Home again…

Well I have been home almost a week now and I think I might be getting all of my stuff together…I bought a little mini computer to travel with me to the shows and I left the cord in Chicago…they just called me today to tell me it arrived in Metropolis today…so hopefully they will be sending it home soon..so I didn’t get to blog while I was gone, but I have to admit after how busy we were in Chicago and then the 12 hour days at the Mall in Paducah…til 9pm…I really don’t think there would have been much…so my house is picked up, my bills are up to date and now I can sew…here is what I did last night…the Civil War Tribute Blocks- I know this is month 3 I will get 4 done by this weekend and be current…I saw this quilt in someone’s booth at Chicago…so I must get working on it…I also have a deadline for teaching projects that need to be completed…did you see me working on this in Chicago or Paducah?  I will be teaching this Christmas Mat in July at Primitives of the Midwest….look for quiltersstation.com for info if you want to take some great classes from primitive/folk art teachers…I am leaving this pic big so you can see what is going on….Here is another thing I will be teaching at Road to California January 2011 and the Georgia Quilt Show in Duluth GA  Original Sewing and Quilting Expo…in October 2010.  This is a cute little basket of tulips…It will make a wonderful 3 hour class.  Check your calendars and come take a workshop and learn more about wool applique….On Thursday morning Nick let me out of the booth to go see the “Pavillion” I have to say it didn’t look too bad…  Maybe we will be there next year?  While out of the booth I made a quilt purchase…from the Cotton Shop in Muscatine IA…Look at my kit.  Hopefully I will get to put it together sometime soon...sometimes a girl just has to buy a kit even though she has every fabric in it in her stash…well time to get back to work…LB

Prairie Rose Table Rug Tongue Template-Summer Gatherings

Prairie Rose Table Rug Tongue CLICK AND PRINT

HERE IS THE CLEANED UP COPY OF THE MISSING PART.  IT IS MY LUCKY DAY-THEY HAVE 5000 BOOKS LEFT TO PUT TOGETHER SO THIS WILL BE STAPLED IN THE CENTER.  SO THAT JUST LEAVES US 5000 TO INSERT IN.  WE ONLY HAVE SOLD ABOUT 200 BOOKS.  SO IF YOU ARE ONE OF THE EARLY BIRDS…JUST PRINT THIS AND INSERT IT IN YOUR BOOK OR COME INTO THE SHOP AND WE WILL HAVE THEM PRINTED THERE IF YOU DON’T WANT TO PRINT IT YOURSELF.

HERE IS OUR SCANT 1/4″ SEAM GUIDE/RULER TO GIVE AWAY WITH $100 PURCHASE..WE WILL HAVE THEM IN CHICAGO AND PADUCAH….SEE THE LITTLE HOLE ABOVE THE  “e” INSERT YOUR NEEDLE HERE AND PLACE YOUR TAPE OR MOLESKIN-(I USE A MAGNETIC SEAM GUIDE-BECAUSE I DO NOT SEW ON A COMPUTERIZED MACHINE SO THE MAGNET IS NOT PROBLEM.) THIS WILL GIVE YOU A PERFECT SCANT 1/4″ SEAM.

scrap basket block #3 —prairie rose table rug “tongue” template

SCRAP BASKET BLOCK #3.jpeg Click for directions

Here is another Scrap Basket block…I know I have stretched my creativity to come up with this one, but i still like it.  I have recieved a few requests for more blocks and I feel guilty that I have not been able to get one done lately, but do not worry…after Chicago and Paducah they will come and then some…

I am stressing out because we have discovered that the tongue template is not in the book for the Prairie Rose Table Rug and the robin in Nest does not have a belly….  I know not all of the books are printed yet so I have contacted them to see what can be done.  If they can insert an 8×10 in the center of the book…we will see what they come back with…So in the mean time if you were one of the first to purchase our Summer Gatherings book…here are those templates Prairie Rose Table Rug Tongue Just click on this link and you can print them out right from here.  Technology is nice sometimes…It is very disheartening when we try so hard to make sure everything is right before we print…We never thought we had to proof the graphics, but we learn a little more every book we do.  We will put the templates in any of the kits that we sell also to make sure that they get them.  Good night…LB

I almost burned my house down yesterday…

I am so stupid…I left the house with a pot of boiling beans on the gas stove.  I was just going to run to the graphic designers and drop off some stuff…no big deal…then I stopped at the warehouse and got sidetracked and then Jake wanted me to go with him to pick up his Jetski…on the way home I remembered about the beans..this is about 3 hours later…my heart was pounding so hard…I thought I was going to faint or throw up…when we got over the overpass, I didn’t see any smoke…so when we got home there was no smoke only STINK.  So to make a long story short… I was using dried beans to make white chicken chili, thought I would save a buck you know…so by buying the dried beans and boiling them, it costed me my nice Calphalon pot, and then I had to go to the shop for the new clean smelling candles we just got in…so from now on…I will be buying the 6 cans of beans…I just try to do too many damn things in a day…

I thought I would share this with you so if you ever have done something stupid like this, You are not alone…LB

Today we are setting up the Chicago booth…
