of yourselves…Time to stitch.

summer fun…

It’s time to post some pictures of family fun…the 4th of July week and this last weekend have been my scheduled vacation since January…I love summer…I love the heat…the summer nights especially the sunsets on Anchor Point…for those of you who are new here we named our home we build 3 years ago Anchor Point.  I have not been able to spend lots of time here so when I get 5 weeks home…I truly try to make the best of it…

I love the wild life of living on the lake…there is always something to watch…

We live near an old railroad bed that has been converted into a recreational trail…Jake and Lauren and the boys joined Jeter and I for a midmorning walk…

Baby O is 7 months old and is finally somewhat liking people other than Mama…so it was nice to spend some quality time with him as well…He is a happy baby…and his Papa loves to make him smile as much as he can.

IMG_4208

Mimi (that’s me) tried to get a photo of the two of them together…not an easy task..

IMG_4195IMG_4106IMG_4132

I try to keep Jace busy with activities…so I am alway looking for something different…these were sidewalk paints…they were different but didn’t go very far…they ran out of chalk paint way to soon…IMG_4086

We also visited out old neighbors and what had once been adult only parties has now turned into very kid friendly…Jace had a ball on their water slide, we need to up our game in that department.  Our slip & slide I bought was pretty lame….Larry & Diane had a regular playground of things to do for our combined 4 grandchildren along with a house full of food.  It was nice to see them and our old house…(shown here in the background)

IMG_4088

The kids couldn’t wait for the fireworks…but the weather did not hold up for us…we shot a few of leftover fireworks we had found from last year…and then watched them over the lake instead of being in Winneconne on the water.   I didn’t realize how close and good you could see them from the house because we are always there…but we knew we were going to see them on Saturday so it was not too disappointing…

IMG_4133IMG_4164IMG_4151IMG_8767

Lauren was all prepared for Baby O…to watch the fireworks…see next photo.

IMG_4138IMG_4149

Here are some pic of our fireworks on Saturday when Scott & Jody invited us to Royal Vista for fireworks…Nick & I took the motorcycle there for an evening ride which was a nice bonus as well.

IMG_4229

Baby O slept through them all….IMG_4238

Waiting to see the show…

IMG_4240

Little Man and his Daddy…..Jake is such a good Dad…even when Little Man is a handful…he gets tired and cranky sometimes…but Jake has lots of patience…more than Papa for sure…

IMG_4262 3IMG_3675IMG_6082IMG_0216 3

We sat on a beach with a ton of others but it was really awesome!

IMG_9832

Then it was time to get ready for our weekend for my family to come and stay…I put the finishing touches on the cleaning of our converted boathouse for my brother Brad & Tina and the boys to stay in…It was nice to see it all cleaned up instead of a storage spot for all the “stuff” we have.  I don’t remember scrubbing a floor on my hand and knees to be such a chore…but the results were worth the effort…I do not think I showed the boat house before so I included some pics here…

As you can see Jace welcomed her right into the family with an octopus tentacle hug!

IMG_4465I had a great time…it went very well…my only regret??? I missed some photos ..I missed a group shot…but everyone was not here for all of it or at the same time…I missed a photo of the 5 dogs that were here…keeping Nick on his toes..one dog, Romey..had to go stay the weekend with Amy..as he, the littlest one…does not always like lots of dog company.  We had 16 people guests total…and a lot of fun!

Thanks for a great time for those who came…I guess there is no reason not to do it again next year!

As for my quilting friends…this is a look into why I work so hard…so I can enjoy what we have with my family and friends…hope you loved seeing more of Baby O…all for now…

I need to get back to my work!  The summer weeks fly by so fast!  Lisa
