Country Version of The Magic of Christmas…

“little man” said my quilt was “cute”!!!! so adorable!!!

I know some of you are still working on your Magic of Christmas blocks…don’t worry…so am I…I did not set the City version yet…BUT…I have the Country version back from Vegas Val, one of my dear friends and magical machine quilters…I know the quilting is not the star on this quilt…but…I still wanted to give you some ideas on how to quilt yours…I also washed this quilt as soon as the binding was on…I wanted the threads to sink in and hide as well as the quilting to pop!   Val does an amazing job on my quilts and I am very pleased this one is done and perfect!!!     See close-ups at end of post…

Now..I am asking for you who have finished this quilt to send me photos…We will be publishing this as a book…and I cannot do all the versions we patterned and we also love the ones who did their own versions as well…all colors and so on…We are starting on the book but It will take awhile so don’t fret..there is no set deadline as I am self publishing and we don’t have to have a strict deadline…but we won’t wait forever…if you would like us to consider your quilt for the book…please contact me at:     lisa.bongean@yahoo.com                   serious inquiries only- like… if you haven’t started your blocks yet don’t email me..lol…we can also discuss…what’s in it for you!!!

And…just an FYI I have finally removed the links for the Magic of Christmas patterns from my blog…I left them up 3 months longer than I told you I was going to…so hopefully you have them all..If someone asks you for the pattern..can you please tell them the book is coming?!!!

If you have any questions that I can answer about “the magic of christmas” or the quilting please email me or reply on this post…

Magic of Christmas…Blocks 14,15,16 & 17

PLEASE READ THIS POST BEFORE YOU PRINT OUT THE BLOCKS…THERE IS A CORRECTION TO ONE OF THEM…

I hope you all are doing well…I’m home…feeling good…got my mail sorted, laundry washed and dried…took a 2 hour nap with Jeter in the afternoon sun coming through the bedroom window…I promise 4 blocks today so here they are…

BLOCK 14img_8678

If you want to make the 8 1″ HST using the papers you will need to cut 4 squares of paper…measure and cut your red/white the size of the paper…then only cut 2 – 1 7/8″ squares in half instead of 6.

I have shown the 3/4″ triangle paper you need for this block…cut you red/white fabrics to the size of the paper…You will still need to cut 8 -1 5/8″ squares, cut in half once…for the FG units.

I hope this keeps you busy for a little bit…the MOC blocks will be coming fast and furious now…and THANKS again for being patient knowing I am working and not able to release these blocks in a normal pattern….

I so enjoyed the last post with Sylvia…thanks for giving her some words of encouragement…These blocks need to be starched wet/air dried, need to be cut right, 1/4″ seam needs to be right..you need to understand where the 1/4″ points of the triangles overhang…and then pressing seams, some open, so there are a whole lot of things that have to be in harmony for the blocks to come out good…I don’t say perfect because I’ve been known to let a few things slide if they are not detrimental to the outcome…

Tomorrow is “little man” day…I miss him so much!!!

Enjoy your 4 blocks!!!

Block 12 & 13 Magic of Christmas…

Good Evening Everyone…

Just want you all to know we all just finished a H-E double toothpick of- week!  That’s I why I have not posted any new MOC blocks…now remember… I told you early on there were going to be gaps and times when they come day after day and then not so much…but rest assured…we will get them all done by the end of November!!!

I did not mention this but I am going to now…sooooo I have to go to CA after Houston to teach a bunch of wonderful ladies coming all the way from New Zeeland…they are coming to our CA shop and we are so excited to have them!!! But that means I will be gone for over two weeks, coming home NOV 11…then what happens in November?  Right our biggest event!!!! Primitive Christmas…when you get patterns and pincushion kits and those cute mugs!!! So my point here is I have designed/stitched all(4 this year)the projects for this AND about 5 extra ones…that I am saving for this event!!! So really it was fun, but at the same time…very brutal….this was A LOT to do plus all the new designs from Liberty Gatherings my newest Moda line that will come out in FEB/2017 ….I will be posting about these soon too…now that they are all back from the quilters and much prettier now… and will be hanging in Houston for all the shop owners to see and buy for their shops…so…to keep you busy for the next week…while the graphic designer is gone to Mexico this whole next week..(thanks Teri for working late today…I know you wanted to be gone by three….we appreciate all you do for us!!! Make sure you have a margarita and enjoy the sun!!!)  But she managed to sneak these two blocks in today! I’ve double-triple, checked them for printing errors and can’t find any…so fingers crossed there are none…

Two easy ones…this time…LB

The magic of Christmas…Stitch Along Block 1

Ahh…theres nothing like a red and white quilt…img_5445After seeing this photograph taken of my guest bedroom from the American Patchwork & Quilting photoshoot, I want to make my own red/white sampler quilt.  To make sure I really do it I decided to do it as a Stitch Along…I am calling it “The Magic of Christmas”…and I want to do it two ways…City and Country versions….or Modern and Primitive  or Traditional and Vintage….all of these names would all work…but we are going with City and Country versions.

What I know for sure about the SAL (Stitch Along)…25 blocks..6” blocks…before Christmas…instead of doing them the 25 days to Christmas Dec.1 -25…. I decided to spread it out a bit so we ALL can get it done by Christmas!!!

The patterns will be a Free downloadable until Christmas here on my blog.

If you appreciate our time and effort of maintaining this SAL you can reward us by purchasing your fabrics from us. Here are our offerings for fabric kits.  City version, bella solids…you can order the 3 yds of red and 3 yds of white as a special price kit for only $35 for both fabrics  OR  you can order them separately for $21 with no discount.  Order HereCity/Lisa Bongean

Country version…will be 12 FQs of reds and one 3yd light tan country background as shown here in the block. Country/LisaBongean The kit will be $55 for the kit…You can also order just the red FQs for $33 and the tan background for $33.  There is also a discounted backing option too.  Order Here

I am not totally sure about the setting yet…but for what I do have in mind there may be a possibility we can get the whole quilt out of these fabrics… you never know….but I promise to try and get it out of the fabrics here…I love a challenge.

We have some of this fabric in our warehouse…however, we do not know if we are going to have 5 or 500 people sign up…kits are first come until we run out…the city version we will not run out of…we can reorder that…but the country version will be limited if you want these exact fabrics.   I will NOT send out a 2nd block until all of the kits have been shipped…the block took me less than an hour from starch to finish…ha..did you get that?  So you will not be several blocks behind if you order our kits…we will not get another block for almost 2 weeks.

I have to get 24 blocks in in less than 15 weeks so some weeks there will be 2 or 3 who knows…my postings will be random…like my life…It will be fun and we can also have that red/white quilt of our own just like my cupboard of antique red/white…. This quilt cupboard photo was used with permission form American Patchwork & Quilting. If you want to see more photos from the photo shoot not in the magazine click HERE…like this closeup of the quilt on the bed…img_5446-1

Again Thank You for following me on this blog and I hope you join us for the SAL!!! We appreciate your continued support!!!

Click HERE for a printable PDF of block 1 of “The Magic of Christmas”.  We will probably make this into a pattern so be sure to print them right away as they will not be on the blog forever!!!  If you have trouble printing the PDF. I have tested it and it is working…So please update or find a young person to help you figure out why you cannot print the PDF.  Here is a picture of the pattern, in case you are having difficulty, but will to do this for all the blocks…

For those of you who love to go above and beyond…maybe we can publish a few different finishing options for these blocks, and publish your quilts along with ours.  So lets see what develops here! I’m also thinking we should do some giveaway at Christmas time ,for those of you who finish their quilt tops can enter into…so it doesn’t have to be quilted, yet.
