lakeland quilting & sewing expo

Hey everyone…just finished eating a delivered pizza from a local joint…very good….laying in the hotel bed watching Idol and uploading pics…I travel with a “mini” computer and it is so slow to upload with this free internet…takes about 3 min a pic…so here is what the booth looks like…it was a very busy day today.  The first 2 hours were insane! then after noon it was managable in the booth, in the first 20 minuites we had a geranium tablemat sample stolen…I just don’t understand this…  so onto a better note…I have great news! I actually slept til 6:30am today!  Awesome!  Then I  actually excersized this morning after a week of being lazy…back on track..It felt so good…I acutally feel the best I have since my surgery…

stawberry festival

It very early in the morning, I can’t sleep so I’ve read for a couple of hours and now I am going to blog…I need to start working out so I can SLEEP! Hopefully I will not be too tired today to go for a long walk/jog…as soon as I am done here 4am is a little too early to be out on the streets in a new town.  So guess what we did on Saturday…we went to Srawberry Festival at the Hillsboro County Fairgrounds…The place was huge…it ran into the streets of Plant City Fl.  As soon as we arrived we had to have the strawberry shortcake…and i couldn’t wait to try a bunch of the “fair” food…well after the shortcake, Nick didn’t said he wasn’t hungry so there i sat with my tongue haning out wanting to try this and that, but when hubby is not hungry he is letting me down because I could be having a bite  or two of what he is having…so he totally rained on my strawberry festival fun as far as the food…so we walked and walked and saw everything….the contests, the bluegrass bands, the “cracker” village where a woman made rope,  the blacksmith made nails, the woman was braiding a wool rug…it was awesome!  We saw the cows…their were no pigs, chickens, and lambs so that was a little let down, but it was something to do… I am not the relaxing type…My sewing is done that I thought would take me my whole time down here…I’ve read : The girl who kicked the hornets nest.  the last book in the series of 3.  We saw the new Matt Damon movie and now this is the second night in a row that I am up!  We have to go to the expo center tomorrow early and finish setting up the booth, so that will be something to look forward to.  I just love to work and that is the plain truth.  I will have to find a kit in the booth to make so we have a second sample.  Wish I would have brought more of my new stuff that I really need to get ready for Spring Market…Well it is 5 am now…time to get up and burn off some energy…Here is a slide show of the strawberry festival… I would have loved to buy about 4 flats of them, they were only 8$ a flat!.  Mom would have loved making jelly and freezing these berries!  In Wisconsin we have to pick your own and it costs about $15 a flat….LB

sunny florida

I have now been in Florida for a week.   I spent 3 days with the Feather Princesses teaching workshops and doing a trunkshow/lecture….I just love visiting these girls…so much  fun…so much going on in their guil, so much APPLIQUE!.  Iwas taking notes about all their doings.  We had 30 people in our first workshop, I was so busy I forgot to take a few pics….sorry girls…I got a pic of some of the girls in the second workshop….Nick and I attended a Yankee game…Nick attended more Yankee games while I was working….but he did help out a lot the first day.  I am also working on a bunch of new things for Market one is a wool on wool big quilt.  I just finished the center and all of what I had fused down on the borders…wish I would have taken the time to put the appliques on the borders…didn’t think I would get this much done…but I am working pretty hard at it…can’t wait to show you…I am working on this itty bitty computer…it is so little so I make a few mistakes that I can’t see this type is so small…must be getting old.  Today we get to set up for the Lakeland – Sewing & Quilting Expo!  Hope to see all you Florida Girls on Thursday, Friday and Saturday!…Now that I have internet I will blog a little each day…Nick wants to tell everybody he misses his puppies!  So do I!  LB

Spring Shop Hop…Brrrr

Today is the first day of our Spring Shop Hop…We hope you have time to come in and see what is all NEW at the shop!  A two person stay at “The Gathering” retreat house is the grand prize!, along with 8 $100 gift baskets.   If you can’t come in…you still can participate in the event!  The shop hop specials are one item at 20% off…and you will recieve a kit to make a 6″ block.  We, however, want you to make our little quilt so for $3.50 we are going to give you the block and send you the rest of the fabric to make our little Primitive Star quilt.  It is made using 1/2″ Thangles…so if you don’t have them you must use them, or you will go insane trying to make these little triangles.  Just trust me here.  ONLINE shoppers, if you are placing an online order for the shop hop, we will give your the 20% off the biggest item in your cart…you must put the Primitive Star kit in your basket also, or you will just receive the pattern.   The sale does not apply to any Valdani kits,  previous block of the months, sewing machines or those special things we forget to exclude. The shop hop is this Thursday through Saturday…Happy Hopping…Send some warm spring weather our way…please…Presley and Jeter are missing the CA sun.  They are getting bigger…

Getting ready for the next adventure…

WOW…this girl has a lot going on…just finished putting up a booth for the Tampa Quilt Show in Lakeland, FL.  Nick needs to start driving on Sat.   It is Spring Shop Hop- the next couple of days…so I’ve been getting ready for that…see the Shop Blog for my little quilt…but I did this Scrap Basket block a few days ago and have been too busy to get it on for you…sorry it takes me awhile between blocks…if you are new to my blog…you can find all 6 of the past blocks in my previous posts… Click here  to get the directions for the next block….SCRAP BASKET BLOCK #7       Will post more later tonight…LB
