week #5 freebie…

Here is another great basket block….threads used are Valdani #12-P12 & O575 AND 3SF-O575 & O775.  I hope you love these blocks as much as I love designing them!

Nick & I spent the weekend on the boat.  We got some sun, grilled out a lot and I actually got a lot of sewing done.  There is one downside to sewing on a boat and that is I lost one of my 3″ blocks, of course it was one that was all sewn.  The 20-30 mph winds might have had something to do with it, but I thought I was being careful.  I re-sewed it this morning and now it will probably show up!  I am sure I am not the only one out there with this kind of problems.

Buttermilk Basin

Stacy's booth at Minnesota Quilt Show...busy, busy!

I just want to give a shout out about Stacy from Buttermilk Basin.  She has become a good friend of mine and Nick’s (she texts Nick when she’s bored and needs to have me call her, because I don’t like my cell very much)and she was next to us during Quilt Market and this last Minnesota show.  She is starting to do some retail shows and sell some kits to her great designs so look for here website to be updated soon with here new offerings.  She is a blast and just crazy…she called me before market and said that she is getting her hair done before she goes, and that Market is the only time she wears makeup…she was talking about how if customers only knew how we really were they wouldn’t be so “in awe” when they meet us.  I totally agree…but anyway we are going to plan some dates when she can come and do some workshops and you can hang out with her as well!  If you can get here that is…

block in a box

A lot of the girls at the shop are doing a block exchange…Here is how it goes…you pick out the fabrics you want your blocks made out of and place them in your box…you pick a block that you are going to make for everyone…when you get their box, you make your block…you are always making the same block, only in their fabrics…you cross off your name on the list.  Write the name of your block on the outside paper and bring it back to the pick/up and drop/off place (our shop)and you keep making blocks until you have had everyone’s box.  Here is what it kind of looks like…I made these this morning…I just thought I would share this with you, in case you want to start one of these with your own group…I know you need another thing to do like I do…why do you think I had to make four blocks??? I was probably holding up the swap, but I think I am good for a little bit now…besides I like cutting a lot at a time instead of one block at a time…LB
