Moda Designer’s…Friendship Quilt Along…repost

Sorry to bother and repost this…but i noticed some of my text changed colors?  It was white and invisible…go figure that one out?

Hello, I’m Lisa, from Primitive Gatherings.  If you are a regular visitor, or here for the first time…I welcome you to sign up to browse through earlier posts to learn more about me and my company…  If you like what you see and want to follow me in my quilting adventures, just enter your email in the box provided on the bottom right of this site…If you are an “old” friend, Welcome back…and thanks for hanging out with me…IMG_0619

Are you here today for the Friendship Quilt Along sponsored by Moda?…the best fabric company in the world…Okay…maybe I am just a little biased….I want you all to know what a joy it is to be able to work with such an “over-the-top” company such as Moda, United Notions…They truly are the best at what they do and support “us” who work with them in many ways to help grow our “little” pattern companies.

NNow on to the Quilt Along… My Friendship block features our newest line of fabric: Snowman Gatherings.  It is to arrive in our stores in April 2013.  What I love about this line is that it has 2 cute little primitive snowman prints, but then all the other prints are little “reproductions” of vintage fabrics in 5 color ways, a wonderful deep navy, a union blue, and then three tones ranging from cream to dark tan.  The prints consist of motifs that remind me of snow, swirling snow, stars and such…  Another bonus is the fabric “goes along” with my other lines…One of the union blues in my block is from “Old Glory Gatherings”.  It is nice to be able to collect fabrics…remember you do not have a “stash”…it is a Collection.  You never have to feel guilting of having a collection.  Collections are valuable!

Are you collecting all 28 blocks?  This next link contains the PDF directions for my signature block,  you can click and print…

I want to share some photos of Snowman Gatherings that were taken by Camille Roskelley for advertising purposes…They are so sweeeeeet!!!  Thanks Camille for your camera talents!

Warm Winter Blessing is a BOM that will be starting in April/May…depending on when the fabric arrives…I would love to post a link to my store site where you can sign up…but at this moment our site is currently down due to an upgrade….This is a real bummer when there is so much going on right now…The new site will have lots of nice features…but right now half of our pictures and prices are not there and it looks like we were hijacked…no logo and a bunch of random stuff going on…another issue is we didn’t realize our company that is upgrading us is in England! 6 hour time difference…so Please come back and visit when all is back up and running, we have lots of nice samples and wools and inspiration…and keep your fingers crossed it all works our and we don’t have to go back to our “old” site and rebuild it…  If you want to be sure to get a spot in this BOM you may call us…920-722-7233   Sorry for this inconvenience this may cause…I am going to share the link here but it may not work for you right now…but you will come back and visit later, right?  Warm Winter Blessing

Now back to the Signature Blocks….

I just love signature quilts.  This is a signature block that I had framed and it hangs in my studio.  Back in the day…they had signature stamps.  I would love to have stamp created for me…I guess this is a lost art.  This was not a “rubber” stamp like we have today…I believe they were made of metal…and could be very finely etched…  In the second picture you can see how fine and detailed they were… I have attached a few signature quilts, that I have found, some are antique and some are new…some are little images but just so you can get another idea for a signature quilt.

Fat Quarter Shop 2013 Designer’s Mystery Blog Hop…Welcome to Week 3

DM-Blog-Hop-Vertical

Hey Everyone!

Welcome to this Mystery Blog Hop hosted by Fat Quarter Quilt Shop…This hop is featuring 12 Moda designers and their blocks using  the Avalon fabric line, from Joanna from Fig Tree and Company…This Mystery Quilt is actually a row quilt.  Remember it is a Mystery…we are not showing you our blocks…you can however sign up here for this BOM, click here:  2013 Designer Mystery BOM

The first row of blocks were baskets…View the posts here….

The second row of blocks were stars…View the posts here…

The third row are houses…the other two designers posting this week are:

Lynne of Kansas Troubles

Polly & Laurie from Minick & Simpson

and then I am the third….now we were asked to talk about our DREAM HOME…hmmm this was a photo I pinned the day before I was asked to send in a photo of my dream home…so off it went to Chelsey at FQS…but then the more I thought about this I actually have a confession…

4497359[1]

Last Fall, Nick & I purchased what will become our Dream Home….it is a little rough right now…but it has some great possibilities…so lets visit a few of them…first…it is on a lake…Now if any of you know me…you know we have this wonderful floating cottage aka “our boat”.  I love our boat, but here is the kicker…If we have a really HOT summer…our lake gets so green and full of algae, we cannot allow the dogs in the water!  We have had a boat for 4 years…two of those years were HOT, no swimming…So our boat is now FOR SALE!  Why would we want to sell our boat if we now have a Lakehouse?  Well our boat is big…you can sleep on it…. no need for this big boat…it will have to be a fishing boat or PONTOON-Yeah, you know that song…On the pontoon..

Now…back to the Lakehouse…that is what we call it…I did not want a cottage…but my dear husband was not “letting it go” if you know what I mean…now I do not need another property to up keep….so when he said to me one Sunday…Hey …ya wanna go see this house on the lake? (you know how we talk up here)…  It is only 25 miles from here?  To get him off my back I said Yes, sure…and off we went…I knew I could find something wrong with it….Well…we arrived…and I took one look at the view and I was mesmerized….I did not want to leave…I was in love with that water!!! that sunset that was going to happen…those loons that were swimming by….I didn’t really care about the house as long as it wasn’t falling down…which it was not…

IMG_8776IMG_8787

It was built in the 1920’s… this is a picture of it back then…now what do you notice?  Yes…that is it! Its kind of secluded! we sit down at the end of a dead end and we are on a point…so water on two sides…Now there have been some updates, since then….some good…so not so good…Now here is the current pic as it sits in the wintertime….I am standing on the end of the dock…The house is now turd brown with turd brown trim….who paints a house brown with brown trim???? but look…see that by the edge of the water…on the left?  That is a guest house!  It is so cute…but again lots of brown and paneling (YUCK) and needs some love…

IMG_8788

Now a peek at the inside…since September we have done a few things…painted…the walls were completely white…we added new appliances, new kitchen and bath knobs,  and furnished it…that is it…we have been too busy to do anything else and I have decided we are not going to do anything until we know if it

IMG_8771IMG_8792major until we decide if it is going to be our lakehouse or our real house….We are going to spend this whole next summer enjoying it and the water before we dive into anything…

It is all open concept…my sewing room is out in the middle of the room…see my cutting table…the dining room, computer nook and kitchen is to the left.  Now I wanted to keep this house bright and sunny and “lakehouse” like..

It was painted a nice grey…with yellow accents…I found some cool furniture…see that plaid couch?  It looks like some wool I own!!! But as soon as I saw it I knew I wanted it for the lakehouse…

The best thing about the kitchen is I can reach in every cupboard…It was designed for a shorty like me!IMG_8772

A few more things…a little reading/stitching nook in my stitchinIMG_8770g room…Then the upstairs is one open loft…It was painted a nice blue and my cousin Rick made me these “old looking” head boards with the industrial lights in them…I just love how these turned out…I need to find something better than those dust ruffles…but the antique quilts sure add a big impact to this room!!!

This is all I am going to show you for now…and now that my “secret” is out…you know why I have been “pinning” lakehouse stuff on Pinterest!!! I will let you all know how  my family and I are enjoying the  our lakehouse…and keep you all posted!  Hopefully it will become our DREAM house!

Thank you for visiting with me today…stop on over to the Fat Quarter Shop to sign in for their give-away today!  Fat Quarter Shop Blog…

all for now…LB

ps…Jeter says “HI”
