Need A Getaway!!!

I know I do…Now that most of the Market prep is crossed off the list, I am working on the bazillion emails and my calendar and whats up and coming…

Can I squeeze in a vacation in December?…or should I just stay home and enjoy my new home? I’ll be pondering that…but…the Old Green Cupboard Girls have let me know we only have a few more openings in our March Experience…I say experience instead of retreat because I think this is going to be above and beyond a retreat!!!  There is still plenty of time to plan for this get-away from it all…Get the girls together…or come alone…you’ll make a bunch of friends…we promise!!!flyer-pine-island-lodge-black primitive-gathering-reservation-form-copy

Above is the link for the registrations form…come and join us for the experience you will never forget!

Here is a first time peek at one of my kitted projects for NC…its precut for you from the upcoming Liberty Gatherings line of fabric, and it only takes a couple hours to complete the top…its about 6 1/2″x 36″ you will get all three designs to choose from…and it’s included in your fee! Sorry for the crappy photo, but I wasn’t planning for this post and its a small part of a big picture I cropped in to show you…Happy Sunday!!!

Block 12 & 13 Magic of Christmas…

Good Evening Everyone…

Just want you all to know we all just finished a H-E double toothpick of- week!  That’s I why I have not posted any new MOC blocks…now remember… I told you early on there were going to be gaps and times when they come day after day and then not so much…but rest assured…we will get them all done by the end of November!!!

I did not mention this but I am going to now…sooooo I have to go to CA after Houston to teach a bunch of wonderful ladies coming all the way from New Zeeland…they are coming to our CA shop and we are so excited to have them!!! But that means I will be gone for over two weeks, coming home NOV 11…then what happens in November?  Right our biggest event!!!! Primitive Christmas…when you get patterns and pincushion kits and those cute mugs!!! So my point here is I have designed/stitched all(4 this year)the projects for this AND about 5 extra ones…that I am saving for this event!!! So really it was fun, but at the same time…very brutal….this was A LOT to do plus all the new designs from Liberty Gatherings my newest Moda line that will come out in FEB/2017 ….I will be posting about these soon too…now that they are all back from the quilters and much prettier now… and will be hanging in Houston for all the shop owners to see and buy for their shops…so…to keep you busy for the next week…while the graphic designer is gone to Mexico this whole next week..(thanks Teri for working late today…I know you wanted to be gone by three….we appreciate all you do for us!!! Make sure you have a margarita and enjoy the sun!!!)  But she managed to sneak these two blocks in today! I’ve double-triple, checked them for printing errors and can’t find any…so fingers crossed there are none…

Two easy ones…this time…LB

Daurmont…I love this quilt

This is for anyone or any shop that has purchased our Daurmont pattern…We thought we were going to be awesome and include transparency in your pattern for easier layout…but there is an issue with it, it was printed at 120%, all the shapes in the pattern are the correct size.. the transparency is wrong, so you can get started on tracing and cutting out wools……If you are a shop and purchased it from Moda with your shipment of Little Gatherings II fabrics we have notified them and are waiting to know who to proceed with getting your patterns to you…If you cannot wait and need the corrected asap please email me and I can help you….lisa.bongean@yahoo.com    If you are a PG retail customer please email us as we will be going through our orders and double checking and sending them out… the shop email is primitivegatheringsquiltshop@yahoo.com   Just to confirm…if you are shop and need it asap email ME…if you are a retail customer email the SHOP.

We SINCERLY apologize for this inconvenience…but are really happy that it’s the transparency and not a bazillion wool kits with the stems too short!!!

We are frantically getting ready for  Fall Market/ Festival I’ve stitched 4 bindings in 3 days, all at night after work!!!….the truck is leaving and we have to get it all done before it does!!!  Anyone going to Houston?

the magic of christmas blocks 10 & 11

I am happily stitching-away at home…I will not be traveling for over two weeks yet…this is very nice not having to be thinking about where I am going next week…but there is Fall Market/Festival in Houston…but being home makes it much more pleasant!  So here is another 2 blocks…Like I said before I love stitching these in-between the other projects…I keep looking at block 11 and thinking I stitched this one already…but it is different.

I do have a confession about block 10…I cut and pieced it like the directions…but…I was not happy with it…those 32- 1″ triangles are too hard to cut and stitch perfectly 32 times.  So I ripped my little 2″ block from the middle grabbed my 1″ triangle paper and made them in about half the time it took me to do it without them…and…if you notice this photo…I had to do it twice…because somehow I decided I should put the country red with the white bella!!!!But after I stitched them all again…it was heaven to put them together…they were perfect…If you do not have our triangle paper for any triangles less than 1″ you need to get them for your sanity…so much less fustration and a big timesaver 40 HST in about 10 min. ….and I do not cut off the 1 mini dog ear the triangles have…Look at the photo closely…see the piles of HSTs..the lowest red one have the little dog ear…the pile above are the boo boo triangles…and the ones up top and the ripped out block are the old ones…they don’t look bad from far away, but I had tucks and they were not lining up nicely…I was having to compensate way too much…           1″Triangle Paper                         Assorted Triangle Paper-small sizesimg_8282

I’ve also been trying to decorate our house for Fall…little by little, going through all the decorations from the old house and seeing what goes in the new house…how about you? Do you decorate for all the seasons?  Which is your favorite…LB

Love Mini Quilts?…

I want to tell you about another great compilation from Lissa Alexander for Martingale books!  This book is the third in a series of books by a bunch of Moda designers!  I think this might be my favorite yet so far…you know I love me some mini quilts…but there are lots of mini quilts in this book…Here is my contribution to the book, Midnight Garden…a lovely little wool appliqué quilt..which I love the way they stylized it here!  Shown with my favorite perle cotton appliqué Valdani thread for wool appliqué.

LisaBongean/MiniMarvels

Here is the cover of the book! A beautiful cover…

moda-all-stars-mini-marvels-cover

If you are a fan of Primitive Gatherings you are probably into more traditional look than the quilts on the cover…we all know a great design is all we need to “switch” the colors and make it to our own tastes…and there are lots of great designs in the book…but…don’t worry…my friends…my quilt is NOT the only “dark”(as some refer to them) quilt the book this time…Here is Betsy’s quilt..so awesome!!!b1402_14

and then there is Lynne’s quilt…

b1402_05

Which I love this one too because I know we can make this one in a couple of hours no problem…

Here is Martingales intro for the book…

Join 15 of Moda’s all-star designers as they explore creative small quilt patterns that you’ll love to stitch. These mini-quilts are tailor-made for scraps. With designs ranging from easy to intricate–plus many make-in-a-day designs–these fun little quilts are showcased in photos that will inspire you to display your mini creations as artful accents to your decor.

This collection features patterns by your favorite Moda designers: Pat Sloan, Carrie Nelson, Brigitte Heitland, Camille Roskelley, Me and My Sister Designs, Sherri McConnell, Sandy Gervais, Edyta Sitar, Lynne Hagmeier, Vanessa Christenson, Anne Sutton, Laurie Simpson, Jen Kingwell, Lisa Bongean, and Betsy Chutchian.
Many of the quilts are quick to finish; all are fun to make
Each mini project offers an opportunity to try a different technique–traditional piecing, applique, paper piecing, and even embroidery.

ORDER BOOK AND/OR KIT FOR MIDNIGHT GARDEN…that’s my project in the book in case you have forgotten with how long this post is…

Here are the other titles from our Moda Girls!  Do you have them all?

If not get your soon as they may not be around forever…and I know a little secret about the next one that is in the works…so make sure your collection will be complete!
