Moda Blockheads…Block 21

Today’s block is from the most talented Jo Morton…another sweet block…well…they all are pretty awesome!!!  Click HERE to go to Jo’s blog to get the pattern…

I made only one block yesterday as I just got home from a teaching trip and we are having company over for a long weekend and I have go prepare for that as well…Linda aka…thequiltedpineapple…and her girls and husband Scott…the guys are in a fishing tournament…so I’ll let you know how that goes…us girls are going to just hang out…play in the water, the sun and watch the planes fly overhead…maybe some stitching…as I have to get things DONE!

I also used Doug Leko’s new ruler to make these scrappy geese…so fast and accurate…I usually do NOT make folded corner FGs…cause they NEVER turn out…but that was not the case with the ruler!!!

Here are pics of me making the FG units and the square in a square center unit..

That’s all the photos I took…so if you NEED this ruler…. order it from Doug…HERE…I could send you to our store to buy the ruler but I want you to support Doug and buy it from him!!!

Question of the week…Do you put labels on your quilts….sometimes yes…but most times…I do this…this label cannot be removed… until next week…LB

I am home for teaching in Hershey PA…and getting back organized…working on finishing up the SBOWs and a NEW BOW for 2018…but first I had to spend some time with my “little man” while his Momma worked today…I missed him so much…He sure has casting his pole down pat…he could do it for hours…and I could watch him for as long as that too!

July 19 – Do you wash-clean your quilts?  If so, any special tips to share?

Hmmm…I wash quilts that are used on beds… Warm wash on gently cycle with a mild detergent…then in the dryer to dry on the lowest heat setting…

I will also wash quilts when I want them to look old..all crinkled up and the quilting sunk in…these I put in a hot dryer…

I do not wash quilts that are meant to hang on a wall, aka…my best quilts… My wool appliqué quilts fall into this category, which is the first thing someone asks when they see a quilt with wool appliqué on it…..I do not spend many hours of my time and very expensive hand dyed wools and fancy threads to have someone unconsciously drool on them! LOL…so that means NO one is sleeping under my wool applique quilts and they should not get dirty…dusty maybe!!!  If they need freshening up I put them in the dryer on air dry to knock the dust off…if they are small quilts/table mats/runners I use a lint roller…  Can quilts with wool appliqué be washed?  Yes…cold water and then laid flat to dry…I would hand wash in bathtub if I had to wash a wool appliqué quilt…I’d also throw in some ice cubes…If you get wool hot and wet it will bleed..so the colder the water the better.  Wash it and get it out and laid flat on something to dry on…a floor covered with plastic drop cloth would work well..

Make sure you go and visit everyone else and see what’s on their blogs today!!!

Triangle Gatherings…52 & 53

I hope you all have had a nice weekend…yes… I know they are too short….always…so here are a few TG blocks.  We currently are a little behind and I plan on catching up this week…so keep that in mind…schedule in some extra stitching time.  Taking vacations get you behind and I very much dislike catching up.   I feel very rushed and behind on ALL of my projects..except Moda Blockheads because I mistakenly made the wrong block one week and it so nicely is this weeks block, perfect timing to that!!!

I swear I have made TG block 52 -six times already!!! But every time I look to find a duplicate we have not made it before…so I did not take the time to “look” this time…I’m trusting Teri the graphic designer that this is not a duplicate..Click Here to print Block 52Click Here to print Block 53

We had “little man” this weekend…no stitching but lots of fun!  Here’s a few pics from the camera roll…

Found a little tikes picnic table on FB…cleaned it up and he had to have a picnic to test it!!!

Look MiMi “no hands”!!!… ok…lil dare devil…

We also went swimming and jet skiing…he literaly ran us ragged!  This is a rare shot of him sitting still!!

Have a great week…lots to get done before I leave for Hershey on Wednesday!!!  I will be teaching 4 classes…and the crew has had some trouble with the trailer yesterday in Chicago.  They had to stop and wait to get it fixed when something is open today…so I’m a little nervous about that…

Sit & Stitch at Anchor Point

Those of you who follow me know what Anchor Point is. It was so awesome to see it filled with quilters, stitching, eating and visiting…Tuesday I had my Sit & Stitch Ladies out for a potluck cookout.  We are a fairly new group, we only have been getting together less than a year…and now that I will be staying home more we are meeting more and will eventually meet once a month…We had a lovely day and we are all getting to know each other more and we even had a few new ladies for a total of 15!  They all brought a dish to pass and they requested I cook “chicken brats”…so that was a great plan, not a lot of fuss…I did have fun shopping for a little goodie that they all took home with them…since they came to my home, I decided they were getting something different…”kitchen” goodies, as they always get a quilting goodie….I LOVE my new kitchen and it is so fun to fill it with “new” cool kitchen stuff…so this is what my Sit & Stitch ladies went home with…

A storage bowl from Pioneer Woman, a kitchen towel..a door hanger for their quilting room, an Anchor fat quarter and a colorful new tool for their kitchen…oh…and the bowl had chocolate in it!!! Can’t forget that…

Here are some pics from the morning…

Then in the evening Debbie’s Hexi group came with about 25 ladies.. They stitched, ate,  toured of the house and and then just like that it was over…That was a lot of people and I did not get many pics because of being the cook, host and tour guide….lol….but I did manage to get a pic of the food!!!

I loved seeing & visiting with these girls as most of them have been customers/friends since I started quilting and then opened the shop, they are the foundation of the building of Primitive Gatherings…so when Debbie asked if here group could visit Anchor Point I didn’t even hesitate…YES…Being on the road I am rarely at the shop these last couple of years so I missed them…I also managed to get them a Thank You goodie as well…

I wish you all could attend a get-together like this…but I know it is not possible for so many reasons…but what if life/travel was easier…maybe it will be in the future…after all..we now have the thing to communicate like they did on Star Trek (iPhone)…maybe the thing the teleports you is next????  We can dream…

I also have some goodies left over from the party..

We will be giving them to the shipping department…If you place an Website Order in the future and put “Anchor Point in the comment section we will include something until they are gone, there is not a lot of them but maybe you will be one the lucky ones…Have a GREAT day…I’m teaching a two day class today and tomorrow on wool crazy appliqué…my favorite class to teach!

My best…Lisa
